The fried chicken was fantastic; some of the best I've ever had. The tomato soup and the cookie were also delicious. Service was generally ok; the server didn't get one of our orders, but at least we weren't charged for it. And the portions were huge; without the order we were all still stuffed. Group of 8 of us came right as walk ins right around opening and were seated inside but told we'd have to leave at 1:15 for another reservation. This was plenty of time for us to take our time and enjoy our meals. The Meals ordered at the table included: - 3 Benedict's - consensus was that it was way less than they thought, just one egg and no sides so they wouldn't get it again for the price. The Benedict was doused in a sour ish sauce and wasn't a nice touch. - steak and eggs - overcooked and lacked flavor - cream cheese tortellini - flavorful and yummy, small portions - fried chicken - pretty solid and the sauce was really good. I came for dinner on a Sunday night and sat on the patio. We waited about 10 minutes for menus and silverware and were greeted by the obviously frazzled server. Once we finally ordered, the drinks took longer than the appetizer to arrive. I ordered the fried green tomato sandwich and wish I had ordered literally anything else instead. I can't believe that a Sonoma County restaurant actually put that abomination on the menu and decided it was worth $14. It was smothered in watery burrata and littered with grocery store shredded lettuce. I should have sent it back, but I was hungry enough to slog through it. There was no flavor and the tomatoes weren't even fried. Apparently the chef took the night off and the busser was cooking. Service was inattentive and slow. I understand that the server was overwhelmed and could have used some help, but I can tell when a server is at least trying their best. I just wanted to get out of there but even the bill took forever to arrive. The only thing that justified two stars was the tortellini, which was beautifully plated and truly delicious. Food: Fried chicken - three pieces served in a wide shallow bowl on some brown paper, with a honey drizzle and a healthy sprinkle of paprika (which is what makes it Southern?) Chicken was a little undercooked as you got closer to the bone, and the batter had a lot of crunch to it. Came with a tiny serving of collard greens, and a Gouda Mac and cheese in a single serving skillet. Cajun Shrimp Pasta - a generous portion of pasta with about 5/6 shrimp in a creamy spiced sauce. Pasta was little undercooked for our liking and heavy on the paprika/spice. Service: Decent. Cost: $90 without tip for one shrimp pasta, one fried chicken, two burgers. Overall: The food was so-so for us. There's a great outdoor patio (but seemingly only one heater for the whole patio on a chilly NorCal evening?), and they allow dogs out there. We had a tough time making a reservation. Their phone recording (July 1) noted that customers should head to their website to make a reservation, even providing the URL. But that was not an option when you visited their website. Even Open Table showed no options for the remainder of 2021. Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. We were seated promptly outside. Our server was so nice and full of energy. They have a cantaloupe cocktail that has chili oil in it, so I got that. Didn't taste the chili oil, but the drink was so good. It was different and I like it. Ahi tuna tartar is a must! The weather was nice, so outdoor dining it is. We wanted to like it... TLDR: Food is decent, service is mediocre, and the owner is a douche. Our group of 6 women had the expectation of a lively atmosphere and good down home sort of food. I personally am a chef, another in the group grew up in the restaurant industry, and another had worked as a server for years. We know how things should go/what flavor profiles should be, etc. we're also moms just wanting to have a good time. Enough cocktails and good food and we're just happy to be out. Our server was overwhelmed and I'd like to preface that it was NOT her fault. She was swamped. We had a 6:30 res, and clearly 10 other tables were sat at the same time. She was expectedly busy. We understood. Even with the influx of patrons, our drinks were ordered within the first 5min of sitting down, impressive.... But they took FOREVER. We were almost done with appetizers before the drinks arrived. It was a bummer. We would have likely ordered at least 1 more round of cocktails had they been on top of it. The drinks were tasty but, timing is everything. Salads were good. Caesar was far better (with whole anchovies that were great) than the other salad was. A group of 6 of us didn't even finish the other, wasn't worth it. The cheesy bread was literally store bought sliced bread with a slice