Came here to meet up with a friend on a Tuesday night for some drinks. I liked the overall layout of this bar and how nice it was in the back. What I didn't like was the service. The bartender was so caught up with people he knows or just chatting up with others that it took some time to get a drink. Even for a night where there wasn't that many people at the bar. Service did eventually get better. Ive been to almost all the bars in Hollywood. This one has been around for a while. Worth a quick check out. read more

What a gem. This bar has been here for 80 years; at this point it's a piece of Hollywood history. Cheap drinks, great to hit up for happy hour. Staff is awesome, and the crowd is always cool as hell too. read more

Hadn't been to Power House in over twenty years, and decided to drop in with a couple friend the other night. 11:30 on a weeknight. We walked in and immediately felt like we belonged. The bartender was just the right amount of friendly, the drinks were good, and even though we were in the heart of Hollywood, we didn't feel like we were getting ripped off If I lived closer, this would become my new hang! Used to love this place. But because of one of the security guards who abandoned one of the best bartenders its gone to shit. I went in tonight the bartender was mediocre and decided it was not only cute to disregard patrons but to be rude to a disabled patron nah. The man behind the bar tonight was slow. There was about 15 to 20 people there. I bartend that's nothing. I do high end craft. It should not take 20 mins and having to be flagged down to pour a jameson on the rocks. He was not nice he was rude and he clearly did not know the locals his attitude towards a wheelchair bound patron I was about to fight him but I held back and left. Never do that. Do not disregard people just because they are in a wheelchair or automatic chair. That is so gross. I can't get that outta my head. I'm so disgusted by their treatment of my friend who is a local fixture and everyone knows for decade longer than I been in la. Bartendress was kind and friendly. It was happy hour on a Monday, one block from the busy intersection on Hollywood and Highland. After a Google search for BEER, we came across this PowerHouse adjacent to a Chinese restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. Good music playing, light bulbs were on at each booth in the City of Lights. Overwhelmingly impressed by how clean the women's restroom was. There were two TP rolls, and one rolls was set under, the other set over. And the sticker on the trash can read: Death to False Metal. The clientele at this time mostly kept to themselves and the booth we sat at was comfy in velvet. If you ever need to stop for ONE BEER while your parking meter time runs, this place is a good choice. read more

Came here for an end of the day drink and conversation. Typical dive bar from yesteryear. Bartender was friendly. I enjoyed a local kolsch. Would have preferred a vienna lager but that wasn't available. Inside is dark and cool. Music is playing (kind of loud). read more

What a cool neighborhood bar smack dab in the middle of Hollywood. There's one bar with plenty of seating. I came with friends and we had a drink to finish off our afternoon. Since we came in the afternoon it was fairly empty, but within half an hour it was filling up. read more

Joe the bartender is super nice. Chill place right off Hollywood that doesn't look like much, but is exactly the right combination of dive bar and not full on dive bar. Few tourists, more local-ish. Prices are all reasonable for location, and better than some other nearby establishments. Darts out back cinches the five stars for me, but please upgrade the boards to Blade 5 or 6! read more

I absolutely love this bar, it's a great dive bar, dimly lit, the and the bartenders are so cool there. The music is great and everytime I go there's always a good crowd. They don't have food so it's not a place to grab a late night snack, but I go because the bartenders are amazing and I love hanging out after work. I'd definitely recommend it. read more

Watch your credit cards here! Ours was comprised after getting a drink here last week. We know it was compromised here because after we left the bar there was another charge there later that night. We had our physical card on us so someone had to somehow take the card information after we gave it to the bartender. They then racked up $9000 in charges at online stores. Beware! read more

My husband & I were just there on Saturday to watch our son's band perform. We loved it immediately. It's small, but that's part of what makes it such a good vibe in there. By the end of the night you're friends with everyone there. The lighting is perfect. Nice and dark. The drinks are delicious. Super reasonably priced to boot! Awesome selection of signature drinks. We had a great time chatting with Kate the bartender. Hi Kate! Both her and Kwame are the bees knees. The cherry on top? There was a long haired in-house chihuahua. Does it get any better? Nope. Can't wait to go back. If you're visiting LA or looking for what I will call an elevated dive bar, give Powerhouse a visit. You won't regret it. Cheers! read more

