Half dozen gems from this morning
    Kurt P.

Stopped by this morning to pick up half dozen donuts for the family. Store is nice and clean, take out only. Selection is good, nothing "cute", but all the standards including nice old fashioned type. Prices are a little high - half dozen was pretty expensive, but quality is worth it. I had a fritter. Perfectly fried, nice bits of apple. All the donuts were nice and crispy on the outside. I would definitely come back for more!

Looks like they worked out the issues during the first year. We love coming here for the new and inventive flavors. The store is super clean and they are running the right protocols for Covid. The staff is always really nice. I love the Apple fritters. The mochi donuts are my favorite in town, I like how chewy they are and I love the addition of the sesame balls.

Half way through a Bavarian crème. No filling yet.

Extremely disappointed with these donuts. I picked this as it was close to our AirBnB and had great reviews. Selection was slim, premium donuts had not yet arrived so they don't make them in house? I bought 7 donuts, $22. What the hey. They were all sugar no balance between dough and icing/filling. I got a Bavarian Crème and ate half of it and still had not reached the crème filling. Three hungry kids and they struggled with eating these. I don't know maybe this is a regional thing and these are how the donuts are done in Portland.... If so, they need to branch out cause these are overpriced for what you get - a tummy ache.

It seemed fitting to write this review on National Donut Day! Great spot to get work done because of the seating, table, outlets, and after 2pm it's super nice to get a coffee and donut for only $2! They're simple but delicious. The donuts are prepared fresh and they are conveniently located on the corner of a not-so-busy area. Ideal place for studying or bringing a book to read in. It's very peaceful and quiet. The staff is super friendly. :)

Happy hour after 2pm For $2, you get a coffee and a donut. Isn't this a fantastic deal for tea time ?

The mochi donuts were delicious. The lavender icing too sweet for me so I preferred the cinnamon and sugar one.

Great service from friendly barista. I ordered the Chocolate Jesus and my kid had the Arabic People's Latte. Both drinks were unique and superbly delicious with cardamom accents. I would have ordered another round but I didn't want to be a jittery maniac for the rest of the day. I'm not a Portland resident, but I do live in the PNW. Tōv will always be my first stop when passing through the Rose City.

I've been here quite a few times and have really enjoyed the Aribic People's latte with its strong cardamon overtones, the Chocolate Jesus and today, the Mucho Calliente, which promises a chili infusion, and cinnamon infused espresso with dark chocolate! But wait..., oh no, I forgot to ask for oat... this is probably (certainly) dairy. Argh! Sorry, I have no Viking blood and can not digest cow milk. I would rather battle the aforementioned Viking before I'd endure the results of ... dairy! So, I brought my drink up fully prepared to pay for another and everyone there, EVERYONE, in almost unison, refused to take my payment. They kindly and quickly made another and... oh... spicy indeed, but chocolatey and balanced! One of the best spicy mochas I've had anywhere ... and I am an absolute Spella snob and proud of it! Inside secret: Don't miss out on the great selection of truly authentic Egyptian foods and pastries, as well as some really nice necklaces and earrings. If you need that piece to pull your whole Nefertiti look together before going out for a Saturday of dancing and fun... this is your hidden gem!

The Experience: I visited Golden Hour with a friend after taking a break from thrifting clothes around the Hawthorne neighborhood. What stood out: Food: I ordered the strawberry matcha latte with oatmilk. The presentation was gorgeous with layers of colors and textures. The drink was a bit sweeter than my usual taste but tasted high quality and refreshing. The crunchy strawberries on top were a yummy surprise. Ambiance: Golden Hour is quite small and sound carries. The workers talking to eachother were fairly loud. If I am in the area in the future, Golden Hour will be on my list to stop at!

I placed my order and the barista let me know about a vegan cold foam alternative. The drink was great and the matcha paired nicely with everything in the drink including pandan, coconut flakes, and vanilla. The interior was clean and there were plenty of places to sit. Lots of people hanging out in the shop, some working, some talking, but it seemed like a good spot to get some stuff done. There was music playing that set a welcoming mood. Overall, highly recommend if you enjoy flavored lattes.

The two-tops are fairly snug together so it can feel like you're eavesdropping or being listened to. There's counter seating along one side which had some refreshing morning sun- when a couple seats opened up there, we moved and were very comfy. There are a couple of cozy chairs in the front window and some additional counter and lounge seating in an adjoining room. The drink quality and presentation were high quality and delicious. The cost of a 12oz latte ($7) with no special milk was higher than other cafes I've been to recently around Portland including places that create their own syrups for specialty drinks of the month. That said, I don't begrudge the cost of a masterfully hand-crafted, drinkable cup of art and that is exactly what I received. I think the cost stuck in my head because the welcome did not feel particularly warm at the register. They were having an animated conversation with the barista and I couldn't help but feel like we were inconveniencing them by saying good morning and trying to order. When we picked up our orders, the barista was warm and friendly. Overall, it's a delightful spot in an equally lovely neighborhood.
