Whoever is in charge of the landscape has let the weeds take over near the parking lot. I can't comment on the food or service. I never got inside. Oh Fandee's, how have I never been here before? Do you know how many times I've driven past or shopped at Ace Hardware and thought, "I wonder what that restaurant is like?" You're such an unassuming restaurant tucked into a shopping center! Well, thanks to my friends, I don't have to wonder anymore. Our group of 4 came in for a late lunch/early dinner and were seated easily enough, though the place was definitely not empty. Our server was friendly and accommodating, especially with my champagne ordering, and set a relaxed, welcoming tone for the rest of our meal. It's not a "small plates" restaurant but luckily, my friends are all up for sharing! We ordered: Fish & Chips - Flaky fish, not overly battered, flavorful while still letting the fish shine. A few squeezes of lemon and a splash of malt vinegar took it over the finish line. The fries were crispy, and the ranch was tasty. Eggplant Pomodoro - I was convinced the noodles were house-made, but apparently not! The sauce was flavorful, light, filling, and well-balanced. Total comfort dish. Southwest Chicken Sandwich - Boohoo, no picture! But it was soooo good, and the onion rings were top-notch. We ended with a shared creme brulee and honestly, the texture was perfection. Great service, great food and great restaurant interior. We have never been to Fandee's and were in the area. It looks kinda plain on the outside but looked much nicer and more modern inside. We were greeted and seated quickly, it was Sunday at 415 pm and it was not busy but had steady business. Some of our group ordered champagne. They had a great pour and you felt like you had your moneys worth. Next we ordered out meals, I had a eggplant Pomodoro and others ordered fish and fries and Santa Fe chicken sandwich. My dish came out and it looked great. I had the first bite and it was wonderful. I loved all the flavors with just the right seasoning, the garlic was present but not overwhelming, the tomato, basil chili flakes were just the right blend topped off with parmesan cheese that was melted on top. Pasta was done perfectly. Everyone at the table tried it and it was a hit. I tried the fish n chips and it was very good flavor and texture with two really large pieces of fish and a plate full of fries. The fries were good but the onion rings that were ordered with the Santa Fe chicken sandwich was great. I did not try the sandwich but was told that it was a hit and they would order it again. We were all full but ordered a Creme Brulee to finish off the meal. It was the perfect end to a great meal. Creamy with a crunchy top and fresh fruit on top. Great upscale presentation with the food we received. We all agreed that the food was great and the price was reasonable for the quality and quantity that you received. I have talked about stopping by this cute little spot for years and just finally thought I needed to do it since I was hungry and couldn't think of anything else. I am so glad I did! It is quite a nice place with a patio outside. The size of the restaurant belies what the external view indicates. It is very nice inside and we were greeted warmly by one of the wait staff. My husband and I were both craving breakfast so we were glad to arrive while they were still serving that type of meal. I ordered three eggs scrambled with country potatoes and sliced avocado on the side and my husband ordered their eggs Benedict with hashbrowns. The service was pretty quick. The eggs Benedict was one of the best I've tasted. The hollandaise sauce was almost perfect and my husband felt like the breakfast was so filling he could barely finish half of it. My pile of scrambled eggs and country potatoes were also fantastic. I prefer a pile of scrambled eggs that feel like they have a little weight to them and aren't just drippings of eggs. These were very good. The country potatoes were a surprise as they included a ton of herbs. My only comment would be that Rosemary should be an accent and not the main part of the potatoes. They were delicious, but I burped rosemary for about 12 hours. Overall, this is a gem. I'm glad I finally was able to uncover! read more

We have been coming here for years and recently a sad decline has become evident to us. The service people who used to be here were wonderful. They were warm and kind and attentive. Stopped by for brunch as we were passing through the city. There was no wait when we got there around 10:30 but there was a line forming around 11:45 when we left. Plenty of parking since it's connected to a large grocery plaza. Service was very friendly. Food took a while to come out but was well worth it. Fandee's Benedict was great, with crispy bacon and plenty of sauce coating it. The eggplant shakshuka was amazing and came with 2 pieces of toasted bread. If you like tomato you'll love it - it's a strong tomato flavor. Despite not really liking eggplant in general, the eggplant here was actually pretty good. Huge portion as well. We've been coming to this place for years and have always loved it, which makes this review really disappointing to write. We went in last night for dinner with family and had about a 15-minute wait to be seated, which is pretty typical and not an issue. However, right away we noticed that none of the familiar staff seemed to be there anymore--which is totally fine, but the overall vibe felt different. The hostess didn't communicate with us at all, which was unusual compared to the warm, welcoming service we've experienced in the past. After we were seated, we overheard the table behind us talking about their order--they had just received their food incorrectly...twice. At that point, with small kids and it being peak dinner time (around 6:30), we didn't feel comfortable risking the same experience, so we decided to leave. It honestly made us wonder if there's new ownership or management, because the change in service was very noticeable. We've always had great experiences here, so this was surprising and disappointing. We won't be back for now, but we're hopeful things improve because this used to be one of our go-to spots. read more

