I perused some of the other ratings here and have some context for some of the lower ratings: you have to be ready that this is actually a dive bar (or really a dive 'lounge') and be ok with it. What makes it a wonderful, unique and very cool bar setup: the divey location, the easy and potentially cozy and awesome celebratory experience because of the intimate 'dive' quality, and the fact that it has karaoke witha great system--you have to be able to reconcile that perhaps some other things won't be perfect. I'm not saying that this is for everyone, and I'm certainly not saying that we can't all have different priorities and tastes when going out. But what I am saying is: if you take this bar and lounge for what it is and roll with the punches a bit, then you will potentially love this place and have a lot of fun. For context, I have been going to bars, lounges, raves, parties, festivals, and everything else for a long time, and what I have learned is: things are sometimes going to take some unexpected or iffy turns. Often, you just have to roll with it as best that you can, and just as often: those iffy turns turn into some of the most memorable and even wonderful experiences. So that is what the Blue Goose Lounge offers: a really cool TRUE LOUNGE experience, with the lighting and cushy seating to prove it, with KARAOKE and a nice sound system, and a with an owner/bartender actually showing his personality instead of just being in service of you (yes, that might rub some people the wrong way, but I think it adds character to an establishment). It's possible that I've been lucky enough to not have had a 'bad' experience here--but it's also possible that I didn't even realize that was the situation. All in all, I've been here 3 times now and each time has been a fun and unique experience thanks to the atmosphere and setting, due to Doug the bartender, the comfortable lounge vibe, and because of the other patrons with a similar mindset. How else would you have a lounge with all of the GOOD things that I've mentioned without some of the idiosyncrasies? I don't know of another place like this for all of its good, and anything else that comes close as a drinking lounge either isn't this laid-back or requires spending a crazy amount of money to have a good time. Went here with a couple of friends and one of the bar tenders gave me and my friends shots then said "take the shot or leave" and one of my friends said she'll take it in a little bit and he literally yelled at her and said "down the shot or leave, take the shot or you're not welcome here." Which is absolutely crazy because I'd think that any bar would want their customers to be responsible drinkers but he literally (1) said he wouldn't play our karaoke song unless we all downed the shot and (2) said take the shot or literally leave.. so we left. He is unhinged and the tequila was bad. read more

Super cute bar with ambiance and actually comfy seating! I love the low but colorful lighting, unique decor, and that they have cozy places to sit. It's a really fun place to come with a group of friends or even have an event. The drinks are also great and prices average about: Well shots $7-8 Beer $10 Cocktails are above ten, ranging around $14 or so The even better part? They have parking! The lot itself is only a tiny lot though so getting there early would be ideal. But there is also street parking that didn't seem so bad when I was there as well Only note I'd have is that they are understaffed, which seems a bit unkind for the bartender! I'm guessing it could have either been an off-night or just due to the general economy, but I did feel really bad that they only had one employee working there by himself. It seemed like that would be overwhelming for anyone to work that way. Hopefully things pick up and they can get him a coworker. But he sure did an amazing job for being only one person though. There were loads of people the night I went and he seemed to get through all of them and even got you closed out quickly at the end of the night as well I also heard they have karaoke there sometimes as well, although I didn't get to see it in action while I was there. friends and i went to this place for a coming of age event. when the bar was closing the "owner" came out to me and my friends and argued with us for not buying, ended up yelling at one friend. tried talking with him but he seemed somehow more drunk than we were (???). telling me to explain bar etiquettes and what's a dive bar.. honestly needs better management. read more

Zero stars because the owner of this place is an absolute egomaniac. When the night started, we came up to the bar simply asking how much a shot was. He got upset over us asking that question because of the curiosity of how much a well shot was. After unnecessary commentary at the bar we got our answer of $11. Decided it wasn't worth it, so that was that. After the night ended after a private event we went to, the bar closed so my friends and I were outside after the event and he comes up to us yelled at us saying we didn't buy any drinks from him. YELLED IN OUR FACES. We all were thrown off by the reaction and trying to de escalate the situation, we told him to relax because he was starting to get loud with no need and yelled "THIS IS LOUD" losing his shit completely. It's like this guy wants to pick a fight. I stepped in trying to calm him down and while I did, I told him he