However, once we sat down and looked at the menu, the "sticker shock" hit hard: * Price Hikes: Almost every item on the menu had increased by about $5. * The Missing Special: Their signature taco deal ($10 for three tacos with rice, beans, and salad) has been completely scrapped. * The Bottom Line: I'm a fan of the flavors here, but paying $65 for tacos for three people is a dealbreaker for me !!! We went to the Blue Habanero for dinner tonight and had an awesome experience. The staff was incredibly friendly. The atmosphere really stood out great vibe, thoughtful decor, and clear attention to detail throughout the space. The food matched the experience. Nothing was drowning in sauce, which I appreciated. You can tell the staff puts real care into the cooking. The flavors were well-balanced, textures were exactly what you'd expect from the variety we ordered, and everything felt intentional. There's a noticeable level of pride behind the food here. Definitely a place I'll be coming back to next time I'm craving tacos or Hispanic food. read more

We received moved to Ohio from El Paso Tx, and have been on the hunt for some good Queso Birria like we had in Texas. This was our 3rd time trying Birria and this place hit the spot, and has been the closest to what we had back in El Paso! The restaurant is very vibrant and I loved the artwork! My wife and I were in Canton, Ohio, for the Women's Football Alliance Championship game (spoiler alert, we won!). On our first night in Canton, we went to Blue Habanero for what the reviews said was delicious food, and we were not disappointed. In the evening, the lights in the restaurant make it as though you are in a beautiful, blue underwater world. The paintings are stunning and the décor hanging from the ceilings is equally as beautiful. The aroma of food overwhelms your senses as soon as you walk in and the servers were attentive and kind.   We ordered the Trio Sampler and I got the Tacos La Paz with fried fish and added my own cotija cheese. My wife ordered the Burrito Azteca and while I did not try it - they said it was very good, an 8.5/10.   Trio Sampler 8/10 - The chips were warm and had good flavor on their own, the queso was good, the salsa was fresh, and so was the guacamole. I would consider this to be the standard when going to any authentic restaurant - there weren't any overly exciting flavors. Tacos La Paz 9/10 - These tacos were filling and delicious. I really enjoyed the freshness of the cabbage and pico against the crunch of the fish along with the chipotle sauce. The rice was also so damn good. read more

Ate here last week before an event at the First Ladies library downtown. Lots of authentic dishes to choose from. The waitress was awesome. Food was amazing! Both my friends dinner and mine were delicious and plenty to eat. The margarita was ok. You could tell it was from a mix. Was not bad at all just have had better. The salt on the rim had slid down the glass and was rather light but otherwise the dinner was a success. At 5pm the place began to fill up! I will definitely go back. They had items I have never seen and price range was great. Large choice of appetizers also. The restaurant is really cute lots of paintings on the walls that I have never seen. Lots of booths also. Five Jiu Jitsu brethren came in on a Friday evening and got right in. The service was quick and the food was brought out within 12-15 minutes of ordering. Clean bathrooms, which is always a positive. The food was great! Was going to take a pic of the menu, but the menu is simply too expansive. Plenty to choose from. I had the corner tacos with white cilantro rice and it was perfect. The place was pretty busy and also plenty vibey. They put a little more effort than your typical Mexican restaurant does as far as the decor of the restaurant. Will be back for sure. read more

