Apple Cider Fritter and OG donut boxed to go
    Claire W.

Tried my first blue star donut and fell in love with it. I just expected a good regular donut and I got a new taste experience. The OG with a horchata glaze on the brioche donut is incredible and hard to describe, but yummy covers it. The apple fritter is also tasty with a classic apple fritter flavor (the coriander is well balanced in it). I definitely will stop for more Blue Star visits in the future. The OG may become a travel ritual for me.

Love this place in Portland. Also now thrilled they have Kiosk at PDX Airport. It is a mandatory stop on every visit when flying through now. They are very high priced so just be aware of that. Yet, the quality and taste is all top shelf. The Buttermilk and the Creme Brulee are a must have every time for me. As well as the boxed Maple Glazed Holes. Everyone makes a ruckuss over Voo Doo Donuts. They are cute and quirky but heavily sweet and questionable ingredients. Blue Star blows Voo Doo out of the water in my opinion for quality and taste. They don't depend on quirky designs to gain an audience following. They instead just deliver high quality, good tasting donuts for their patrons. This is what I prefer over gimmicks.

This place is great. You can go right off the airplane to the store in the airport. They have lots of fancy ones but I stuck with the basics and loved it. The OG and buttermilk.

I'm not gonna start the age old argument of who has the better donut but this lemon poppyseed donut was phenomenal. Was excited to see a blue star in the airport. Definitely have been in many of arguments with who's better. But I will say to me it's not necessarily even about the product. It's about the staffing service that serve it to you in the staff that they had this morning. We're fantastic. Place was extremely clean and well kept. Was happy to go and would definitely be happy to go back

The options, Tue 2025-12-23. I enjoyed the Apple Fritter the most (4.5 stars). Orange Blossom, Brown Butter Espresso, OG - all 4 stars.

After a flight cancellation, we unexpectedly ended up in PDX for a layover but the ONE silver lining was learning that there is Blue Star in the airport! It's been about 10 years and at that time they didn't have an airport location, so man were were stoked. It was about 6pm on a Tuesday and it was donut happy hour - buy one get one 50% off! Still, 4 donuts and a black coffee cost about $24 total. There was no wait. * Apple Fritter - 4.5 stars. Love the apple chunks. * Orange Blossom n Berry ($6) - 4 stars. Berry was quite tart. * Brown Butter Espresso Brulée ($6) - 4 stars. Filling was less creamy than I expected. * The OG ($4.95) - 4 stars. Kids enjoyed this!

Overrated. $5 per donut isn't worth it when it's no different from what you get at a Krispy Kreme or Dunkin. We tried two - the maple and OG. I think I tasted the horchata flavor in just one bite, and even that was overpowered by the sweetness. Meh.

A Portland staple, I'm so glad they had a location at the airport! There wasn't much of a line Sunday morning when we went and everyone working was nice. I also loved the bright, neon colored sign! I decided to try the toasted s'mores old fashioned doughnut. It was great, everything I wanted and needed from a doughnut! Definitely check out Blue Star doughnuts while visiting Portland!

Blue Star Donuts was on my list of places to visit while in Portland. I was happy I didn't have to go far since it was located in the airport after I got off of my plane. It also happened to be donut happy hour so we got a discount! Staff was super friendly in recommended me two different flavors! I liked the blueberry basil one better but my hubby liked the chocolate. Both had unique flavor profiles!

