I was visiting my brother and his family in Evergreen, and spent over a week there enjoying my time with my two nieces and one nephew, all under 7 years old. Having recently moved from Chicago to Atlanta right as both cities were shutting down, I have spent the majority of my time alone in the home. I happened to see an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives recently that featured Blue Pan Pizza. I took note of the Eggplant fries, and the Detroit style pizza. I first was exposed to this in Chicago via Jet's Pizza. THIS PLACE IS KILLER! I decided I was buying dinner the last night I was in CO, so I called it in around 4 and the order was going to be ready in 30-35 minutes, just about how long the drive is from my brother's home. We started with "Good Dog", which is their pan dough (crusted with cheese) and topped with mozz. Comes with a side of marinara but you do not need a thing with this- it's that perfect. So- for the kids I ordered a Large Detroit style Pan cheese pizza. Cheese crusted dough, caramelized in the pan, sauce, mozz, and a little sauce on the top for decoration along with some greens (I believe oregano) for the finishing touch. How do I know that? Because the kids pointed out "There is something GREEN on this pizza, lol". They don't lie- and they are skeptical about anything green haha. We ordered three small (4 piece square) detroit style pizzas also, so the adults could all taste a little bit of a few different flavors: 1) Rocky Mountain- this comes with pepperoni, sausage, olives, onions, peppers, and I could go on...but the real star is truly the dough and sauce. I bet you could get away with eating just their tomato pie- no cheese and just crusty dough with sauce. I didn't get to try a piece of this because I ordered... 2) Koto Telluride- this pizza has no red sauce, but a creamy artichoke and spinach sauce with roasted garlic cloves, sun dried and roasted tomatoes and some artichoke hearts. I have to tell you- this is probably one of the most unique flavor combinations but it totally works! SO GOOD. 3) San Marzano Pesto Chicken: this was my brother's call, he doesn't eat red meat so this one has so many good things- two kinds of cheese, red sauce and pesto sauce, roasted cherry tomatoes. Such an amazing combination as well. The only thing I didn't try was Rocky Mountain, which I didn't have any room for. I knew this pizza was good because my brother kept saying that he ate way too much and he never overeats like I usually do. One last point- didn't see the eggplant fries on the menu, which probably is because everyone would have ordered it bc Guy ate it. They're all hand made so I bet it would have been a disaster if it remained on the menu. I ordered two sides of the garlic ranch dressing and planned on dipping my crust in it- but YOU DON'T NEED ANYTHING with these pizzas. It's that good. The pricing is somewhat on the high side. Our total order, including tip was over $100 which seems a little much for pizza night- but I was still very, very pleased with the experience. Their setup was for takeout only and they had tables blocking the front door so you don't even need to come in. You basically park, walk up, give your order number, take it and head out. I was to Denver and back to Evergreen in just under an hour- and it was at 4:05 PM when I left so on a normal day I bet traffic is AWFUL. Well worth the time to come on in and try this place! HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. Come with friends so you can try many different types of pie. They also make Chicago thin crust, NY style, but the PAN PIZZA is where it is at. read more

Detroit style pizza? Detroit style pizza! It is officially our favorite pizza. So when I say this is like a pan pizza from Pizza Hut don't get me wrong. It is superior! The pizza is made to order and comes in small and large. Many of their specialty pizzas only have one size. Small with four pieces or I believe large was six. Small pieces are big enough for a big appetite! I would say I was starving and I could only eat two pieces. My husband was the same. So a small pizza for two hungry people who aren't going to try to push their limit would be perfect. The ambiance is nice. It's on a walkable street with lots of traffic to take in The windows are open. And the staff is super friendly! They have drinks. It can be very loud. So it may not be the place for a romantic meal. Or an intimate conversation with a friend. I would definitely come here again! I did not know Detroit style pizza existed. This place does it well with very high quality ingredients. Well, it's clear why this is a Denver staple. From the cozy environment, friendly staff, and delicious Detroit-style pizza, Blue Pan Pizza knows how to deliver. They have a little bar area and serve beer, wine, and cocktails. The cocktails aren't bad, but not amazing. My margarita was made with sprite, I'm pretty sure (or something bubbly) and my old fashioned was sweet and thin. Their pizza, by far, out does anything negative about their drinks. Honestly this place ruined most of our day. On our way through