of cheese melted on it and seasoning sprinkled on top. Needless to say, we were underwhelmed by that one without a doubt. Our entrees came out and the smashburger and portobello burger were fantastic! Pasta was overcooked for the Cajun pasta special. She half finished but wasn't worth taking home or finishing. Shepard's pie was good, the other pasta special was good. I myself shared with everyone so I didn't have an entree to myself. Everyone enjoyed their food enough but agreed that beyond the burgers, it was one of those places we'd go back to if someone asked us to but we wouldn't go back on our own. We ordered a crème brûlée for a few of us to share and some more cocktails. the espresso martinis were show stoppers, my friends loved them. I had a bramble that was on their specials and it was also delish. The crème brûlée, not so much. It was super super salty and the brûlée was bitter burnt, not the correct amount of caramelized as a crème brûlée should be... they asked how it was and we said thank you but it wasn't for us, they offered a new one, but because we knew the custard is made in advance we didn't want them to waste it on us, the likelihood that the next was salty was going to be inevitable. We were not upset, we didn't raise an issue, we did not asked for it to be removed from our table, they asked and we answered. We enjoyed finishing our cocktails and had more conversation and then headed out. On our way out, 3 older men (one of which we understood was the owner) were making rude, loud, off handed remarks at us as we walked away. I turned to look before we went out th front as I wanted to see who was speaking loudly about us, and show that we could hear them, and the man in the middle shrugged like a Smug a-hole. We just spent $476 at your establishment, even with your salty crème brûlée removed from our tab, and you have the audacity to make remarks at us as we walk out? What kind of owner are you. Clearly hospitality isn't your strong suit. You and your smug friends are the ONLY reason I WILL NEVER return to you business. Your business practice is as limp as your noodles. Godspeed. read more

I've been here a number of times, and while not every dish is a 10/10 (some food can be on the greasy side) there are many knock your socks off dishes. I love the Caesar salad with chicken. OMG - Dragonfruit Thyme Lemonade - best drink I've had, I think ever - and it's non alcoholic! The drinkers at the table were eyeing mine and I'm like NOPE MINE! Now the food - well first, you walk in and are hit by the delightful smell of truffle, so if you are not a truffle fan, you should probably stay away. My husband and I ordered the gouda mac & cheese, gouda burger & truffle fries. mmmm SO good. We split both of these, but easily could have each had our own. The menu keeps it's amazing staples but also adds new and interesting dishes to keep your mouth watering. Every dish, not only delicious but also soooo pretty to look at (YES, I take pictures of the food --- Irresistible) Fried Chicken - TO DIE FOR. I actually didn't even like fried chicken until I tried it here. The batter is like nothing you have tried before. Crispy but not oily and the meat inside is juicy and flavorful. Cioppino - Gimme gimme more!!! Authentic and great until the last drop. Burrata + Toast - I could eat this all day long. Comes with yummy buttered toast, a heaping serving of burrata and beautifully dressed with edible flowers. I have tried everything on the menu but those are my top faves. The unique drinks and wine options are well thought out. There is something for everyone. Great place to dine with friends, family or on a date. This is our go-to place for sure. Chef + Staff - I find it troubling that so many reviews gave the staff a negative review?!? Each and every time we dine here, we are greeted with warm and friendly hosts and servers. We were so hangry on our way back from bodega bay and were looking for something to feed our souls. We found this place on Yelp and waited outside in line. When we met the hostess, she explained to us that we needed a reservation. In response, I asked her if she had any other food recs for hangry folks like ourselves and she gave us food recs and even let us use the restroom. After much dialogue with my partner and our friend, we decided that our heart was set on this restaurant. So, we asked the hostess if anything had changed and if we could please be seated. She was so sweet and she seated us right by a heat lamp. These are our hangry reviews: Meal 1: Rigatoni suju (by Elman my hangry partner): -Tastes like Nanas cooking -8/10 - Sauce tastes like marinara and the meat is super soft but there isn't enough of it. Meal 2: My dish: Blue Ridge Drunken Chicken -8/10 -I absolutely loved it! -I really enjoyed the