Kate didn't care for Roses...she said they were "...a haughty thorny flower," although when Roses were gifted Kate responded with gushing compliments of appreciation. I think it was Irene Selznick who put me onto Stargazers for Kate. I took a stroll past 244 E 49th and up to Second Ave where by luck I found Blue Meadow and wow! I saw the 5 star reviews on Yelp so decided to give this place a call. I needed flowers the same day delivered. I had an appt at 9am so decided to try and call around 8:40am and see if they answered and was very pleased when Tom picked up! He was very polite and patient on the phone with me. He had to talk to his delivery person before he set out for the day and asked if he could call me back in about 10 minutes which he followed through on. We went to buy special flowers for a very special event for our friends in the morning of a weekday. We felt lucky that the shop was on the way to our friends place. The shop had fresh flowers but there was nothing unusual or special about the variety of flora or the ambiance of the shop. The variety of flowers in the shop are what you'd find at a typical NYC deli or supermarket. There is nothing wrong with supermarket flowers but if your going to a $$$$ flower shop, wouldn't you expect something a little different ,exotic or special? And yes Covid but I had been in another upper end flower shop that week and there is another upper end flower shop that I pass by regularly in my neighborhood, and they have had on hand lots of exotic varieties of flora and interesting pots and vases on display, so fresh "upper end" flowers and pots seem to be reaching the city okay during Covid. The arrangement was cut well, but "finished" off with just some hand crinkled not very attractively colored purple tissue paper, no ribbon, just paper mechanically hand crinkled around the bouquet by the flower arranger. And I think she took out a staple gun and put a couple of staples into the messy crinkled paper. The only other color available in tissue was black. When the flower arranger handed over the "finished" bouquet, it nearly slipped out of the loose sloppy tissue paper and dropped onto the floor. I asked for a ribbon and the answer I got was the flowers were secured with a band under the (sloppy crinkled) tissue paper. Okay, well. I don't know. Maybe they were just having a bad morning? read more

I called about an hour before closing to get a bouquet of flowers as a surprise for my girlfriend. I told the person helping over the phone what the purpose of the flowers were and if I could pick it up within an hour even though they were closing. Reluctantly, the person that helped me said he would leave the flowers at the laundry mat next door in case I couldn't get to him before store closing and told me not to rush myself. I wasn't sure what kind of flower arrangement I would be expecting but I was very happy and appreciative of the fact that he was able and willing to help me out despite last minute order. I told him my budget and off he went to set up an amazing surprise. The flower arrangement was spectacular and my girlfriend loved it! As he mentioned over the phone, the flowers would be ready next door if I couldn't make it and indeed it was. The folks at the laundry mat was helpful too. These are the most gorgeous flowers I've ever received! My Mom ordered them from out of state and the arrangement is beautiful, with luscious white roses, white and purple small lilies and tasteful green accents, like a classy Ferngully look.
