I miss detroit style pizza. No I am not from detroit- and no I am not an expert- (I would live and die by Jets Pizza and thats a chain). Not even sure that's authentic but lets cut to the chase- its about that crust and the burnt cheese on the edges. Pizza umami if you will. Found this place for date night and the first tip is- if its date night, reserve the Rabbit Hole! Unpretentious but cozy and intimate with great service. It's like a speakeasy but no secret codes needed. You get the full menu but diff cocktails. We ordered the Wild Mushroom Dan Dan Noodles- ok shroomami goin on. Didnt expect this on the menu for a pizza place but do yourself a favor and get it! Hug portion for a small plate- zero gripes here!I always order fries if its on a menu- and extra crispy. Nothing unique here other than a big mac type sauce for dipping. The mains: My wife ordered the house-made Spicy Rigatoni without the sausage. This was good, but not spicy at all (unless the spice came from the sausage)? It was like a great pasta you could make at home, comforting, but not sure it was worthy of the cost. But here is what was- the pizza. Our awesome server recommended the tomato pie because it had tastier cheeses. They were not wrong. Flavorful sauce, crispy and fluffy crust and of course that great wall of cheese protecting it from all attacks except mine! Just zoom in on the pic of the pizza and admire its greatness! To finish we had the Sticky Ickey Toffee Cake. Tip: Order one per person, the concept of sharing is likely to cause disputes. This simply melted as we ate it. No eye contact was made during this part of date-night because neither of us could afford to lose ground on this plate if ooey gooey deliciousness! TLDR: Load up on the detroit style pies, double order the dessert. Mushroom Dan Dan is a hit it you want to fill up your table guests early and save more of the rest for you!
Visited this location about 3 times and I love it, they never disappoint. Their main attraction is their deep dish pizza in my opinion, it's amazing. Pricing is fair compared to the size of pie you get, you can share it or just have it personally. They also have other options such as calamari and wings or their specials. Ambiance is casual dressing, street parking is available. You can make reservations through calling or on the open table app/website (I highly suggest). If you visit, make sure to visit their speakeasy which is upstairs from the restaurant. It's Alice and wonderland Themed and the music is great. When I first visited it was fantastic that's when they first opened. I recently visited a few years back and the ambiance did change slightly, I enjoyed it a bit better back then. Overall, this establishment is a great place to grab some casual food and great time!
FRIEND DATE!!!!! He heard this place was a must so we checked it out. It was pretty quiet for a Sunday afternoon which was perfect. The service was great as well. Our server was very attentive. Our drinks were delicious but they definitely did not compare to the food. Based on the name I expected more of a burger and wings vibe but they had an amazing variety of eats. We truly enjoyed every bite. I was excited for my leftovers, which of course heated well and tasted even better. This is a definite recommend!
Finally made it to Blue Steel Pizza and it was worth the trip. The vibe, whether day or night, this place always provides the right ambience with its chic industrial interior - exposed pipes, warm lighting, and trendy music. The service is usually on point and the wait staff and bartenders make you feel welcome. It was a girls night so we ordered a bunch of different dishes but I got the Broccoli Rabe Pizza and wow! The roasted garlic on it was a nice touch and the crust was perfectly crispy but still light and fluffy. And the cast iron sweet plantains was chef's kiss!
My best friend and I wanted to grab some lunch and catch up so we decided to go to blue steel usually great music service and nice atmosphere. Today we ordered the clam casino pizza. Which we really wanted the clam part but the pizza is giving sausage idk what's going on.
We made an early dinner resy for NYE and had a great meal. We all enjoyed our cocktails and food selections...from the rice balls, wings and shoshito peppers to the angry vodka and ricotta/sausage pizza, as well as the chicken parm and meatball and spaghetti dishes. Everything tasted great. We prefer thin crust pizza but this was a nice change and very tasty. The Smores cocktail was tasty too and a great dessert. Service was attentive and friendly! The space felt basic and industrial....
Blue steel was my first time trying Detroit style pizza and it did not disappointment. In my opinion it is fluffier, crispy and not as dense as a Chicago style pizza, it eats like a Sicilian slice, but one that hit the tanning booth. Tuna tartare was very good, citrusy and bonded with some sort of spicy mayo, could've eaten that all night long, really good. Beer selection was okay, nothing to write home about. Kind of a bummer they only had two beers on tap, definitely an area that could use improvement. Would recommend, especially if you never tried Detroit style.
