I would've given it 3.5 stars, but I'm in a good mood so I went with 4 rather than 3:) Negatives: the food was kind of under-seasoned to my taste, and home fried potatoes burnt, and I love potatoes, so that was disappointing. Positives: English muffins that they bake on premises were delicious, and poached eggs were cooked perfectly. I don't think I would come here again, but I wouldn't discourage you from trying this place out. read more

The food here is just fabulous! We went on a very busy Saturday morning and there was a wait. The staff was absolutely up front about that and communicated frequently. It was worth the wait. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the ingredients were so fresh, and the staff was so friendly even though it was obvious they were all working their you know what's off! We were told it would be about 30 minutes for a table, and were finally seated 50 minutes later. Six of us were crowded around a small table in the front, where people waiting for tables hovered over us. We then waited 15 more minutes for a server, and when we began to order were then informed for the first time they were out of two specials. We then had to take more time to decide. Unfortunately, the food wasn't worth waiting for. The poached egg was overcooked, tomatoes tasteless, and the bagel no better than the supermarket variety. Other items at our table were described as, "okay." While we were still eating we were asked if there were any plates that could be cleared - rushing us along. There are better options. read more

Quaint eatery in downtown Saranac Lake. Cozy space with extremely dedicated waitstaff and regular clientele. We had a window seat with a view of the sidewalk traffic for entertainment. I want to like this place. The food is fine and they have the biggest breakfast selection in town, but the service is awful. I've dined in three times: the first time it took a half hour to get my food. The second time, my boyfriend and I waited 25 minutes for them to take our order and then we just left. The third time, about 15 minutes to take our order and 25 minutes to get it. The first two visits were pre-covid, fully staffed. Just now I tried calling for takeout and was put on hold for ten minutes while I listened to the girl on the phone take 3 people's orders in store and then she walked away from the phone- clearly forgot about me. This town desperately needs another diner so that Blue Moon starts putting some effort in. read more

I've been to this resturant on two occasions. One time when I was staying close and the other when I was in Lake Placid. I only have good things to say. My friends and I came here for breakfast while we were in the Adirondacks for a trip. I was so happy we came here! First off, there's street parking in front of the cafe, but it said it's only 30 mins. The waitress said that they don't ticket in the fall/winter so we could stay on our spot. However, if you're worried, they do have a parking area in between the shops around this street located also right in front of the cafe on the opposite side. That parking lot is a 2 hour parking. You have options. The cafe has a rustic interior, which made it feel homey. You can choose to sit wherever you'd like and they'll bring menus to you. You also have the option of course to just grab and go. However, there's plenty of tables and seats available if you plan on dining in. I ordered the Sara Stack which includes 2 pancakes. I also added chocolate chips to it. By itself, it probably wouldn't taste all that special, but if you add fruits or chocolate chips like I did, I thought the pancakes tasted pretty good. The pancakes were very soft and the chocolate chips added an even better flavor. The prices here are fairly inexpensive as well. The pancakes are about $6. For all 3 of us, the total came out to $18. M They also have different alcoholic drinks available and later at night they hold live music and dancing. I wouldn't ever expect that from a cafe. BEST PART HANDS DOWN was our waitress. She made our experience 10x better. If you meet her, her name is Julie. She made us feel so welcomed and had a great conversation with my friends and I. She was just so friendly and gave the best service possible. If she wasn't there, I don't know if we would have enjoyed this cafe as much. read more

Me and my friend are on vacation here in Saranac Lake for the week. We were seated right away when we entered. If you cannot stay, they did have an options to order "to go" items at the counter. Menu had a lot of options for breakfast. Prices were average and ambiance was comfortable/casual. I got the the San Antonio special and it was great! (eggs, chorizo, pico, peppers). My friend got the pancakes with strawberries (they put them inside the pancakes!) and side of "tots." Which were a round potato slices with peppers and onions. Awesome breakfast spot I came to while I was in town. I don't remember the name but I got the special of that day and it came with Homemade chorizo. Waitress recommended the Homemade english muffin as a side, which was fantastic. They also had a Homemade hot sauce which was sweet and spicy at the same time. My girlfriend got the egg dish over a tortilla that looked very good too. My only qualm would be that I felt my portion (not so much my gf's) was a bit small for the price, and I thought the coffe would have been better coming from a cafe. Stopped in for breakfast. They had self-serve coffee where you could choose from an array of cute mugs to fill up with 6 choices of coffee. I liked the medium roast, black. Had the 3 eggs any-way which came with toast made from homemade-from-scratch bread of which you could choose white, wheat or rye. I got scrambled eggs with wheat toast. Eggs were standard fare. Toast was great! Server also brought strawberry jam...delicious! Server was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant looked to be undergoing some renovation mostly happening downstairs where the restroom is located but don't let that deter you from checking this place out. Great spot! read more

