For the last three years we have planned a "friendcation" to Blue Ridge, Georgia and every year…read morewe've used Mountain Top Cabin Rentals to book our cabin. Mountain Top Cabin Rentals offers luxury cabins to accommodate every occasion from cozy romantic getaways to large family reunions. Each year we've been thoroughly pleased with our accommodations as well as the customer service from Mountain Top Cabin Rentals. This year we booked our trip very last minute. We were lucky to even get a cabin considering we were only a couple weeks away from our desired time. We needed a place that would sleep at least six adults. We ended up booking a cabin that was nice but probably wouldn't have been our first choice had we not planned our trip last minute. Mountain Top Cabin Rentals gave us a 10% discount for being repeat customers (they also offer a 10% military discount). The first year we stayed in Bear Retreat. This cabin has a very similar layout to the one we stayed in this year, featuring a bedroom on each floor. That year we stayed in the downstairs bedroom which had an amazingly comfortable king sized bed, sitting area, wet bar, and private balcony with hammock (where I spent every morning admiring the mountains). Last year we stayed in Blue Sky Lodge which was a beautiful cabin perched high in the mountains. The road to Blue Sky Lodge was gravel, winding, and steep; if we had not been traveling in an all-wheel-drive car, we would have struggled to make it to the top. (The cabin description includes the disclaimer that a 4×4/AWD vehicle is necessary to make it to the top and they weren't joking!) But the view from the cabin was stunning and well worth the drive. We spent every night wrapped up in blankets sipping cocktails by the outside fireplace. The kitchen featured state of the art appliances and a gas range. Our only complaint about the cabin was the hard beds. Otherwise, it was perfect. This year we stayed in Big Sky View. This three bedroom cabin offers a screened in porch with full view of the mountainscape. The open kitchen was nice for our cooperative cooking. We stayed in the upstairs master suite which featured a screened in balcony, garden tub, and loft that was perfect for Emme. We had a few complaints about this cabin, like the second floor tub didn't drain, it was missing tools for the fireplace, the sheets on the downstairs bed were dirty, and kitchen needed some better supplies. But we also have been so spoiled by the previous years that this cabin just didn't seem as on par. All three of the cabins we've stayed in have provided amenities like a hot tub, grill, pool table, and indoor fireplace. Upon checking out this year, we asked for recommendations on the best cabins. Without skipping a beat, both customer service representatives suggested Amazing Grace as their most popular cabin. They also let us know they would be adding two new cabins to their properties. We will continue to use Mountain Top Cabin Rentals so long as we make trips to Blue Ridge.

However, I finally made it out here with my girlfriend (we are 31 and 28 years old). The town is small and nightlife minimal, but it has the perfect little bars and restaurants for a meal and light social life (pool tables or karaoke) before coming home to enjoy the beautiful fire pit and hot tub. That being said, the cabin is in a perfect quiet location with a beautiful view and you could stay in the cabin and cook on the balcony bbq and just enjoy nature. We will definitely be coming back.

