Lunch Combo #1
Reynelle Leila A.

I liked the hospitality of this place! I was immediately greeted and helped when I walked in. I came during lunch on a weekday, so it was a bit dead, but he gave me a glass of water, encouraged me to sit at the booth while waiting, didn't rush, and greeted me out as well. It only took 5-10ish min for me to get my food. Sweet n sour pork was freshly cooked because it was still crunchy in its sauce; I feel like most places would just have them prepped, soggy for quick serving but theirs is pretty good!

Blue Sky is the classic Chinese restaurant you expect in America, and that's not a bad thing. They do their dishes very well, with fresh ingredients and huge portions. Service is always super helpful, and they have been very accommodating to ensure that our meals meet our dietary requirements (vegetarian/vegan). I love their tofu dishes and the green beans.

Crispy chow mein and beef with string beans

I love Blue Sky! We love coming here for celebrations and also when we have a hankering for Chinese food. Last night we had an impromptu get together, we were a party of 7 and they were able to sit us promptly even with no reservations, thank you Blue Sky for your hospitality! Our go to is the sizzling rice soup, walnut prawns, BBQ pork fried rice, house chow mein and Mongolian beef. Tender beef, crisp veggies and large shrimp, my favorite! The serving size is plentiful and we usually have leftovers. Last night we didn't. We ate everything! Since we were a large group,we ordered a couple more dishes than we usually do and discovered a few more new favorites! I liked the crispness and flavor on the Szechuan chicken. Hubby skipped it because there was a mild kick to it. I also liked the salt and pepper pork chop, it was fried to perfection and wasn't chewy or hard. We had kids in our group so we wanted to order them dishes to their liking. We went with the garlic chicken, sweet and sour chicken (instead of pork), and vegetable chow mein. It was basic and not my favorite, I'd rather skip it next time when there are so many other tasty options. The dining area is clean and roomy with several booths and tables with comfortable seating. It's usually a quiet setting, with cozy vibes. We love sitting at the round table with the lazy Susan so we can easily share all of our dishes. Usually when we do make reservations, we request this table. The service is always very friendly and attentive. I do have to comment that takeout versus eating there is akin to night and day. The experience and quality is best when you dine in. Overall, this is a favorite place in my book.

Crispy wantons! Nice and crunchy!

Have not eaten at the restaurant but have been ordering through door dash. Fast and delicious! What more can I ask for?

I frequently order won ton soup from Blue Sky. The broth is flavorful and I love the won tons. I've tried the won ton soup at lots of other places in and around San Jose, and Blue Sky is the best. I also enjoy the potstickers and BBQ pork bun. The potstickers are thick and tasty. They are a nice compliment to the soup. I've tried other dishes at Blue Sky such as honey walnut chicken, broccoli beef, and BBQ pork egg fu young and didn't care for any of it. It was heavy with too much batter or sauce.

We tried their lunch menu on the weekend. The food was so yummy! The owner was nice and chatted with us while we waited for out food to go. We had the sweet and sour pork combo and the shrimp combo. The interior had lots of seating and a fish tank with fish that have been there for years! Pretty cool.

From Santa Clara Country!

Wow, after seeing a current report from the Santa Clara County Food Inspector, I don't think I can no longer patronize Blue Sky Chinese Restaurant! The report shows a disregard for food safety, which is a disregard to the safety of their customers! Santa Clara Country had to temporarily close down the restaurant due to unacceptable food safety practices! It really saddens me because this was my go-to for Chinese food!

This is an average Chinese restaurant. Please read on for more details. We have ordered broccoli chicken, chili chicken and steamed rice. The broccoli chicken is kind of bland with abundance of broccoli and carrots alongside chicken. The chicken seems a bit slimy, but maybe because of the sauce it's cooked in. The chili chicken is very subpar. I have been to many Bay Area authentic Chinese restaurants. The chicken in chili chicken should be crispy, not soft. It also comes with plenty of red chilies, jalapenos (don't know why, as Chinese dishes don't have jalapeños) and scallions. Overall it's an average experience. The ambience of the restaurant is pretty nice. Very clean and the staff are nice. It was very crowded when we went there and it was around 8:30 pm. We will definitely visit again as in nearby area in Campbell not much decent Chinese option.

Fried prawns. Way too much breading and the prawns were overcooked.

I was excited to try this place out since I was craving Chinese food and read great reviews on the food delivery app I ordered this through. Boy was I disappointed. I ordered the combo #S which includes: Won ton soup, fried prawns, sweet & sour pork or chicken, chicken chow mein or almond chicken, BBQ pork fried rice. I opted for the sweet and sour pork and chicken chow mein. I know Chinese food is somewhat greasy and saucy and salty but I felt like this meal felt a bit extra on the saltiness and grease. The fried prawns also had so much breading that when I took a bite I barely tasted the prawn which seemed so overcooked. Prawns are supposed to be plump with flavor. These were shriveled up. The wonton soup was plain. I'm used to vegetables and maybe pieces of pork in the soup from other places but this was just plain and was ok. This meal was a disappointment to me and I won't be going back. If you go hopefully you have a better experience.

