I normally do not give negative reviews for any business. Being a store manager I know how detrimental bad reviews can be. But I feel compelled to write this review. The food was a C+ maybe a B. The service however is why I am writing the review. Customer service is in my opinion the most important thing for any restaurant. I have had mediocre food and gave restaurants good ratings. BUT when you combine bad service with an average meal you get a D-. It took them 15 minutes to even get to the table, 3.0 minutes to bring us our appetizer and so on. We ordered shrimp in one of our meals and they brought chicken. They happily took the plate back then brought back the same plate and added TWO yes two shrimp to the plate. They did not remake it just added the shrimp! REALLY? They DID NOT refill my drink, I even set mt glass on the edge of the table so they would notice, it didn't help. Here's what I've had at Blue Mango: Appetizers: Veggie Rolls ($5.95)- meh, I've had better Cream Cheese Wontons ($5.95) - these were pretty good though I would say the ones I make at home are much better :) Entrees: Rad Na ($8.95 - flat rice noodles, broccoli and Chinese broccoli smothered in thick black bean gravy) - the black bean gravy is awful! Before I ordered it I asked if I can have peanut sauce instead and they said no (I think they have it all premade) and ended up hating the dish Sushi (vegetarian): Shitake ($4.75 - black mushroom) Age ($4.75 - Fried Tofu) Avocado Hand Roll ($3.95) I didn't find anything especially noteworthy about their vegetarian sushi rolls. Pros: *Huge menu *Lots of seating so you can just walk in without having to wait (restaurant isn't that big but it's usually not crowded) *Clean *Lots of vegetarian options (though I'm not a fan of most of them) Cons: *The food, it's just OK - their vegetarian Thai food isn't the best and their vegetarian sushi options are boring *Service - wouldn't accommodate my change of sauce request and my water glass was empty numerous times Bottom line, glad to have tried this place but won't be returning. I have wanted to try this place for ages, so when I got the chance I quickly hopped on board. Parking can get tricky though, especially on weekends - with Trader Joe's next door it is crowded and tough. You'll find something though. Stepping inside the interior is crowded and small. While the decor is pretty and I LOVED the wall paintings, the inside just feels cramped with as many tables crushed together. So lunch or dinner definitately doesn't feel intimate or anything. But still it's cute, can't deny it. Our server was a bit rushed with the lunch crowd so while she was fairly friendly, it wasn't a super nice experience. But it happens. She did get us everything we needed though and well, I can't ask for more than that some times. Decent service. I had a lunch special. It was the prawn and mango curry. I'll first say that is was a tad sweet. Not bad but just not great. The veggies, shrimp etc were tasty though and together I had plenty to eat and even brought some home. But at $13.50 it was WAY too pricey for lunch, I can only imagine what dinner prices are. It came with a standard, slightly bland soup. The salad was fresh but lacked dressing but the rice was fresh. Went there for the first time last weekend and loved it. Great food, great service, and we weren't pushed along to eat faster which is a big plus in my book. Oh and hands down the best pad see ew I've ever had. The noodles weren't in a big lump like most restaurants serve them. They were light, fluffy, and not bogged down with a pound of oil. First of all, I really like the concept of Thai and Sushi in the same place. My first time I had my usual yellow chicken curry and a salmon nigiri. Both were delicious. 2nd time I had take out and got panang curry and spicy tuna roll. Good, but I'll stick to my usual. I don't know about this crazy detailed spicy level they have (1-10,15). I haven't been enough to tell if it is consistent. The first time I had 5 and it wasn't spicy at all. The second time I had 7 and it surprised me a little. Went here with my girlfriend once. I feel that this place lacks... I can't explain what it is but it's just not what you would expect for a newcomer in the Coleman area. It has a very nice logo, and really looked promising when it was being constructed. But after trying the food, it's mediocre at best. Even though I'm probably going to get my head bitten off for saying this, Saby downtown on William St is more appealing to me than this spot. It's just aesthetically pleasing so people feel that this place is "good". In the end, Krung Thai is the way to go for good Thai food in the San Jose area..better yet go to SF and get King of Thai, that place rocks my world. To be honest, I was skeptical about a restaurant that specialized in sushi AND Thai food. But you should really give them a chance. I came here with my husband and we ordered the curly fries with curry (we got the panang), Thai-spicy green curry with chicken and brown rice, and pad see-ew with beef. I cannot rave enough about the panang curry. It was amazing!! Sweet and creamy and the perfect compliment to the crunchy curly fries. The green curry was very good too, though I could only eat very little because it was so spicy (my husband ordered it extra spicy and loved it. To be fair, our waitress warned us it would be very very spicy.) I was not a fan of the brown rice. It smelled kind of funky, and didn't compliment the curry very well. And the pad see-ew. My sister loves this place and I, on the other hand, am not really a fan. I've experienced better sushi elsewhere and as far as prices, I feel they are a bit overpriced for the amount they serve. After a couple years, my partner and I thought we'd try this place again. This time wehad the food delivered. One problem after another in a 3 hour span: 1. 4:30pm called the order in for a roll and soup 2. 5:30pm (no food arrived yet) phone service called and said they don't have the roll we ordered. WHY DID IT TAKE ONE HOUR FOR THEM TO TELL US THAT? 3. 5:45pm (an hour and 15 minutes later), our soup and WRONG order of roll came. 4. 5:45pm - ate some of the soup, called the phone service again and told them it was the wrong roll. THey said they'll reorder and deliver the right one. 5. 6pm-7:15pm (an hour and 15 minutes later) no delivery yet. WE ARE SO HUNGRY AND IRRITATED. 6. 7:20pm- we called and asked when our roll is coming. THey said in a few minutes. 7. 7:30pm - WRONG ROLL ARRIVED!!! AAAAAHHHH!!! The bf and I had to take a trip to Target and decided to try this place out for dinner. We got the Bangkok Special dinner for two.. It might not have been named Bangkok but it was some kind of special for two for $35 bucks. It included: - Appetizer Plate: Veggie Egg Roll, Chicken Satay, Cream Cheese Won Ton, Cucumber Salad and sauces. I really liked the Chicken Satay and would totally skip on the cream cheese wont ton.. It's filled with only cream cheese a little strange. - Choice of two main dishes we got the Penang beef and Basil Chicken. This came w/ a choice of brown or white rice. I personally like the Penang beef better, it was a curry with a lot of flavor. - Choice of any desert. We got the banana won ton's w/ coconut ice cream. Together they were good.. the won tons could've had a little bit more banana in them. Overall the meal wasn't bad for $35 bucks. We got a lot of food and ended up taking some home. Blue Mango was recommended to me by a friend who goes to the one on Stevens creek. I couldn't wait for it to open. After moving back from LA, we couldn't find a decent Thai place. I am so happy this place is here. I ordered food for pick up. Service was friendly both on the phone when I placed my order to the girl who greeted me at the door. Food was ready to go when I got there. I ordered the cream cheese won tons, the tofu chili and cashew stir fry, yellow curry and both white/brown rice. I've been here a few times and it's great. Perhaps they have adjusted the menu and portions since the earlier reviews because I thought the portions were really big. The prices are totally average for Thai restaurants. I mean, what's to complain about $9-$13? It's actually pretty nice looking inside, more modern, not so much wood and embroidery. I've tried the Blue Mango Shrimp and Scallop curry, stir fried pork and the Three Flavors Fish. The Three Flavors Fish was really good. I hardly ever get edible fried fish dishes at Thai places. My initial reaction to Blue Mango was, uh a to-go Thai restaurant?? Gross and keep away... However, I could not have been so wrong. Blue Mango is conveniently located in the Coleman plaza and is the cutest restaurant there! I love going here for their pad thai and thai tea. Their desserts are also bomb! An interesting fact about BM is that they are not just any thai restaurant, but they are a Japanese-Thai fusion place. Be prepared to see a menu of sushi items for you and your party! FYI- 4 starts because their menu pricing for Silicon Valley Restaurant Week is misleading. They tried to charge me $48, when the restaurant week menu online says $45. read more

