This service was literally so slow. It took 30 minutes for us to order, another 35 minutes for us to receive our drinks. Another 30 minutes for us to get our food. The music choice was great and the vibe was neat but the service just was extremely slow and the parking situation was crazy. 5/10

Dined at Continent Restaurant & Cigar Lounge for a birthday dinner party and it was a VIBE. Parking was free at the time we arrived in a plaza lot. Upon entry we were promptly greeted by the staff who set the bar for the ambiance we would experience throughout the night. Since we had a large party we had multiple servers with additional staff who checked in throughout the night. The cigar lounge is in its own enclosed area. We didn't spend much time there but it was nice for the duration of time we were there. The restaurant had an AMAZING DJ who played a blend of old school & 90's R&B to African & Caribbean hits. Everyone vibed out from their seats so you don't have to worry about people dancing next to your plate. For drinks I had the lychee martini and my husband had the smoked old fashioned, both 10/10. We ordered the oxtail bao for our appetizers which were very tender. For our entrees I had the braised lamb shank with sautéed spinach and mushroom ragu & my husband had the scotch bonnet fried chicken with salad and added a side of the oxtail fried rice. The lamb shank was super flavorful and tender. The ragu I wasn't crazy about so the server let me swap for more spinach. My husband loves spicy food but felt that the fried chicken wasn't actually spicy so added their authentic hot sauce. Even without the sauce the chicken was great. I loved the side salad. Many of our dinner party raved about the mussels as starters as well. For the many birthday guests the restaurant staff passed out sparklers for everyone to light up the restaurant for the celebrants which was a lovely moment. At the end of the night the checks were brought out in passports which were pretty cool. My only feedback note is that I wish the servers were a bit more knowledgeable on the dishes to make recommendations. Other than that it was a great experience and I would definitely return.

Place was amazing except for the parking. Staff was on point and what items they did have in stock were amazing. We had dinner and visited the cigar spot which is adjacent to the restaurant. This is definitely not just a place to be seen, but also a place for great food and drinks. Only complaint was it's a tad too loud to have type of conversation. Excellent for music and a vibe with dinner. For our entrees we had the oxtail lo mein, lamb shank with Mac and cheese and we also ordered the pepper shrimp for an appetizer. The pictures of the food didn't come out clearly, but I can guarantee they were flavorful and appropriately portion sized. We will be going back due to the food, service and we want to try a few more dishes. Chef was onsite during this visit.

Last night, my cousin and I went here for dinner and libations. It is off the beaten path, but the ambiance is quite impressive. Art work on the walls, plush red velvet booths, and a DJ was mixing one the ones and twos with a great playlist. Impressive cocktails: Ice cubes with edible flowers frozen in them, martinis with edible hibiscus flowers, smoked old fashioned, and other creations made by a mixologist. Because of this, the price reflects the artisan nature of the drinks. Expect to pay $14-$20 for cocktails. The only critique is that the drinks were slow to flow out to tables, so hiring extra bar staff may be necessary. The premise of this place is simple. Jamaican food executed at a very high level. The chef's pedigree shows that he is really well versed in technique but understands balancing of flavors. In dishes like the head on shrimp with a curry appetizer, he shows a deft hand in incorporating Asian flavors in an authentic way to create Jamaican food that keeps its inherent roots. The tamarind wings were a first for me, but the sauce was amazing, such great flavors that married well together.

Super unimpressed with the food here. I would even go so far as to say the oxtail lo mein (their signature dish) is the worst meal I've had in a long time. It was salty, heavy, oily, and the meat didn't taste fresh. 0 out of 10 - do not recommend. Especially not for the price point ($40). They don't have a license to sell alcohol, so only mocktails were on the menu. That was the best thing I had there though. Another upside was the deejay playing old school reggae, which I love, and at around 10pm there was still free parking available in the parking lot. Again, for the price point, the food should be not only good, but edible. We were a party of three and none of us ate our food.