My favorites here are the special crab puffs, broccoli beef, veggie lo mein, and the tangerine chicken-- which really isn't spicy at all!

Food is okay. Service is fine and good ambiance. Pretty standard I would say. If there was a 3.5 stars that would be more accurate.

The restaurant is located in a strip mall with a variety of restaurants, including Vietnamese, Japanese, Mediterranean, etc., and there is plenty of parking. The mall is located across the street from Lunardi's grocery store. We ordered hot and sour soup, Mongolian beef, a shrimp-squid-scallops stir-fry and a deep fried fish slices dish with pepper and salt. The meal was quite delicious, the chef cooks the dishes in the kitchen from scratch right after you order. There were complimentary dishes of edamame and a cold bean soup dessert that were "help yourself ". I would definitely come here again with my mom for another meal. A couple of families came in for dinner with their kids, a few people came to pick up their takeout, and we noticed that all patrons chowed down the delicious food, even the little kids seemed to enjoy the food as well. Prices were somewhat higher than the menus that you see online, but currently, it's inflationary times right now, so it's to be expected. However, the quality of the dishes was well worth the price. Try out this place, it should be a good pick for a family dinner.

Had a great experience prior to this with a friend so I wanted to bring my mom to try. My experience from the service however was a little uncomfortable. When I went with my mom there was no customers. The server seated us at the bench closest to the wall (the table was pushed into the bench against the wall so we had to move it.) Apparently a lot of the legs on some of the tables and benches are wobbly so they put things under to balance it. The servers told us to move it back under the table since we pushed the table out to sit into the bench. My mom is older and she has a hard time walking, she asked to switch to another table where the benches and tables were already spaced out properly because it is hard for her to bend down and move the things under the table legs. The server gave my mom an attitude and asked why two people couldn't fit into our current table.

I had just been to a new-to-me one that had micro chicken bits coated in mega thick batter, and I was still smarting from that experience. But I overcame my fear of a repeat experience and ordered the Orange Chicken lunch special. What a difference! This place is really really good! You can see the included chicken salad is put together with care and multiple ingredients: shredded chicken, fried won ton skin, almonds, nice dressing. Impressed. My chicken came and big pieces! You bite into one and it's substantial white breast meat - wow, nice! I'm just too used to biting into battered chicken or pork and feeling like other places used junk bits hiding within the batter and sauce. But Taba Taba uses quality meat and a more sophisticated orange peel sauce. You can see/find the dried orange peel within the sauce which gives it a more complex flavor. I really liked it. The chow mein was good too - not oily at all. The service was friendly and great too. The woman who served us was friendly and really really attentive to all tables, looking around to see what was needed, making sure everyone was doing OK, whether water needed to be refilled, picking up the check as soon as the credit card was put down on the check. A real care factor above and beyond what you normally find. She chatted with my wife too for a bit on our way out - friendly and warm. I usually don't make a point of saying, "The food is really good here", but I felt compelled to. I know that Chinese food restaurants, the vast majority, do cater to American tastes, so the food isn't strictly "authentic" - just a reality of who the audience is. But even so, this was done at an elevated level that satisfies the American taste, while adding some richness/subtlety to the flavors that makes it better than your typical Chinese restaurant. I'd be very happy to come here again. I talked a lot about the food and service, but the decor was also nice - pretty typical, nothing outstanding in this regard, but the food and service are so much more important to me anyway, and those were definitely strong points of Taba Taba.

We felt lucky to find an empty spot in their parking lot, which was shared with Willow Street Pizza. The restaurant wasn't too busy. Typical Chinese restaurant ambience but with dimmed lights. It was more catered for non-Chinese customers, with forks on the table. No problem asking for chopsticks, as expected. Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered Lunch Combo A: Honey Walnut Prawns with Chow Mein. The hot & sour soup included with the lunch was delicious and not too spicy. It's perfect after adding some white pepper. The chicken salad was fresh, crunchy, and delightful. It's a much better and healthier alternative to spring rolls usually included in lunch specials at other Chinese restaurants. The chow mein was not oily nor salty at all, and had quite a bit of vegetables. It paired really well with the honey walnut prawns, which was prepared really well. There're 8 large, flavorful and juicy prawns, and a handful of candied walnuts. My husband enjoyed his orange chicken lunch combo as well. I tried a piece of his chicken, and it was scrumptious, with a light batter and yummy sauce. We ended our meal with the classic fortune cookies. I was surprised by how well executed and tasty the food was. Comparing to the lunch specials at Tsing Tao, which we tried recently, we both preferred the ones at Taba Taba. They do charge $1 per person for hot tea at Taba Taba, though.