Bad customer service. They were too stingy with utensils. Charging ¢10 for each sets in a catering order. Do they expect people to eat with hands when you do takeout? This charge could have been easily accommodated in the tip that I would have given. One can imagine how lowest standard of service can be expected when they take customer experience for granted. The food is not that great to make this the only Thai food to visit. I'll have some other Thai place to go next time. Or select other Cusine if this is the only Thai place around. This place is pretty good and has an interesting mix of Thai and Japanese food. Which is a combination I have not seen (usually encounter Chinese/Japanese or Vietnamese/Chinese restaurants). For appetizer we ordered Chicken Satay and Cream Cheese Fried Wontons... both were great. Satay was juicy and the wontons were crispy with a creamy cream cheese filling. We also ordered Titanic Roll which is Shrimp tempura, Spicy tuna and cucumber inside with Tuna and Avocado on top and garnished with Unagi sauce and Spicy Cream Sauce. VERRRY YUM. For entree we ordered a couple of things... Blue Mango Fried rice which is Chicken fried rice topped with sweet garlic pork... Good but basic. Pad Se Ew.... Flat rice noodles are stir-fried with broccoli, Chinese broccoli and egg.... YUM.. haven't gone wrong with this entree at most Thai places though. And Yellow curry... which had a mix of Chicken, Potatoes and Carrots in a curry sauce... goes well with the fried rice. By the time we finished our food we were so full... This place is complicated to review since somethings are very good and others are not. The good things we have tried are the Cream Cheese Wontons, Chicken Satay, and Pineapple Fried Rice, Musumum Curry and some of the stirfries. The biggest problem we have with this place is that they undercook the meat (especially the chicken and beef) in most of their dishes. To us this is not acceptable so when we come here we order our food either well done or without meat. Also recently the prices have gone way up and the quality is going down. The drinks were not offered until we already decided on our order. The tea was luke warm water with a cheap bag. The pad Thai was old rice noodles with too much chicken for the amount of noodles and far too much lime. No crushed peppers were provided on the side as I find in better places. The amount of crushed peanuts was paltry for the dish. The pineapple fried rice was so-so only, mixing raisins and canned pineapple chunks in with the cashews and chicken that needed to be cut into bite sized pieces. While we ordered a hand roll with the intention of it being an appetizer, it came out well after our meal, having sat on the counter in view for several minutes. The order of a soft shelled crab hand roll was a sloppily rolled piece with deep fried something. If there was crab meat in there, it certainly didn't taste like soft shelled crab I've had many times before. read more