was out of line because he had no business yelling at us on top of us not knowing who he is. Of course we would be on defense and on edge if you come out yelling at us. I know he didn't get the point in this head across because he already has this fixated mindset so arguing with him is like arguing with a damn wall. Would give zero stars if I could. Overall was an okay night. My friend rented the place out for his birthday. But my girlfriend, a close friend, and I were asking the owner/ bartender prices for one "well" liqueur shot. He proceeded to mansplain and not tell us the price of the bar but instead top shelf. We then had to squeeze out the price. $11 for one shot. Guy was a total dick so we walked out and got a bottle from a liquor store. Later that night we were talking outside and the owner comes out and mocks us for asking how much a shot was, on top of yelling that we didn't buy from him. My buddy (a bartender) tried to explain what actually happened but the owner was talking over him and raising his voice. I got in between and said let's calm down this is supposed to be a conversation not a fight as he was talking over me and telling me he's not talking to me. Then I proceeded to ask are you the owner? Wouldn't answer the question 3 times and talked over me. So I raised my voice and said are you the f***ing owner? Then he said I'm not even yelling. Then gets inches from my face and says "THIS IS F***ING YELLING." I had to walk off to recollect myself. My buddy continued talking until he stormed off. Awful experience I don't know how this place is still open. Look at all the other 1 star reviews it's all the same. This guy is a total asshole. I'm all for small business owners but not when they don't know how to treat other people. F this guy. Worst service I had ever gotten. If you're tired of going through the blues, it may be a good idea to get together with some fun people and hangout at the Blue Goose Lounge. After receiving an invite from my Yelp buddy Antho L., I found myself along with other Yelpers, Ed C., Winston H., Winfield H., Antho L., and others at this small but very cool place owned by the very cool Doug, who also happens to be a Yelper. Doug made sure everyone was comfortable, as he mingled with the crowd, explained the layout of the place and, overall, just gave assurance that this is a place to have some fun. Ed C. was allowed to bring and play his own mix of music, which was great. Everyone enjoyed this mix of music so much, that we kicked off the dance segment with none other than the "electric slide". We all did dance moves from the 70s up to current moves, as much as we could. After listening to the incomparable music mix from Ed, it was time for karaoke. This was too funny, cool, and just plain entertaining. All jokes aside, I'm just glad Simon Cowell, from American Idol, wasn't there to criticize because there would've been much criticism! After having much fun, you can go to the bar and order a drink and/or, surprisingly, the bartenders were approaching the customers to make sure they were fine with their drinks. In addition, food is also served here at inexpensive costs, with the cheapest being the KBBQ tacos at $2. So, it doesn't require much or cost much to have a good time. Again, just get with some fun people, get a nice venue, and be willing and ready to have a good time! I've been birthday shopping. Oh really Steph? When was your birthday? It's in September, but since I am planning on throwing one hell of a kick ass party with fellow Virgo and homefry Aunny D, the ball has been rolling for quite some time now. Should we do it at The Prince? Should I do another tranny Shakey's adventure? Is Red Lobster calling my name? Well, the questions have all been answered and the search is complete, because Blue Goose is it! I came here on Saturday night for Diana N's bday bash and instantly fell in love. We hadn't even walked in yet and I loved the place. Mostly because I got to meet the owner (doug d) right away and seeing as how he is a yelper, what's not to love about him, hehe. We then entered the joint and saw many friendly and familiar yelpin faces, along with a really cool bar! It's a total mix of styles incorporating everything from industrial to gothic to shabby chic and even has rope as molding in the Fran D room. It's not really called that, but lucky for me, Fran was kind enough to let us cop a cozy squat on the couch in there. :) The only thing that was a misfire on the night of the event was the bar. But I am still going to give this place a strong 5 because the bar staff wasn't the real bar staff and instead was a friend of the owners filling in. I don't know what he does for a living, but if he has any aspirations of bartenderhood, um, I would start re-thinking that like yesterday. Nice enough guy, but man, it was painful. With that said, I am looking forward to going back this week and seeing what the usual crew is pourin. Overall though, this place is great and it even has karaoke. This was of course our cue to leave as me and the karaoke are pretty much mortal enemies and we opted for a night cap of Sambuca in the Valley. But if you love to sing your little heart out in a cool atmosphere in a great location, then Bam, the Blue Goose is your best bet! Good job guys! UPDATE as of August 3rd.... Best karaoke bar! Some friends and I went on a quiet night and ended up making friends and having a great night!