orange chipotle sauce they used and the honey that was on it. Every bite was heaven. It was nice and crispy too! -Average Mac and cheese but it went really well with the chicken. -Green beans: not my taste but my partner said it was good. Meal 3: Pasta with shrimp -8.5/10 -Shrimp: perfectly cooked. There was plenty of it. -Sauce: saucy enough. Tomato/herb sauce. The consistency and flavors came through. Service: The hostess was super sweet however we really couldn't catch our waiter's vibe. She sometimes gave us some side eye and didn't make us feel very welcome/ at home. This is one of the best dining establishments in Sonoma County. Lemme tell you why. Attentive dining from start to finish. They know they're the best. Their service claims it. Flawless and kind. Next, presentation of food. They have specials that make you want to flock to their business. Huckleberry burrata compote?! WHAT?! Pray for me. Value. Listen, it's not cheap to live where we live. But it's easy to love where we live. Blue Ridge offers full plates at a reasonable price. I am referencing the fried chicken. Everybody has already told you about it. Two sides and a healthy serving of chicken for $26... done and done. Food is D A N K. Now I know I'm ranting. And usually I keep these reviews short. My first time here. I wasn't sure what to expect. The ceilings are very high so very acoustics are very loud, sound is blaring but it seems to work. Everyone looks happy and the staff, food and quality is spot on. I'd recommend outside dining on a warmer evening. Next time I'll try outside. I waited for the Monday night special dinner they offer. It was to die for. Something I don't order often. Oh my goodness! I'll say it is definitely delicious and worth every penny ($42). It was perfect. Portions are large enough to share. So I'm taking half home. The menu isn't overly expansive. I really like that. It's best (I feel) to do a smaller menu to perfection than a large menu so so. My server was on top of things, polite, friendly, and easy to share space with. Everything was perfect. Next time coming with friends and family. Last night we visited the Blue Ridge Kitchen for the first time in quite awhile, and it was so good that I wished we'd returned sooner, and I cringed to see my overwrought review from 2022 still prominent on Yelp! We brought several out-of-town family members with different tastes and needs, and all were happy with their food choices and with the warm and attentive service, especially from Andrea who always seemed to anticipate our needs. It was too rainy to sit outside, and the interior can be loud, but the staff helped us find the least noisy place to sit and everyone was comfortable. My husband and I split the catch-of-the-day swordfish and the kale/romaine hearts/white anchovy Caesar salad and savored every bite on our plates, as did the carnivores among us, somewhat disappointing our dogs when we returned home with the tiniest of doggie bags! Big, bold, boastful-bone in chicken A spontaneous visit to a restaurant is always hit or miss! But The Blue Ridge kitchen hit all the points with this spread! Drinks were summery crisp, with muddled strawberries, vodka and lemon soda... with a crispy lime. The chicken I will say previously came out undercooked :( due to its large size, but this was speedily replaced while I worked on the greens and Mac and please... so no room for complaining. The coating on the chicken was reminiscent of friend chicharones! Flavorful and delicious. My mom looooooved the gnocchi, she's a light eater, so offffff course I handled the leftovers temp could of been hotter :( but well crafted and executed. The whole Barlow area in Sebastopol is filled with the smell of their wood grilling smoke. Perhaps pleasant for some, few people are aware that smoke from wood grills contributes to air pollution (who needs more of that these days, especially in Sonoma county, the region that is repeatedly affected by wildfires and the resulting diminished air quality) and containes fine particles that are harmful to human health. We should pay attention not only to the quality of food we consume, but also to how this food is prepared and how the cooking process affects ourselves and the environment and not support businesses whose operation has a negative impact on environmental and human health. read more