I'm not sure how you can serve breakfast and not know how to make a pancake. First pancake arrived charred - sent it back. Second arrived large and stuffy and filled with... uncooked batter. (This was after waiting 15 mins). Sent it back. We had paid already at this point, and so chose to use our money to get baked goods (didn't trust anyone knew how to make a pancake), and they were stale and old. Not surprised. When i went downstairs to use the toilet, there were the baked goods on a tray in the kitchen - exposed to the elements. Eggs were meh. This place is not only the worst place i ate at saranac (& no place was great so the bar was low), but it also may be the worst place I've ever eaten. read more

Cute cafe! Very busy in the morning hours so you know the locals love it. Staff were so friendly and understanding that we needed a minute with the menu because we were from out of town. Coffee was really good; refreshing and soul-warming. I got a breakfast sandwich on an onion bagel. Very yummy. It was made with two eggs and real cheddar cheese, no yellow stuff. We'll go 3.5. Went in Halloween Monday right before noon. Greeted promptly and told we could sit anywhere up front. After that, service lagged. Food was okay. I got the turkey panini. Hard to mess up a sandwich, chips out of a bag and a pickle. J got the open faced steak sandwich. It was supposed to be on garlic bread- not a hint of garlic. It was dry toast. The steak was cooked well but be aware of what you're getting- less "steak sandwich" and more piece of steak on toast. The accompanying potatoes were delicious though! Took over a half hour to get those two meals. The waitress never checked on us. J ordered a piece of cranberry apple cake from the display to eat later and actually threw it away. It was dense, dry and not sweet at all. This man has eaten stuff I've personally deemed a failure and thrown in the trash (and not because he's nice, because he's not...)and he opted to throw this away after a bite. Awesome breakfast joint! Great selection of teas and self-serve coffee. I came here two days in a row on my lake placid vacation and got blueberry Irish oatmeal the first time and cinnamon raisin French toast the second. Service is pretty quick and they'll let you linger if you're dreading going back out into the cold. There are local artists features here and I guess they have live music once in a while. Gotta pay extra if you want real syrup but it's worth it! Their egg dishes are on par and there's so many to choose from. My boyfriend got the San Antonio and the ranch house breakfast the next day. We came in for a late lunch and opted to sit at the table near the window, where we could do some people and scenery watching. It was a good choice, because we had way too much time to do that before we could place our order, even though we had been greeted, seated, and given menus immediately. I think a lot of the reason the reviews vary a lot is the inconsistency of the service. Of the 2 waitresses working today, one was clearly more enthusiastic than the other. In fact, after we had been sitting for about 8 minutes, I overheard the more enthusiastic waitress say, "Don't you have customers at that table?" to our waitress. We had also never been told the daily specials nor given water. Since I knew I wouldn't have time to stop at the Lake Placid Pub & Brewery today, I was glad they had a few selections on their menu here, which featured a decent number of beers and wines. I felt the burgers and sandwiches were also slightly inconsistent, but not bad. Sandwiches come with kettle chips and pickles. The reuben was large, but the sauerkraut was very sour. My burger was cooked to order, but it was served on panini bread, with the cheese I ordered, but nothing else - no lettuce, tomato, or other toppings. Yet this burger was $4 more than a specialty burger I had had just the day before at a diner closer to home... was I paying for the privilege of eating it in downtown Saranac Lake? I do like the atmosphere here, and I also liked their "late breakfast" menu served all afternoon; I probably should have selected something from that. The location is also quite convenient, both for strolling around downtown, and because it is right across the street from a large municipal parking lot. read more

We stop here every year during our multiple trips to Saranac. Don't get the exit door before trying their stellar muffins! read more