I love bars like this, nondescript on the outside and all Architectural Digest-worthy on the inside. Curvy lounge-style couches are a treat as are hooks under the bar for the girls to hang their purses. This small bar does well at maximizing it's space. The little room where Aunny exhibited her best wheel barrel acrobatics with the stripper is perfect for these giggly girl antics. And I love it when there's a stage for karaoke so you can feel like the rock star you think you are. I didn't get to explore the upstairs loft looking area or the bathrooms. And I didn't even get to sing my standby, "Hit Me With Your Best Shot". But I'll save star #5 for future visits. The bartender poured a great De La Rosa at $5 a pop, but I need further convincing on the Martini skills. Ahem, bigger olives, please. Another UYE here, anyone??? read more

I've wondered what I could add to the existing 30 reviews of BGL..... Last night, on my second visit, I liked BGL even more than the first time. Would you believe the bartender remembered what I drank two weeks before?! and I had only had one drink that night! This time around he recommended a vodka made from grapes, the name of which escapes me. It was good, I must admit, even smoother than Grey Goose, as he promised. (Update: Well that was quick....I no sooner posted the review than Leila told me it is called Ciroc! Thanks Leila! Yes, join us next time...) Doug was there, friendly and welcoming, as always. We all settled in on those comfy soft couches for the Karaoke show, me with my shoes off and feet up, after a long hot day of walking around Sunset Junction. I felt at home, surrounded my my favorite people. SF Yelper Jay H belted out songs, surprising us with her clear, powerful voice. Aimee and Stephy sang too.....and yes, Steph, you can sing. The audience on the couch with me included Myko, JayChan and Frank. When it came time for me to leave, Frank, always the gentleman, walked me to my car. Which reminds me.....parking has been easy for me at BGL, a big plus. Both times I have parked in the lot right in front. I left BGL with a smile, feeling peaceful and appreciated. First Off ! Thanks Donk for kicking me in the head. I'm glad you set me straight, that mule kick got me to put my priorities in order, and write a review on this gem of a place. Secondly, this has become one of my favorite places to come for the past month. I'll tell ya why: A) - Super cool people behind the bar, D'Angello is the man, I mentioned my P.E. locker combo to him and he totally remembered it the next time he saw me...Arigato. Emily is like the coolest bartender in the place. She greets me warmly every time she sees me...which is like 3 - 4 times a week...sheesh, rest the liver ! ! Doug is like super chill, I mean he's gotta be an assassin, cuz he just observes ya, makes a comment and is cool and collected the whole time. B) - The place is sooo unassuming, I mean it looks like a shit brick house on the outside, but inside is where the magic is. The decor is eclectic, like an industrial lounge. Expose brick walls w/ metal drop lights and fine leather couches. The bar itself is like a brass top w/ metal railings, kinda reminds me of a choo choo train...I'm aboard the bar fly express w/ Rick W. as my apprentice. And you gotta love a place so chill and unpretentious, that they have a huggable size Eeyore sitting on top of their cigar machine packed w/ fine examples of going rate cigars. I think I'll drop a cupa quarters in it next time. C) - The layout of the place is really cool, they have this upstairs section, which we monkeys got to look down on the action and a lot of people, literally and figuratively ! Nice place to people watch. The side room is nice and inviting, kinda place that will get rumors started and will def. arch some eyebrows! The dance floor...uh...missing. Good ! ! Who wants to see people bump n' grind to a crazy mix of music that will have 'em hot n' bothered one song, and awkward and sweaty on the next track. Go somewhere else to do that ! (But it's good to know that, there's just enough room to get you're freak on, if you find that special someone....just saying.) D) - They have a Karaoke machine....now now now...before I say anything else, Doug has been accommodating on letting us sing on nights that some of the yelp monkeys are there and the vibe is tolerant of us hacks. But don't go expecting him to put it on, just cuz "I'm the boss of you, you work hard for ME !" If the vibe is chill and you wanna shriek, you'll chase the other coolies away...so don't bust it up, ya dig ! Anywho, that's the rundown of it. I'm pretty sure this place will get better with time for