We enjoy the Scenic Railway in Blue Ridge and really, if you're doing the 4 hour train ride, staying here is just the best option because of the location. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. One of my favorite things about the room is how many charging outlets there are. Some of the rooms also face the train, which is a nice view. Just note, the rooms that say "balcony" are not the typical hotel balcony with chairs. It's just a small step. Sadly, I don't have a picture. Breakfast is typical Hampton breakfast, with waffle makers, omelettes, sausage, oatmeal, fruit, and yogurt. Parking is closed off for hotel customers only (probably to keep out train customers who aren't staying at the hotel), but if you book on the app, your digital key will open the gate for you. There's also a $14.96 parking fee per stay (not per night) added to your total. Overall, great location for the Scenic Railway and highly recommend if you're in the Blue Ridge area.

What a perfect Saturday afternoon outing!!! Depending on where you're coming from, the depot is…read more~1.5-2 hrs from the metro area. BUT well worth it. We reserved our tickets in advance but had until 2-3 days beforehand to cancel with NO penalty. We received several reminder emails with day-of instructions. We arrived right at an hour before our ride, which gave us ample time to park, find our train car location, stroll through the downtown area and grab pre-ride drinks. We boarded with no issues about 30 minutes before the ride started and were pulling out of the station a minute or so after 3pm. Jordan was amazing! So knowledgeable with a great sense of humor. We were in a closed car - HIGHLY recommended for the summer months and on a train that travels about 15 MPH - and sat across from the sweetest couple celebrating their nephew's 3rd birthday. The hour out and hour return seemed to fly by! It was so interesting to learn more about the history of the area, as well as see SO MANY people out tubing, swimming, kayaking, spending time with family, fishing or just watching the train go by. Again, so worth the drive. We did pack ample snacks but the snack car is well stocked with refreshments (and alcohol). Several groups purchased pizza and other snacks from the downtown area and brought them on board. Do whatever tickles your fancy. A great adventure. For couples. Families. Kiddos. Small groups. Anniversaries. And MORE!

The…read morefloors had to be swept immediately upon entry, there were hundreds of dead lady bugs on the top floor, and a towel was found floating in the hot tub when we opened it. The host, Greg, also drove by the house and stopped to ask if it was all women staying, making us very uncomfortable, but we pushed the feeling off. Next day, he is in the yard with a couple showing them the property for their potential wedding, because they were in the yard we felt we had no choice but to let them inside. Again, we were uncomfortable, but let it go. Upon leaving we have received an $1100 damage and cleaning fee, for a pool table we never used. The owner has sent rude and threatening messages. Would not recommend staying with this group.