In the Delta (D section) of the Portland airport sits this fantastic donut stand. Having some wait time and spying no customers in line, I determined it was a sign from above that I ought to get donuts and coffee. The smiling young woman at the counter took my order for two donuts (Cherry Berry Cheesecake and Buttermilk Old Fashioned) and an iced mocha. The donuts were quickly boxed and she finished my mocha in a couple minutes. The mocha was strong, chocolately and gave me borderline jitters. The Cherry Berry Cheesecake donut had a cherry and raspberry cream cheese filling and a cherry brandy glaze. It also had some fruit crispies and white chocolate pearls on top, neither of which added flavor but made it visually appealing. The filling was okay...kind of weird actually...I think I liked it? The donut itself was quite good. The Buttermilk Old Fashioned was fantastic. I could eat one every day. It was made with horchata, cinnamon, and vanilla with a buttermilk cake. It had a vivid horchata flavor. Superb! Some reviews mention their donuts were oily but mine definitely were not. Both of my donuts were fresh and satisfying. Excellent treats to enjoy before my flight.

    Matcha and matcha crunch donut
    Maggie W.

Came here during an unexpected layover in Portland. Can I just say that with the renovations the Portland airport looks amazing? Following the renovations, it seems like the donuts are made on site -- which adds much freshness to the donuts. Was recommended to get the old fashioned donuts from here by friends/family who passed through this area frequently. They were out of the regular ones, but I got the raspberry and chocolate to bring home (to the family member who made the initial recommendation). I got a matcha crunch donut for myself as well as a matcha. The donut was wonderfully flavored: the matcha frosting on top packs the matcha flavor in without being overwhelming, the almonds add a nice crunch, and the underlying donut is the perfect cake donut texture. The matcha I got without any sweetener, and I thought it was pretty decent! Not the best matcha I've had, but certainly better than I would expect from a donut shop! Service was very nice and friendly! Definitely stopping by again if I ever pass through the Portland airport or Portland area

The new airport mesmerized me so much that I had to get some donuts to calm myself down . I picked a classic Boston cream and it didn't disappoint. Sugary soft goodness-just what Bluestar is known for. Good service and exorbitant price...ahh good times !

Well, their mission statement reads they "wish for all our cares to melt away." What actually melted away was this greasy donut when placed in my carry-on bag. Thank goodness I noticed the grease soaked paper bag before slipping it in. I happened to have a small ziploc with me, which saved the contents of my bag. When I brought the donut out in mid-flight, the paper bag had completely soaked through, creating a puddle of oil in the bottom of the ziploc. I kid you not. Completely inedible. I'm attaching a photo of my partner's donut, also grease soaked. Notice the corona of oil deep into the cake. The mouth feel of that donut was indescribable and just to be clear, not in a good way. Though the lowly grocery store donuts do not have the interesting flavor combinations offered at Blue Star, they have one important advantage. They're edible.

    Greasy and nasty.
    Cynthia J.

Ordered the buttermilk old fashioned. Worst donut I have ever had in my life. It was a total grease bomb! Rather than being soft and cake like, this thing had a crunch of fried bread the first 1/2 inch on each side. It was dripping in grease. Not sure what happened- but it was absolutely disgusting.