I stopped by Continent on a Friday evening, and I had a great time! This minority owned restaurant and lounge has a fun but chill vibe. I arrived around 10pm without a reservation and found seats at the bar. We enjoyed cocktails from the lovely ladies working the bar(great service very attentive), and we really enjoyed the DJ. We didn't go into the cigar lounge, but the restaurant portion was great. They had small and large groups, and food looked good. Definitely make a reservation here! Also if you check in on Yelp you receive a flaming shot! Parking is free in the plaza lot.

Located in a nice plaza with ample parking in the front and back. Love the entrance. Red carpet and stanchion and hookah stations outside. Space includes bar, dining area, and cigar lounge. Very comfy cozy atmosphere. Good music and staff. Ordered salmon with callaloo gnocchi, vegetables and continent rum punch. Overall not bad, however I have to say for the price, short menu and mandatory 20% gratuity I expected better tasting food. Extremely small plank of salmon, gnocchi sauce was excellent. Not a lot of gnocchi.

Ambiance is cute and intimate enough for a date. Service was 10/10 from the moment i entered the building. Server actually cares and so does management. I can tell when a pace takes pride in good customer service and having a quality experience. Only complaint is $25 is too high for 3 small lamb chops. Time for a new food vendor because that's absolutely ridiculous. Brussel sprouts were delicious.

Good: good and creative Service: pleasant and welcoming Ambience: grown and sexy This is good place for an intimate date or celebratory meal with a festive group. I went here on a Friday night and had a nice evening. There is free parking in the plaza this restaurant is located. Plus, there is an elegant entrance with mini fountains and a grand entry door. This place is a bit vacant early in the evening but the energy and crowd starts to pick up after the DJ starts playing at 9pm. Get ready to enjoy a good mix of classic dancehall and r&b hits from the 90s/00s. I had the stush martini, it was a delicious drink that wasn't too sweet but I wish it was a big stronger. Along with that I also had the salmon dish. The salmon was PERFECTLY cooked and came on a bed of yummy callaloo gnochi. The dish was pleasing but eat before you get here because the portions aren't big. It's highly suggested to get a side or appetizer in addition to your entree because your meal alone won't make you full unless you already ate before you got there. The decor and ambience is quite grown and sexy. It's dimly lit with pretty floating candles to light your table. Beware that if you're a small party of 2-3 persons, they may sit you at one of their small tables that feels similar to a work cubicle. These tables are situated with a pretty red velvet partition that blocks off one side of the table and it can be very awkward for you and your company to sit next to each other while staring at this random wall in front of you as you eat. Other than that, this was an enjoyable dining experience.

This was place was just ok. You only can be at the table for 90 minutes. Was not a lot of options that I wanted so I wind up getting the tamarind wings which were good but so much sauce. I also had the whisky ginger smash drink which if you like ginger you would like it. Parking is basically shared by several businesses including another business. The place automatically charges 20% percent gratuity and the waitress told me that they didn't have their liquor license so some things were limited and not sure what that meant. So it was limited interaction with the waitress as I think she was making the drinks as well. They had a dj who played pretty good old school music but I personally would not be back.

    Spiced, lamb chops (4)