Second time here and really enjoy the quality of food. One of my favorite bites this year has been their chorizo Fireballs which include minced chorizo, jalapeno, and cream cheese before being deep fried with a chipotle ranch dipping sauce. We were very excited to try this place as the menu seemed right up my alley. Atmosphere: It is a very cute place on the inside. Our server was very very nice and sweet. She took our drink orders and our appetizer order (which was just queso) and a nice young man brought our dip and margaritas. My margarita on the rocks was pretty good. Nothing to write home about but not too bad. My partner's frozen margarita was terrible she said. I did not volunteer to try it. Food: I wanted to make sure I knew what I was getting because some places make their taquitos differently. I asked if the taquitos came with melted cheese on top or if I needed to get chimichangas. After trying to rephrase my question, I thought I had gotten my answers. We placed our orders (and sorry about no pictures of the food, I was busy getting my order corrected). My food came and it was absolutely zero percent of what I ordered or what the waitress and I discussed I was looking for. My partner got fajitas and she said they were good. But I sat there with no food while she was eating away. My corrected food came back and although it had the fillings and toppings I originally wanted, the chicken in the taquitos/chimichangas was just weird... it was almost like BBQ pulled chicken. It was just not good at all. Overall: Needless to say, I ended up not eating and getting fast food on the way home. I was really disappointed by my experience at Blue Habanero. After waiting over 30-45 minutes for my Taco Tuesday order, the manager told me they don't do samples, so I couldn't try the alcoholic ice cream before purchasing. I originally ordered a margarita and had no issues with that, but I was told I couldn't get the discounted Taco Tuesday deal to go unless I paid full price. The manager basically told me to cancel my order and leave, and I couldn't help but feel overlooked, especially as a Black woman. I hope they can work on being more inclusive and consistent because I really wanted to enjoy my meal. read more

My wife and I stopped in on Taco Tuesday. We were asked how many by the host. No greeting, no smile, over here. The waiter was prompt with no greeting no smile and no chips and salsa. Took our drink order and asked if we wanted an appetizer. Drinks showed up and wanted to order tacos for the special. He told us the special doesn't include the meat or seafood tacos. Fun place to get great margaritas and food to share. We started off with the Top Shelf margaritas ($15/each) which are pricey but big and fresh made. We also ordered the trio sampler since they don't provide your "all you can eat" typical chips and salsa for free. Service was great but we were there around 1:30ish so not many people seated. I suspect they are more busy at dinner time. We ordered our main meal- I got tacos al pastor which we're good but had a different flavor than expected. First time here with my wife and I doing date night on a Saturday evening. The location isn't in the best area. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in with the decor and aesthetics. We arrived around 6:00 pm and the place was only 20% full. Lots of open seating with a grand spacious bar. We were presented with a very extensive menu with many options. FYI- I was assuming Chips & Salsa was automatically coming out as a gratis service but after asking , there was a charge which wasn't much. We began our evening with two cocktails because that's what everyone had on their table. These margaritas were massive structures with a refined garnish on each drink. 50% of the margarita glass was ice so it finished quickly. I appreciated the ice as they were both very sweet, so for every sip of my cocktail I took 3 sips of water. Our Chips and Salsa arrived very quickly: The chips were slightly warm and thicker than chips at Taco z bell and the salsa came in two Mexican lava bowls. The salsa was mild and chilled which at first surprised me as I was expecting room temperature salsa. Our entrees hit the spot for each of us. I was trying to avoid carbs so I stayed away from the refried beans and rice but my wife ate mine and hers also. Anytime I find Tres Leches cake on a menu I order. This cake did not disappoint. I could have done without the chocolate drizzle, but the base tres leches cake was so good, I ordered another slice to go with the intent eat it tomorrow, knowing it's not going to make it past midnight. All in all we enjoyed everything. Our waiter was great. My wife was drunk and even spilled her drink half way through, but our server took it like a champ. Overall very positive experience. The tacos I had were amazing, and so were the drinks. My wife had trouble finding something for her to eat since she doesn't eat meat, onions or garlic. It's a challenge many places. She ended up getting a salad, which she said was vet good, but a different Mexican place we usually go to makes vegetable fajitas which she likes better. The chips were tasty, and I saw somewhere that they use non-GMO corn which is fantastic. The 2 complaints about that is they don't do complimentary chips and salsa... and many of the chips were small and broken crumbs. I wouldn't hesitate to go back if it was just me based on the delicious tacos and drinks... but I have a feeling my wife will veto. read more

One of my favorite spots to go to. Menu hits all the expected and a few specialty items not found at most Mexican places. The décor is beautiful and adds to the experience. Food is terrific and the black beans are definitely a must try. Cocktails seem to rotate with plenty of choices, can't go wrong with any. Coco Loco being my favorite. Service is very friendly too. Main drawback is having to pay for chips and salsa. Although a small detail, it's a tough sell to patrons when every other Mexican joint brings them out gratis. The prices are on the high side for sure. Inability to mix and match tacos is a turn off for some too. Being a Boricua I truly hope this place makes it long term!
