    Brisket with broccoli bento box
    Jonny T.

So we were in the area, and I had this spot saved in my Cambrian Park Collection, on Yelp, so my beautiful wife and I decided to give it a shot. I gotta say it wasn't a disappointment! It tasted like a delicious home cooked meal! The brisket was so tender and soft, and I didn't need a knife to cut it! The egg fried rice, tasted like the kind I had when I was growing up! No soy sauce to kill the flavor, just tasty side dish to accompany my delicious beef brisket! The older gentleman who waited on us and served us our food, was super nice and welcoming! Overall: 20/10! I'll definitely be back to try the recommendations from other Yelp elite!

    Orange Chicken Bento

My wife and I had dinner here on a Saturday evening. We were promptly seated and presented with a bowl of peanuts and some lemon water in a pitcher. The ambience is very basic, but is clean and bright. The menu is limited compared to other Chinese restaurants, but from what we experienced the offerings are well executed, delicious, and have generous portion sizes. We wanted to try the Pan-Fried Shrimp, Scallop and Abalone Potstickers ($25.95) but they only had Pork and Cabbage ($15.95) on that day. So, we skipped the potstickers... Interestingly, they have a section on the menu for "Main Dishes" and "Bento" with the same items but priced slightly less expensively. The Bento dishes were served on Japanese Bento plates (compartmented), and had, in addition to the main item, a vegetable (steamed broccoli (no sauce)), and rice (your choice of white or fried). My wife had the Orange Chicken Bento ($15.95) with fried rice. The orange chicken was very tasty with an orange sauce that was great. It was a perfect taste hinting of sweet orange, but it wasn't sweet. I had the Cumin Lamb Bento ($17.95) with fried rice. This was a great tasting flavor that was new to me. The sauce contained whole cumin and had lots of other bits of yummy things. This dish was fantastic! The fried rice was different from what we expected, but it was delicious. The color was more off-white than the usual brown. There were lots of green onions and other great tasting things, which gave the rice a wonderful flavor. The portions were generous. We had leftovers to enjoy in another meal. The service was good and the staff was friendly. The food took longer than expected, but several customers arrived and ordered at roughly the same time, so that is understandable. The waiting was worth it for the delicious food that was served. I recommend this place. We will be back.

Chicken noodles, these were raw in the center

The restaurant has poor ventilation and was full of smoked oil smell. They need to air it out a bit as it's not healthy. The poor rating is not for the ambiance though, the food has several issues. I feel bad about this as it seems to be a mom and pop joint. We got chicken chow mein, in addition to lack of flavor the noodles were raw in the center. Not aldente, they were raw. I attached a noodle cross section picture. The wonton soup was literally like water. There was no flavor whatsoever. I am surprised by the high rating, not sure if we caught them on a bad day but I stopped eating after the first few spoons.

Scouring through yelp for a solid eat, saw this place had high reviews, good looking food, so I decided to try it. Did not disappoint. Food: the food was delicious. So good. Had the cumin lamb bento box, with the fried rice and extra meat upgrades. The meal came with soup, bread and they added some white rice with that appetizer. The soup was good. I enjoyed it a lot specially on that rainy and cold day. The lamb was delicious. Just well done. I will say, a little too much spring onion but not enough to sour the meal. The fried rice was delicious as well. That with the red pepper flakes on the table and I was blown away. Service: great! There's one thing I love more than good food and that's good food with good service. Super nice folks, attentive best they could, and just good sports overall. Ambiance: gives me takeout vibe. Maybe it was the rainy day but I was the only one who sat in. Most orders were to go. Feedback: My feedback to the owner tho is to work on the ventilation. Air doesn't really move in there it seems and that may help with the experience of being in there for a meal. Other than that, super excited to have tried this spot. 100% recommend it. I'm excited to go back and try some more of their dishes. Kudos!

Lucky House at 2622 Union Ave, San Jose, CA 95124 Cambrian Park, formerly Union Chinese, is a new restaurant I decided to try. The place had some remodeling, a repaint and a deep cleaning. It gave a very nice appearance (see photos). The server was very friendly and explained the menu to me. This is not a typical Chinese restaurant. They had many unusual dishes I haven't seen before. Being a new restaurant, they are trying different menu ideas. I started with peanuts, Hot and Sour Soup, Shrimp Pork Wonton soup, fried Rice (Excellent), Bok Choy, Egg Roll, Pork and Shrimp Wonton Soup, and the Red Braised Pork (Pork Belly) Bento Box Everything was excellent! I really liked how there was very little salt in the dishes. The Chef came out and asked how everything was. He wanted me to try the dumplings, so I did. It was a pork and cabbage and was one of the best ones I've had. This is a family run place and everyone worked as a team. The Chef, server and manager were very nice and cared about my experience. This is an excellent restaurant that is family oriented. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Lucky House!