me. I dig the chill vibe and I like the people who come here. And more conveniently just mere blocks from my pad. Great people make a great bar! Came here for the Top Chef UYE and had a fun time. Very lax bar and everyone there was so friendly. Met some awsome yelpers and the owner Doug was super cool. "It's time..." BGL is a Yelp institution. It's not a 100 year old historical landmark but it's definitely the place to be initiated into the Yelp community. So, it's time for a Yelper to Yelp the Yelp Institution. Tucked into the corner next to a leather shoe repair store and a fake chanel clothes store, BGL is a non-descript brick building that reminds me of the house of bricks from the "Three Little Pigs." The parking may be small but you can easily make due accross the street, on the side street, and at the "hidden spot." Sorry, not sharing that because if I did, then I couldn't park there again. BGL is true to it's humble Yelp roots with an owner (Doug) who did his original market research on Yelp. You'll have to become his friend if you want to hear the story. BGL is not only the home to Yelpers but also hosts private parties. There are no hoity-toity party promoters here... With scattered leather couches and a Korean/Japanese/English karaoke machine, BGL is comfortably fun. There's a second floor balcony to look down for the trolls and cushy bar stools. Looks closely enough and the soft orange ambient glow doesn't hide the phallic secrets well... Yesterday, I had VIP leather seats to watch the Lakers lose in Game 1 to the Celtics. It really is a great venue to watch sports because you can either be in the game up close or hide by the bar and talk. One person (and you know who you are) would say that I really did have the best seat in the house.... I've been to BGL for sports games, karaoke, casual drinking, casual uye's, and more...The bartenders are like old school chums and are just down-to-earth (Johnny, you really have the best voice for With or Without you...) BGL and Yelp Family, it's like the home you always want to go to and never leave to be with the people that actually can put up with you.... Nice! Hip and unpretentious, this lounge is intimate enough to feel cozy yet the decor is swanky as well. Dark, with blue and red lighting, a couple of rooms, leather couches and an outside patio. Great place to hang out, really good use of the space, this place is at it's potential. Don't let Paris or Lindsay in on it, and it'll be alright. The bartenders are cute and nice, too. They treat the customers well and gather up the empty glasses quickly. You can also food order from the good thai restaurant across the street, they'll deliver it. Plenty of parking, with free parking lot in the front. Lively 80's music, karaoke is available, more english songs in the song book would be good. Very comfortable vibe, this chick grab the mike and announced, "Where's my drink??!! Great job, Doug! Showed up last night randomly for my first time and was immediately welcomed like I had gone there 1000 times before. The music was a touch loud but at least it was Dre and other good hip hop tunes. Plenty of seating but I was at the bar, right where I wanted to be, amongst good friends I already knew and ones I had just met. It's that kind of place -- cool, yet warm. This place is in the cuts!!! From the outside, you would never know this chill a$$ lounge exist. Upon entering, it's like entering the twilight zone, the decor is sick!!! Like the name suggests, it's a LOUNGE. I was fortunate to experience UYE at this spot. Thanks to Caroline Y. she organized this so that this visitor from NASHVEGAS can experience what a true yelping experience is like. I must admit, I had a blast. Unfortunately, I was tired and had to bust a CAROLINE, AKA, NINJA BOUNCE, meaning I just left. lol I love you CAROLINE Y. =:o) Doug, the owner, and a fellow yelper did a great job hosting the spot. The fruit plate was delicious, did you cut them yourself? hahaha, Thanks. Ok, let's go back to the review. The place is decked out w/ some comfy couches where people can... yes, LOUNGE. haha. I really dig the brick walls and the blue light in the bar area. I also like the upstairs area. You can go up there and peep out the folks getting drunk or spy on that person you think looks good. hahaha Oh, I like the room to the left from the entrance, it's an open area for peeps to chill. I held my boyfriend's 25th birthday here. After reading all of the reviews, I just assumed that I could bring a bunch of cupcakes, and take over the kareoke, without warning (Sorry, Doug!) But Doug and his crew were extremely accommodating and fun! It worked out