Lemon Poppy Old-Fashioned, Chocolate Bergamot Old-Fashioned, Raspberry Rosemary Old-Fashioned, Blueberry Bourbon Basil

I'm sure every location has great donuts, but I came to the one on Gaines st. Service was great, but the donuts are so good even if service was bad, I wouldn't mind If you're into old-fashioned donuts, THIS IS THE PLACE. I really enjoyed the chocolate bergamot and lemon poppyseed -- definitely should've tried the plain old fashioned as a litmus test, but happy with my selection. I also tried the raspberry old-fashioned and the fruitiness definitely cut through some of the heaviness of old fashioned donuts. The only raised donut I tried was the blueberry bourbon -- it's light and tangy. Due to the bourbon, there is a slight kombucha-esque component, but it's not off putting, it works pretty well.

the glazed and lemon poppy were so delicious! the dough is soft but a bit crunchy and the flavor is strong with every bite. we went in the morning and it was empty. it's a spacious space with seating. the donuts tasted fresh and amazing.

Classic donuts with a twist done well. If you're not feeling up to the antics of voodoo this is your place. Simple no frills donut shop that gets straight to the point without slacking on flavor. I got a raspberry old fashioned, party O'G and a maple glaze. They were all delicious but the raspberry old fashioned was the star yo me... Service was fast kind and cheerful. Not much sitting room so more of a grab and go place. Would definitely recommend and return!

I woke up extra early before work just to try Blue Star Donuts, and I was so excited. The employee was super nice (which makes me feel bad writing this), and the donuts look amazing--10/10 on appearance, plus a solid flavor variety. In theory, everything should've been great. First red flag? No prices listed. I assumed like $3... nope, almost $6 for a single donut. But the worst part? Easily one of the worst donuts I've ever had. I got the rosemary bergamot, expecting something delicate and flavorful, but all I got was heavy, oily dough and a glaze that tasted like straight-up sugar. No rosemary, no bergamot--just sugar water dumped on top.

Amazing donut , great flavor . Would come back to Portland just for this donut. Also saw this in airport

So we arrived via lime scooter from our hotel about a 15min walk away. We wanted to scope out the neighborhood and it's definitely all walkable and safe. We walked in and only had one other person in front of us. The service was great and we were offered donut hole samples (maple, strawberry shortcake, and Orange creamsicle), our actual donuts that we purchased were the lemon/lime curd covered in powdered sugar and his was the blueberry bourbon basil, and for our drinks --a nitro cold brew with oat milk and his was a hot coffee with lavender cream (special flavor addition for the summer). For someone who is used to California Cambodian made donuts , I thought these were a good compromise (and better than say, Dunkin) I like my donuts fresh like out of the fryer but we didn't get here early enough for that. The interior is simple and clean and love the phrase of 'Donuts for Grown-ups' Will come back tomorrow for another pick me up to kick off our morning.

Stopped by Blue Star donuts and tried an array of delectable selections. My selections were the strawberry glazed cake, chocolate glazed cake and orange olive oil cake donut. The donut cake was dense and favorable. I would describe the cake flavor with a strong vanilla flavor with the actually flavors taking more of a background. This was fine for me because I favor vanilla. All the options that I selected were fresh and the flavors were all on point. Also I'll note that donut sizes were huge. This is a great bonus. All great attributes of a thriving business. Do stop by if you're in the area.

Fun donut flavors and a peaceful location in south waterfront. Perfect for a quick snack!

This location is in a really hotspot and a quiet area on South waterfront and I love walking this area all the way to MacAdam Bay past there to sell wood so if you want to grab a quick coffee and a doughnut and eat this on your walk will be burning calories will also taken in some delicious donuts, but these go great with coffee as well. Each donut is heavy by weight and with flavor is so delicious. One of the best donut shops in Portland locally. And there's a few others that are great too and if you know you know.

The lemon poppyseed old fashioned donut is the BEST donut I've had in my entire life. Nothing compares. This is my must have when in Portland.