I am EXTREMELY disappointed. We had a reservation for 10 people and 7:30 (not only were we on time) but once we walked through the door we waited 2 mins to be greeted and seated. Once seated; our waitress took our drink orders and explained the menu and what her recommendations were. Now we did move our seats (as we were all coupled and wanted to sit near our spouses. We were all sitting (girls/boys at first). (And understandably the waitress had a little attitude but I understood her process of how she kept track of who ordered what). Once everyone was officially seated our waitress came by and took our orders (mind you at this point we're still waiting for our alcoholic drinks to arrive). Finally the drinks arrived about 30 mins after being seated. At this point the entire party of 10 proceeded to give their appetizer & main course meals. The oxtail lo mein was out, I decided to order the pan seared salmon but it was not available, so after some debating I went with the lamb shanks but then those became unavailable. (Side note) I am a foodie! And for those of you, that love food, when you have a taste for something and the waitress repeatedly comes back every 10/15 minutes later that it's not available, not once, but twice! You become frustrated (which is where I was at this point. Because now we have been here almost an hour and a half). I purposely didn't eat anything since my 12PM lunch because I knew I was coming here to have dinner. So, with certain main course items, not being available, my husband and I were forced to order the spiced, lamb chops (yes, the appetizer) because the lamb shanks, the pan seared salmon, was not available in the main course. We added the lobster mac & cheese, the fried brussels sprouts, and the spinach as our sides. (We basically had to create our meal)!! I was not the only one who was unhappy 8 out of 10 people were not happy with their order. Either it was wrong, the food was cold, or they were still waiting!! we asked for the manager; she came over and apologized, informing us that " they had Wu-Tang & Busta Rhymes" there on Thursday and they had run out of a lot of the items (we"re now 2 hours into waiting for our food). She did offer us two rounds of complementary shots (and then once we received all of our food, we got complementary jerk chicken (which was dry)). Now here is how they can better customer service. (because honestly speaking, the food was great). However, when you have horrible customer service, it makes you not want to return to a restaurant which is now how I feel. I will never go back based off of how horrible the customer service, wait time, how slow the kitchen was. The kitchen needs to inform their waiter/waitresses of what is in stock for that night (communication is key)! Although it was great that the manager offered complementary items; it would have been better to know upfront what was/was not in stock. At the end of the night the manager did offer a 10% discount on everyone's bill. However, I feel there were too many grave mistakes and that more should have been done because each couple was spending $150+. By the end of the night we ended up actually getting our food eating and leaving within 45 mins. In total, we spent 3.5 hours at a restaurant that max should have been 2.5/3 if we were conversing. Lastly, like I said, the food was great, however, I will never go back because of the lack of customer, service, and time management of others. I also want to note this happen on a Sunday night!!

The food is too good for me to stay away lol. S/o to my brother from another mother Chef Scotley Innis. If you're looking for the perfect American/Caribbean fusion cuisine look no further. Not only are the cocktails the best in the city but the food is oh so flavorful. I tried the pepper shrimp and it was a masterpiece on a plate. They really did something special this time. Stop in and tell Chef Ash Said It sent ya! #ashsaidit

    Potato fritters

Visited on a Friday evening for a date night with my husband. It was only one other table occupied in there at the time. We were seated in a booth with menus before our server came over. We ordered water and potato fritters. While we waited we discussed the menu options for dinner and drinks. I ordered myself French 75 and ordered him a Whiskey Ginger Smash. Drinks were good and strong. His came with this candied ginger and it was really good. The potato fritters arrived and we were expecting something more fried but we enjoyed them. They were crispy, flavorful, with a hint of spice. For dinner, he got the Fried Whole Snapper while I enjoyed sides, Three Cheese Mac, Fried Brussel Sprouts, and Sauteed Spinach. Dinner was delicious. Those brussel sprouts, chef's kiss, outstanding. I wish I had gotten another order. Three cheese mac was delicious. Spinach was a lil salty but still good. Fried snapper was meaty and flavorful. We enjoyed everything thoroughly. We also had a couple flaming shots during dinner which was a fun experience. Service was great and we told them it was our anniversary so they gave us complimentary champagne, it was cute and we appreciated the gesture. Definitely recommend.

Ask the Community - Continent Restaurant & Cigar Lounge

This isn't kid friendly correct? I see that it says Cigar lounge...

The restaurant and cigar lounge have separate entrances. But, the restaurant has a club/lounge vibe. I wouldn't take minor kids.

Do they have any free parking on Saturdays? I read somewhere that they charge $10 on Friday and Saturdays.

    Yes

Is the full menu available until closing?

Yes, they seated and served someone off of the menu as late as an hour out from closing.