I was so looking forward to going here! It's supposed to be good southern cooking, I brought my hubby who is from New Orleans. The fried chicken was great! I got to say it was juicy and delicious but not really southern style fried chicken. although that fried chicken I would happily get that again and again! They have the option to add macaroni and cheese with truffle and collard greens, don't bother ordering that! because the collard greens were so bland, and the macaroni and cheese had no seasoning, no salt, no cheese flavor and I sure didn't taste any truffle. We also ordered the truffle fries, they were nice and hot and crispy exactly the way you want them, delicious! Since the chicken was so good I feel that there is other dishes equally delicious, I'm definitely coming back on the hunt for the yummy! The drinks were delicious although expensive. Service was good, our waiter was the only one working outdoor seating area so he was crazy busy! My husband simply said, it's just not southern cooking to him, but we agreed to come back! Oh I love this restaurant. First it's in the Barlow, how fun is that. It's got a cure bar and fun drinks. It's cozy inside and you can sit outside too. We ordered their winter barata. Wow, great flavors and since I'm gluten free they brought me rice chips to eat it with. My friend loves their toast they served with it. You can't go wrong at BRK. Everything our party of six ordered as delicious. But don't miss their signature cioppino, an Italian-American fish stew that originated in the Bay Area. Rich with clams, prawns, mussels and crawfish, the tomato-based red sauce is wonderfully spiced without overwhelming the fish. The chef told us, "It's the dish that made me want to become a chef." I had their other signature dish, drunken fried chicken. The coating is super-crispy without being too thick, and it did not become soggy under the spicy, not too spicy, beurre blanc sauce.Two of our party loved the calamari steak dore special which featured a caper- flavored sauce. Another had the featured steak special, perfectly medium rare. Ahi Tuna Tartar appetizer was amazing with smashed avocado, asian pear coulis, and spicy aioli. It was accompanied by impossibly light rice chips. All the desserts we shared were great but the fig tart special was the standout. The bananas in the banana split were coated with crispy brûlée. The mud pie had a wonderful meringue. Service was pleasant and competent. Our server checked in numerous times to make sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant is in an industrial chic shopping area with large Quonset hut structures. The restaurant is airy and spare with an open kitchen and garage doors that open onto a patio. We decided to check it out after hearing the races on KZST. Beautiful setting and we were seated outside. On this particular night we had view of live (Dixie jazz) music from across the way and in the other direction more music. Since this was impromptu we didn't prepare by bringing jackets - the evening breeze really cools down the area. Be prepared with layers even if it's HOT. Staff was friendly and attentive. 5 stars We ordered the burrata appetizer from the special menu. Presentation was stunningly beautiful. You almost didn't want to mess it up. The flavors were wonderful with a surprise hint of lemon that brightened every bite. Bread is from Red Bird bakery and had the perfect texture. Wish there was more bread as we had 1/2 burrata to eat by spoon :). This was hubby's favorite. 5 stars!!! I ordered the Brussel sprouts out of curiosity for rosemary /parm which is different than how other places serve them. I appreciated that they were not greasy and they weren't overly cooked. Flavors were good but I would order something else next time as it's just a "common dish". We have a rule- if pork belly is on the menu we must order it. Tonight's special was pork belly bbq with grits and grilled apricot. Although good flavor the pork belly wasn't cooked all the way. The fat didn't render enough to melt in the bites and was chewy. I personally didn't care for the grilled fruit. But the grits (and I don't like grits) were amazing!! I don't know if this is how they normally do grits or if it was done special for this dinner but this was for me the highlight (even over the burrata). The only other time I had grits this amazing was in NOLA at the bourbon house. Grits 5 stars the rest 3 Fried chicken- super crunchy lots of breading, meat tender. There is a sweet sauce on it and under is a slightly "spiced" sauce. This combination was different and really good. Solid 4 stars - this is OUR preference - it was cooked perfectly. The chicken was slightly too sweet for hubby and it was a LOT of coating. With bites of just coating no chicken. Mac and cheese was gritty (sauce wasn't done right) - ehh Personally neither one of us care for greens so not rating them. We tried them, still don't like them lol but that is just us. Lots of food - leftovers for lunch and dinner. $95 bill is a bit on the pricey side. We will probably come back again and try a few different items. The ambiance is amazing and I think for some appetizers, drinks and people watching it's a great option. read more
