Coco Donuts you haven't disappointed. Even though I'm more of a classic glaze gal, I can appreciate the nice selection of donuts, holes, croissants, mochi donuts and sesame balls (on weekends). To me, the donuts here are a lil bigger and fluffier than KK. It makes for a nice ratio of donut to toppings. Anyhoots, the staff is always friendly, place spic and span with pleasing aesthetics. Stopped by this morning to pick up half dozen donuts for the family. Store is nice and clean, take out only. Selection is good, nothing "cute", but all the standards including nice old fashioned type. Prices are a little high - half dozen was pretty expensive, but quality is worth it. I had a fritter. While I love their mochi donuts, I'm really in it for the coffee! They small-batch roast their own coffee, selling their beans right there. And they have the first cold brew I've ever loved. Best of all, they told me that the cold brew I particularly loved was El Volcano, so now I buy the beans (and pick up an already-made cold brew), and I love being able to do that. I came in once, and the person behind the counter recognized me from our coffee chat, and they gave me a sample of a new coffee. It was not only a good taste, I felt pretty darn special. The mochi donuts were delicious. The lavender icing too sweet for me so I preferred the cinnamon and sugar one.

If you're having a bad day, you still need to maintain common decency. The worker did not engage in any type of conversation, besides taking my order, even when I asked her how her day was. At least say something, bc I almost second guessed myself if the shop was even open to taking orders while waiting for her to finish other orders (it's not even busy). Extremely disappointed with these donuts. I picked this as it was close to our AirBnB and had great reviews. Selection was slim, premium donuts had not yet arrived so they don't make them in house? I bought 7 donuts, $22. What the hey. They were all sugar no balance between dough and icing/filling. I got a Bavarian Crème and ate half of it and still had not reached the crème filling. Three hungry kids and they struggled with eating these. I don't know maybe this is a regional thing and these are how the donuts are done in Portland.... If so, they need to branch out cause these are overpriced for what you get - a tummy ache. read more

I am in love with their mochi donuts. I would say since these are speciality items, the price is just right. You're not gonna pay a dollar a donut here etc. We were headed to the cemetery and have a tradition of donutd and cemetary so we were not able to sit inside and eat. But there was plenty of seating and the employees were very nice. I would def come here again. read more

I can't believe I forgot to review this one earlier! I'm trying to explore all the donuts of Portland and this one has been by far the best! We actually came here because of the TooGoodToGo App and was so glad I was able to try a dozen variety donuts for cheap! Despite being end of the day, the entire dozen was all very delicious. This was my first time trying mochi donuts too, which are a bit denser than normal donuts in a good way. This will be the place for when I'm craving donuts in Portland! read more

It seemed fitting to write this review on National Donut Day! Great spot to get work done because of the seating, table, outlets, and after 2pm it's super nice to get a coffee and donut for only $2! They're simple but delicious. The donuts are prepared fresh and they are conveniently located on the corner of a not-so-busy area. Ideal place for studying or bringing a book to read in. Donut- very good they have varieties of mochi donuts. Ube is my favorite here but pandan is something new that i doscover another must have too. Price- affordable and reasonable Customer service- excellent We've been to this branch few times. My first time here they gave me a free taste of mochi donut if i remember that was mango flavor..so good.. Every time we come and visit Portland I always order a dozen of assorted mochi donut. The last time I came i ordered 3 pandan unglazed and 3 with glaze. The person who took my order made a mistake. They weren't able to make the one without the glaze but they gave me extra 6 pcs for free. My goodness and added to 2 ube mochi balls that was so yumm and 2 plain with sugar. I would give them above and beyond excellent customer service. 5 stars easily for the quality of donuts yet 2 stars or even less for the lack of service the past few visits. Usually on Sundays I will stop by before I volunteer to pick up a few donuts and espresso drink. Lately the service has been numb and very cold. When I first started going, I would receive a complimentary donut hole with purchase of espresso drink. It's a nice little bonus I think. Lately and I mean the last 4-5 visits, they don't bother to give one or put a kid on the drink like they used to. They have plenty of workers yet they look bored and not happy to work. The last visit, like other reviews, there were a ton of workers yet barely any selection. I was not given a donut hole although it's clearly advertised. I don't ask since I feel like an idiot since the sign clearly states it on the counter. Why the refusal? I do not know. This pink donut establishment isn't hard to find as it stands out on Milwaukie Ave. I came in just after noon and they only had one tray left of donuts. They luckily had a lavender glazed donut which tasted just like a regular glazed donut, pretty mild on the lavender. Coco donuts are light and fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness. The only caveat is that you have to come in early. Not sure why they're open past noon if they don't make enough. Anyway, worth the stop, just make sure you stop in early, or you will be disappointed. read more

