I went to Teriyaki madness this Sunday at 2:00 pm. I was the only one in the restaurant. I placed my order and sat down. Five people came in after me and walked out with food. I was sitting there for 20 minutes, I went up to the cashier and asked where my food was. She looked at me puzzled and came back and stated, they had misplaced my food order. I said, how can you misplace my food order when I am the only one here. She handed me my food finally and apologized briefly. They offered me nothing. A Yelp Elite event introduced us to this place two years ago. Apps were so-so but the teriyaki bowls were really quite good; all food is cooked to order. The problem was that their (tiny? understaffed?) kitchen was incapable of keeping up with orders. Several frustrated Yelpers waited up to 90 minutes for their entrées. For a restaurant in the fast casual genre, we thought this was unacceptable. Fast-forward to the present. We were nearby and decided to dine here on the spur of the moment. At 7:15 PM on a Thursday, we observed that only two tables were occupied. As we approached the cashier, she declared, "There's a 25 minute wait!" "What!? This place is EMPTY!" There's hardly anyone here!" Gesturing towards a nearly empty to-go rack, she replied, "Well, we have all these online orders that need to be filled!" Egad. I went to teriyaki madness for the first time a few days ago and the cashier was really nice and respectful, she had to ask for help on the computer and this big guy from the kitchen came and called her a "pain in the ass." Overall the guys in the kitchen were swearing and being really rude to the female workers. I came back today to order and they were again being disgusting and making rude jokes to the female workers. How can teriyaki madness tolerate this sort of behavior? I witnessed one of the employees from the kitchen call a female worker a "bitch" and laugh about it. Our friends enjoyed chicken teriyaki bowls with a crispy crab rangoon while I had a salmon teriyaki bowl with double vegetables (no rice) as the salmon does not come in a small size. The Absolute worst ever second time we ordered from here for team lunch. First time they completely forgot and entire entree and didn't care to figure out how to get it to us. Today we ordered at 1220 and it's now been two hours and we have yet to receive our food. Keep in mind that this is an office and most of us leave at 3pm and still havnt had lunch. The owner told me this was one of the only locations to have this, so it's not company or nation wide. Food was good as usual, service was good. Kind staff. Food is expensive, but it always has been. I was craving some teriyaki so made a stop into Teriyaki Madness. It was very quick service. We knew what we wanted and ordered at the front. I got the steak teriyaki with fried rice and veggies. My mom got the spicy chicken with fried rice and veggies. It took maybe less than ten minutes for us to get our food. They did mix up my mom's order but they took care of it right away. I like how many combinations you can get for your bowl. The steak was well seasoned but I felt like I didn't get enough so I'll have to remember to do a double order or go for another entree. I tried some of the spicy chicken it wasn't as spicy as what I was imagining but still had good flavor. They keep the establishment nice and clean which is great. But in the meantime the owner was very kind to serve the appetizers on the house as it was super busy. In appetizers, we were served Crab Rangoon and Chicken Potstickers. I worked for Teriyaki Madness in Vernon hills and can firstly say that you shouldn't trust the dishes washed by Nik Patel. Jon, the supervisor, makes sure that the dishes are clean, Nik Patel does not and he is the owner of the establishment. I would also like to say that Nik is a verbally abusive employer. Day 1 of me working there he asked if I was intimidated by him, and when I said no he laughed in my face and walked away. 2 employees have quit during my employment because he has been harassing us and stealing our money after 9:30pm. Nik has regularly harassed, berated, and threatened peoples livelihoods and source of income. I myself got let go under the guise of "poor performance" and "bathroom breaks" because I spoke out to Nik about his treatment of employees as well as wage theft and how what he was doing was unprofessional and illegal. I would also like to add that I have only ever called off once in the month that I worked there, and it was because I threw up due to a negative reaction to seafood. Nik called me, said that he doesn't think I am ready or qualified to continue working if I'm going to keep calling off, and said that he was going to shorten my schedule. I got fired the same week. Because I threw up, despite coming to work with a doctor's note the next shift. Nik Patel is by far the most argumentative and unqualified person for his position. I would like to formally apologize for any customers that have come in and the employees were unhappy or clearly upset. Nik Patel is not easy to work with and it doesn't create a healthy work environment for the rest of the employees. Regardless, I apologize if anybody has experienced an upest worker. I don't have the money for a lawyer and am still working on an email to Teriyaki Madness Legal team, however I thought that writing a review on here might help people see the truth behind the scenes. I don't know how many other employees have been fired by Nik during his abuse nor do I know the extent of the harassment towards other coworkers. I just know that speaking out about his theft and following his sick leave policies cost me my job. I'm sure many others have lost theirs under the guise of "poor performance". I was here a week ago for a yelp event and enjoyed my meal so much I decided to come back right away! The store is quiet and clean and the worker behind the counter was very friendly. We ordered orange spicy chicken with white rice and vegetables as well as a salmon with yakisoba noodles and vegetables, both regular sized bowls. My chicken order was the same I made at the event and while it was delicious I noticed that there was less of everything. Less chicken, rice, and veggies. I had left the event with plenty of leftovers but today I finished my bowl and honestly felt I could have eaten more (we did get apps at the event but 1 crab Rangoon and 1 potsticker don't make THAT much difference). My friend loved their salmon bowl but found the noodles a bit on the chewy side. One other thing I'll say is the veggies seem very random, I'd like a bit of all of them but I had mostly cabbage today. Overall the quality and flavor is great here but the price is high for the portion based on what I got today. Maybe consistency is the issue? Highly highly recommend this place!! I first ordered after seeing posts on Mundelein moms and decided to get some on a Friday night for my daughter and I. I got the junior chicken katsu with noodles for my daughter and the spicy chicken with fried rice for myself, both with veggies. The crab rangoons were also delicious with the sweet and sour sauce and I normally don't care for the sauce but it was DELICIOUS.
