With the absolute exception of Josh and Justice the staff at the Serenity House, especially female staff, are by far the laziest, most useless, whiney and pathetic group I've ever encountered. You ask them for a towel and they act as if you told them they were trapped under a fallen tree and the only way to survive is to chew through their own leg. It's very unlikely that the most apathetic a-holes would manage to somehow blindly wind up with the same job at the same place. Therefore the machine that drives the abuse, the indifference, the entitlement, the thievery, the trafficking, embezzlement is nurtured by it's board of directors. The website Insrumentl.com gives us Serenity's 2023 IRS 990 on file for their financial overview. Total assets $6,253,166. Total giving $0 What do they do with their money? Run out of toilet paper and turn off the hot water? Is that what 6 million gets you? The roided clown who plays pretend he's a biker that runs Serenity presently is a cartoon character, admonishing his staff for taking too much concern for a elderly lady who wasn't sure how the meal service worked. "You're not their maid or servant. They take more than 6 seconds of your time you're not doing your job the way we do it here" I was well within ear shot range to hear what was said to a very nice young man who was a resident and was working there too. He has since disappeared like everyone else who speaks up about Serenity. It's not safe. Stay away

Last time I was there, there was even a mobility scooter in great shape for way less than half price. It was pink, but you can't have everything. Last time I was there, I got a set of 3 grab bars for $8, a large microwave for $65 and some wood strapping for 50¢ a foot. I got a ceiling fan with light for $50 last year. This time of year, they're marking down items to clear out their warehouse for new Spring donations, so you can get large price reductions. Oh, they also have have seniors' day on Saturdays for 25% off. The store is mostly staffed with volunteers, some of whom are working as sweat equity for their homes. That means they are all nice, although they may have to call someone else over to answer your questions. That person is always knowledgeable. The cons are it can take awhile to get checked out and the place is a little chaotic. There are different sections, yet there is so much in each section that you need to poke around. I actually like poking around, but some people don't. In short, leave extra time to poke around.

We sent pics of what we had and the lady coordinating said she believed they could "most likely" take what was offered. At 12:10 today we called because no one had showed up or contacted us. We're informed they "got started late" and had other delays. But despite having means to contact us, not a word while we waited on them to show. We told the person we talked to that we had to go take care of other things as it was my only day off this week. We asked if they could come back after three, which was agreed to. A few minutes later the driver calls and tells us he's "right here." What, in the driveway? No, fifteen minutes away. We inform them we're already leaving and they will have to come when it was agreed upon. Why should we waste more of our time waiting if they can't respect our time when we're TRYING TO GIVE THEM FREE STUFF??? The guys finally show up when agreed and are acting all surly, not even saying hello. Take half a glance of what we're offering and finally spoke to inform us it's "too damaged" to take. Which is hilarious considering I'm seeing other reviews online saying they sell heavily damaged stuff without pricing it accordingly. I'm attaching pics of some of what was offered just to show I didn't try to send them with garbage. It's not showroom furniture, but if it was we'd be selling it as we're not exactly rich. It felt a lot like it was turned down just because we didn't want to continue to sit around waiting forever for people who couldn't so much as pick up the phone to let us know they'd be late. If they had, we could have done errands and then been back when they could actually show up. So I guess this stuff is going to the dump. It feels like a shame because it is fully usable stuff even if it isn't perfect. I'd say it would certainly be of interest to someone who could get it for a reasonable price. Long story short, donate elsewhere if you can. These people are petty and don't respect your time at all, and apparently don't actually need any donations. Stuff happens and delays happen, but the most basic courtesy of communicating with us could have saved us all a lot of trouble.

