I've been coming to Santana Row ever since they opened and the same goes with Veggie Grill. I'm sad because I no longer will be going here. The food and service were great, but the new automated parking system has made visiting Santana Row a total nightmare. Santana Row used to have plentiful, free, hassle-free parking; now, you run the risk of system glitches, like exit cameras failing to scan your car out and triggering erroneous billing warnings. The friction and hassle of dealing with property management's parking errors unfortunately means I won't be coming back. I hope the owners push Santana Row for customer parking validations to save their regulars from these automated headaches. It's a shame because I used to love coming here, but it's just too much of an expensive hassle. Food is already crazy expensive and then you add the total nightmare of dealing with their automated parking and then having to pay for it is just too much. read more

The staff were great. There were only about 4 people in the restaurant while MANY were outside. I haven't been to a veggie grill since the one near me closed a few years ago. I figured the lack of patrons was due to Plant based stigma but I knew better after getting my food. About the dish I had: I had been wanting to try their vegan salmon (27$) for months and months and finally made it down! The vegan salmon tasted so salty it wasn't edible. The texture was just like Omni pork spam layers smashed together to form a three inch fillet. The portion of sides was about half a cup of corn and about a cup of cubed roasted potatoes. Also no where did it say there was onions in the description (which I'm allergic to) but it was on the food. Overall the environment seems nice but I can understand why it was so empty due to flavorless bland but salty food. There were also out of their smoothies which I had hoped to get. I got Mac and cheese for someone who loves it and it scratched that nostalgic itch for them but I found it so bland it was basically just buttery noodles. Their chocolate cake is always good though! All in all I think it's better to support other locally owned and operated plant based spots. This has become too corporate and lost me in the process. I'm grateful I had the opportunity to try this salmon like this instead of buying the jumbo restaurant portion. Like that they have expanded their menu options to burritos and tacos over time . Added more burger options after the NLB acquisition. And now they also have plates , for the same traditional American food options. Recently tried the steak Filet ($28) and Salmon plates ($24) . The taste was good, however they were pretty expensive. I understand that these are specially manufactured mock meat, but the pricing is akin to real meat. while meat eaters may have traditionally been to used to high prices for high quality meat , not sure people on vegetarian / vegan diet would shell out this amount for a meal at fast casual restaurant. read more

I had a reward that I was wanting to use, but it wasn't working an app, but the kind lady honored it. I had a craving for a steak burrito and stopped by veggie grill on my way home from hot yoga. I was recently told I have high cholesterol so I'm trying to substitute when the option is available to me. I made the order online for pickup and sadly spent 20 minutes trying to figure out how to charge my car with blink as I usually use ChargePoint. The food was ready very quickly by the time I had parked so I expected it to be cold, but my burrito was still warm when I got there! There were 3 other groups dining when I got there, and most people doing to go orders. I got the steak asada burrito for its high protein content. I would say it's 10/10 for value but maybe 7/10 for flavor, definitely needs the hot sauces. I ate half of the burrito, and as I was finishing the last part where it's mostly just the tortilla it fell out of my hands. Staff came over immediately and asked if I wanted them to make me another taco hahaha. I appreciate it but there really wasn't too much left anyway. Super friendly workers, cheap and easy spot!! Highly recommend. I don't know when it was taken over by next level and I did notice a lot of the menu change, but I'm excited to try more things. read more

Unfortunately I wasn't the biggest fan of the vegan steak and the vegan steak taco. I loved the vegan fish tacos they paired it perfectly with the slaw on top! Where the self serving drinks are you should definitely try their strawberry lemonade it's 100% fresh and there's also different types of salsa in that area I really enjoyed trying them all. I was searching for vegan food on Google maps and I came across Mas Veggies Vegan Taqueria. Haven't been, decided this is where I was going but SURPRISE! it's actually Veggie Grill. Parked in a nearby parking garage and there's several options at Santana Row. I walked towards the address, looked for Mas Veggies and found that it was Veggie Grill. Entered and had to use the restroom and was stopped because I wasn't a buying customer yet. So I explained I was going to use the restroom and then order. He was fine with it and that's what I did. Ordered and paid at a self service computer on the counter-- but you could order with a live person as well. Took a number and took it to a table. My order was brought to me. The guy even asked if I'd like a water cup. That was observant, thoughtful and nice. I had tacos and chik'n tenders. I've had the chik'n tenders before at a different location and this time was memorable-- better than I remember, would have again for sure. Tacos were good but if they weren't on the menu anymore, I wouldn't miss it. I did try to get one of the superfood smoothies and the very one I wanted was out. Of course. We were so excited when this Veggie Grill opened more than a decade ago (2012?), in part because I'm a lifelong vegetarian. At first the food was generally excellent and we enjoyed eating here frequently. Over time, sadly, this began to change. One of the low points occurred in May 2016 when a dead fly dropped out of my "Grilled Quinoa + Veg Burger" (see previously uploaded photo) as I was biting into it. We periodically returned, hoping that things would change for the better. Though there have been ups along with the downs, the general trend unfortunately has been in a definite downward direction. When we gave the restaurant another try yesterday, the avocado pieces on our tasteless kale salad were highly oxidized (dark spots prominently visible, as illustrated in the attached image). The tacos were soggy and the lettuce inside was wilted. The fries were dried out from being overcooked. Sorry to report that this was one of the most pathetic meals we've experienced at this restaurant--or any other, for that matter. Oh, well: at least there were no dead flies in our food. This is probably the last time we'll ever eat here. On a positive note, the guy at the cash register who took our order and brought the "food" to our table was very pleasant. We tipped him well. Love Veggie Grill! So happy that the Santana Row location was spared during their restructuring which closed their Walnut Creek, Saratoga, and Marin locations. This location is the only one left in the bay area. The employees here are always friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is clean and well-lit. Their Buffalo tenders (or wings) are our go-to! They're always crispy, flavorful, and perfectly spicy. We always order this whenever we're at Veggie Grill. We order this so much that we know when they are experimenting with the recipe. I hope they keep this current recipe as it's the best we've had in the last several years. The Baja Fish Tacos are also a family favorite! They actually taste like real fish. These tacos are topped with a generous amount of slaw, cabbage, and pico de gallo. If we're feeling a sandwich, the Crispy Chik'n or Chik'n Bacon Ranch are our usuals. If you're just picking up a togo order, try your luck along Olin Ave. The curb there is for DoorDash or togo orders and cars are usually coming and going. read more

The service was amazing, but the food was not as expected. The salmon was a bit too "fake" for my liking and the task of the fishy ness was a bit much. The corn was very dry and did not have any seasoning. The potatoes were to mushy like mashed potato's. However the fish tacos made up for the inconvenience. We told the waiter that the dish was not as we expected and he made it right by giving us 3 free fish tacos on the house as an apology. They have a great variety of healthy salads, sandwiches, and vegan replacements here as far as chicken and beef. I'm surprised that there's only one location of this in the South Bay. I tried the far east Thai chicken bowl, and it had really good flavor. I was expecting sauces to mix in separately on the side, but I may had to specify that I didn't want my sauces mixed into the whole bowl already. I did an online pick up order and ran in to get it. There really isn't a quick 5 minute grab and go parking area since this is located literally in the center square with a bunch of other restaurants. It seems to be averaged around $14 and that's not really bad. The place is nicely built and it's quite dark here and even quiet. Despite that, I tried tempeh for the first time and it tastes good.