Denver we figured we would grab some pizza before we took off. Opted for something "nicer" rather than a cheaper chain. It took nearly an hour for us to get our order in, when the restaurant was not busy (maybe 3-4 other tables, half of which already had their food). Waiter seemed oblivious that we even existed. And we only got our order in AFTER I stood up and found someone to tell them we were just going to put in an order to go. And even then they said it would be another 20-30 minutes to get the pizza out. Eventually got the food, paid, left. Started eating, and in all honesty the pizza was meh. Especially for the price. I visited Denver recently, and my wife for some reason really wanted us to have pizza on our first day. Based on yelp reviews we came to blue pan pizza. We ended up picking the pizza up to go because the restaurant was full when we got there even though it was not at a prime lunch hour. We waited about 40 minutes for the pizza to be ready and then took it to go. My wife really enjoyed the pizza. I thought the pizza in the picture below was a bit too spicy for me. Solid Detroit style pizza! I've reviewed Blue Pan in the past and I'd reinforce my 4 star review! I ordered takeout (there is no dine in at this time) on a Thursday at 6:45pm. There was a 45min wait time until pick up. This time I ordered online via their website and the order process was quick and easy. We received a confirmation email with the receipt and wait time. I ordered the Brooklyn Bridge large square pizza. Overall the pizza was really tasty with pepperoni, sausage, and ricotta. The pizza tomato sauce tasted a bit plain, like it was simply tomato paste, but overall the taste was great. The texture of this pizza is my favorite, you have a thick doughy bread with a perfect size layer of cheese, sauce, and toppings. The edges are crunchy but not burned. When I picked up the food, they were prompt in grabbing the pizza from inside. I asked for napkins and they kindly included paper plates when they came back. My only major gripe with blue Pan is the pricing. The large comes in at $30, I wish it was more affordable, but you do get great quality food and service. read more

Really solid Detroit style pizza in Denver! The best thing about Blue Pan is the crust. It's thick, Detroit style that's pillowy in the middle and crunchy on the bottom. We split the large Brooklyn Bridge ($28) between 2 people. It has pepperoni, sausage, and ricotta cheese. The menu says it won an award in 2014 and I can see why! The crust was delicious and the toppings were really tasty. The large was more than enough food for the 2 of us and we had a few leftover slices the next day which were also great! We took family visiting from California to Blue Pan while they were here. We take all our out of state visitors to Blue Pan, since it is our favorite pizza establishment. Our favorite pizza is the Little Rosie. We just wish it had the option of coming in bigger sizes! We ended up ordering 2 pies to feed the 4 of us. Our relatives rave as much as we do about the pizza! Our only bad experience was the giant windows were open to let the beautiful weather in, but brought a big hornet in! It was quite scary since I am severely allergic! Came here specifically to try some Detroit-style pizza since we are huge fans of VIA 313 (Austin's own Detroit-style pizza joints) on my birthday and we had a blast. Service was excellent, prompt, and thorough as soon as we walked in. We hardly had no wait, even on a Broncos game day, however we were there before 12noon when we arrived. Also, because I checked in on Yelp I was able to get a free draft Coors beer before our pizza came out. We braved the olives on a pizza and decided to go with the Rocky Mountain and Mountain Top styles in an easy 4 square piece. Both me and the BF were super impressed with pizza quality and turnaround it took to bring us out the pizza. Our waitress made sure we had plenty of water and cool drinks as well as everything we needed as soon as she sat us down. I love the small shelves that are attached to the brick wall at those side tables - allows you to place any items like the water jug, your phone, etc on top to allow you more space on your table top. Became super envious of the specials Blue Pan has for their weekdays as they would make me come eat here at least 1X week if I was a Denver local. Loved the pizza and loved the nice quaint place! I've heard about this place recently and was invited to dinner yesterday. Monday is their buy one large pizza and get the second one for free. They're located in the West Highlands area, on 32nd St, we found a parking spot near the restaurant. We arrived around 5:30 and were seated at 6:15 (there's seating for about 25 at the tables and bar area). They offer several different crusts and toppings as well as a few salads, beer and wine. We ordered 2 different large Detroit pies, enough for 4 adults with several slices to take home. They arrived hot and were delicious, my favorite was the pie with arugula,l and prosciutto. I definitely recommend Blue Pan and plan on returning soon. read more
