Horrible customer service to the point of being dishonest. Flowers outside were marked $10. I went inside to pay and was told they were $12 plus tax of course. I protested pointing out there was a sign indicating the price. I was told I could "take it or leave it". Next day I walk by and see the same sign for $10. Based on the mostly very good reviews here, I called to ask them to put together a "bright, springtime-themed arrangement" for my co-worker's birthday, and said I was looking to spend around $50-60. I stated on the phone that my co-worker has very good/discriminating taste, asking them to please only use very nice flowers in the arrangement. What I hoped to convey was that I wanted him to omit "filler flowers" and only use stems of higher-quality flowers (for example: poppies, tulips, daffodils, orchids, tulips, peonies, hydrangeas, runuculus, etc.)" - essentially, quality not quantity. I mentioned "pinks, and yellows." To be fair, I did not specify any types of stems by name on the phone. The person on the other end indicated that they understood, and since this is a florist and they are the experts (I certainly am not), I was trying to give enough instruction/ description of what I wanted without specific requests - trusting the experts to use their discretion to decide which stems to use based on my request and their current available stock. When I got to the shop about 20 minutes before closing to pick up, the flowers sitting on the counter for me were exactly what I did not want (see attached photo): Red hypericum berries, orange lilies, fillers... It's not a huge deal and the arrangement is "O.K", but frankly I could have gotten something much nicer (though smaller) by spending around $30 and picking out a few stems myself. I asked the older gentleman at the counter (whom I had spoken with on the phone) if we could swap out one particularly unattractive orange asiatic lily for a different stem, and he snapped back "no, you can't." When I pushed on this (my co-worker really won't be impressed by this, so I was a little bummed right when I saw it), he said it can't be changed because he had already cut the stem. He also stated that this flower was very nice, and balanced out the arrangement (his opinion, I disagree). It wasn't worth arguing over, so I forked over my credit card to pay $64 and change for this arrangement. I should have read the reviews on yelp more closely - sounds like Joe is excellent. Based on other reviews I've looked at now, it sounds like I got Joe's father (Joe was not in the store when I came in). Won't happen again. Additional notes: - There was no price on the bin of paper-white bulbs. I've usually seen them sold for $1 each, but they were $2/bulb here (based on the verbal response I got when I asked the price). - I was asked to pay in cash. read more

To get to the point. The man helping me ended my visit by calling me a stupid f-----g c---k (I'm Asian you can figure out what he said.) There are better more courteous flower shops down the street. Ridiculous. I needed to get a bouquet for my sister in laws recital. So I walk to this nearby flower shop. I step in. This older guy (see photo) looks at me and sighs and ask me how much I want to spend. Perks up a little when I tell him how much. Then proceeds to put together disgusting looking bouquet I wasn't happy with (again see photo). I ask for him to remake it with more specifics. Second still looks terrible. Then he starts talking about how he's wasting his lunch on me and starts getting hostile. And proceeds with a tangent of curse laden racist remarks. Needless to say I walk out at that point. It would be one thing if the flowers looked good but this guy didn't know what he was doing. The vile racism aside this type of customer service is really unacceptable. You shouldn't act annoyed when a customer walks in. If a customer is unhappy with your product you should work to accommodate, not get visibly irritated. Especially when there are 3 other flower shops within a minutes walk. Speaking of which. I went to a shop down the street. Wonderful customer service. Beautiful arrangements and made sure I was satisfied before proceeding to wrap it up. Unless you are into white supremacy and terrible arrangements avoid this place. read more

From start to finish the ordering, payment, shipping and delivery process was fluid. I spoke with some very delightful people on the other side of the phone especially this older gentleman- Donald? I think his name is. He was very sweet and up front about pricing and didn't try and sell me anything he didn't think I would need. He seemed like a stand up guy and that makes a load of difference. Pachira Aquatica - commonly known as a Money Tree was my plant of choice this order. Since it's cold weather it was quite a hassle for them to find one; they didn't have any in house. To my luck and with delivery time still under a week, a beautiful 4 1/2 foot tree was delivered. I was completely relieved since I didn't actually know what to expect until I saw it. When my boss returns from his conference I'm sure he'll be pleased with his new office addition and I can keep my job that much longer. ;-) read more

