This restaurant is along the Riverwalk, so it's conveniently accessible from the street or the walk. It's dark but inviting inside. Service was spotty, ranged from us being forgotten to having the wait staff right on top of things. We were there just after noon, so had items on the lunch menu. The bento box was chock full of goodies. Tempura, 4 pieces of California roll, in addition to chicken, plated on a pile of freshly sautéed veggies including cabbage, carrots, etc. lunch time is definitely a bargain. To clarify, this review is for the poke and ramen we had yesterday, which seems to be "attached" to the sushi restaurant. Different entrance, but food was prepared from the sushi part. Ramen bowl- My husband enjoyed his seafood ramen bowl-no complaints. Poke bowl- I was really hoping I'd enjoy my poke bowl, but it was just ok. Beware that if you order "pickled cucumbers" as one of your veggie add ons, these are actually dill pickle rounds/slices, just like those that would be added to any burger one would order elsewhere. I love dill pickles, but they were just a no in a sushi bowl, as the flavor of dill pickles doesn't go with the other sushi flavors. On the bright side, they were easy to pick out. I was surprised to see seaweed salad as a "protein" - my terminology vs option as written on the paper list you fill out - not as a veggie add on. I asked for ginger (not on the list of options), but did not receive any. "Protein" scoops were small- I did eventually find a few very small pieces of spicy salmon. I really had thought that none had been added. Boba drinks-We had a strawberry and a watermelon. Both were gritty with all of the added sugar that had not dissolved as they were made. Definitely not the best boba I'd ever had and would not order again. Price- $8.99 for each boba drink. That's high. Total meal cost was a little over $50, kinda pricey. I had a poke bowl twice on Coronado island (CA) recently, that didn't cost as much, and was way better. All in all, if you're really wanting a poke or ramen bowl, this will satisfy your want without having to leave Pueblo. read more

The decor could use some more ambience. When I came with my family I wasn't expecting much. Then I was floored with the food. This is the best servings of Nigiri I have ever tasted. And they are plentiful and overlapping large. The veg tempura had vegs I've never had as tempura before. The broccoli tempura was so perfect. We had the ramen chicken and ramen veggie. The lady very nice to give us extra bean sprouts when requested without charge We ate inside and small and petite. I like the fact that they have it in take out bowls as we could not finish it all plenty to take home. The food steaming hot which we loved and plenty of meats and veggies. In downtown Pueblo and so it works out if you want to hang out at Riverwalk. Parking wasn't bad, nice walk to the spot! We sat next to the window so we can watch people shopping and walking around in a Friday afternoon I will for sure come out here again to try something new, maybe try Poke this time, and ramen to go. read more

If you been to Japan or any other real japanese restaurant don't go here. You're in for a big dissapoinment. I would not recommend this to any one the sushi was horrible. The only rolls I get when I go out for sushi to test them out is the Philadelphia roll and the California roll... You know why, because these are the easiest to mess up. If you can't make these to the standard that it should be you're not on my list of places to go. Trying to mask Chilean Trout fish as salmon is a big no no, and to make matters worse if it stinky fish smelling then it's probably been sitting outside of refrigeration for a long time. My experience was unfortunate. Save yourself time money and avoid a bad experience. There are grocery stores in town that have way better sushi than here. Also if it was my restaurant I would fire everyone and get a chef that knows how to make sushi to begin with. I have added pictures of the two take out rolls, that I purchased and it was just sad. I see other peoples pictures and they spicy tuna roll, philadeliphia rool and california rolls didn't look textbook and that's a shame. I know how to make my own sushi and this place was down right nasty and disgusting. I had to spit out the sushi immediately. That's all I have to say about this experience. We had the softshell crab roll, several pieces of Nigiri sushi, and I had the spicy seafood udon which was fantastic. Overpriced. Example 2 pieces of nigiri $8. Tofu udon $16. Ramen $15. These are LA & Las Vegas prices in wee Pueblo, CO! I understand inflation, but frankly this was a $25 meal that cost $50 for 2 peeps. If money doesn't matter - a) I envy you b) still not worth it. About the food, the udon was chewy, slightly savory slightly sweet. The sautéed veggies were typical Asian restaurant cabbage-carrot blend with a hint of teriyaki sauce. The fried tofu was surprisingly crisp & buttery tasting on the outside while being silky and smooth on the inside. Ambience - meh. For these prices, there should be more: getting a paper napkin rolled up with a straw, cheap fork, and el cheapo chopsticks doesn't cut it. If you're going to charge big money, one expects cloth napkins, decent cutlery, and real chopsticks. The jasmine tea was served in a black plastic carafe like what you'd get at a dump diner where the waitresses are too lazy to refill your coffee. If the meal was about 1/2 of what it actually cost, I'd bump it to four stars, but that's fantasyland, so I'm keeping it real at a solid three. read more