My wife and I went to Fandee's the other day. While it was a holiday, I didn't expect it to be overly busy. There was a bit of a wait for a seat. Odd that they didn't have a list, we were just told to sit down and we'd be notified of an open table. Internally, I questioned the validity of such an unorganized method...but it worked and we were called shortly for an open table. No fights from others waiting after us that they were "here" first. Whew. I came with one intent purpose, I was craving French onion soup and apparently we live in a French onion soup desert. Someone posted here that Fandee's was the best in the county. Okay, let's see what it's all about. While it was early afternoon, my wife was happy to see breakfast was available until 3pm. She ordered, what looked like an egg scramble and she absolutely loved her choice. I have to say, my French onion soup was a little disappointing. It just didn't have the flavor I was hoping for. I also got a BLAT w/ fries. Also, fine but it didn't stand out. The menu has many options, so I'm sure there were better options. Service was very good. Decor was very nice and gave off a comfy vibe. Service and ambiance were good. Coffee is quality. Food is decent and large portion. It is possible to share and save money. Too bad they will not allow substitutions though. Breakfast ends at 3:pm. We were late and we're lucky someone did allow my colleague to have cowboy fried chicken and eggs. I got a cup of clam chowder and citrus salad. The breakfast dish was average, very rich and creamy, and biscuit a bit dry. My clam chowder was tasty but a bit too much thickener like added starch. It would have benefited with a bit more stock or even white wine, and a cup is large, more like a bowl. But the clam pieces within were just the perfect tenderness and not tough or fishy. I asked for bread and butter with it as it comes with a packet of two saltine crackers. I had to buy a piece of garlic cheese toast, which was average. The salad was way too large and wish it had possibility of ordering half portion. I had to take some home, and left over salad greens are not ideal. Thankfully it had the blue cheese to balance out very sweet pecans and cranberry, and even citrus dressing quite sweet. Thankfully i do like blue cheese as you cannot sub. Other items on the menu looked interesting, for dinner and such, but I'm worried now it's balanced onto the heavy, rich, sweeter side of foods....i did not want to give 3 stars, definitely not 5, wish i could do 3.5. Simply put Fandee's is an improved Diner... decor is a little nicer, food is better prepared & sourced than your typical dinner. But there are two standout qualities about Fandee's 1). After driving by this restaurant thousands of times, wondering what was inside my partner and I decided to give it a try and I'm so glad we did. First off I love the ambience inside. There are a lot of booths with good lighting and so far we have tried four entrees. The falafel and the fish and chips are the winners so far the Cubano sandwich and the salmon were also good. You do get a side salad option with most entrées but heads up the side salad is just greens and dressing. The young man that we had as a waiter on our last visit was excellent. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, and when they were out of tequila for the strawberry mint drink, he made me one with vodka and made sure that I liked it. Beware the corned beef hash, it's not hash, more of a scramble. Correct me if I'm wrong but every other place I've had this dish it's minced together more like a hash. This abomination was bite sized chunks of inedible fat and sinew with little scraps of meat attached, some without any meat at all. This is a popular spot for us due to its location and diverse menu. During the pandemic, they were serving a limited menu but they have returned to their expanded menu. I have read reviews from yelpers saying their food and service are not consistent, but for all the times we've been here, it's always been a pleasant dining experience. We prefer to eat outside on their covered patio. They have heaters but they were unfortunately out of propane so it was a little chilly. There are only large round tables on the patio now but they don't mind seating two people at them. Their menu consists of standard items such as waffles, corned beef hash, omelets, eggs benedict, burgers, salads and sandwiches but after 11:00 am, they also serve fried chicken, salmon, chicken schnitzel, chicken marsala, pork chops and even roasted turkey with mashed potatoes and cranberry compote. This time we ordered eggplant shakshuka and the falafel wrap. The shakshuka has a tomato base with spinach, eggplant, feta cheese, and eggs baked together and it comes with two slices of grilled bread. This dish was a touch on the salty side but very tasty. The falafel wrap was particularly good as the tortilla came nice and warm with falafel, hummus, lettuce, pickles, tomato and tahini sauce snuggly wrapped inside. The Santa Fe Chicken sandwich has always been a favorite of mine but the falafel wrap is a close second. Their fish and chips are pretty awesome too. 2/18/23- Something significant has happened with the management at Fandee's as it's now horrible. We checked into this establishment at 5:45. We ordered a chicken citrus salad, diet cokes and fries. Our food arrived to our table at 7:00, and our tab was finally printed at 7:24. Wtf is going on here? As we sat and watched others within the restaurant, we noticed several other patrons getting up to grab their own menus, sitting in awkwardness, waiting for food that seemed to never be coming, and food orders being flat out wrong. We literally heard the waiter tell the patrons seated next to us, "She can just pick it off." WHAT? I thought I was being Punk'd or was on an episode of Candid Camera. There is major lack of management, and proper training for the wait staff. There were no apologies, no offers to make it right, nothing. Even when we got the change and were about to head out, the wait staff made no effort in saying thank you for waiting or anything else, just silence. Also, they started charging more for items that used to be included on your entrée. For example, a chicken citrus salad is now only a citrus salad for $14.00, and will cost you an additional $5.00 for chicken, making it $19.00. I was also charged a credit surcharge and I paid cash! With The Barlow, and Sunshine Cafe down the road, why would anyone ever return here when the service is such crap? Wow. This food is killer. Our first time visiting and we were immediately turned off by the slow service. Servers saw us, made eye contact and still left us standing at the front door for too long. The people in front of us walked out because they were tired of waiting (heard their convo). After we sat down it took a while to get spoken to. Even longer for coffee to come out. No silverware was given (but the empty table next to us had some so we grabbed that to stir coffee). So we were skeptical. But the food came out and my word it was worth it.
