First time here and very cute place. Not a restaurant for dining in and definitely a place to order and carry out. They have a little lobby area for waiting but definitely not for dining. I needed to bring something to our family meet up and didn't feel like cooking or baking anything. I went on Yelp to find Filipino empanadas and Salamat Po came up. Perfect! I called the number and a polite gentleman answered. I asked him if they sold empanadas by the dozen and I needed it by the next day and they were able to accommodate. Picked 2 dozen up the next day and the price was reasonable - $2.50/empanada. I had to test one out as soon as I got home and they were perfect! Everyone at the party said they were really good. So will definitely be coming back here to order. Brought my mom with me and she was able to confirm that Salamat Po also caters. They had various Filipino food (Ulam) available when we visited. I guess their menu changes daily. They also had dessert available such as buko pandan, and other rice cake sweet desserts. Restaurant was clean and inviting. I will be back!!

Came across this delicious Filipino food spot last year when looking for eats around the dance studio my daughter attends nearby, and the food..Delicious!..And staff..Amazing & so welcoming!! Shot out to Joanna and Lj for making my my recent visit/purchase a pleasant one:) I was only planning to get a few Halo Halo desserts to share with friends, and left with much more, due to my eyes were hungry lol.. and everything looked so yummy for take out! They even gave me a "special treat" from their menu before I left..which was so delicious! This is one of the best Filipino food in the area, so go and check it out! Picture: Ube Leche Flan, Halo Halo, Buko Pandan, Leche Flan (I ordered Lumpia (Filipino eggrolls) but didn't get to take a picture as all hands were reaching for it!! Yums!)

The food was amazing, family ran business with amazing service. Felt very homey. This was my first time having Filipino food and I'd definitely go again.

If you're craving bold, comforting Filipino flavors in North Chicago, Salamat Po Authentic Filipino Cuisine delivers the goods. It's set up turo-turo style (literally "point-point"), so you get to pick from the hot trays of freshly cooked dishes. On our visit, they offered around 8-10 entrees, each one looking just as tempting as the next. We ordered lechon kawali, BBQ pork, pork sisig, dinuguan, and pinakbet to go.The lechon kawali is deep fried pork belly . It was golden, crunchy with a juicy center that held up to every dip. The BBQ pork had that familiar sweet-savory glaze that sticks to your fingers. Pork sisig was tangy, and just the right amount of heat. The dinuguan aka chocolate meat is a hearty stew of pork simmered in vinegar, garlic, and pig's blood was rich and earthy. The pinakbet kept it grounded with bitter melon and bagoong bringing contrast and balance to the meat-heavy spread. We met RJ, one of the owners--welcoming, clearly passionate, and proud of the flavors he's putting out. You can tell it's personal for him, and that energy shows in the food.

Decided to check out this new-ish Filipino carry-out place, est. 2023. Located pretty conveniently off of Milwaukee rd, and had plenty of parking in the plaza. They change their menu daily and post on Facebook what they will be serving that day. We came rather late in the day (2pm on a Sunday) so most of the available options are gone. We did two combos, so four meat sides to try. They also offer small samples if you aren't sure what to get and don't want to commit to something new. They gave plenty of white rice, and were generous with the portion sizes probably because it's end of the day. Owners were nice and explained each dish and flavor profile. Flavors were all very good, but definitely heavy on the meats and not a lot of vegetables left. I'd be interested in trying new things given they rotate the menu!

I stopped by on Wednesday Nov 26th. Love the empanadas.. perfect crust for both pork empanadas and the dessert mango peach empanadas. Such a cute place and plenty of choices!!

The food was delicious! The lady at the front was so attentive and even let us try the different options. Service was 10/10!! The ambiance was modern and cute! Will definately be back as the woman who assisted us asked the chef there were lumpia's and they went above and beyond to make lumpia's for us.

Wow great food for such a great price!!!…read more I was picking up Navy graduation tickets a few blocks away and found them on Yelp. Glad I tried them out. The charge by how many entrees you choose. I got the 3 entree choices for $15, also added the rest of thier lumpia which were $1.25 each. They are only open until they sell out every day. They dont have set hours when of when they close, so if they run out of food you miss you. So get there early. It was only 1230pm and they were already out of several dishes. I got a spicy pork, chicken adobo and thier Wednesday special which was peanut butter pork. All of them were tender and flavorful. The inside was sorta small and had about 6 or 7 tables. I saw a lot of people picking up food and getting it to go. Several people in line asked if they had specific dishes like the bbq, which they ran out of. So seems like they have quite a bit of regulars. The guys working were super nice and since it was my first time there I asked what they recommend and they didn't disappoint. If you like this type of food, like I do, then I would highly recommend this place.