well, though. We found parking outside in the front lot, although there is plenty of parking on the streets. It's easily overlooked outside, but once you walk in, it's amazing! There are leather, cozy couches everywhere, and the lighting made a chummy atmosphere. There's an extensive common area, a private room, and an all-inclusive upstairs loft. It's a total opposite of the exterior, so you must go inside! The mixed drinks were strong, and the beers were cold. They can make anything you want. I don't think there was a big selection of beer, however. My friends were sipping on Sierra Nevadas and Pyramids. At least they were cold. The Gin & Sprite burned so good. When I closed my tab, I was surprised to how inexpensive it was for all of the drinks I ordered, but some of my friends thought it was too much. The bathrooms are in this hall. The women's room was cramped, but it was fine. I never got caught in a line. There's a smoking patio outside. Doug let us use the Kareoke in exchange for cupcakes, but because we didn't email them beforehand, we had to wait closer to closing. So, EMAIL DOUG for KAREOKE!!! Overall, all of his friends were impressed and my boyfriend had an amazing 25th Birthday!! I referred my sister here, and she had her boyfriend's birthday here as well- it turned out perfect! I visited once before, because I saw amazing reviews on Yelp. My girlfriends and I went and checked it out. There were no lines, no cover and no problems with parking. The people were nice and the music selection was great. Now this Friday I'm having my Birthday and I'm really excited. -After my Birthday I had so much fun here on my Birthday. Located on the Sunset blvd, this local gem has been the home of the infamous downtown LA UYE* gatherings. With over eighty reviews and numerous Yelp photos (including Buttercheek's mass e-mail invitation), it was more than enough to convince me to visit last Friday night. Since we (Ron Jeremy and I) arrived at 10:30PM from Ontario airport, we still had enough time to catch the LA Yelpers. Upon our arrival with Jedi Chris at 11:30PM, we had no idea that the person that greeted us at the door was Doug - the owner. "Why didn't you say something man?!!!" As we entered, I immediately recognized Mama Yelp Joan S, the recently implanted Christopher S., and her highness - Ti. Hence on this night was the first of many future North meets South Yelp gatherings! Scuffed wood bar, exposed brick walls, and a restored cement atrium create a comfortable backdrop for this unique downtown lounge. Karaoke opportunities abound at the intimidating wide screen TV and an open seating for the brave souls that take the glorious risk. Across the way was the intimate privacy room with white sofa seating and unique faux finished walls. This secluded spot offered a safe haven for those that feared the open mic. On the second floor loft, which boasts a skyline view of the lounge, Yelpers and groups of friends can crowd around swivel like bar stools to catch a glimpse of their "Favorites". The open patio provided enough room and bamboo privacy screens for all nicotine cravers and their hand in hand cocktails. Whether or not you know the hot bartender, Emily, you can expect to get a friendly welcome and honest opinion if she can make your favorite cocktail or not. In this case, she wasn't able to make my "Snake Bite" so I opted for the jack and coke. I won't take away any stars here simply because I trust an honest bartender rather a drink filled with ice and overpowering liquor. But I expect them to add it to the bar list in the near future. well i came here with a few friends on a friday nite and was kinda surprised to see it was kinda dead. BUT, i was a bit relieved because it was a good change of pace from the typical crowded bars with drunken tards talking so loud that deaf people would tell them to stfu, lol. the place was very chill, just a few people singing karaoke and enjoying a few rounds with friends. there were plenty of couches to chill on as people attempted to sing pop songs and cheesy love songs. this is definitely a nice place to bring a few friends to unwind after a long week. i also got to meet the owner and played a bit of poker for my friend as i heard someone belt out "you're all i ever wanted, you're all i ever needed, yea, so tell me what to do now, cuz i want you back". backstreet's back, not right. lol. read more

