Great service, was told it would be a 30 minute wait, waited 10, excellent in my opinion. Chickens running around for entertainment and I'm sure what scraps people dropped or fed them. Food was delish, I had the granola, fruit and yogurt which seemed homemade and tasted yummy. My husband had two eggs, sausage and grits with banana bread, his banana bread was dry mine was moist and very light texture. The food here is filling and delicious as well as having beautiful presentation. We had a lovely evening with a gentle breeze, so sitting in the semi-outdoors was nice. We liked the music. The entertainer was unique and not too loud, so we could talk. He played an acoustic version of Black Sabbath's Crazy Train that was awesome because I didn't recognize it until he got to the chorus. Waiters here are not hired FOR attitude, they are hired if they HAVE AN attitude. What kind of waiter serves a piece of black burned toast as a side? Who says when asked soup of the day -it's on the menu. The table tilted about 10 degrees, the waiter had to literally catch the candle sliding across the table. No new table, no wedge, no adjustment. Best meal while in the Keys! This is a perfect spot for any occasion, while it's a casual place the atmosphere is very nice as the night comes in and they have live music to bring it all together. The bartender makes some flavorful drinks which were also the best while in the Keys (not the usual Tiki sweetness). I've been frequenting blue heaven for the past 23 years. Long ago I stopped seeking it out, about when the second location of the owners opened. Very few restaurants seem to be able to maintain the same baseline when branching out, blue heaven did not escape these. Tonight we ended up there, full up at my establishment of actual choice. While not expecting anything amazing I was expecting something that would pique my taste, maybe a specially concocted special or just a delightfully yummy meal. I mean that seems like a basic expectation given the history of the establishment, price and reputation. ~$40 for the snapper plate off the menu. Let's ignore the fact it's been on the menu with this same preparation for over 20 years, or let's not (it should be good if they have had it in rotation for over 20 years). Ehh at best. A sad piece of fish with the bloodline still in it. Besides being small and appearing sad it was either not local or not fresh, you pick. Ehh is being nice. Pasta and corn was pretty good, but let's be honest I did't come for the pasta or two spoonfuls of corn. Husband ordered the ~$50 black grouper special. Fish was good, fresh. Sides, I'm not sure where to begin. White rice some bok choy spinach sauté. No flavor, no sauce. Its never been a place that had great service but it's taken the next step, you should feel privileged just to be there. The waiter seemed super bored to even have to explain the specials, provided a level of service that even a French restaurant would call sub par. On a recommendation from another restauranteur, we stopped in here one night last week to pick up a couple slices of key lime pie to-go. This is a really interesting restaurant spot with an inner courtyard where I believe all (or the majority) of patrons are seated and served. There was a live band playing when we came in and we were told to go to the bar to order the key lime pies. The bar staff were friendly but I can't imagine it's easy work for them as he had to leave to go to the main kitchen and pack up the two pieces and then come back (sorry to the other patrons who couldn't get refills while he was tending to us!). The key lime pie was really nice and they put a ton of meringue on the top such that it looks like the sail of a sailboat (very unique!). Can't say what the rest of the menu is like, but dessert was great! read more

This place was so overrated. My husband and I both got the shrimp Benedict since we had read so many great reviews. This was bland and underwhelming. My husband was pretty sure his side of bacon had been cooked much earlier and left to sit around for a while as it was cold and rubbery. It took a while to come out, but the service was very friendly and accommodating throughout. The food though was kinda average - shrimp didn't have standout flavor, and the sides were also mid flavor. The corn was probably the tastiest part of the plate. For the price point, I'm not entirely sure for the entree I got it was worth it, but the location and ambiance are pretty nice. It was a slightly busy night so my wait was more than a few minutes, but the staff was friendly. The bar area is dimly lit and has a decent amount of seating available. Definitely felt cozy! We went at 9:30 just for dessert. We saw only the outdoor area because we went to the bar. It's a really cool environment--they have all these colored lights and plants--it definitely matches the name. A lot of the signage is pretty funny too. the key lime pie is so photogenic. it was pretty good--my sister said it was her favorite we had. the banana pudding foster thing was pretty good but not what i was expecting. the bread pudding was just banana bread in the foster sauce. the star of the show was definitely the key lime martini--it was so delicious and not too sweet--perfectly balanced and the alcohol didn't overpower the drink and make it taste nasty. We chose this as our first breakfast spot while visiting Key West. I think what I loved most was sitting outside under the trees and umbrellas, and watching the chicks and roosters run around. The service seemed a bit slow, but that seemed to be the running theme while we were in town. Nothing was fast. Breakfast was good. I was pleasantly surprised that my grits were well seasoned and creamy. Most places seem to make them bland and watery. I sampled some of my husband's breakfast potatoes and those were yummy! It was a nice portion of steak but a bit overcooked. My sister had the Loaded Bowl which was also good but not a lot of flavor. It was supposed to have Avocado but there was none in the bowl. The famous Key Lime Pie is worth the hype. The perfect combination of sweet and tart with a 2 inch meringue on top, very unique and taste very good! The atmosphere was elevated by the live music, creating a lively and enjoyable key west vibe. All of the staff members were extremely friendly which added to the overall charm. What an amazing restaurant from service, atmosphere and food! First time here and we were so impressed by the food. We had the caribbean barbecue shrimp, yellowtail snapper with pasta, and a kids meal of 3 large shrimps with rice, beans, cornbread nuggets, and fruit. Our little one for being so picky enjoyed every bite of her food and even ate off our plates. My husband and I loved our plates so much that we left our plates clean. Food was outstanding! Looking at the restaurant from the front, it looks small until you walk past the bar and realize nuts how big the courtyard is. There is a giant tree in the middle with tables and art on the walls surrounding. Our waiter was really nice and offered his opinions on the various items on the menu when asked. I went with the pink shrimp Benedict and it was delicious! The hollandaise sauce had a little kick to it and the shrimp was cooked well. I coupled that with the passion Paloma, which was refreshing and not too sweet. I also tried the BLT (bacon/lobster/tomato) Benedict and that was also really good. For dessert, the table split pieces of the house key lime pie. It was outstanding! The meringue stood so tall but was light and airy over the tart and sweet key lime and crust base.