Walking in less than an hour before closing, we were surprised to see most of the items still in stock! We ended up picking four things to try: Vanilla Bean Kouign Amann ($7) - This pasty has a sweet yet salty exterior that's complementary in flavor rather than clashing. It's accentuated with a crunchy glazed and caramelized sugar layer that's on the sweeter side. The interior is interesting. There's a cavernous gap right in the center that's filled with a sickly sweet melted sugar syrup. It's unpleasantly sweet and very cloying. The puffed and filled area is large enough that it compresses the other layers so the kouign amann is dense. I've never had a kouign amann quite this sweet before. (3/5) Meyer Lemon Olive Oil Cake with Thyme ($5.50) - This cake is so moist and rich, thick and dense, fatty and rich, that it feels like I"m eating a slab of butter. I'm sure it has just as many calories too! It's quite sweet, although not nearly to the level of the kouign amann. Overall, it's just a really rich and decadent cake. (4/5) Blueberry + Vanilla Cream Brioche Donut w/ Earl Grey ($6) - The top of the pastry is dressed with a cream that has an unmistakably strong bergomot earl grey taste. I wish there was way more cream - there's essentially only a dab on top! The rest of the donut is filled with a custardy light blueberry and vanilla jam. It's not too sweet and has an excellent high quality blueberry fragrance, creating an exceptionally strong blueberry taste. The jam is not too thick and is somewhat syrupy from sugar. The donut itself is really soft and extremely airy. It's the fluffiest donut I've eaten in a long time. (5/5) Raspberry Rose Cruffin ($8.50) - This pastry has some fun dehydrated raspberries sprinkled right on top of a light and fluffy cream that's not too sweet. The cruffin base is buttery in taste and great lamination even when filled with the custard and rose/raspberry cream. This is a heavy cruffin that's very filling. My mouth is watering describing this now, a true sign I'll be returning to experience this delicacy time and time again. There are three locations of Twisted Croissant in Portland, and this is the only one I've visited. The interior has a classic Parisian bakery vibe, clad in white subway tile from floor to ceiling. The bakery case in front of the store is beautifully stocked with fresh pastries, perfect for enjoying with a cup of coffee or tea. However, be advised, there are only two tables in the back of their public space, so it's not particularly inviting space to sit and enjoy your breakfast. Given the location, I assume there is outdoor seating in the summer months, but don't quote me on that. Regardless, run here if you haven't been. These baked goods are worth the visit!

As a gluten-free girlie when you're craving donuts, you have to be ready to go on an adventure and…read moreto go on an adventure the prize has to be worth it. Let me tell you these are so worth it! I will start by saying these are not like a standard fluffy donut. Mochi style donuts are more like a thick old fashioned donut in the best way possible. Be ready to be full after one, or two. I love the variety of types of toppings and got half a dozen to try a few. Also loved seeing they fill the donuts to order, so less chance of a soggy center. Note: I had no soggy centers and it took 3 days to eat them all. Of them all, the horchata pudding was my favorite. The warm and creamy flavor worked so well with it. I will say the frosting and fillings were great alone but I wasn't huge on the brighter flavors (key lime, watermelonade) with the donut. Either way, I took care of my donut craving, got to see a different area of the city, and had a sugar rush for a few days.

Cute little spot! Gotta love the gluten-free, dairy-free and nut-free! All the flavors sounded…read moreamazing so we got the flight... Strawberry yuzu funfetti - anything with rainbow sprinkles is kiddo approved but this one is adult approved too! A little on the sweet side with the sprinkles in the donut too, but super fun! 5 stars Chocolate sunbutter - nice alternative to nut butters and mild chocolate flavor. Good chocolate donut all around. 5 stars Pool Boi - loved the creativity with the little gummy bear in the sour gummy ring and the blue raspberry flavor was on point! 5 stars. Passionfruit curd - fantastic tart curd with a classic mochi donut. Yum. 5 stars. Key lime pie - perfect tartness that worked well with the sweetness of everything. 5 stars. Cocoa pebbles - excellent chocolate donut! Could had used more cocoa pebbles. They need to have more chocolate specials! 5 stars. Horchata pudding - lovely cinnamony donut with a tasty horchata pudding. 5 stars. Ube - I wish the Ube flavor was in the donut too. Perhaps the Ube flavor could had been stronger in the glaze? 4.5 stars. Orange cardamom - subtle cardamom flavor but overall tasty donut. Not especially noteworthy flavor. 4.5 stars. Black sesame and jam - I usually love black sesame, but the combination with the jam was not my favorite. It's probably personal preference, but next time I'm going to ask for it without it. 4.5 stars. Strawberries and cream - compared to the strawberry yuzu, this one was a little underwhelming. Adding fresh strawberries with the cream would had been the way to go. 4.5 stars. Guava cheesecake - the Guava flavor was overpowered by the graham cracker flavor on this one. I think a straight Guava one would be amazing. 4 stars. Compared to pon de ring and more traditional mochi donuts, these had more donut characteristics and were much sweeter and less chewy. So glad we discovered this place!
