Pretty good chowder, though not as good as the Cabby Shack in Plymouth. That's the gold standard in our family. Nice flavor though. My steak and Bleu cheese app, which I had for dinner, was quite good. My nephew enjoyed his cheeseburger from the kids menu. My other nephew did not like his chicken tenders. I believe they are homemade and they aren't normal tenders. They have a distinct flavor I can't put my finger on. I didn't mind the tenders, but I can see why a 5 yo wouldn't. We had the acorn squash bisque, French onion soup, Black and Blue Steak Tips and Small Batch Chips - everything was so tasty - can't believe we haven't come here sooner! My only issue was the French onion soup - broth was good but not enough- more onion than soup and way too little cheese- I'm used to a meaty pile of Emmental or Swiss cheese and it was sparse. Went on a Sunday night, place was empty except for about four to six little leaguers with their parents and a few siblings, total of maybe 20 people. Two people were seated at the bar. Got seated quickly but took a good 10 minutes before anyone came by the table. Ordered the wings appetizer and it was very good. Ordered a couple of burgers that took about 35 minutes to come out. Burgers were pretty good, good portion and good amount of fries. Pub food isn't cheap anymore, food was good...service was slow and attention to the table was lackluster. Wait staff seemed to be talking among themselves majority of the time. And while the Red Sox are not as good as they used to be, six televisions and not one had the game on...I hope the place survives as it has pretty good food and a great downtown location. read more

How have I never been here before?? My friends and I went to the Fiesta de Cervesas with Mayflower Brewing and it was such a great night all around! The food was incredible , the staff was attentive, and the vibe was so fun. Went in for dinner with my wife. Really enjoyed the specials they had on for cinco de mayo. The birria tacos were amazing, the food was so good we ordered wings to go for a late night snack, also delicious. The staff was very attentive and friendly, great spot for a date. Back again to try other items on their menu. Again, great service. Hostess very polite and friendly. Our waitress Victoria was attentive, courteous, friendly, polite and professional. So was the food server. Ordered the bowl of clam chowder again and the Oar burger. Both were delicious. Burger cooked perfectly as requested, rare and very tasty along with the seasoned crispy fries. I hate places that give you Cesar salad with the ends of the lettuce. Got served a sporadically barely dressed bed of large romaine ends. Took away from the steak that was cooked perfectly and the rest. I should have sent it back. Service was good. read more

The food is much better than it used to be! The only issues I have with this place is sometimes the wait staff can be a little slow even when its not busy and the bar is a little underwhelming, cocktails are alright but aren't anything special in terms of taste. There are other places on the same street that have very talented bartenders. We joined Blue Oar for Mother's Day. The server was very overwhelmed as she was the only server working that day? Our food was all mediocre, my burger was ordered medium rare and came out well done. The chicken fingers appetizer was odd, big pillowey batter that barely stuck to the chicken. No dipping sauce or anything - almost like Chinese food chicken fingers. The drinks were solid but food certainly wasn't worth what we paid - cool place for drinks but eat before you arrive. :( read more

Service was excellent. Hostess, bartender and table server were all very good. My wife and I went there last night before the Blues Traveler Concert at the Music Circus and ordered an Oar Burger, which is a substantial single patty. We ordered it medium. The meal came out with 2 thin Patty's (not medium) because each Patty was so thin. I did not say anything to the server because the place was extremely busy due to the pre concert crowd. If they ran out of Oar burgers, they should have told customers that they would not be getting one substantial Patty and instead it would be 2 Pattys that could not be cooked to a medium temperature because they are so thin. Whomever orders or makes their burgers should take into account days they know will be busy and have the required ingredients on hand for that day. read more

My wife and I stopped in for dinner and drinks. Parking is limited but street parking close by. Small and cozy inside, nice mix of tables/tabletops and bar seats. It was quiet when we got there but started to get busier. I could see it being jammed at times (prime hours). We sat at the bar, bartender was very pleasant and helpful. Great vibe inside with TVs and blue tones. We had the chicken sandwich and Caesar burger - both were tasty. Chicken was a nice size and the burgers are big and pack some flavor. We stopped in for dinner now that this location is under a new name. It was okay. I had the house salad with salmon- the fish was good, but the salad dressing was oily - not in a good way. My husband had a burger which was only okay - it was dense, but cooked properly. Fries were good. Mixed results for sure. Atmosphere was improved from the past but overall, still a somewhat dark bar. The service was very nice. We will try it again for other items on the menu. read more

Checked website for kitchen hours drove 45 minutes, arrived 50 minutes before kitchen was scheduled to close only to be told that they decided to close the kitchen down early, meanwhile, two tables had newly delivered plates of food on and a handful of people were eating at the bar. They should either remove the kitchen hours from the website or stick to them, super inconvenient and inconsiderate. read more

Have been here twice so far once for dinner and once for brunch. For dinner we had the corned beef eggroll which was excellent. Then we had a cheese burger which was good, black bean burger that tasted good but fell apart and fish and chips which were very good. Has the churros for dessert which were good especially when dipped in the Nutella but a bit dense. For brunch had the corned beef eggroll which was not nearly as good as the appetizer version. My wife had the fish tacos which were odd. The tortilla seemed stale, wasnt soft or crunchy but the fish was good. Being from Houston we have eaten a lot of corn, flour & wheat tortillas but never had one with this consistency. Overall we are looking forward to more dinners here because of proximity read more

We went there for Easter and sat at the bar! We tried a lot of foods, Irish egg rolls, black a blue steak bites, and also the special, lobster crepes, all were absolutely amazing! Entrees we had the lollipop lamb with bacon wrapped asparagus and potatoes, French onion soup and Cesar salad! All the food was cooked perfectly and the vibe was perfect for a Sunday evening out! Blue Oar hit the ball out of the park across every category I would rate a restaurant in. The space is great, dining room, bar, high top in the middle for people who aren't able to sit at the others. The menu was really diverse with a lot of great selections we didn't expect. The staff was super attentive - everyone was a team helping serve the guests versus one server. When the food came we were thoroughly impressed. Awesome burger and overheard other guests raving about their meals as well. Bonus points for the TVs - this will be a great place to catch a game, something Cohasset was in dire need of. We will be back often!!! read more

I know that this is a new place, but they need to do better. I ordered fish and Chips. It was so greasy that I felt nauseous. The worst fish and chips that I have ever had. I could see the grease shimmering on the fries. Otherwise, I like the new decor, the beer was good and the staff was friendly. The place was very busy. understandably the restaurant is in its few couple months and it usually take 6 months if so to really crank. burger was too salty and was too small for the bun - disappointing and the sweet potatoe fries were soggy.