Wanted to send flowers to a patient at Memorial Sloan-Kettering, so yelped the address and ended up going with Sunshine Florists. The man on the phone (didn't catch his name) was super helpful, and promised to put together a nice arrangement and was mindful of my budget. I generally hate ordering flowers on the phone because you can't see them, but these turned out GORGEOUS. Just a couple of hours later, I got a photo of the arrangement via text from the recipient and it's a gorgeous and cheerful arrangement. Joe, the son,may be nice and offered to take the plant back, but his father is mean and very rude. He refused to take any responsibility and , besides calling his son an idiot, he said he didn't care if I spoke about this In the neighborhood and he didn't care if I posted a bad review in the NY Times. He refused to take it back or even give me some spray. I still think Sunshine Florist has some of the best prices for flowers in the city, so I decided to go ahead and pick up flowers from there anyway. I ended up calling Sunshine Florists at 10:45 AM, giving him my budget, and asked that he try to make the arrangement look more "modern and fresh" (with no roses). An hour later, I get a call from the person receiving the flowers with a picture emailed to me. They looked great!!! I just experienced possibly the BEST customer service at all time! Today is my niece's birthday, she lived & work in Manhattan area, and I use her office zip code to look for florist in her area, than I found Sunshine Florist, when I phoned in the order, I gave him my niece's old office address ( which my niece's office moved a year ago which I forgot) so when the florist delivery the flower to the address I gave them, of cause is a wrong address! But Donald at Sunshine Florist he is so nice, he helps me to track down the firm's new address and re delivery to the new office. Pretty dark inside, no sunshine. Owner is rude and sells yesterday"s flowers ! The shop was acceptable thirty years ago. I bought lilies today because they smelled good when I walked by. I watched him as he was trimming the stems , he quickly pulled off all the dead flowers and handed them to me scotch taping two stems. I wanted a bag to avoid getting wet. He refused to give me a bag and reluctantly wrapped in that glossy paper. Cash only and he charges tax! No receipt ! $20.00 for two dead stems is unacceptable ! It was not worth a fight. I had a very terrible experience this morning when trying to purchase some roses at this shop. I have come in several times and purchased flowers for my home but today I had the unfortunate pleasure of interacting with the owner. He is clearly a racist who does not value the business of minorities which is quite clear now by reading other reviews on yelp! He insulted me because I did not have cash to pay for my flowers and had to use a card because he does not want to have pay sales tax. He was extremely rude and I will not be going back and encourage my neighbors to spend their money elsewhere. i mean really, why am i surprised at sunshine's five stellarific-starred reviews? i had the same fabulous experience with joe. a few months late but as i promised myself, i was going to yelp about my trek cross town back to my car. i was looking for a bloom for my hair for an event and he not only made a suggestion but inSISTED that i take it with me making me promise to have a lovely time. i did and remembered this store during the event! what a genuine human being. really can't gush enough. shop is adorable with a cool pots selection. if you're looking to house a plant, definitely come here first! flowers are fresh and yet it's so cozy in there. everything is super tidy and cared for. the store is loved and starts the circle! favorite florist in the city and i don't have to try another one! read more

BEST FLORIST IN NYC! I called at 10:30AM asking for a $50 bouquet, whatever Joe preferred, for delivery same day. The bouquet arrived only 2 hours later (!) and was absolutely gorgeous with a VERY generous selection of beautiful and rare blooms with a vase included, beautifully wrapped in paper with ribbons. I wish I can give a negative review. Buyers, please do listen to all those negative reviews before! I ordered a bouquet for a friend's birthday over the phone from London. I trust them and ask them to prepare a $50 bouquet. They were so rude and not willing to spend even 2 more seconds to confirm the order. So this is what happened: 1. I was charged $65 instead of $50 on my credit card. 2. The flower was never delivered!!! 3. When I called next day, they came up with a bunch of excuses and refused to refund!!! I placed an order for delivery for today (day before Valentines) last week . They originally tried to deliver Monday (five days before my requested date). I only learned this when I tried to confirm the order. After seemingly fixing my order for today they messed up again... Today when I called during lunch they said they would be delivering. Well 6pm they still haven't delivered. I called up again they said they were never sent out. How about letting me know so my gf doesn't have to sit in an empty office on a snow day and wait? Joe picked up the phone and I said "Is this Joe from YELP"? He said Yep, 90 minutes later my wife had the most awesome long stem roses...and Joe called my cell just to tell me they were delivered...no issues. Absolutely delightful to work with! I had called another florist in the area before calling Joe...the interaction with Joe compared to the other shop was polar opposite. I knew fairly early that I felt comfortable with the flowers that Sunshine would send out on my behalf. When I called and spoke to Joe I asked him if he was familiar with the particular theatre that I was having the flowers delivered. Together we brainstormed ideas for the bouquet and then he quoted me a price. It was a little over my budget but not unreasonable. I told Joe that and asked what we might be able to scale back on to meet my price range. Soon after we got off the phone, Joe called me back and said he wasn't particularly fond of what we last decided BUT that he had came up with a solution that he thought would be better and still in my budget. AWESOME! He then reassured me that he had looked up the theatre and mapped out the route and would have it to the address at my requested time. I wasn't sure what I wanted the card to read, and Joes suggested I take my time and text it to him when I was ready. I did, and shortly after Joe responded telling me the flowers were on their way. Within 29min my partner had called to say he had received the flowers. I saw the flowers and they were beautiful. I highly recommend Sunshine Florist. BTW, it was Lexington Flower Shop that was so insanely rude. When I asked the associate if he was familiar with the theatre, he bluntly told me "NO."