So I came here after reading many rave reviews and a lot of yelpers gathering here for binge drinking, I mean socializing... Let's see, I rolled up in the Black Widow 35 dollars on drinks 80 dollars on the cab ride back home And the Black Widow? She spent the night at BGL... Look, it's a dive bar that has karaoke. Cool. But man, the owner/bartender is a DICK. We brought about 15 people (of 20 in the bar) and the guy basically threatened to close the bar because we weren't buying enough drinks. Except EVERYONE was buying drinks. And then we got yelled at for trying to get a group photo and someone sitting on the back of the couch. Straight out behind the bar with a flashlight in our faces to get off. Used to be a fun spot to end the night but that's changed. Would not recommend anymore. read more

Sat outside in the parking lot at 10pm. Thoughts racing through my mind. What a shady exterior. Is there really a lounge here? Is the guy at the bus stop going to whip out a gun. Can we park here without getting towed? No crowd, no line, nobody going in. OK. So we were a little early for a bday party on Saturday night as most did not arrive till 11p, and this place is pretty nondescript on the exterior, as mentioned by a previous review. The interior is really nice, kind of small, a bar or lounge I'd expect out of SD or SF. Brick walls, leather couches, creepy candlestick/chandelier lighting on the walls, upstairs, side areas, bar. At the end of the night, the place did pretty much fill up with people celebrating the bday parties. The drinks were not cheap for such a non-bougie scene. At least 10$ and it was something ridiculous like $8 for a beer. The bartenders were a little shady with the amount of alcohol. But it's perfect to celebrate here with a big group. read more

The big question of Yelp is a simple one: Are you here to acquire information or divulge it? Meaning are you here to find new places or to brag about the places you know about already? I mean, I guess one could (rightfully) say "Both, dummy!" ... but one has to lean in one direction or the other. Because, well, these are the only two reasons to be on this now-publicly-traded website. Well, allow me to take the high road and donate some oh-so-awesome info for those who are here to pilfer: The Blue Goose Lounge is a GEM. Well, lemme get a bit more specific, because that is a bit too all-encompassing. If you are a dude (or lady, no discrimination here) looking for a great place to meet a lady/man: do not go here. If you are new in town and just want to find some new pals: do not go here. If you want a dive: nope. If you want to dance and let loose: sorry. No, the BGL has one specific awesome quality: IT IS ALWAYS FUCKING EMPTY. I have been there numerous times and it's a ghost town. Like 6 people are in there. It's insane: this place obviously had a lot of money dumped into it. It's big, pretty, well designed, super cool. There is no reason this place is empty. Harvard & Stone is a block away and it has a line on a Thursday. Why did the BGL get the short end of the popularity stick? It's a mystery. Well, what am I talking about when I say "it's a GEM"? Easy: you want a fun place to have a birthday party, can't afford to rent out a bar or a section, want it to be littered with mostly your guests: this is your jam. I think I planned two or three friend's birthday parties here and it went SWIMMINGLY. That's right, SWIMMINGLY. I think the random non-party related people that showed up numbered less than 10. And you can easily fit 150 people in this bar. "But isn't that cheating?" You ask. "Isn't that, like, renting it out without paying the price?" Well, sort of, I guess, but lemme ask you: WHY ON EARTH WOULD A BUSINESS EVER CARE IF YOU ARE BRINGING IN A BUNCH OF PAYING CUSTOMERS? Let's do math: 10 customers buying 4 drinks each vs. 70 customers PLUS the original 10 who stayed anyway buying 4 drinks each. Which way is the bar making more money? Dude, the bartender was so stoked he bought me a drink. But: do be warned, the place COULD be packed. Unlikely, but it could be packed. Or it could be rented out (that has happened). Just call ahead of time and tell them you were planning on coming on whatever date and see if they are open. Like a much hyped up blind date, BGL left me a tad let down. Perhaps I had really high expectations and when my circuits were not fried from the amazing awesome-ness of it all - i felt kinda "meh". Interior is nicely done, i really like what was done with the space and the "white couch room" reserved for parties was glam enough to let a birthday person hold court, yet relaxed enough you could bring a group of buddies here to chill. Outside there is a smoking patio for all you that like to puff, puff, puff. Upstairs there is a loft area for another group gathering spot but be warned, I heard it can get warm when the place fills up (heat rises ya'll). The boyfriend's first drink came