Last Friday I came to eat around afternoon time (4pm). The ambiance was really nice. The only problem I had was during my experience I could hear 2 girls in the back screaming and laughing. This was not only annoying but also unprofessional. I talked to the male server up front and he apologized on their behalf. This is not okay and needs to be worked on. Came here for lunch with a friend. First, let me say that prices are absolutely reasonable. I had dumplings and noodles at a place in Santa Clara last week, which was twice the price. The food came out fast and was very good. The cold sesame noodles was delicious as was the kale salad. Dumplings were also generously filled. As with many places now, you order with a QR code, which makes it super simple. Highly recommend this place for dumplings and noodles. read more

Stopped by for a quick bite, the prices are reasonable and service is quick. You order by scanning a QR code and the server brings them out quickly. Xiao Long Bao (5/5) - Excellent size, soup is flavorful and not overpowering. We got the pork and crab one which we thought was a steal, considering it's around $17+ at Din Tai Fung. My real complaint is that I wish the ginger that's served alongside the XLB wasn't minced. I think it's better when it's shredded. Pork wontons in Chili Oil (3/5) - Honestly was very disappointed by the size of these wontons. I had expected them to be bigger but they were all quarter sized. Taste was great though. Sweet and Sour Cucumbers (4/5) - I love this stuff! I wish I could elegantly eat them lol. I feel like I have to dissect the cucumber. We had lunch here today and it was really good. This was our first time here, at the Campbell location. We usually go to the one in Almaden, since we live very close to it. We happened to be at the Pruneyard and decided to try this location out. When we walked in, the place was very busy and full. There were also people waiting to pick up orders to go. We were warmly welcomed and were taken to a table. This location is much larger and has more seating than the one in Almaden. I think they are in a great location in Campbell, adding to the diversity of eateries at the Pruneyard. We made our choices on the provided order form. You can also order with their QR code with your smart phone. We ordered our favorites: pan fried pork buns, chicken & vegetable boiled wontons in chili sauce, pork boiled wontons in chili sauce, sweet & sour cucumber, Yibin noodles and hot jasmine tea. We also ordered something new, which was the cold noodles with sesame dressing. We were brought two iced waters first. And then one by one our items were delivered to us in 5 minutes increments. This worked out nice. We enjoyed all the items we ordered except two things. The Yibin noodles were advertised as having a new recipe. They seemed sweeter than we remembered and we actually preferred it the way it used to be. We still ate it but probably wouldn't order it again. The cold noodles in the sesame sauce were a bit bland and had way too much sauce in it for my liking. I ended up dumping out as much of the sauce as I could and then added some chili oil and soy sauce to it. That made it so much better. One of our servers let me know that you can customize the amount of sauce in the future, after I let him know that it was way too saucy. That was good to know. There were several employees helping us and they were all amazing and attentive. In fact, I would say this location has the best customer service compared to the location in Almaden. I want to preface this by saying that I go to the DoughZone in Cupertino every other week, and I absolutely love the place. So naturally, when they opened one near me in Campbell, I wanted to try it. Came in the other day and I was pretty disappointed both in the food and the service. I understand they might still be working out some kinks but the staff needs training. I had to tell them several times to bring ginger, or to follow up on an order with the kitchen, and even asked for to go boxes a few times until they finally did. The food... burnt, salty and lacking everything that makes DoughZone delicious. The chicken potstickers came with their bottom burnt, I couldn't eat them; the dough was horrendous and the meat very very salty. The cucumbers in the cucumber salad looks like they were cut by a 5year old got his hands on a knife for the first time. It also lacked a lot of flavor. Dan dan noodles were drenched in chilli oil. Sweet and sour dumplings, if they had no sauce, they would have been tasteless. The bao's came 20min late and were VERY salty and the XLB were just fine... I'll give this pace another try in a month, hopefully they figure their stuff out by then, if not, I'll stick to going to Cupertino where I am never this disappointed. read more

So happy to find Dough Zone open in Pruneyard Plaza. Loved the Spicy Beef rolls. The bread was similar to Indian paratha. Also, the Banana Crepe with melting cream was heavenly. There is a 15-20 min wait for this item so be prepared. Service was mostly good. The entrance to the store was super confusing with multiple doors locked and instructions only on one door to please use another door. It was funny watching so many folks trying to open the doors one by one. This is embarrassing for the store. They need to clearly highlight the instructions in multiple places. read more