    Complimentary roasted unsalted peanuts

Red braised pork belly bento is delicious! The pork belly is incredibly tender and the fried rice we replaced the white rice with had well-separated grains and had its own flavor from whatever oil is used, despite not really being seasoned. The vegetable on the side of the bento was garlic-fried bok choy, and no orange dressing or whatever is in the pictures online. They seem to still be working out the menu. The table had salt, black pepper, white pepper, soy sauce, and chili oil as condiments on the side. We were also given complimentary roasted and unsalted peanuts. Unfortunately everything else was disappointing. - We were given soup that might have been hot and sour soup due to the classic ingredients but there was zero flavor and goopy/gelatinous (possibly from added cornstarch). I once went on vacation and added gelatin powder to bottled water (for health reasons at the time) and the water jello was somewhat disgusting but I drank/"ate" it anyway. This soup vaguely reminded me of that. My SO had to finish it because this was one of the few times where filling my stomach on something felt like a waste. - Spring rolls were soggy, with the same ingredients as the soup but with some pork or chicken pieces in only 1 of the 4 pieces. Both were complimentary but I wouldn't order these on their own. - We also ordered the cumin lamb and the spicy chicken nuggets in the starter section. Both meats were hard and chewy. The lamb might have been softer if the pieces were thinner slices rather than chunks. - The chicken nuggets were more like grilled chicken pieces than fried (even thinly coated fried chicken has a crisp). The seasoning is mildly hot, accurate to the website description, but no garlic butter taste at all. The owner kept apologizing for the wait on both meats - since we were the first ones to order this that day, they had to heat up the oil or something - but it didn't take that long (10 minutes max). So it was baffling that neither meat was even hot in temperature. We would have preferred to wait longer if it meant getting better quality. - Even some presentation (greens for decoration or a lemon wedge like in the pictures taken by the restaurant, and not in tiny compostable white bowls) would have made it appear less like a la carte meats that I could cook better myself. I genuinely don't understand the stellar reviews on Google, if they aren't simply friends and family - maybe we just caught them on a bad day? If it weren't for the 20% discount (until Feb 15th), these items can't compare to other restaurants like Home Eats or Soong Soong. I brought 2 Pyrex dishes for leftovers so will see if I can fix the meats. I feel bad because it IS a family-owned business but other than the pork belly and fried rice, the Yelp rating of "could have been better" pretty accurately describes our experience.

    Vegetable? Chow mein
    Marie S.

This was a very weird experience here. I should have known when the first thing I order was not available then we tried to order more then 3 items and she told us no that's to much food. So we just stood with are 3 items. My husband plate came out first and the broccoli was cold. Then mine came out and there were no vegetables just eggs and cabbage in a vegetable chow mein. Didn't have a very good flavor I took a few bites. Then my daughter's orange chicken was not good. I tried her broccoli and it was indeed cold. Orange chicken tasted like orange marmalade. I would never go back. Oh and there was yelling and fighting in the kitchen. The reviews are very misleading. Except for the one where you feel like you're in a SNL skit cuz we actually did feel that way. The weird feeling we felt we should have just walked out.

The food was really good and the employees were super nice. I really hope this place does well. I highly recommend giving this place a try. Coming back next time for their dumplings for sure. Ambiance was really good too.

Waiter is very much not attentive to anyone. Doesn't look customers in the eye, provides minimal service, hell, we had to ask the support staff to bring us chopsticks for food we had delivered to us 10 minutes ago, which grew cold. He never checked in on us, and we were charged 20% gratuity since we were 12 people. I don't mind auto-gratuity, but when the service is nonexistent, it really doesn't sit well. Overall it was a good experience, but the service is the deciding factor of anyone one of us 12 returning. Really unfortunate service from our waiter, other support staff seemed really nice, but he wasn't in charge of taking care of us, sadly. We were thoroughly ignored. Again, food was good, but service was so poor that this review is mainly negative. Edit: to top is off, delivered the wrong food twice, we cancelled our pork belly buns because they took too long/he ordered mala buns for us instead. Another addition: charged us twice for sea salt cream that we didn't order, and tried to say that we did order it.
