We stopped here for dinner after a long day of hiking and visiting the hot springs in glenwood. We had a great dinner! There were 8 of us and it was during restaurant week so we got an 18" pizza with pitcher of beer for only $20.16. We ended up getting 3 of those specials- Hawaiian, buffalo chicken, and meat lovers. I think the Hawaiian was the best by far but half the group thought the buffalo chicken was best. So glad we tried this place out- you should go... You won't be disappointed! read more

This place is great to kick back and relax after a long day on the mountain; although not the most prompt service and our pizza was not as piping hot as I would have liked. We went with the goat cheese, mushroom and truffle oil pizza. Good; not great, but good. The Italian salad was big enough to share and very fresh. Even the cheesy garlic bread was impressive, yet simple and liquor selection was decent. The entire staff is relaxed, very hippie like for Vail area. Anyone that rates this place lower than 3-4 stars is a hater, don't believe them. I just got back from Vail, and we stayed at Lionshead. While looking for a place to eat on a Friday night, everything was packed ... but we were able to get into a packed Blue Moose without too much of a wait. I was beat down after a day on the mountain ... so I wanted pizza and beer. My expectations weren't high, but the Blue Moose beat them anyway. It's just great pizza ... and unlike the other reviews here it wasn't greasy. The crust was light (not thin) and chewy, it kinda reminded me of a Tuscan-style pizza place. My mother-in-law got a by-the-slice vegetarian, and my father-in-law was even able to order his personal pizza with gluten-free dough. I'd consider this a must-eat in Lionshead, and it's great for kids because they can draw on the paper tablecloth. Reasonably priced and great food after a long day on the back bowls. Don't listen to the haters. read more

Had dinner there during a rare Vail thunderstorm which made it quite crowded since their patio seating was unavailable. They worked hard to handle the crowd and we were seated right at the quoted 25 minute wait time. Service was attentive and the half Hawaiian half bacon cheeseburger pizza was very tasty. The pizza is really good. They also have a good beer selection. At 3pm they offer $1 beers and $1 slices. What sucks is, the service is amazingly inefficient. The bar was somewhat busy and ran out of pint glasses. Seriously? How does a bar run out of pint glasses? We were also passed between 3 servers; the final server came off break and took our order again... In the end, our bill wasn't accurate, but we wanted to leave so bad it was worth $10 to not argue. So overall, I wouldn't recommend Blue Moose Pizza. If they get more organized and maybe get more pint glasses they could be very good. read more

Ate here on the 4th of July, definitely would NOT recommend, we were seated on the porch because we had our little black dog with us, we requested a shaded table but did not get one, when we went to the table we asked to move to one with an umbrella and was rudely told No by the host staff, we asked to move once the tables next to us opened up, was told no because it had 6 chairs and there were only four of us, 20 minuets later they sat a couple of two at the table we were told we couldn't move to. It was 95 degrees and the strong Colorado sun but told multiple times we could move and then that we couldn't, It took an hour for our Pizza to get to the table, we sat there for almost 2 hours and all the tables in the shade opened up but we still couldn't move anywhere, before we got the check we moved to a table in the shade because the waiter said we could then the host came out and yelled at us, we went in and talked to the manager and after 15 minutes we were told we could sit there ONLY till we were all paid out, we paid check and left, we were patient and really good customers but were treated in a horrible way, if your looking for a place to get a bad table and yelled at from the workers there then this is the place for you! ( I would rate it a -1 star if I could, made a yelp account just so i could share this awful experience and hopefully save some of you) read more

Bar tender wasn't particularly personable, he was nice enough to me but as another patron tried to strike up a conversation about sports the bartender responded "yes, I saw it. I just don't care" with his back to him. That turned me off. Food was very good and reasonably priced for handmade pizza to order at a resort. This is hands down the best pizza in Lionshead and I would argue to say that it is the best pizza in all of Vail. I have visited this location a few times during the ski season in the past couple of years and it is easy to tell that it is a favorite as it is constantly full. The last time I visited the wait for a table was not long with only around a 10-15 minute wait. The decor for the restaurant is fun with the signature blue moose sculpture in the middle of the room and hand drawn paintings displayed on the wall. It is decorated perfectly for the family friendly ambiance that they cater to. We ordered a large winter and a large summer style pizza for the group. The winter pizza which had roma tomatoes, fresh minced basil, garlic, olive oil + mozzarella, we also added pepperoni. The pepperoni gave it a nice salty and spicy kick. The favorite pizza for the night was definitely the Summer pizza which included artichoke hearts, olives, mushrooms, spinach, pesto, ricotta + mozzarella. We added pineapple to this pizza and the salty sweet contrast was delicious. I recommend this restaurant highly and suggest it for take home or take out as the pizza tastes just as great after the fact. read more

