Chow Mein (thin noodles) with Combination meat & shrimp
    Steve D.

14030 Blossom Hill Rd Los Gatos, CA 95032 (Cross St Harwood Rd) "Tea Garden Chinese Kitchen" is a small takeout restaurant that offers a limited menu of Americanized Chinese food. It's located in a small shopping center anchored by a Walgreens. I was there on a Thursday afternoon, around 530pm. As I walked in the place, all you see is a huge kitchen and two tiny tables. Looks like they had no orders, as workers were just sitting around. So I didn't even look at the menu. It's a Chinese restaurant, so I confidently asked for an order of Beef Chow Fun to-go. The young man said that they don't serve that anymore. They only serve fried rice and chow mein. He pointed at the electronic ordering screen, and asked me to use that. I ordered: Chow Mein, thin noodles, w/ Combination shrimp & meats ( with tax and everything it came to $15.24). The way the menu works is if you want veggie chow mein, it's $10.95. But I wanted Combination (aka House) Chow Mein, so add $3 more. So my House Chow Mein rang up to $13.95. Actually, my chow mein was very good. I watched it being made. It's "hot wok" style of cooking. The result is hot, fresh, and tasty chinese fast food. My order was loaded with juicy shrimp, and tender chicken and beef. The noodles were moist, but a bit greasy. It also had a spicy flavor. I notice other Yelp reviews mention a recent change of ownership. Previous reviews show food being served in large white tray containers. Now they use smaller black microwavable trays. So it looks like portions are smaller. Overall, this place resembles a ghost kitchen. It's setup for electronic ordering, even though a human being was standing right in front of me. It's primarily takeout, as there's only two tiny tables. So most likely it's a cashless business. No fortune cookie! Positive notes: -Free parking -delivery available -paper menu available -napkins and utensils incl, no chopsticks Would I return? Maybe, if I'm in the area Save $$$, order it and pickup yourself.

This is a hole in the wall with 4 tables and not much to look at. it is geared more towards takeout customers as opposed to dine-in. Case in point, they serve the food even for dine-in in a to-go box. The folks are right about the woman at the front being curt...I get it though. It's just her and one other person doing it all. The food was meh, I don't see myself coming.

New Owners are terrible. Food is old and sitting around all day. $13 for a crappy item.

This restaurant is a tiny place with very little space for indoor dining. I have only ordered take out from this place. I get the combination Chow Fun. The portions are large and the ingredients are fresh. The lady that works the counter is very nice. If you are looking for a place with good Chinese takeout give this place a try.

Absolutely the worst Chinese food I've ever had in my life. The steamed rice was even bad.

I had just been to a new-to-me one that had micro chicken bits coated in mega thick batter, and I was still smarting from that experience. But I overcame my fear of a repeat experience and ordered the Orange Chicken lunch special. What a difference! This place is really really good! You can see the included chicken salad is put together with care and multiple ingredients: shredded chicken, fried won ton skin, almonds, nice dressing. Impressed. My chicken came and big pieces! You bite into one and it's substantial white breast meat - wow, nice! I'm just too used to biting into battered chicken or pork and feeling like other places used junk bits hiding within the batter and sauce. But Taba Taba uses quality meat and a more sophisticated orange peel sauce. You can see/find the dried orange peel within the sauce which gives it a more complex flavor. I really liked it. The chow mein was good too - not oily at all. The service was friendly and great too. The woman who served us was friendly and really really attentive to all tables, looking around to see what was needed, making sure everyone was doing OK, whether water needed to be refilled, picking up the check as soon as the credit card was put down on the check. A real care factor above and beyond what you normally find. She chatted with my wife too for a bit on our way out - friendly and warm. I usually don't make a point of saying, "The food is really good here", but I felt compelled to. I know that Chinese food restaurants, the vast majority, do cater to American tastes, so the food isn't strictly "authentic" - just a reality of who the audience is. But even so, this was done at an elevated level that satisfies the American taste, while adding some richness/subtlety to the flavors that makes it better than your typical Chinese restaurant. I'd be very happy to come here again. I talked a lot about the food and service, but the decor was also nice - pretty typical, nothing outstanding in this regard, but the food and service are so much more important to me anyway, and those were definitely strong points of Taba Taba.

We felt lucky to find an empty spot in their parking lot, which was shared with Willow Street Pizza. The restaurant wasn't too busy. Typical Chinese restaurant ambience but with dimmed lights. It was more catered for non-Chinese customers, with forks on the table. No problem asking for chopsticks, as expected. Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered Lunch Combo A: Honey Walnut Prawns with Chow Mein. The hot & sour soup included with the lunch was delicious and not too spicy. It's perfect after adding some white pepper. The chicken salad was fresh, crunchy, and delightful. It's a much better and healthier alternative to spring rolls usually included in lunch specials at other Chinese restaurants. The chow mein was not oily nor salty at all, and had quite a bit of vegetables. It paired really well with the honey walnut prawns, which was prepared really well. There're 8 large, flavorful and juicy prawns, and a handful of candied walnuts. My husband enjoyed his orange chicken lunch combo as well. I tried a piece of his chicken, and it was scrumptious, with a light batter and yummy sauce. We ended our meal with the classic fortune cookies. I was surprised by how well executed and tasty the food was. Comparing to the lunch specials at Tsing Tao, which we tried recently, we both preferred the ones at Taba Taba. They do charge $1 per person for hot tea at Taba Taba, though.

We were a group of three, so we went ahead and got the dinner for three. EVERYTHING was perfect and fantastic. since it was our first time eating here the dinner for three gave us a good selection of the dishes we usually order when trying a new Chinese restaurant, like our baseline stuff. The only thing we agreed could have been a little better was the cream cheese wonton were a little too rich, a LOT of filling, and it was so good, we almost filled up on those. Stiil, no regrets, right? I have to tell you the Mongolian Beef was so good... like I can't begin to explain to you how perfect it was, the pepper level was perfect, warmed my sinuses right up. They did not bring us one thing we did not agree was awesome. We were very full and very happy when we left! While they were quite busy at lunch, it didn't feel crowded at all. Service was efficient and friendly. Their complementary kimchi was more sweet than spicy. Tea was nice and hot. Portion was very generous, and I had some leftover to take home. My husband didn't care for his sweet and sour chicken, though. I tried a small piece, and thought it was all right. We also got fortune cookies with our check.
