I've been wanting to try this place for a while so I suggested to my bf that we should try it out! And we went! Lol. It's located in a shopping center that doesn't have the best parking but we managed to find a good spot. The inside of the restaurant isn't that big but it had a nice, welcoming feel to it. The waitress welcomed us with a nice smile and told us that we could sit anywhere which was great! We sat a table that was a little small but it was okay. The waitress came up to us and told us that it was Happy Hour! (3:00 til maybe 5:00?) so I was really excited about that! Appetizers were half off, and so were the sushi specials, and drinks... and there was something else but I can't remember! Blue mango used to be our local Thai before they shut down their Stevens Creek location. My husband mentioned they had another branch and he had had a good lunch there.. So Friday night we decided to order up: - sweet potato sticks ( I can see how they would be tasty but they were soggy by the time we got home. Best eaten at the restaurant) - eggplant stir fry with tofu- flavorful and extremely tasty - cashew with dried chilli and tofu- again very tasty with lots of veggies - Penang curry- now this is what blew my mind- so so tasty!!!! Really wanted to lick the bowl clean! The portions aren't great for the price but it's not bad. Their service on the phone is slightly off putting. I called to order and after each dish the person on the other end asked " is that all". I even stopped her saying I have a few things to order but she kept asking me that!! This place is very good ! If your are a vegetarian as well, this place is for you. For most of their dishes you have a choice of meats or soy product. This has become my uncle's favorite lunch place. We have been here every Wednesday for the last few weeks since I brought him here last month. This place is fairly small and decorated well. It has a sushi bar as well. Oh you know, my boyfriend and I planned on going to the gym and somehow ended up here instead. They serve both thai food AND sushi!! Two of my favorite cuisines in one. They have an awesome deal for $35 which included a plate of 4 appetizers, 2 entrees, your choice of either coffee/thai tea, and a dessert to share. Something about their seasoned edamame that made me want to just eat the skins! And you can never go wrong with thai tea. So sweet and addicting you have to try hard not to drink your whole glass within five seconds. I thought the entrees and dessert were good but I've definitely had better. I ordered Vegi Pad Thai, the taste was ok but quantity was below average. I asked my wife and friend how they rate their dishes. The taste was average but quantity was below average and price was above average. The decor was nice but I noticed the wall with water fountain was turned off. It seems like the manager want to save some utility bill. Why should I pay the full price for discounted decor and quantity? This place is by FAR my favorite Thai-Fusion restaurant. It's one of the best places for service in the south bay. Even without reservations, they've always managed to take care of my dinner party in a timely manner. I had been avoiding this place since I thought it was only a vegetarian place, but I was coming back from SJC late night, and it was the only place open, so I had no other choice. I have eaten here several times, and always had a great experience. The food is fantastic and the service is pleasant. We ordered the cream cheese stuffed wontons for our appetizer - hot, fresh and delicious, served with a sweet, spicy dipping sauce. Our main courses were the Chicken Asparagus and Waterfall Beef. The meal was served on a bed of greens with a light sweet dressing and rice. The portions were large and the food was hot, flavorful and very tasty. We also had Thai Tea, which was utterly sublime, and finished our meal with banana white chocolate dumplings, served with the most amazing coconut pineapple ice cream! Sheer heaven!!!! My boyfriend came to visit me at work and we randomly picked this place to try. We got here at about 11:30 and it wasn't packed at all. The set up is really simple and clean. This place has two menus. The first is a Japanese menu, mostly sushi rolls. The second is Thai food. It took us a long time to be able to order our food even though there weren't many people inside the restaurant yet. The waitress was really nice though, and apologized for the delay. Vincent ordered the Pad See Ew and I ordered the Pad Kee Mao. I asked for my dish to be extra spicy. They gave each of us a bowl of their house soup, which was just a cabbage soup, while we were waiting for our food. I didn't care for it and Vincent hated it, but it was free, so I'm not complaining. I