The sandwich I got was pretty good, it had good ingredients but did lack some flavor. The service was nice and the prices are good. Lots of parking in the back. The decor and ambiance is nice and cute.

As someone who isn't from this area, compared to other places the menu might be small in options, but i believe as a Vietnamese person that the quality is up to par. The pho tasted homemade to what my mother would make and the vermicelli dishes taste like what it should. I recommend this place to those close around the area or not to give this place a try!

We have been meaning to try this place for quite some time as both of us are fans of Vietnamese food. My husband and I had some time to stop for lunch recently after having run several nearby errands. We arrived at about 1:30pm and found ourselves in a nearly empty restaurant; only one other table was occupied. We had noted that the parking lot was virtually empty and I wondered aloud whether we should just pick another place to eat. We opted to stay. We gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, hoping that maybe we missed other people who had come earlier for lunch. Upon entering however we saw that there was just one other occupied table of two. A couple of other people came in to pick up take-out but otherwise throughout our time there it was a ghost town. Years ago, in this same spot there was another restaurant serving Greek and American food and we enjoyed going there. The restaurant looks much the same as it did back then. It sits in a small strip mall. The building is fairly nondescript on the outside, prettier on the inside. There is a bar area (with full bar menu) with stool seating and then two larger dining spaces open to each other. There is ample parking both in the front and back although it makes sense to park in the back as that is where the entrance is. There are some tables for outdoor dining but the area looked closed down although the weather is certainly still excellent for eating outside. This may have to do with lack of help or lack of adequate business to support additional dining. To cut right to the chase: we did not care for anything about our experience here. Our server, and it looked like he was the only one in the place, was nice enough but not particularly attentive. He seemed quite young...perhaps the owner's son? He was not well trained on service or table setting. Once we were seated out came mason jars of ice water which was appreciated but upon taking our first sips we noted that something was off-tasting. Eek! I think perhaps the problem stemmed from using ice cubes that were old and stale and hence gave an off putting taste to the water. I don't what else it could be since our water in this area tastes just fine. With that issue, we each ordered a bottle of Saigon beer. My husband suggested we not say anything to the waiter about the water not wanting to get off on the wrong foot. In hindsight I disagree with him. If you can't get the water right.... The waiter quickly brought out the Saigon beer but did not bring glasses. I had to flag him down to ask for them. I am not adverse if on a picnic for example or in some *extremely* casual situation to drink beer out of a bottle but I don't prefer to do that and certainly don't want to do that in a restaurant. Similarly, the table was "set" with only napkins and no utensils of any kind. We started with an order of shrimp spring rolls which came with peanut sauce. The peanut sauce had some kind of thickener added to it as the consistency was a bit gelatinous (even that word is off-putting but it is apt) and it was mediocre at best. I am betting it is not made in-house. The spring rolls themselves were flavorless and rubbery. There was very little shrimp. A spoon was needed to dole out the peanut sauce but we weren't given one. We each poured a bit of the sauce onto our plates which of course then left drips along the side of the ramekin which fell onto the table. We each ordered a pork banh mi. These were only marginally better than the spring rolls. The roll was crusty, warm and tasty, but we were underwhelmed. Usually banh mi are an explosion of fresh flavors and these once again were bland, uninspired and underspiced. There was something oddly sweet in the dressing on the banh mi. I couldn't place what it was exactly but I didn't like it. I left my banh mi mostly unfinished. We got out of there pretty quickly and left hungry. It was not a pleasing experience on any level. There are many Yelp reviews from customers who clearly like this place. Maybe this was an off day, maybe the quality of food and service is affected by the ongoing pandemic and lack of adequate help. I don't know and it doesn't matter. Train your staff in good service including how to set a proper table. If you open your doors to customers, make sure what you are serving and how you are serving it is up to snuff even if that means cutting the menu back. My instinct was to leave once we saw how empty it was inside. Having ignored that instinct, I thought to leave after that first sip of water but ignored that red flag too. Note to self (and this is a note I have given myself countless times!)...listen to your inner voice! Just because you have already been seated in a restaurant, doesn't mean you can't get up and leave. It's a shame because we like supporting local businesses but this won't be one of them.

