Super mixed feelings about this place after ordering take out twice from them. First, the good: Chicken drunken noodles at the spiciest level, SOLID! A generous portion of noodles and veggies, but not as much meat (which is fine by me). As a spicy loving girl, the spiciest level option was good as it was present throughout the entire dish, meaning it was mixed in well! I appreciated this immensely. Also got a mango sticky rice to feed my sweet tooth, and it was good too! Served with blue rice which made it pretty. The bad: Oh my god. I love Rad Nar normally, but when I ordered it from here through UberEats, I was severely disappointed and couldnt even finish a third of the dish. It was severely sweet. Now, I do love my sugar, but holy crap it tasted like they marinated the meat, veggies, and noodles in sugar and then added more sugar when cooking it. I also got the spicy option so it was really weird to eat something sickenly sweet with a little bit of spice when expecting a spicy, savory dish. The five stars are for the massive amount of cashews on top of the fried rice. At most other places, the number of cashews on the plate can be counted on the fingers from both hands. But over here, it's as if they were trying to pour out the cashews from a five pound bag and ended up with a mountain of them on top of the plate. The cashews might have been piled in this manner in order to keep them crunchy, so this was appreciated. The picture shows what it looked like after mixing the cashews together with the rest of the ingredients on the plate. Located in downtown, there is only street parking available. The restaurant appeared to look very unkept as the menus are sticky and obviously not wiped. We were the only dine in customers at the time, but I noted they have mostly doordash orders during the 25 minutes we were there. Then there's another sign that says "Credit cards $1 surcharge, debit cards no surcharge." -- Paid with debit and still was charged $1 surcharge.. After paying, I saw a sign that says Zelle accepted. 1 entree + 1 Thai Iced Tea with complimentary waters + $1 debit card surcharge + 20% tip was a little bit more than $30. Roasted duck curry with rice $18.95 - 1/5 stars. I'd give this a negative star if I could. This consistency of this curry was more like soup as it was so watery and not thick. I was able to count how many tiny slices of duck + duck skin was given in this dish (10). By tiny, I mean TINY. If you were to put all the pieces together, you wouldn't even get a normal portion of a slice of duck LOL. It's all green peppers and like 3 slices of cucumbers. The flavor of this curry was more sweet than savory and way too liquid-like to eat as a curry over rice. Thai Iced Tea $5 - 4/5 stars. This was extremely sweet, good thing I have a sweet tooth! Only thing was I ordered regular iced tea but was served and charged for Thai Iced Tea. Omitting this from the overall rating because it's not what I originally wanted. Overall, the entire dine-in experience was... awkward. We walked in, was confused what to do, sat ourselves, stood up and slowly walked over to the cashier and grabbed the menus, looked at the menu, sat in confusion as we waited to order, then got up to order at the counter. It feels awkward and weird to even converse with the cashier/server when he brought out the wrong drink. Normally I give Asian restaurants with 3.5 star ratings a chance because the food is usually good and makes up for all the inconvenience (service, price, etc), however this is not the case LOL. I didn't eat in as I got my order to go. I got the pad see ew and a panang curry, which both felt pretty lackluster to me. The pad see ew was really dry which made it feel like it was undercooked or just not fresh. The noodles had that harder texture from undercooked/refrigerated noodles. One of my favorite Thai locations! The pad See Ew is one of my favorite dishes with tofu or chicken. Their chicken skewers are so yummy and flavorful. Peanut sauce with them is must! I also like their fried chicken over fried rice. Thai tea is a good drink too. The only thing that is not great is their parking, so thats why we only do to-go orders :/ also their inside seating is really small. I was a bit apprehensive about ordering my papaya salad here given the overall Yelp rating, but I had been craving it for multiple days at this point and found out that Dusita is closed on Sundays after I already left. I placed my order via DoorDash for pickup, one Thai-style papaya salad in large, medium spicy. I walked over and arrived about 10 minutes before the estimated pickup time. Despite DoorDash saying that the restaurant was still preparing my food, it was ready to go when I walked in. Looking at the restaurant from the outside did make me lose some hope. It's small, it looks pretty dingy and unassuming. Walking in, there are only a couple of tables available for seating but about half of them were occupied by customers on a Sunday night. The guy behind the counter looked pretty bored of his job, but I told him I was there to pick up, he asked if I needed utensils, I said sure, he tied up the bag and gave it to me, then I was out the door. I appreciated how I didn't have to wait the 10 minutes that I was fully expecting to wait when I arrived at the restaurant, but that's not necessarily always a good thing. I thought the large portion size was fair, but as other reviews have stated it is a lot of cabbage. It was a three compartment takeout container with the papaya salad in an aluminum foil boat in the main section and wedges of cabbage in both the smaller sections. I appreciated the aluminum foil boat as papaya salad is not the cleanest thing to get for takeout and that boat did a great job of keeping the juices contained. I was initially worried that medium may not be spicy enough as I usually get medium spicy from Dusita, but after many bites back to back I was definitely running for the water. This papaya salad is a bit heavier on the green beans and lighter on the peanut pieces, came out a bit more than I'd usually be willing to pay for this type of dish but satisfied my need to suffer from spicy thoroughly. I'm glad to have discovered a decent papaya salad spot nearby. read more