This place has a ton of potential. I popped in for lunch after a work meeting. The waitress was prompt and attentive. I too noticed some of the spelling mistakes and poor photos but thought I'd over look it. I ordered ramen, shrimp dumplings and yakiudon. Here's the deal. I ordered the chicken ramen (was given the katsu ramen, which wasn't clarified as I guess there are 2 types....) I truly think that the egg makes a ramen dish. There was egg, but it was like strips of fried egg? Honestly, for 13.99, I'll wait a few more minutes for a runny egg or just something that doesn't look like carton eggs, fried and cut into strips. Yakiudon had good flavor but didn't look super appetizing Additionally, it always worries me when any Japanese or Chinese restaurant tries to do a little of everything (fried pickles? Is that Japanese??) It means, nothing is really overly good. I didn't try the sushi to be fair. I hardly ever give less than 4 stars but here are my thoughts: 1. The entrance is not welcoming, all shades were drawn almost walked past. 2. Revamp of menu is needed 3. Unless covered in sauce, I recommend putting yakiudon in a darker bowl or plate. White on white looks unappealing. Anyways, I hope everyone knows I'm still recommending this place as I think maybe I didn't order their bread and butter. I been to many a sushi spots and this sushi place is great! First off, I've been spoiled in Vegas with AYCE, this place is a la carte, and a little pricy, but definitely worth it! The fish is fresh and doesn't taste like it's been sitting there, the tempura that goes in the rolls is also good, didn't seemed microwaved. It did take a little longer to get, which led me to believe it was freshly dropped. We tried a few rolls, can't remember the names, but one was a green Chile and the other 2 were great, just can't remember the names, I will update once I find out. Not only the worst sushi I've ever had, but the worst restaurant I've ever gone to. The egg in the ramen was hard boiled not soft boiled, it wasn't pre soaked in sauce to add flavor and make it dark. The noodles Literally came from a 25 cent instant noodles pack from the store (the kind you make at home). The wasabi was blueish and tasted off. The fish meat part of the sushi was the worst part, it had brown and black spots where it had gone bad, some pieces of sushi were randomly cooked or dried up and cracked as if they left some of the raw fish too close to the grill. I barely ate anything for fear of getting a parasite. A health inspector needs to go to this place. (If you just want California roles and not raw fish, it will be gas station quality, the raw fish will probably make you sick) read more

I love the the experience I had at Blue Ocean Sushi. My husband and I arrived for lunch weary from our travels and were pleasantly greeted by the lovely staff. We began our meal gushing over the menu which is filled with photos of the dishes. Our lunch included a miso soup and salad, complementary. We also ordered a seaweed salad which was as delicious as expected. Then we ate our four sushi rolls which were divine! The tuna, which is my favorite, was tasty and colorful. The prices here are a little higher than locations closer to the ocean as I am accustomed to, but considering this is in Pueblo it makes sense. The service was reallyyyy slow. Maybe it was just that day, but it took about 10-15 minutes to get my order taken. Once the order was in, the food didn't take a terribly long time to get to me. The menu is huuuuge, so it may take a while for you to decide what you want. I love that it has so many options, but it can be overwhelming. As far as the food goes, it was okay. It is extremely unprofessional and off putting for manager ( or owners) to discipline / fire employees with customers present. I just wanted some sushi. Foods fine- but I'm sitting here in the afternoon on a SATURDAY listening to a girl be berated. Really awful behavior as an employer, and seemingly toxic atmosphere. It was an emotional exchange, loud, and rude to myself and the employee. No one deserves to be embarrassed like that. I've Been here 5 minutes, and I want to run away before I even get my food. Do better. You can do this outside, in private, or not during hours. Even if the employee is in the wrong or needs coaching- There's very few situations in which it's necessary to make a scene like was just made. As a business owner myself- this is really off putting. I wouldn't come back for this reason alone. Two stars cause food just was okay, but that's being generous giving what I just sat through.