This is going to be a long read, but worth it if you want a true detailed review…read more First, I would like to say that Expedia was misleading with their "8.0 Very Good" rating of the Reid Ridge Lodge. I don't know where they got those ratings from, but they're wrong. We made a last-minute reservation because we were traveling and needed a place to stay. I saw Expedia's rating & thought it looked like it had a nice cabin-like feel from the pictures. The listing showed only 1 king bed available (a suite), so I went with it. Then, I got on Google/Yelp & started looking more into the hotel, and I was instantly regretting my booking. I should have checked before booking but it was the only king bed available, so I felt rushed. When we arrived, the very first thing we smelled upon walking through the door is an overpowering pungent odor of cleaning chemicals (which is also reported in MANY other reviews). There was a small seating area where they serve breakfast in the morning. I cannot comment on the breakfast because we did not eat it. The hotel clerk was nice and got us checked in quickly. She advised our room was on the 2nd floor, "up the stairs", & was "the only room like this one". We proceed up a flight of stairs (no elevator) of the most awful 1990s looking skating rink carpet. The odor slapped you in the face all the way to the room. At first glance, the room looked decent (other than the smell). There was a living room with a loveseat, small bar with sink & mini fridge, & then the bedroom/bathroom were through another doorway. The smoke detector in the living room was missing the batteries, and left wide open. The knob for the a/c was also missing from the living room a/c (also reported in other reviews of missing a/c knobs). The room was hot when we arrived, so we turned on both a/c units (one in each room - living/bedroom) & were going to relax before heading out for dinner. As we lay there, on a concrete mattress, we couldn't get past the odor & decided to leave for a while. My nose was literally burning. We went & bought Febreze. We took our time at dinner, hoping the room would be cool when we got back, only to discover the a/c unit in the living room was not working & was blowing warm air (even though the broken knob was set to cold). By this time, it's late, we are tired and the listing showed no other king rooms available. Now we have to block the doorway (there was no door separating the rooms) to keep the cool air in the bedroom. I find a blanket in the closet. Now we need to figure out how to pin it on the doorway. When lo & behold someone else had to do THE SAME THING & there was already a thumbtack in the door frame waiting to be used. The bathroom was small & had a nice countertop & decent bathtub. However, it was not the bathtub advertised in the listing & pictures when I booked - it was supposed to have a garden bathtub. This room just had a standard tub. There was what appeared to be nicotine stains from the 1990s seeping through the frame of the bathroom door. It was gross. The mattress was so hard it was like sleeping on bricks. We did not sleep all night, & woke up sore & achy, with no rest to continue our travels. We couldn't check out of the hotel fast enough. Disappointed is an understatement. For the cost of the room ($207 per night), I expected at least a working a/c, comfortable bed & to be able to breathe. If you want the nostalgia of a 1990s family-owned American hotel, complete with the original carpeting & odor, then this is the place for you. If you want a sketchy, mafia style vibe, this is the place for you. Tell the owner his corvette was pretty parked outside the front door, but he should have invested in new carpeting & odor eliminator instead. Upon reading other reviews, and the owners disrespectful, rude responses to negative reviews, it is clear they do not care (telling guests to never come back). How is this place even still in business? Oh, and about an hour after we left, I could still smell the odor of the room on my clothing. Just don't. You'll thank me later.

The only downside was the 10:00 a.m. checkout time, which felt a little early, but everything else exceeded expectations. Communication was outstanding from start to finish. Before check-in, during our stay, and leading up to checkout, every question I had was answered proactively. The cabin we rented on Trina Lane was perfect for our family. It was clear that a lot of thought had gone into every detail. Helpful instructions were placed throughout the cabin in a way that was both decorative and informative, making everything easy to navigate without feeling overwhelming. The owners truly thought of everything, from extra batteries and firewood for the outdoor fireplace to all the comforts needed for a relaxing stay. The cabin was spacious, comfortable, and offered plenty of privacy thanks to the surrounding trees between neighboring cabins. Highlights included a fun game room with shuffleboard, an outdoor television, built-in bunk beds, a large dining table for gathering together, and three levels of sleeping areas that can comfortably accommodate up to ten guests. Check-in was incredibly easy. We were provided with a unique entry code and detailed directions, which were helpful since GPS could have led us to the wrong location. The views were beautiful, the neighborhood was quiet, and the entire experience was stress-free and enjoyable. I highly recommend this company, and especially this cabin on Trina Lane. If you're considering a cabin getaway, this is a fantastic choice.

We reserved our tickets in advance but had until 2-3 days beforehand to cancel with NO penalty. We received several reminder emails with day-of instructions. We arrived right at an hour before our ride, which gave us ample time to park, find our train car location, stroll through the downtown area and grab pre-ride drinks. We boarded with no issues about 30 minutes before the ride started and were pulling out of the station a minute or so after 3pm. Jordan was amazing! So knowledgeable with a great sense of humor. We were in a closed car - HIGHLY recommended for the summer months and on a train that travels about 15 MPH - and sat across from the sweetest couple celebrating their nephew's 3rd birthday. The hour out and hour return seemed to fly by! It was so interesting to learn more about the history of the area, as well as see SO MANY people out tubing, swimming, kayaking, spending time with family, fishing or just watching the train go by. Again, so worth the drive. We did pack ample snacks but the snack car is well stocked with refreshments (and alcohol). Several groups purchased pizza and other snacks from the downtown area and brought them on board. Do whatever tickles your fancy. A great adventure. For couples. Families. Kiddos. Small groups. Anniversaries. And MORE!