The Pad See Ew with prawns was incredibly tasty and full of flavor. It would have been nice if the veggies were cooked just a bit more, but they were still crunchy and delicious. Honestly, I'm really impressed by Sa-By Thai. I came here through a reddit recommendation, and this was the closest Thai place that was recommended by the Westfield/Valleyfair. Sa-By Thai is right across the street from San Jose State, and me and my friends came here after shopping on a Saturday evening. We were the only sit in customers. We ordered the Papaya Salad, the Sampler, Pad See Ew, and Pad Thai. It was honestly, pretty amazing. One of the best places I've gotten Thai food at. Their Thai Tea was pretty dang good as well. I personally really enjoyed the Papaya Salad, the Sampler, and the Pad See Ew. The Sampler allowed us to try a bit of everything, so that was really fun, My favorite were the fishcakes. Salad was good. I really enjoyed the flavors of the Pad See Ew. It was light enough, and just enough sauce for it to be enjoyable. Noodles and meat were well cooked as well. While we were eating, there was a man across the street at SJSU who was on his knees for the longest time. Paramedics came to get him, so we hope everything worked out. We were seated next to a window pane, oh gosh, really had to ignore the fact that it was dusted and plainly disgustingly dirty. When I asked for a high chair, the waiter came with very slippery high chair, which I assumed he wiped it down with dirty kitchen rag that Lord only knew where that rag had been. I solely ordered thai boat noodle. Husband ordered the same. They came very brothy. Meat portion was generous. However, knowing the fact this place was just too dirty, I felt bad chewing all the meat. Broth itself was far from what I would have expected. If you have tried Pa Ord the one in LA, this one was nothing to compare to their boat noodle. Kids had Honey Bbq pork with sticky rice. The meat was too hard to chew, kinda felt the meat was too gamey as well. Was here on a weekday for lunch. I heard about this joint from my friends who were regulars at the older place, so I wanted to try it out. Not very busy by the time we arrived so got a table pretty quick, and were able to place our order soon enough. I got the fried rice with fried chicken, and my friends got red curry with tofu. My friend and I ordered padthai, seafood tomyum noodle, and roti with curry. I loved the roti with curry. The curry sauce was absolutely good and they stepped up with a better display, but the price for just an appetizer was crazily high. I didn't eat the Tomyum noodle so I have no comments about that. However, the padthai tasted a lot worse now. It was too sour. The noodle was all clumped together and so hard to break them apart. I gave up eating it half way. This place is good if you're hungry later in the evening and just want that quick Thai food fix. My fiancé and I were craving Thai noodles and this was the only place that's open until 10 PM. Our food was delivered to us and surprised that restaurant lined the inside of the to go box with foil so that the food stayed warm the entire time. 2 thumbs up for that! Pad Thai w/chicken: 4/5 - Lots of flavor, huge portions (definitely enough for 2 people), but the chicken needed more flavor. The overall dish was great and I would get medium spicy because mild was not enough for me. Pad See Ew w/chicken: 4.5/5 - Great flavor, the veggies were cooked perfectly (not soggy like some other places), and noodles tasted amazing. The chicken could have also been seasoned more in this dish. What I enjoyed the most about our food was the portions of our meals. This location is currently open for take out only. My bf and I stopped by today, I ordered the seafood noodles and he ordered the big chicken. Our orders were done in under 15 minutes, this was very impressive timing. The seafood noodles were good although they were missing a bit of flavor. Usually when Sa-By is open they offer chili sauces to add over the noodles which take the dish to the next level. Also there was very little actual seafood involved. My boyfriend gave me two thumbs up for the chicken bbq, this is his typical order from this joint. First time I tried this UPDATE: Welp, I'm really trying to like this place, but it is just so inconsistent. I ate here with some friends a a while back and the experience was enjoyable and the food was all good. I ordered take out two nights ago and was disappointed again. I ordered the shrimp spring roll and a side of fried rice. The fried rice was tasty, but over cooked and almost mushy. Forgivable enough. The only thing that saved the roll for me was the peanut sauce. The roll was mostly made of just cabbage, which was bitter. You can see from my picture how much cabbage was left over. Also, all of the herbs inside were VERY OLD...it gave the entire roll a bad smell. The leaves, as you can see in the photos, were old, dark colored, shriveled up and almost crunchy! I am baffled by the tremendous amount of positive reviews of this place. It questions if Yelp is the right place to seek out good restaurants... literally. We ordered: yellow curry, chicken, extra spicy; pad see ew with beef, and larb with chicken, extra spicy.. and what we were served was: 1) EXTRA SWEET YELLOW CURRY WITH MINIMAL CHICKEN, POTATOES... NO CARROTS, nothing. In short, a bowl of sweet f**king yellow curry. ABSOLUTELY NOT EDIBLE. 2) "Pad See Ew", supposedly, CHOW FUN WITH SWEET SOY SAUCE WITH SLITHERS OF BEEF. 3) Larb- HALF PLATE OF GROUND CHICKEN DRESSED WITH SUGAR, FISH SAUCE, LIGHT LIME JUICE WITH HALF A PLATE OF SPRING MIX PRE WASHED SALAD. Well, at least this wasn't sweet as the other two dishes. All in all, this place is TRASH for a "Thai" restaurant (if that's what it even is). I am giving this place a 1 star rating for the worst pad thai i've ever had and for my overall experience eating here. I ordered a pad thai with no beansprout and my cousin's food came out first. After 15-20 minutes of waiting, it finally came out but the noodles were now cold and mushy not to mention there was a good amount of beansprouts in my noodles. There was no flavor whatsoever, SUPER BLAND I'm assuming they took forever because they had to pick out everything and by the time they finished, the noodles had already soaked up all the sauce.