I've really enjoyed working out here so far - it's clean with tons of equipment and super welcoming staff. Pro Tip: most SoCal memberships include nationwide access so you can keep up your routine when traveling (at no extra cost)!! All you have to do is sign their local waiver specific to their location. Just tell them you're nationwide and they can find you in the system. There are three locations in this area and you can use them all - this one, the one in the next town over (Sequim - and it has a pool!), and the one further north in Port Townsend. But it's my understanding you have to sign the waiver at each one on your first visit. They don't have a pool here at the PA location but they have a giant basketball court, tons of machines, free weights, treadmills, and any other equipment you could possibly need. Even at its busiest I never have issues with space or having to wait for gear. I've been using their treadmills - all of which seem very modern, smooth, and easy to operate. Their dumbbells and kettlebells are also mostly newish and in excellent condition. My only complaint is their weighted medicine balls - they're poor quality and in terrible shape - everything else has been great. They even have a dedicated and well padded stretching area. There are numerous cleaning stations scattered around and everyone seems to be great about cleaning the equipment when they're done. This YMCA is centrally located in town - very easy to get to and find with plenty of parking and clean bathrooms as well. They offer lots of classes too. Staff have all been wonderful and I've loved being able to keep up with my regimen and not loose my gains just bc I'm traveling.

When Ms. Williams provided therapy…read morefor my then, 7 year old daughter w/ severe behavioral problems, she was very inexperienced at the time so we were in the process of getting a new therapist. Allison knew & agreed that my daughter could go on a trip to visit her birth mother in Arizona. The first time she acted out while on her visit, I called Allison and explained what happened. Instead of discussing it with me further, she decided to call child services and have them go do a welfare check at the birth mother's house. The CPS in AZ found nothing wrong & left their home. The following day, AZ CPS contacted Oregon DHS and were told that I wasn't allowed to make the decision to allow my kiddo to see her birth mother & requested that AZ remove her & fly her back to Oregon where she was put into a foster home. That was complete nonsense as my adoption paperwork clearly stated that it was MY choice but AZ wouldn't listen to me or accept proof of this. The can of worms that Allison opened put my family & I through hell for a year! Due to all of this, I was very distraught & asked Allison why CPS s called. She lied to my face multiple times saying she did not make that call & didn't know how or why CPS would've gotten called. It wasn't until after DHS gained custody of my daughter & they requested Allison's notes from their counseling sessions that I learned that she WAS indeed the person who made the report. Her notes had so many inaccuracies that were used against us that I didn't even know existed until they came out in court. For instance, she claimed that her and my daughter were having a counseling session on our front porch (which was true) but then stated that we'd locked our child out of the house. That wasn't true, our daughter just wasn't strong enough to open the front door, ever! That is only one example of something she wrote in her notes that was inaccurate but the notes were FULL of inaccuracies & every one of them was used against us. Allison never questioned us about these things, she just wrote them in her notes which were eventually used to take our daughter away from us for a year. The damage she caused to my family was extreme! Be CAREFUL about involving this woman into your lives, you may truly regret it! She's not as sweet and caring as she seems, protect your family and don't give her a chance to make a huge mistake & damage your family like she did mine!!!

They have many other services…read moreas well as church functions, but the food bank is the only one I've ever had experience with. It is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 1-3:45. You can come once a month. You can go in for bread, I believe, as often as you need. First, I would like to say that I really appreciate the people and the service provided at the food bank. They really help people who are down on their luck, so to speak, and need a helping hand to get back on their feet. The way the food bank works is first, you have to sign up. You do this by bringing in IDs and address verification (a piece of mail, for example) for everyone in the household. If you have children, bring in their birth certificates. The good thing is that once you are in their system, you stay in their system even if you do not go for a year here and there. It is all computerized. After you sign up, you come in and take a number from the table in the middle of the room and wait to be called. Once called, you sit down with the intake specialist who will ask you whether you need toilet paper, a bar of soap, dog or cat food, and anything else specific. They try to meet specific needs if they have it in the back. Once your order is taken, you go back and sit down (yes, there are lots of chairs) and wait for your name to be called by the workers in the back. They will roll your groceries out on a cart that you can use to take the food to your car. The Salvation Army is very disability friendly with chairs and carts to help people who can't stand very long or carry things very far. While you wait to have your number or your name called, you can browse the bread and produce in the front room and take as much as you need. There is usually a free table as well that has odd things on it or expired things that need to go right away. The Anacortes Salvation Army gets an A+ for helping persons in need with food and for providing a disability friendly environment. The workers are very kind and compassionate, make eye contact, and smile. I highly recommend their services to supplement your food if you find yourself in an emergency.