Went to this joint for the first time tonight for dinner with my partner…read more My son recommended their crispy pata and lumpia Shanghai, so we tried those along with their homemade siomai. My goodness, everything was so good! The crispy pata has an incredibly crispy skin, with soft, tender, and flavorful pork meat inside. We were told by the owner, Ryan, that they slow cook the meat in its own juices for 6 hours prior to deep frying it. The result is nothing short of one of the best interpretations of this favorite Filipino dish. Definitely my favorite! The lumpia is top-notch -- crispy, crunchy, and perfectly seasoned. The siomai is garlicky and delicious as well. All of this for just $32. The price is unbelievable considering the quality of food they are serving. Everything was fresh and served hot from the kitchen, unlike the typical Filipino "turo-turo" style restaurant. They also have combo meals for $12.99 all day. I have to try their lechon belly and crispy kare-kare next time. This place is truly a hidden gem! You have to try it, and you will not be disappointed. I will definitely recommend it to my friends and family. Thanks to the owner, Ryan. I think you have a winner here!

It's across the street from Arby's in a small strip mall. You'll definitely have to make a U-Turn because getting into the lot is weird. Plenty of parking since it is a shared lot. We decided to do two combo meals plus the aristocrat chicken. When dining in, there are about 4 tables so it can be limited if there is a rush hour. The owner was very pleasant and he explained about the items before we looked at the menu. Lumpia was crispy and tasty. Garlic rice was a little oily but still good. Overall, it's about a 4. I would have given them a 5 but that rock hard crispy kare kare is hard to forget. However, I'll return to try other items. -crispy kare kare with garlic rice and lumpia 3 - I wanted to like this but the crispy kare kare was a huge let down. It was very tough to eat. I've had Filipino food many times and it was never this hard. It's a shame because the peanut sauce with the veggies and eggplant were delicious. -bbq pork belly (liempo) with garlic rice and lumpia 5 - I really liked the BBQ pork belly. Very easy to cut with a spoon. Meat was well seasoned. It is fatty, so it's best to eat it with rice. -aristocrat chicken 5 - highly recommended. Chicken is extremely flavorful even for leftovers. Meat is very moist and juicy. Nice balance of sweet and salty. I should have gotten the 10 pieces.

Seating is pretty limited, but it looked like most folks were picking up pastries to go, but either way you order at the front one party at a time. Truffle Croissant (5/5): A must get, super intense black truffle against a perfectly flaky and chewy buttery croissant. The large bits of pearl sugar add pops of sweetness that I loved. Mango Tart (4.75/5): Mango really shines through with melt in your mouth texture and fruity sweetness. Coconut pasty cream adds almost a nutty flavor and luscious mouthfeel to contrast against the lightly crunchy cookie crust. Prosciutto Croissant (4.5/5): Pastry again impeccable with sharp saltiness from the prosciutto and cheese. Still absolutely delicious, but hard to recommend with how good the other items were. Longanisa Breakfast Sandwich (5/5): Another life changing bite. Hash brown add on is unbelievably crunchy against the egg bite that is pillowy soft and fluffy roll. Longanisa is salty and sweet, just the best way to start your morning. Lumpia (3.75/5): Comes out piping hot and the meat still stays juicy and bouncy. Good, not crazy. Filipino Breakfast with Longanisa and Tocino (4/5): Garlic rice is fluffy, but heavy on the garlic exactly like I love it. Sunny side up eggs were perfectly cooked and the two meats were actually the weakest components, a bit chewier than expected. Chicken Adobo (4.25/5): Chicken has almost a nice char on the outside and doused in a tangy sauce with crispy garlic bits. Tender and juicy, personally preferred this over the longanisa and tocino. Sweet Corn Hojicha (2/5): Only real whiff that we tried. While you could really taste the corn, unfortunately ended up being wayyyy too sweet and I couldn't have more than a sip or two.

(Also, keep in mind that mornings are walk-in only, you can't order the breakfast sandwich online like you can with the pastries, and reservations are strictly for their dinner service.) Stepping inside is a welcome relief from the sun. The interior is modern and light-filled, featuring a gorgeous pastry display at the central ordering counter. The space is tight, loud, and bustling. Which makes sense given the sheer volume of people they serve, so you'll have to try and snag one of the few seats along the edges. Once we finally ordered, the service was incredibly fast. The sandwich came out in less than 5 minutes! It was definitely a good, tasty sandwich, but I wouldn't say it was amazing. Ultimately, while I enjoyed the food and the beautiful space inside, I probably wouldn't wait 45 minutes in the blazing sun to get it again.