I really wanted to love this doughnut shop. It's close enough to my house to visit from time to time, without being dangerously close (if you know what I mean). But like a lot of the other reviewers here, when I arrived several hours before closing) ALL of the doughnuts I wanted to try were sold out. I ended up choosing a few others, as did my husband, and we shared them all so we could get a well-rounded sample to try. I'm sorry, but there wasn't one "stand out" doughnut for me. The apple fritter was practically tasteless. (I felt like the old Wendy's commercial, only I was asking "Where's the apples?!") Same with the Cinnamon Roll... it definitely needed more cinnamon. The Glazed Old Fashioned didn't have the texture I'm used to. And the others, well, just didn't live up to my expectations. All of them were lacking flavor and were... I'm not sure? Greasy, maybe? Just not good. However, we had very good customer service at this location. The woman behind the counter was apologetic about most doughnuts being sold out so early, and she was helpful and sweet in finding other options. And the location is so cute! So, there's that?! Without question, hands down, no contest, the best donuts in Portland. (The world? Yes from my limited worldwide donut tastings.) Throw in the locally roasted and brewed coffee and this place is untouchable for coffee and donuts. Just what Portland amd the SE needed a little morning donut stop. What do. They get right? Right away open at 6 am. I dont know why bakeries and coffee shops dont get this. By 7 and 8. We are already at work. A super clean friendly welcoming atmosphere. Not packed yet with the writers and web bloggers of the world. You can actually find a seat. I am sure people will find them to set up their office there eventually but for now its welcoming customers. They offer great coffee drinks. You need caffeine with your sugar. I know people use some brand names as their yardmark for coffee. This place just has good coffee. They may need additional machines as they grow a line can form quickly if a couple fancy espresso drinks are ordered. Not a big deal. Love to see small business be successful. I went in the morning and in the afternoon a couple times. The donuts are always fresh and a full selection is usually still available in the afternoon. I even found some deals as they get closer to closing. Think we dont want to throw out inventory. Nothing too fancy here mostly your standard good variety. Sorry no vodoo imposter here and for me thank goodness. I dont really need fruit loops on my donut. Great place great friendly service. Loses a star for hard to find parking. Customer service has been less than ideal for a customer service job. Maybe the early hours arent for everyone? I love Coco's because they're not just cake donuts. The place has great yeast donuts which include an amazing lavender donut. I'm normally not a huge fan when lavender is in my food- except when it's coco's donuts. You HAVE to try the lavender donuts- they're sweet and amazing. The place is also a cool contemporary design and I'd love to sit there and sip some coffee most mornings if I could. I highly recommend this place! read more

This review is for service, NOT donut. Crucial point: I'm not white. OK? This is important. I'd just picked up my 10-y-o from Trackers and had the 12-y-o and a friend with me. We stepped into Coco Donuts - the place was empty, as was most of the case (it was near closing). The kids filed in, were ready to order, I was last in and waited to hold the door open for a woman with a toddler. I stepped to the counter, made eye contact with the counter person, and held up 4 fingers, pointing at the donuts of choice. But! No! Surprise, it's not donut happy hour, it's Peak White Privilege Hour. This woman with toddler - this super White Portland woman - cuts us off -- four people, four humans. We are invisible. We are not even THERE to her. Walks in front of us all, puts in her order, talking loudly to counter person. OK, rude, but no big, right? One would expect any counterperson to smile, say "Actually, I'm helping them," right? We're right there. Been standing there. And I've placed my order. But apparently I'm invisible to the fine staff of Coco Donuts, too. Three kids and me are invisible. My daughter turns to me hurt and angry and whispers "Whaaat?" The white ladies chat. And chat and chat and giggle and bond. I'm fuming, I'm so mad I want to break something. I should have just left. But kids, donuts ... and I want a coffee ... so we wait, kids writhing in impatience, listening to this stupid fucking chatter that feels pointed. "You just wait while we have a heart to heart, maybe you should leave, do you even speak English, Coco Donuts might not be quite *right* for *your* kind of family." That is exactly how it felt. And when finally, finally it's my turn? I ask for my donuts. I order my coffee. I rummage in my wallet. And this counter person just stands and watches me. Watches me. You know how, when you've placed an order? For eight fucking dollars? You know how in a normal world, the counter help actually GETS YOUR FOOD? POURS YOUR COFFEE? Well, no. Not at Coco Donuts! Here, you have to pay in advance, your fucking eight bucks, because apparently if you're brown, you might just take that coffee and run. I've waited a couple days to post this because I wanted to cool my jets and see if in retrospect this felt any different. And no, it does not. If you want to whitesplain to me that I don't know racist bs when I experience it - fine, go right ahead. I've developed a necessary intuition over a whole lifetime and I trust myself. I am so pissed off and disgusted. I know perfectly well, if I was wearing a silk blouse and blazer this would not have happened. You'd probably be extra polite and feel all diverse and self-congratulatory. In a dirty T-shirt, though, I don't qualify as a first class citizen. My kid begs me, before we go anywhere, "Please wear work clothes." This experience just drilled that lesson into her even more. The donut was just not enough to counterbalance that. read more

I haven't actually been in a Coco Donuts, but my co-worker brings them to work pretty regularly. These are really good donuts! They're just well done classic types. I usually go for the yeast donuts rather than the cake types, but each one I've had have been really good. Donuts are pretty sweet anyway, of course, but these have more flavor than just the sugar aspect. It's clear they pay attention to how the donuts look, too; they're always placed nicely in the box as well. All I can say is my co-workers are great people, and they have really solid taste in donuts. read more