Dough Zone is a new chain dumpling restaurant in Pruneyard. The place is new and clean but they have some opportunities for improvement. The service is pretty bad. While the waitress was friendly, the rest of the staff is pretty rough. Your food doesn't get delivered, it's more like thrown in the general direction of your table. It's inelegant and pretty obnoxious for people expecting a tip. The food itself is mediocre. The steamed chicken bun is way more bun than meat. I dismantled one for your viewing pleasure. The pork itself is pretty chewy and tasteless. The XLB is weird. Not that hot and very bland. The beef pancake was barely edible. Lukewarm and bland. I don't plan to return anytime soon. read more

I came the Saturday right after they opened and I've been to the Cupterino locations and I just don't think the flavor profile of Dough Zone is my favorite. Many of the items are nice presentation wise but lack flavor. I found it a bit strange that they weren't offering any specials from having just opened but I'm guessing it's because it's a chain? What we ordered: XLB: 2/5 - was lacking the umami rich flavor I'm used too and the dough seemed a bit under cooked Pan Fried Soup Dumplings: 3/5 - wished there was more soup and flavor Dan Dan Noodles: 4/5 - great flavor, only minus a star because it definitely seemed like the noodles were under cooked Beef Noodle Soup: 2/5 - sad flavor and the chili sauce jar on the table isn't spicy and the beef had a bit too much cartilage Chicken & Pork pan fried Dumplings: 4/5 - not bad but came last so it was a bit difficult to finish after having eaten everything else ~~Parking: The restaurant is located in between Sports Basement & Trader Joes and it can be difficult to find parking sometimes on that side but it really just depends on the timing. ~~Service: Pretty good. The staff was very attentive, though I did have to ask for the ginger sauce tray to have with our XLB but oddly the ginger game grated versus strips. ~~Best Part: Dan dan noodles but I swore the other location I've been to had ground pork in it versus this one was vegetarian. Extremely disappointing experience at Dough Zone. We waited 40 minutes for our fried rice for a Togo order, while the rest of our food had already arrived 20 minutes earlier. You would think that after making customers wait that long, the fried rice would at least be worth it. Instead, it came out as crispy rice--dry, hard, and severely overcooked. Unfortunately, the fried rice was not the only problem. The pan-fried dumplings were also overly cooked, leaving them incredibly dry with practically no juice in the filling at all. Even though fried dumplings are supposed to have a crispy exterior, the inside should still have a juicy, flavorful filling. These were so dry that the texture completely ruined the experience. The other dough items were stuck together, and the fried dough was clearly over-fried, making everything feel dry, and poorly executed. The only saving grace was the noodles. They were actually enjoyable--the noodles had a good chewy texture and were the one dish that felt properly prepared. Waiting 40 minutes for one dish while the rest of the food sits there getting cold for 20 minutes, only for that dish to arrive overcooked, is simply not acceptable. Excited to see another dough zone, this time in Campbell. I have been to the ones in Cupertino and Almaden before so I knew what to expect. *Ambiance and service: restaurant is L shaped but spacious enough. They can seat large groups by combining tables. Decor is contemporary with the exposed wood and fluted design. They have options for QR code based ordering, paper menu with pictures and a small menu card to mark our options as well. Since they just opened, the service was attentive. We got our orders quickly and they kept refilling our waters and checking on us often. *Food: I like dough zone and that's the reason I chose this as one of the restaurants to take my parents to on their recent trip to bayarea. And thankfully they enjoyed the food! What I like the most about this place is that it has a lot of options and the serving size is small and prices to match the portions. This allows us to order and try a large variety of dishes. They also have a more than decent selection of vegetarian and chicken options, this is especially important for people like me with a limited palate. We ordered around 12-15 dishes, the common theme across the board- * most if not all dishes were decent. * some of the noodles dishes like yibin and minced chicken were a bit salty. * the noodles needed more cooking and were raw in some places. * the soup dumplings flavor felt too fatty or chicken forward. I was so hungry after my workout class and I saw that this place finally opened! It's super spacious inside and we were able to get seated immediately around 6:30pm. Ordering is pretty easy, we were able to scan to order on my phone. We ordered the pork xiao long bao, pork chili wontons, dan dan noodles, sesame noodles, and chicken dumplings. I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of the rest. My favorite definitely had to be the pork xiao long bao and pork chili wontons and my least favorite were the sesame noodles. So excited about a Dough zone closer to my home. First time we went there the service was just okay as the servers were all over the place. Giving some of us waters and forgot the other in our group. We asked again and they did bring out waters for the rest of the party. Food was decent and they had chicken XLB which were good. The 2nd and 3rd time I visited they didn't have chicken XLB in stock! The service always wasn't good. The servers need to explain what is being served and not just dump the food on the table. I would highly recommend corporate to train your staff better as the service now going there 3 times is still all over the place. While I think they are still working out the kinks, the food is still consistent across all the locations so far. I attempted to do an online order while we were shopping around Pruneyard and somehow couldn't get through to the payment screen. Better for me as I found ordering at the restaurant was a few dollars cheaper per dish, but did have to wait a little longer. It was still somewhat early (5pm on a Sunday), but they were well staffed and ready to go. As more patrons came in to eat, or to-go orders picked up, it did feel a little bit slower. I ordered a couple of XLBs, the fried rice, the cucumber dish, the shrimp and zucchini dumplings, and beef sandwich. Once my order was ready, I picked up, but luckily did a quick check before getting into the car, as one order was missing. Had to wait a bit longer once they corrected it. But all the dishes were great. Our little one devoured a bunch of the XLBs; the fried rice portion felt small, but was good. Besides the XLBs, the cucumber was also a nice dish, refreshingly crisp, with a hint of spice from the chili oil, but mostly you tasted the sweet and sourness of the pickling, plus the way it was cut was fun to eat. This place kept coming up when I searched for dumplings on several platforms and there happened to be one in the same plaza as where I go for laser skin treatments. I had walked by it a few times and it seemed like it was always empty. I walked in and it happened to be empty. The inside is a very minimalist clean aesthetic. I got seated and they proceeded to tell me I needed to scan the QR code and order from my phone. No big deal I figured this is the direction of the restaurant business these days. I ordered the Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings, wontons in chili oil, garlic noodles and hot tea to drink. Everything came out quickly but they didn't bring the vinegar and ginger sauce for the dumplings and finally one of the runners noticed and brought it to me. By then my dumplings were cold and it's not quite the same experience. The wontons were tasty and the garlic noodles were ok nothing too exciting. I figured since I had to order online and didn't have direct service that I could pay the same way. That's a no, you have to go up to the counter to pay. Not that it's a big deal but you've already taken out the customer service piece of it. Then I have to go pay at the counter and then want a tip at that rate so I didn't really love that. It's not likely to be on my list to try again unless I'm picking up for take out. read more