This place has the worst customer service I have ever had at any restaurant! A group of friends and I went there over July 4th weekend, thought the prices didn't look bad and smelled amazing. Our waiter however ruined any liking we had. A friend ordered an Old Fashioned drink (Whiskey) and when it came it was 100% pure whiskey, not what she ordered and requested another drink. He choose to argue about it and relentlessly insisted the drink was fine. During the meal we consistently requested more drinks and water, and at one pointed ended up just sharing water glasses so we all had something to drink. But to top the night off at the end of the meal we requested separate checks. He refused to separate the checks and told us it would be easier for him to just bring one check and then we tell him how much to charge on each card. Ok fine. We did that. However, he missed the whole thing up and ended up charging the wrong amount to the wrong people. When we complained about the issue he said "Why can't one of you just pay? You're all friends, just owe each other. If one of you just paid we wouldn't have this issue." Excuse me, the bill was over $120.00 and you want one person to pay the full amount when we requested separate checks. He then gave himself a tip on top of the bill that we didn't approve. He by far is the worst server I have ever had. I will never go back to this place. read more

I used to work at the location in Beaver Creek, before it was a full restaurant and just had a small place in a hole in the wall. I hated working there because the manager's sexually harassed me and my co-workers were overly rude and competitive. That aside, the pizza is fun. You can order anything from a hot wing pizza to a chicken and ranch. The pizza is really the highlight of this place. I say don't eat the salads, solely because the pizza is the better choice and you can get a salad anywhere. I have been to both new locations. Do not expect to be seated fast or have anything done in a timely manner. Also, if you want overly pampering and kind personnel, do not come here. They hire foreign exchange people and local ski bums who have no desire to make your day pleasant and generally only want to get out of work to go party. My suggestion, bring your family and young kids here for a slice after skiing. Also, if you are coming solely for the pizza and not skiing, it is a very far walk from the closest parking garage so do not wear nice shoes :) read more

My daughter's soccer team made a group reservation to have a team dinner. We were told that the cost would be almost $20 per person ($19.26 to be exact) to have our team dinner at their restaurant. The cost included a pizza / salad buffet and a soft drink. I was shocked at the cost of this "deal" because we could come in and order a large specialty pizza for about $23, but since we were coming in as a group, it was going to cost me $80 to feed my family of four. Additionally, my kids are 11 and 7 years old and will only eat two pieces of pizza!!! I complained about their policy and was contacted by Sarah Franke, the Communications Manager. She stated "Unfortunately the policy and pricing are based on the space we are reserving for the group and the effort of coordinating an easy location and manner for the teams to gather." I fail to see how moving a group of tables together justifies a 75% price increase for a family of four! Does anyone else think this is the most ridiculous "policy"?! read more

I have come here every year several times a year , raved about how amazing the pizza and service always is , however my experience tonight was absolutely unacceptable... I ordered two rounds of drinks and food ,I decided to pay out right after ordering our second round of drinks ... However before I could finish my drink the hostess came over to our table and proceeded to tell us that they were on a wait and asked us to leave... WHILE I STILL HAD HALF MY Bloody Mary left to drink and my friend still had almost half a beer ... Out of politeness we chugged our drinks and left ... But it should be known that this was the absolute rudest thing I have had happen to me at a restaurant ... As much as I have loved this place for the past several years I doubt I will be able to rave to my friends about how great it is or even come back without a terrible taste in my mouth... The management should definitely have a talk with the staff about how they should be treating the patrons that come to spend their hard earned money at this establishment. If I spent money on food and drinks I should be able to sit at that table as long as it takes me to finish them ... It's not like we were sitting there watching a game on television , not ordering or contributing to the restaurant . read more

We did not get the pizza, so can't comment on that. The pizza did look good though. However, the food we ordered was not. It came out extremely late. About 50 minutes after ordering (and it was not busy). Three tables that sat after us received their food before us. After waiting all that time for pasta and sandwiches, all food came out room temp at best. The food was not fresh. Some of it tasted frozen. Although server was friendly the girl at the front was not. Almost seemed like people were inconveniencing her by coming in to the restaurant. read more

This is a really cute, family friendly pizza joint. The meal came out quickly, which was a huge plus because we were all starving after a long day in the mountains. Unfortunately, this was the greasiest pizza I have eaten in my life. The kids ordered the buffalo chicken pizza which was dripping in oil, and my calzone was even greasier, if that is even possible. We only had a few bites. It just wasn't very appetizing. If I am going to eat unhealthy food, I want it to at least taste good. We headed out for ice cream afterwards instead. read more

As did the tall blonde manager who seemed pissed anytime anyone spoke to him. The hostess kept looking at us so she knew we were not helped but never got anybody.