Great little bar in Hollywood, about a 10 min walk from the Hollywood Bowl. Went there after a Phish show so it was a bit packed with phans, but we snagged a booth and were happy. The place has a cool inviting vibe and the service was fast. read more

I would not recommend Power House. I came in on a Friday night, after an event across the street. I understand that it's a dive bar, but this was below standard. My first attempt at getting a drink, I was blocked because there were four dogs (one dog was not on a leash) at the bar. It's already a small space between the booths and the counter, so four dogs take up a lot of space. The bar had an unpleasant odor, as well. The crowd was small, and the music was loud. I ordered a cocktail (my first option was not available) and drank it towards the back of the bar. I left after one quick drink, and I don't plan on going back. read more

Powerhouse is my fav Hollywood Bar!!! I've been here maybe like 10 times & I always have a very good time. Divey feel, very chill & dark. I love the music! Not too loud where you have to be screaming while talking to someone & not too quiet to make it boring...it's just perfect! The bartender is so sweet, she is very nice! Makes great mojitos! I love the feel of this place, there are booths available or bar seats...my fav room is in the back, they have a huge Jenga which I always enjoy playing. Everyone is friendly! I have made a couple of Instagram, Snapchat friends here lol :) Located on Hollywood & Highland I highly recommend this bar. I always park in the big Parking lot on Highland but there is also street parking available. FREE POPCORN! :) read more

This was a cute little gem in Hollywood that I had a great time in! When you go in it's pretty dark and they have these little lights around the bar that give it a warm relaxing vibe. Something that really stood out to me was that they provide everyone with complimentary popcorn which I think is super unique and great pairing with mixed drinks and beer. Something that really bothered me was that there were some pervs at the bar that wouldn't stop giving inappropriate looks to the female bartender which made me feel uncomfortable for her. read more

I came here on Friday night because my friend said they were having a Girl Power party and I have to say... I had the best time EVER! We spent the night singing all of our favorite 90s dance hits and enjoying the fun atmosphere (they had candy, slap bracelets, bubbles and a specialty pink cocktail with glitter!) Bartenders Kate and Taylor were absolutely incredible and made the night that much more fun. I cannot wait to go back and I highly recommend it! read more

Walked in to this place and had to wait for the unattentive bartnder to decide she wanted to help us after checking her phone and talking to other people and not about making their drink. Later we move to ordering a classic Margarita. I am an avid drinker of Margarita's and pretty sure I know what a good one tastes like. This was not only the "WORST" margarita I've ever had, It was so bad I couldn't drink it. I told the bartender and she resorted to spraying tonic or something that made it no better. Her response was "At least you know there's booze in it". Disgusting! I couldn't even stomach it. I do "NOT" write bad reviews or reviews at all for that matter. This means extreme dissapointment. After posting my review and pictures, I got a very nice response from the manager on Monday and then on Tuesday two very dear friends who are twins invited me to their birthday party that Friday night at the Lemon Grove where one of the sister's daughters is the DJ. We had half of the entire roof for a great party with wonderful friends meeting new people, some DJing and dancing and a marvelous server who remembered not only my name from the prior Sunday, but also that I was gluten intolerant and brought me a menu I could select from while she was taking care of over 50 people. And as you can tell I am so shy and demure to boot. She was fantastic, and the food I ordered: GF Lemon Pasta and 1/2 dozen oysters while sharing the Brussels Sprouts, were all superb. Since we were a large group, we got to try a good portion of the menu, and honestly, everything we ordered was good. The prices were fair as well, especially considering the location and rooftop experience. The reason I'm taking off a star is the service toward the end of the evening. About 30 minutes before closing, our server kept returning to the table, and we started to feel rushed. He also made a few sarcastic comments that seemed intended as jokes, but they didn't come across that way to our group. Overall, the food, atmosphere, and value were all great. I would definitely consider coming back, but I hope the end-of-service experience is handled a little differently next time.

Ordered the espresso martini and vibed out. I do believe they should carry more music selections with some updates to more legendary artists considering it is a vinyl bar.