I decided to try out the newest location of Dough Zone when I was in the neighborhood of PruneYard. I'm fact, this is my very first visit to any DZ location. DZ is located between Traders Joe and Sport Basement. I was able to find parking quite readily. DZ had just opened (11am) when I was warmly greeted by Catalina. She's the reason for my 5 stars. She was friendly, informative and helpful in my lunch choices. I naturally had to order the XLB, and with her help added the beef stew noodles and the ube milk tea. As promised the beef stew was extremely tender which was essential in ordering this instead of the Dan Dan noodles. It was so good that I ordered both the beef stew and Dan Dan (had to try) to take home as it was too hot to cook. I also ordered extra noodles...It looks like all the noodle dishes are just portioned for a single serving which was fine. You get 8 XLB per order which is normal. Both dishes were very tasty and come out piping hot. Prices were reasonable. I would return. read more

I agree with the same sentiment of others; the food is not consistent. The dan dan noodles were almost inedible because it was too salty. The XLB had good flavor but the dough was thick. The wontons also had thick dough and little filling. The pan fried wontons were not crispy and drowning in oil. The fried rice was okay but, contrary to the other items, seemed to be under seasoned (or it may have tasted that way because it was the last thing served to us.) I won't be returning to this location. I hope management makes some changes based on reviews-- taste the food if you don't believe us! read more