Come on Nguyen's Kitchen, this is UNACCEPTABLE $10 banh mi, 3 tiny slices of meat, 1 jalapeño slice, 1 half cucumber slice... do better

We both liked this Vietnamese restaurant, a 10 minute drive from the beach in Nantasket. I got the Grilled Onion Beef Vermicelli and the wife got Thin Beef Pho. I don't really recall any/many mint leaves in my dish. And I wasn't thrilled with the fish sauce which I felt was a little too sweet, but a lot of people like it that way. Overall, I felt this was a good value with decent prices and food quantity - although I wish they had been slightly more generous with some of the veggies, i.e. cucumber, scallions. My wife's Pho dish was also quite good and I thought the broth was exceptional. We also got Vietnamese Coffee and Thai Iced Tea. Both were served in generous sized jars (pictured) and were excellent, as were the veggie spring rolls. Overall good quality and good value. The service, as my wife and some of the other reviewers have noted, was exceptionally courteous and pleasant. Being a Boston area native, I'm used to surly service so I was less affected by this. Very nice outdoor dining area too. They took part of the back parking lot, partitioned it, and set up tables and plants

I'd been meaning to try this place for a while and finally got the chance this weekend (my cheat day Saturday). The entrance to the restaurant is in the back where there was ample parking. The ambiance is a little kitschy but cute. The Christmas decor is still up in spots in March. I visited at around 1pm on a Saturday and pretty much had the place to myself for most of my meal. Two other parties joined while I was eating. The customer service was great and unexpected given my experience in city based Vietnamese restaurants where the check ins with the waitstaff are typically few and far between. I had the fresh spring rolls with shrimp and peanut sauce, the signature pho, and hot Vietnamese coffee. The spring roll wrappers weren't well hydrated and were a little rubbery. Each roll had the equivalent of maybe one shrimp. I was left wanting more shrimp flavor. The Nguyen noodle soup was okay. The broth was very mild, there was a lot of noodles (I would say more than the 6oz industry standard) and the meats, with the exception of the rare steak slices, were few and far between. I was really looking forward to a little more tendon. There were just enough toppings with the bean sprouts, Thai basil and spicy chili sauce. The hot coffee was a treat. In the interest of full disclosure, I have an unusual affinity for sweetened condensed milk. Some might find this drink a bit too sweet. Overall, this was a solidly okay experience. It's not like the larger pho places in the city and it costs double. I understand why the flavors might be milder in a suburban setting that doesn't cater to a larger Vietnamese population, so I wasn't overly disappointed knowing that going into this experience. I will try again when I can't get to my favorite spots in Dorchester.

Hooper's Judge, I judge NOT!…read more Does anyone care about food and guests anymore? Service? Experiences? Well, our first time here at Hooper's Judge was such a disppointment, and here's why! To start - Hooper's Judge is a newer establishment in Cohasset about 20 minutes from Derby Street Hingham. I was craving decent seafood to start off my birthday week and have been wanting to try this place. Street parking is not that bad and we were able to score a table without reservations on a Sunday evening which normallly never happens. Upon walking in the young hostess brought us to the sun drenched table which at first I was like "at least we have a table." After a few minutes gone by our server came over and asked what we wanted to drink? Mind you I asked her about a few of their wines and she had no idea of what they were. So she brought me a sample and I went with the California Rose and my husband had a cocktail. Also, the owner/manager who was drinking wine at the bar with her friends moved our table since the sun was beating down on us and it was very uncomfortable. First off I see so many warning signs with the owner drinking her wine at the bar------NO Manager or Owner should ever be drinking on the job PERIOD! I know its brand new, but you should have a shade or something to block out to sun for guests because we were not the only ones complaining. In the middle - After awhile went by we ordered their Shredded Ceaser Salad to split. What was nice is they brought 2 separate plates over but not enough dressing and we never saw our server again to ask for more. Service I will say was not the best, but I feel like she was the only server to attend to all the tables. The End - Our dishes arrived and my Salmon was overcooked (btw I did order at first the Swordfish but seconds later my server came over saying it was sold out). She took my dish back, apologized and then a few minutes or so later MY SAME DISH CAME BACK with a different perfectly cooked Salmon. Know how I know? One of the Asparagus was missing and half of it was still on my plate___GROSS. Isn't this a food violation? That is so gross and if the Manager/Owner wasn't drinking (on the job) her wine she would know what was happening in her kitchen and on the floor and she would care what the outcome was but I guess NOT. You should be a shame or yourselves to serve food like this. The Manager did come over and apologize but that wasn't good enough. As a newly opened restaurant in the heart of a wealthy town Cohasset this shouldn't have happened and I will never be back...Ever. And, maybe you should think twice of coming here! What has happened with restaurants? Doesn't anyone care of food and guests anymore? I am sad that this happened to us and I hope it doesn't happen to anyone else. I would go elsewhere if you can and hope that after this review things will change!