Food is great here, prices are kind of high tho. I absolutely love my stir-fry dish. I like how you can pick the level of hotness (spicy) of your food. I chose 8. I tried their Blue Mango roll. We ordered Blue Mango for dinner through Doordash. We ordered 3 entrees and 2 appetizers. The apps were very average and exactly what is expected. However the meals were the worst I've had in a long time. The Pad Thai should have been called "Grease flavored noodles, with flavorless tofu and too much spice." Both dishes were both bland and too spicy for our house and we love spicy food. The third entree was Panang Curry which was also average but the portion was very small. The price was $12 and the portion was 1 cup without any rice. I would not recommend this restaurant to friends and I will be avoiding it. read more

I've been to this restaurant a total of three times. The first time was to order something to-go. I decided on the pineapple fried rice, and it was delicious and filling. The following two times were dine-in visits during the lunch hour. Service each time was welcoming and attentive. I've tried the Pad Se Ewe, Blue Mango Fried Rice, Beef Panang Curry, and Pad Thai Noodles - they were all very flavorful dishes. I personally like the special they have for $38 for two people. You get a sampler dish of all appetizers, two entrees, two thai teas/coffee, and a dessert. That's such a good deal! The restaurant has a great interior as well and free pads in the ladies' room. I have yet to have a bad experience at this restaurant, and it has become my go-to Thai food restaurant for lunch in San Jose. Great food and great service! read more

I'm surprised at the negative reviews. I've never had anything but a good experience here. I'm not a very adventurous eater so the fact that I'm eating Thai food is a pretty big deal. Everything I've tried from here has been delicious. The yellow curry, chili and cashew stir fry and pad thai noodles are so good and I love the veggie rolls. You can choose how spicy you want your food to be. I haven't tried the sushi here but I've been told it's good. I normally get take out from here since it's so close to my office but I've also eaten lunch here and the service was great. My server was very attentive, refilling water and checking on us. However she was not hovering around us or rushing us at all, which made the lunch very enjoyable. read more

Went here last year randomly and I remember the whole experience being pretty decent. "Decent" and "average" are the best words that come to mind when I think of this place. It's a quaint little venue; pretty small. We were very close to the next table over with a screaming kid. The venue is clean, which is a big plus for me. I've walked in and walked right out of places that look unsanitary (aka Hong Kong Saigon Seafood Harbor Restaurant where we waited 1.5 hours to be seated and when we saw how it looked and I saw the look on my parent's faces, I took them right out of there. But I digress...) I'd rate the food itself a 3.5; nothing memorable, but the dishes were palatable. I think my fav cuisine is Thai food so I've tried other Thai places and this one isn't as memorable as others. The service was average; nice waitress, but nothing that stood out in terms of service. Blue mango used to be our local Thai before they shut down their Stevens Creek location. My husband mentioned they had another branch and he had had a good lunch there.. So Friday night we decided to order up: - sweet potato sticks ( I can see how they would be tasty but they were soggy by the time we got home. Best eaten at the restaurant) - eggplant stir fry with tofu- flavorful and extremely tasty - cashew with dried chilli and tofu- again very tasty with lots of veggies - Penang curry- now this is what blew my mind- so so tasty!!!! Really wanted to lick the bowl clean! The portions aren't great for the price but it's not bad. Their service on the phone is slightly off putting. I called to order and after each dish the person on the other end asked " is that all". I even stopped her saying I have a few things to order but she kept asking me that!! You are a restaurant tempt me to order more don't ask me if that's all I want!! This place is very good ! If your are a vegetarian as well, this place is for you. For most of their dishes you have a choice of meats or soy product. This has become my uncle's favorite lunch place. We have been here every Wednesday for the last few weeks since I brought him here last month. This place is fairly small and decorated well. It has a sushi bar as well.
