    Oxtails, rice and peas, plantains
    Monique H.

To start I was invited to this spot from a friend entering a poetry showcase. Parking The host was amazing. I paid my ticket on Eventbrite though no one ever asked me to show my ticket. Upon entering I was not greeted by anyone. The bar was to the right and lounge sectional seating was all around with a small stage at the opposite end of the room where the DJ was. It took well over 30minutes for me to get up to ask someone to take my order. I ordered Oxtails, beef suya and a lemon drop martini with Kettle One instead of Tito's. The martini was amazing. Shout out to the bartender. The beef suya was edible. A little tough at times but I ate it but the oxtails...were cold. I mean put your finger in it cut the oxtail cold. We were well into the show by the time the server came back. I had eaten the suya and almost drank my entire drink. I told her my dish was cold and she took it back. 10-15 minutes later she returned with the plate. Clearly microwaved to be reheated I did not bother as I came to support the amazing show. I asked for a carry out container, bag and check. The sever returned with her handheld machine and showed me my total. I thought it was high but I asked was the tip included. She replied no. Swiped my card and retired the machine to me as to give her a tip. I am normally a generous tipper. So whatever i added $14 and some change to a bill that I thought should be about $60. It still didn't sit right with me so I asked a receipt. Now looking at the receipt there is a $10 tip plus another $14 tip. Now I don't mind tipping $24/25 for great service but that was not it. I called the next day to speak to anyone in charge and was told they don't come in until well after midnight however they would give them the message and have them call me. She also had me send her the receipt. She was even shocked at what I told her. This may be ok for someone that does not care about her money but I paid to get in the door which had nothing to do with the venue. But to take advantage of people is stealing. I would not have notice if Apple had not hit my account for $84.92 . Can someone please explain it all to me after I asked the server was a tip included. Worst is...this is yet another black owned establishment that I am finding ok with taking advantage of people. I have called the lounge several times and no one is there that can handle a refund. So here I am to warn every one of there check at Blu Lagoon. I frequent too many places for this to go unnoticed. I am open to advise but right now the lack of management responsibilities and negligence of owners is truly bothersome.

    Jollof Rice and Jerk Chicken

I went on Thursday night. Band was Amazing. Waitress had great service. Jerk Chicken delicious. Jollof Rice edible but I've had much better. Drinks and Hookah good.

"Fried Snapper" dry and salty. Not good at all.

Food awful. Service from the waitress was sub par. She was not attentive and only checked on us once to see if we "signed the receipt". Even with a section she still did not give good service. She never smiled once. I understand that this is a late night spot but y'all have got to do better. The jollof rice tasted BURNT. The rice tasted like it was cooked three days ago then set on fire before serving it, yuck. Then the snapper was dry as a bone. It was flavorless and slathered in a super salty sauce that looked like diarrhea (see photo). Overall, the DJ played great music, the drinks were okay but the food was a total waste of money, the service was poor And no management in sight.

Lovely music, drinks, this place is a vibe. I was vegan at the time I ate here so I didn't eat much but the food was excellent nonetheless.

    Oxtail Jollof Rice Fried Plantain

Came after a long day of drinking & this food didn't disappoint. Oxtail fell off the bone, plantains were crispy and sweet & the rice hit the spot. Just a few heads ups: they dont split checks, they auto add gratuity & they also don't provide glasses of water due to covid & each bottle is $3.50. Other than that, no complaints!!!

Is there outdoor patio seating? What are their social distancing policies?

    Do they serve alcohol?

Yes, they have a full bar. I suggested that they offer another IPA, but there is something for everyone

As someone who is known for seeking out and truly testing vegetarian options at Caribbean…read morerestaurants, I have to say--Miss Conduck is easily the best Caribbean flavor restaurant in Atlanta. And coming from a Jamaican background, let me be clear: the usual Trinidad vs. Jamaica debate does not apply here. This place stands on its own. From the moment the food hit the table, one thing was consistent across everything we ordered: it was hot, fresh, and made with real intention and flavor. We started with the fried cauliflower bites. The batter was light, crispy, and well done--definitely a solid starter. I wasn't a big fan of the tartar sauce it came with, but it didn't take away from the quality of the cauliflower itself. My friend ordered the jerk chicken rolls, and I have to give credit where it's due--the sauce that came with those rolls was incredible. Easily one of the standout sauces of the night. Next, I had the doubles, and because I like my food with a kick, I asked for pepper sauce. Now, I'll admit--I made my first one obnoxiously hot. But what I discovered was the real winning combination: adding the callaloo on top of the doubles. That was the perfect match. The callaloo itself is blended with so many elements into a rich, flavorful purée, and when paired with the doubles, it created this burst of layered, authentic Caribbean flavor that was just on point. I also ordered a veggie plate with rice and peas, cabbage, and chickpeas, and they did not disappoint. The portion size was generous, and every single item was clearly made with flavor in mind--not just thrown together as an afterthought for vegetarians. I also tried the macaroni pie--it's a smaller portion, but it's true Caribbean mac and cheese, rich and satisfying. The fried plantains were done perfectly--hot, fresh, and with that ideal balance of sweetness and texture. Then came the rasta pasta. My first couple of bites, I thought it needed a little more kick--but by the third bite, everything came together perfectly. You can taste the layers of vegetables building flavor, and there's a subtle heat that isn't overpowering but adds depth. The noodles were cooked exactly how they should be--perfect texture, not overdone, not undercooked. One thing I always pay attention to is this: Is a vegetarian-friendly restaurant also approved by meat eaters? And in this case, the answer is absolutely yes. My friend had the jerk chicken, and she said it was spectacular. She actually lives nearby and already plans to come back regularly. Honestly, I was surprised the place wasn't packed wall to wall. The atmosphere is incredible--it has its own unique style that really makes you feel like you've stepped into the Caribbean. The music, the vibe, everything is intentional. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. We even watched them handle a large party, and they went above and beyond to make sure that group was fully taken care of. All in all, this place exceeded expectations on every level. Five stars without hesitation. If you're in Atlanta and want real Caribbean flavor--whether you eat meat or not--Miss Conduck is a must-visit. I highly recommend making a reservation and experiencing it for yourself.

We tried calling ahead, but no one answered; fortunately, it wasn't too busy when we arrived, so our tardiness wasn't an issue. There was a DJ playing a nice mix of hip hop and R&B, which set a great vibe. We weren't immediately greeted since no one was at the hostess stand, but someone from the kitchen noticed us right away and seated us. They offered a $28 "Girl Brunch" with a choice of cornbread or deviled eggs, plus either jerk chicken fried rice or croissant French toast with blueberry compote, along with a lemon drop. I chose the deviled eggs and croissant French toast and gave the lemon drop to my friend, opting for a mocktail instead. My friend ordered the cornbread and steak and eggs. We both enjoyed everything. I was pleasantly surprised by the croissant French toast, and the mocktail was just as good as any cocktail.