just pushed it to the side. The food came out pretty fast, which was nice. The taste however, was nowhere near spectacular. I liked my boyfriend's dish better than mine. My Pad Kee Mao wasn't spicy at all. Thank goodness for spice racks! There were just no captivating flavors on my dish. Normally I get a real kick from ordering the Pad See Ew at any Thai restaurant but my taste buds were not turned on from this dish. As we were eating, this place got incredibly packed. We ordered: Garlic edamame $5.95 Panang curry w/ tofu $8.95 Pad Thai $8.95 Basil and chili chicken $8.50 Sizzling seafood feast $15.95 Fried banana ice cream $5.50 It added up to around $63 for four people. Kind of pricey, but I think it was pretty worth it. My favorite was the panang curry; it was simultaneously sweet, spicy, and coconutty, unlike anything I've ever tasted before. The basil and chili chicken could have been better (it was a little dry), but the pad thai was great. Nice and sticky. If there's one thing on the menu that you should get, it's the fried banana ice cream. It's warm slices of banana rolled in deep-fried coconut shavings, with a scoop of pine-apple The only things I didn't like about this place was that the service was okay, and the waitresses were polite, but I felt like they were kind of cold (It would have been nice to have been given a little more attention). Blue Mango was the choice of venue for a Thursday work lunch. The prices were really high for lunch and especially Thai lunches, so I had pretty high expectations. Curry fries: Nothing more interesting than curly fries served with curry on the side. Pretty ordinary. Vegetarian Mafia: Quite good for a fried roll. Crispy and fresh, and the unagi sauce was flavorful and not overpowering. Crab fried rice: Way to mislead me, Yelp! Highly overrated and definitely not worth the $10.95. There were good portions of crab, but the dish itself had little flavor. Exotic bomba: Beautiful looking, and the white chocolate shell and sorbet inside paired up well. The portion was big enough to share among at least 2 people, if not 3. Definitely recommended if you're looking at desserts. Coppa pistachio: The gelato was light tasting but the pistachio flavor was distinct. Unlike the bomba, this was only big enough for one person. Service was surprisingly good - the waitresses were very attentive to our group and always checked up on our plates and water. However, this might have been because our group of 18 was clearly ordering anything and everything off the menu, and given the number of reviews complaining about the service, take my experience with a grain of salt. I love this place. I love it because it has a sushi bar and serves traditional Thai dishes. I have a tendency to order the same thing: Yellow curry with cashew and potatoes or the eggplant with tofu. The brown rice is nice as is the coconut rice. It's nice to share your entrée and eat "family style". That way you do get the opportunity to try other dishes. I rarely order the desserts only because I end up being so full after my meal, there is no room to fit dessert! However the dessert menu does look enticing! I tried a lychee martini and a ginger lemon drop this past trip and they were both wonderful! The service is good and the environment is casual with just the right touches of decor. There is a projector that shows different snap shots of Thailand off of a wall (much better than these flat panel screen tvs that you find in Asian restaurants these days). I eat here about once a month and the experience is usually pretty good. I'm not a fan of their sushi menu, but the Thai food is always prepared well. I don't usually get too adventurous with the order and usually end of with pad Thai, a skewered mix of beef and veggies, steamed rice, et cetera. There have been a couple of times when the service was a little slow and the table/chairs had crumbs from the prior patrons still on them when I arrived, but all in all, it's a pretty good place to go for a casual dinner. Was a little bit cautious about this place, given that it touts itself as a Thai/Sushi restaurant. Sure enough, the emphasis on the sushi side is geared towards the Americanized, everything-but-the-kitchen-sink 'rolls' that bear little resemblance to Japanese cuisine. We opted for the Thai food. Service was prompt. I like how the menu lays out the length of time that appetizers will take to be prepared, using a scale that goes from fastest to slowest. The menu also gave a helpful scale of least to most spicy on Thai options. When trying a new Thai place, I always like to see how they fare on the soups or salads. In this case, it was the Som Tum Goong (green papaya salad with shrimp). Decent flavor, but I would've liked some of