Today I ordered take out from dough zone. Order went in at 11:40 am pick up time was set to 12:19. I arrive at 12:19 and they said they are waiting for 1 more item. That item, a fried rice took 20 minutes to make. As I'm waiting. All the food becomes soggy and clumpy. We get the food and drive home 5 minutes away and open the boxes. Everything is dry. Soup dumplings. Dry. Noodles. Dry. Pan fried dumplings. Dry. On top of that, the fried rice that took over an hour to prep was made with old dry rice. And was half the amount that came out of the kitchen for the dine in orders. Dry and bland. And the kicker is out of the 9 items ordered. Only 7 times were correct. Two were not what we ordered. I've tried 3 different locations and this one is the worst. What a mess. read more

My family and I came on 4th of July. Upon getting into the restaurant, we were greeted with a friendly welcome and seated right away. Everybody for the most part was very nice and friendly. One thing about the service that stuck out to me was that no one really checked up on us (like, ever) after we got all our food and during our meal. If it was a really busy day for the restaurant, I would understand, but it wasn't busy at all. It was, in fact, pretty empty in the restaurant during the time frame that we were there. Ambiance: the restaurant had a nice, simple casual environment with everything clean and organized Food: Items we ordered that we all liked overall as far texture and flavors go: the pork and crab XLB, chicken potstickers (very nicely crispy), the Q-Bao pan fried pork buns, sweet and sour cucumbers, and the broccoli with the seafood sauce. Items that we weren't too fond of: the kale salad (way too overdressed and salty), the beef pancake rolls (also really salty and a little tough to eat as far as texture goes for both the beef and the pancake) and the Dan Dan noodles (it was bit lacking). I'm still sitting in the restaurant waiting for the fried rice that they forgot to give us during our dine in because the kitchen lost the ticket. They offered to take off the charge for it + two other items and to pack the dried rice for to-go, which was really nice of them. It's been 35 mins and we have checked in with three different waiters/waitresses on the fried rice and are still waiting... lol our waiter also never came back to refill water or check on us. The ambiance is nice and has a great atmosphere! The prices are great and that is one of the best things about this place! The staff was very attentive in checking in on us and they made sure to refill our waters. Overall service was excellent. Since this was a Tuesday afternoon there weren't that many people, but the ambiance of the restaurant overall was pretty nice. We ordered our food in two sets. First we ordered the pork XLB, the beef pot stickers, Dan Dan noodles and the ja jiang mian. Then we ordered the Q-bao and banana crepe. The first round of food came out quickly and we noticed that the banana crepe was sold out. 1. XLB - there was nothing really special about the XLB at Dough Zone. The wrapper was a bit thicker than I personally like and the filling was just ok. Not the worst XLB I've had, but there are definitely better out there. We were offered ginger for these and the ginger was given to us grated instead of julienne. 3/5 2. Beef pot stickers - these were surprisingly good with the crispy underside and a juicy filling. Would definitely order these again. 4/5 3. Dan Dan noodles - these noodles are made with ma la (麻辣) sauce which translates to numbing spice popular in sichuan cuisine. The flavor of the noodles was a little under whelming, relying entirely on the numbing spice, and honestly these were not spicy enough. I also did not enjoy the texture of these noodles as they were cooked al dente, but that did not go well with these types of noodles in my opinion. 2/5 4. Ja Jiang mian - these noodles were cooked to the same texture as the Dan Dan noodles and I didn't enjoy the texture. The flavor was a little too sweet and the texture of the sauce was a little grainy. 3/5 After finishing these 4 dishes we were still a little hungry so we ordered the Q-bao. We also noticed the banana crepe was no longer sold out, so we ordered that too. When the waiter came out with the order ticket she apologized and told us there would be a little bit of a wait for both of these as they were fried. The total wait time was 20 minutes after ordering. The restaurant was not busy, so wait times might be longer if they are busy. 5. Q-bao - these were the best thing we ordered. The bun was warm and fluffy and the filling went well with them. The inside was moist and juicy and the sear on the bottom was perfect. 5/5 6. Banana crepe w/ whipped cream - the batter used for the crepe was the same texture as what you would expect the green onion pancake to have. It was chewy and flaky, but a little off putting as I was almost expecting a savory flavor from my dessert.
