Late to the game on this one. I've been hearing about lunchbox for a long time, but I'm usually not in Sebatopol during lunch hours so it's been challenging for me to get there, but as luck would have it, I was able to visit recently. I've been hearing about their awesome smash burgers and figured I'd give one a try. I got the Kansas City fried onion smash burger with fries to do the whole meal deal. I have to say this was one of the best hamburgers I've ever had in my life. No joke! The patties were seared perfectly. The bun was toasted beautifully, and the meat was seasoned very well. The overall sandwich came together in a spectacular. Possibly one of the best hamburgers I've ever had. The restaurant itself is pretty minimal, but offered comfortable seating. Bonus points for playing chill music in the background at a reasonable volume. Atmosphere was casual. A couple seats out front too of you prefer a little more action. Looks like the do some beer options, though it liked like they may have had a couple taps out. I chose sparkling water from the adornment on the fridge by the register. hats off to the team at Lunch Box. I'll definitely be going back to try more of the items off their menu. Thanks! read more

Found myself at the Lunchbox in Sebastopol again. This time I went with one of their burgers under the smashburger heading. It was delicious. I was hungry so I'm embarrassed to say I wolfed it down. I sprung the extra $3.00 for fries. In retrospect the burger would have been enough. I love when they shred the lettuce super thin. Every bite hit the spot. Service is always cheerful. Sweet spot in Sebastopol. I am not sure why it didn't come up on my radar years ago. We had the smash burger, dirty fries and tomato soup. All were full of flavor. What else can you ask for in a dining experience? All the sauces were tasty and hit different heat levels. I think the smash burger, which was a double, was one of the best I have tasted in terms of the flavor of the meat and how the toppings compliment the whole thing. My friend and I stopped in, and we both decided to order the Rachel sandwich. It had roasted turkey, coleslaw, three cheese on a delicious toasted bread. Before habit burger sold out and became trash they did a McDonald's type burger both regular and vegan that we would get once a month. We have been missing it until now. This place nailed it but even more so with a smash burger style, killer. The twist on Caesar was what separates the great from the legends, and the perfect slim fries. We were lucky enough to grab a patio table and enjoy Saturday brunch in the west county center on another amazing California day. The attitude of the staff was even brighter than the weather as I was a lost first timer. Order at the counter, get your gear and find a seat with your number. OMFG!!!! Are you freaking kidding me kidding me? This place has a chicken parm that is a must try for you parm fans out there. They are using Chris Bianco's sauce which is the best can sauces you can get on the market according to Andy and Brad Leone from Bon Appetite and me. Don't sleep on this sandwich it's so good and it's got ricotta, mozzarella and provolone and the cutlet is thin and delicious. I've had the chicken parm from Parm in NYC and this is a pretty good substitute if you want to save the airfare or gas. Then we had the special burger of the day Spicy Oklahoma and it was #TDF this place is the joint and I can't wait to come back for all the other items. I definitely need to try everything. Since this was my first time, I do not know if this was just a ONE OFF or whether I simply ask for no seasoning next time. It looked good. It smelled good. The cheese was perfectly melted and the onions soft. I still could not continue to eat it. Hubby had the fried chicken sandwich, and it was well seasoned, crispy, and tender. The fries were perfect, and the chipotle aïoli was an ideal dip. Several beers on tap; nice and cold! Prices were a bit high in my opinion, but on par for SonomaCounty. Lunchbox Café is one of those places that never misses. I've been coming here for a while, and the food is always spot-on fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The burgers are ridiculous (the Creature Burger especially), and the fried chicken sandwich might be even better. I have been here a number of times now and every time has surpassed my expectations in terms of deliciousness, service and, well, everything else. They care about their menu, they care about their food. Every bit of that is captured in what they serve and how they treat you. I have yet to have anything that's no good. I'm a big fan of the Roy's when it's around, but even their standard burger is superb. I love the extremely thinly sliced lettuce. They're like perfect little confetti strings of crunch and cool that counters the soft and warm of the bun and burger in an outstanding way. The fries are cooked to perfection every time. Okay this place is legit! Went there for the first time today for lunch and it was amazing. I'm from Oklahoma and the "Oklahoma Onion Burger" is authentic! I was able to have a taste from my (previous) home ... one of the few things that I miss. Wife had the "Harn" burger and she was very pleased with it as well. The fries are the s#!t too! Lunch Box makes some of the best burgers you can find in Sebastopol, Occidental, Monte Rio and Guerneville (and probably surrounding areas as well, though I haven't made a study of it). Their fried chicken sandwich is also really solid, although I prefer my fried chx sandos to be spicier. Service is friendly and employees are attentive. I think I've seen other reviewers complain that food takes too long to come out, and I kinda agree it can take longer than you might expect (or hope). Personally I'm willing to wait for high-quality food, so this doesn't bother me. But if you think you're gonna run in there for a quick 5 minute to-go order, think again. Good things take time and this is no exception. Inside is clean and well-lit with lots of white tiles and white walls and open space. Frankly it's a bit too bright for my taste, but it does look good, I just wish it were darker inside, with wood & leather & booths... basically I wish it looked like the Round Table Pizza from my childhood in the early 90's My biggest complaint is the hours! I wish I could come here all the time, but I live 30 mins away and getting there before 6pm (let alone 3pm) is basically impossible with work. This place looks nothing like the restaurant that used to be here. It's more like a tidy diner with a limited menu. Service is friendly and reasonably efficient. Serve yourself water is helpful. The burgers are very good and generous, as are the salads. I had the summer salad with chicken and my friend had an amazing huge burger that she had to eat with a fork and knife,lol. The salad I had cost nearly $30 when adding the chicken; there are more affordable options on the menu, however. Parking is reasonable except when on the weekends.