out with a swiftness but wait-time to place an order increased exponentially as the night wore on. The one vod/tonic I had was nice and strong but I got a lot of ice for the price. It was a bit dinky. : ( Granted there was a bartender who was subbing in that evening so perhaps it was a one time thing. Restrooms were clean. Music was loud (yet no one was dancing: SADNESS). Dress code is relaxed, you can rock jeans here if you so desire, just keep it classy. No cover. Street parking can be had in the neighborhood behind the lounge. The company of super-awesome yelpers is always 5 stars. BGL itself left me a bit underwhelmed. Its just a tad too far for this west-side chick to go without a dance-floor. read more

I love places like this. From the outside you think, "what the hell!?" Then u walk in and you go, "wow, this is nice!" I love the decor inside. It still has a freshly constructed "wood" smell to it but it grows on you and you forget all about after a minute or two. Its dark but bright enough to see the eyes and faces of your chilling companions. They have these nice leather sectional sofas that are soooo nice and comfy. Almost makes you want to kick off your shoes and lay back, did i just say almost? i mean, i took off my shoes and kicked back on the couch :P I can see this place being a perfect place to come and unwind have a few drinks and have a jolly ol time with friends. Thanks to Linden G. for putting on a great UYE and Doug D. for hosting an awesome event. My first time to BGL. I hardly hardly EVER venture out to Hollywood, so there's probably a TON of places on Sunset I haven't been to. Parking is on the street, but that's expected in Hollywood. The door is actually off to the side and it's very non-descript, almost low key, like they don't want people to know where the entrance is and make you walk around confused for 10 minutes. But once you get inside, it's nicely decorated. Nothing extravagant but just nice and simple. I like the blue lighting of the shelves behind the bar. A couple of couches scattered throughout and a staircase leading to a small balcony so you can be a pervert and look down women's shirts from above. Not that I did that nor would I, I'm just saying. I actually didn't go up there though, so I couldn't tell you how things looked. When we first got there, there was a just a few yelpers there but more showed up over the next 30 minutes. Just a really great time meeting new friends, chatting about food, all while drinking! Speaking of drinking, the drinks were made just right and were moderately priced. I ended up paying about 30 bux (not including tip) for 4 or 5 drinks. Great to finally meet Linden, Amy K, and Kristy... and the others. You guys are awesome!! Then finally when the show started, it was hilarious because we kept making comments throughout the show. I went here for my cousin's birthday. This is your typical dive bar. I thought it was strange that I saw "3 for $5 tacos" signs everywhere. We got the "private" room upstairs for the party. We got "bottle service" and I put a parenthesis because there was no service. The bartender brought us our bottle of GREY GOOSE (my drink of choice) and never attended to us again. It was an "out of sight, out of mind" ordeal. I had a grrreat time, soley due to my inebriation. NOW, the reason why they get 1 star. The owner (Doug) that everyone is raving about are probably his friends. He was everything but a good host/business owner. What business owner blames his patrons for allegedly taking his stupid Eeyore doll that is sentimental? First off, why the hell would you keep something sentimental in a bar? Not only does he accuse us of stealing, but complains about our mess. HELLO!!! Earth to BAR OWNER, thats what happens @ bars when people get drunk! He also compalined about the tip. All in all, this place SUCKKKKS! This place is a dump! NOTE: the interior looks like a bar in the boon fuck of nowhere,Indiana. Oh, and the "3 for $5 tacos" tasted like ass! Things I learned at BGL. Don't judge a book by its cover. Strip mall doesnt always equal lame. There are still nice bartenders in Hollywood. (Hi Emily!) Greg can actually pull off a pink cowgirl hat, but Chico looks better in it! Amy and Linden should start a lounge act. Rick R. has really pretty eyes, and Rick W. has great skin. Edward B. is a black hearted cur, dark to the core. Victoria looks really cute in bunny ears. Mike L. is so much taller than I expected. Jill can SING, oh yes, she can sing. Joan S. knows how to shake her moneymaker. Christopher S. has the most amazing facial control, ever. Being the DD isn't so bad. Epic events indeed. See photos. read more