I ordered 3 doughnuts. Pumpkin crème brûlée, apple fritter and chocolate old fashioned glazed.

Let's talk about fancy doughnuts; shall we? If you come here don't expect your friendly neighborhood doughnut shop (although the employees are friendly!). Also, don't expect some crazy frosted, decorated, with cereal hanging off of it etc. No, these are not your grandma's doughnuts. These doughnuts are like fancy cakes with a hole in them. They are fried and they taste like a doughnut with complex flavors and...well...sometimes booze. I just moved down the street and was starving. This was the first open place I saw on google maps. So, I ordered pickup. I was simply shocked by the flavors and the actual visual appeal of these. I had their hot drip coffee which was good for drip. I like mine a bit stronger but no complaints. They are a bit more expensive then some other places but are well worth it. The people there are nice too! Oh and yea, you can bring in your dog. They seem to love dogs, there.

The donuts were okay! They didn't blow me away, but cool they had seasonal flavors. I had a keylime pie donut which was coated in powdered sugar. The filling was so good, I don't think it needed the powdered sugar at all. Ordered: Lemon and Key Lime Pie, Brandy Apple Crumble, Gingerbread

    Blueberry, Passionfruit, Glazed

I so miss Blue Star; they simply have the best donuts, and out here in Texas things might be bigger, but they're not better. You don't get the luscious, quality, balanced flavor and texture of Blue Star and their unique powerful flavors but not overpowering or cloyingly sweet of frosting or excess sugar as a novelty. Their consistency is apparent at any and all of their locations, same great taste, even after years of not having them. They just need to expand and show the rest of the country what they're missing!

They're known for creative flavors, but creative does not mean it tastes good. The famous Blueberry Bourbon Basil donut was so doughy and cakey (hard type), blueberry jam was too sweet and completely overpowered the subtle taste of bourbon and basil. The apple fritter was the same, just sweet, doughy, and nothing special. We also tried the Cointreau Crème Brûlée, it is a custard donut comes with an orange liqueur pipette. Because the blueberry donut completely lack of bourbon taste, we actually used that pipette to squeeze the liqueur into the blueberry donut. We had the coffee, they're just average, nothing special. Walking in less than an hour before closing, we were surprised to see most of the items still in stock! We ended up picking four things to try: Vanilla Bean Kouign Amann ($7) - This pasty has a sweet yet salty exterior that's complementary in flavor rather than clashing. It's accentuated with a crunchy glazed and caramelized sugar layer that's on the sweeter side. The interior is interesting. There's a cavernous gap right in the center that's filled with a sickly sweet melted sugar syrup. It's unpleasantly sweet and very cloying. The puffed and filled area is large enough that it compresses the other layers so the kouign amann is dense. I've never had a kouign amann quite this sweet before. (3/5) Meyer Lemon Olive Oil Cake with Thyme ($5.50) - This cake is so moist and rich, thick and dense, fatty and rich, that it feels like I"m eating a slab of butter. I'm sure it has just as many calories too! It's quite sweet, although not nearly to the level of the kouign amann. Overall, it's just a really rich and decadent cake. (4/5) Blueberry + Vanilla Cream Brioche Donut w/ Earl Grey ($6) - The top of the pastry is dressed with a cream that has an unmistakably strong bergomot earl grey taste. I wish there was way more cream - there's essentially only a dab on top! The rest of the donut is filled with a custardy light blueberry and vanilla jam. It's not too sweet and has an excellent high quality blueberry fragrance, creating an exceptionally strong blueberry taste. The jam is not too thick and is somewhat syrupy from sugar. The donut itself is really soft and extremely airy. It's the fluffiest donut I've eaten in a long time. (5/5) Raspberry Rose Cruffin ($8.50) - This pastry has some fun dehydrated raspberries sprinkled right on top of a light and fluffy cream that's not too sweet. The cruffin base is buttery in taste and great lamination even when filled with the custard and rose/raspberry cream. This is a heavy cruffin that's very filling.