the dried shrimp that is really a staple ingredient in this salad. On a positive note, I asked for medium spice and it had just the right amount of chopped chilis. Green curry was decent - not as rich as other Thai options in the South Bay, but passable. They got all my orders correct, and all with the right level of spiciness. Laab Salad: I enjoyed this dish here. The meat is cooked just right and there was the right amount of lettuce. Tom Kha Gai Soup: I was a bit disappointed with the Tom Kha soup. The soup tasted diluted and did not have the clarity and balance of coconut, lemongrass, and zest. However, the chicken was good. I'm surprised this place only has 3 stars. I ate here for the first time last week, and I must say, I'm definitely a fan. I ordered the yellow curry chicken with a spice level of 7 and the roti with panag curry. The spice level was perfect for me. Just enough for my nose to feel like it was starting to drip. I love that they have spice levels on their menu. I love spicy food, but we all know that Thai spicy is on another level of spicy! My friend ordered the pad thai with crab meat and that was delicious too. I've never had that before. Their service was good. Nothing to complain about there. We had to wipe our forks w/ the provided napkins then we asked for 2 bowls, they were filthy! We showed the server, she apologized & brought us 2 cleaner bowls. We ordered pad thai, pineapple fried rice & the beef salad. The pineapple fried rice was the worse I've ever tasted! The rice was really soggy & the flavoring was not good. The other 2 dishes were OK. They asked how spicy we wanted the salad & we said 5 (scale of 1-10) for medium. They brought out the beef salad which had more beef and onions than lettuce (which was fine w/ us) but it was NOT spicy!! We ordered the sticky rice w/ mango for dessert & I have to say I've had better sticky rice. They dessert was very little for the $5.95 price they were charging. My girls and I were out having sushi one day when I mentioned that I have yet to find a great thai place - I miss my fave restaurant in Sacramento. One of the gals mentioned she loves this place and we should check it out and so we did. A group of 10 of us dropped in at this location and it was not all that I imagined. First of all, let me point out that its not a full fledge standalone restaurant. Its in a strip mall and there's seating for maybe 35- 40 people max. We all sat down at a long rectangular table which sucked cuz we couldn't really mingle with each other much and then the table was cluttered with multiple LAMINATED menus - I mean really - I think there were 4 or 5 of them. 1 for desserts, 1 for drinks, 1 for sushi, 1 for dinner, one for something else - but it was crazy. When we finally figured out what we wanted, we ordered and waited patiently. Unfortunately, when the food came out we were less than satisfied. My pad-see-ew was a bunch of over-cooked noodles stuck together without much flavor. I tried some of my friend's pad thai and it was really bland - I had a piece of chicken and it tasted like it was plain boiled chicken with the pad thai sauce covering it. :( Also, another slight issue were the water glasses. They were so tiny that in 5 sips the water was gone, so you either sat with an empty glass wishing for some water, or someone was constantly reaching over you with water. :( Not happy at all and won't be recommending this place to anyone. This is a decent place if you're in the area and you're not afraid to burn a little extra cash for the option of Thai dishes or Japanese 'sushi' rolls. Portions are small and typically in family style. The water glasses are small, which means you'll need refills a lot if you drink like a fish, which is doubly bad because the refill service is a bit spotty. I've had one good waitress there, one that charged my party of 4 as a party of 6 (because we were table 6) so it included gratuity (but we got that fixed from the aforementioned waitress), and a waiter who was decent, but had a window of about 6-7 minutes where he disappeared from the table area and couldn't get more water or clear some plates. Ok, the one star is for the delicious tuna asahi salad thing I had. but that's about it. My parents and I went to have lunch here. We entered the place, and it was pretty small and only about 3 tables of 2 people were eating. No one greeted us and no one seated us. Finally a waitress came out and told us to hold on. This place is ok but to be quite frank, at least from my limited experience, I would not come back for Thai food. The portions are small, and the pricing is relatively high for what you get. I can't speak to the Japanese food however. I do however like the space and the staff. Enjoy! read more