Fantastic spot, only thing stopping me from going more often is how far away this is. Located right in downtown Bloomfield, so parking can be a bit tricky. Your best bet is probably street parking, which is free on Sundays. There is also a nice park/playground nearby afterwards which is worth visiting if the weather is nice. Have only dined in the main dining room, but I hear there's a separate area too. Plenty of the space and you can actually see the oven where they cook the pizzas which is always pretty cool. Almost took off a star for the bathroom, which is tucked away downstairs and is unfortunately rather dirty and quite small... hopefully they improve this. Generally service has been pretty positive in my experience. There was one time when they messed up the order, but they did correct it without making a fuss so I can't complain there. They can be a little slow to come back around when wanting refills for example, but is understandable given how busy it tends to be. As a whole, the menu has quite a few options beyond pizza for those who prefer other items. My wife enjoyed the Dan Dan Noodles, and while they might not be as authentic as what you'll find at Sichuan restaurant, they were actually done rather well with quality noodles and appropriate amount of spice. I've tried a different cocktail every time I've been, usually opting for some form of a mule or margarita and have always enjoyed them. My only wish is they either dropped the price or gave you a little more. Finally the star of the show is the pizza. This is Detroit Style so it will have more breading and will be cut in squares. But the crust is caramelized around the edges perfectly, and they've got the ratio of cheese to sauce down which many other places fall short. I also tried their eggplant pizza, and while I loved the additional toppings and adjustments they added, I was not a fan of the eggplant itself. May just come down to personal preference, but I'd go with the classic over it. Dessert was also on point, had tried the blueberry cobbler as well as a chocolate cake based item which were both fantastic. Seems like they change these up a bit. Overall, absolutely worth a visit if you're in the area. Or be like me and drive far for it!
AMAZING!!! Everything we ordered was delicious. We started with the chopped salad and shishito peppers. They were both very good. But the stars of the show were the sausage & broccoli rabe home made pasta (OMG so delicious) and the Angry vodka pizza, WOW! Seriously so flavorful and right amount of heat.! The service was friendly and the ambiance was upbeat We will be returning
I really enjoyed my dining experience here. I loved the ambiance. There is a good sized bar downstairs, two floors of tables and a speak-easy bar upstairs. I highly recommend getting their pizza. I went with the classic and it was so good, I especially loved the crust! The speak-easy was a fun end to the night, I recommend it for date night!
"BSP" has been around since 2020, but only this past year have I seen them on the top of some "best of" pizza lists, so I wanted to check it out. After seeing their excellently built website where all the pictures ( food & atmosphere) looked great and almost every item on the menu sounded so delish I had to step it up and put together a group of six guys who like to eat & drink. Unfortunate that BSP fell far short of my expectations and I had to "round up" to just give it 3 Stars. Mind you other than a cheerful waitress the only really great thing here is the ( Detroit style) pizza. Detroit style can best be described as a small-ish deep dish Sicilian pie that uses brick cheese amongst other cheeses. The GREAT....the 3 pies we had were amazing. Most of us never had Detroit style and I've been thinking about it ever since. --Pepperoni pizza ( off the red list) made with shredded mozzarella | brick cheese | ezzo pepperoni was so good. --Ricotta & Sausage pizza ( off the vodka list) with shredded mozzarella | brick cheese | ground sausage | whipped ricotta | spicy cherry pepper relish was also a home run...a bit spicy but amazing. --White pizza ( off the white list) with shredded Mozzarella | brick cheese | chorizo | Queso Fresco | Roasted Garlic | peppadew peppers| Jalapeño on top. Each of us had a slice of each pizza and thoroughly enjoyed them,. THE OK....apps! --Crispy Cola Wings served with Coca Cola BBQ | Toasted Onion | Pink Peppercorns sounded a lot better than it was. The wings were on the smallish side and it seemed we had mostly the "little wing" part and not many " drumsticks. It was just OK to the extent some were left behind. --Cacio e Pepe Arancini ( rice balls) with parmesan cheese | black pepper | summer corn | tomato hollandaise sauce| chili thread; This was basically a dish of 4 small sized rice balls commonly found in vodka sauce everywhere else. Attention Foodies: it seems "Cacio e Pepe" is going to be the "new" word of the season in the restaurant world. I've been seeing it more and more. Cacio e Pepe translates to cheese & (black) pepper which is found in a ton of Italian dishes. So how does it make a rice ball a special one? It doesn't! THE BAD..... What type of bar (mid-week no less) is out of Patron tequila and Sapphire gin? Two of the biggest call ( top, common) brands out there today. Shocked! Maybe one but two? We were told to use the QR code to get the cocktail, wine, beer menu. I was trying to help a friend choose a beer similar to his tastes and noticed the QR menu ( website too) only listed 3 draft beers, yet there were 11 taps. Hmmmm. So I asked the bartender why and he replied, "What do you want from me, I only work here" as he walked away. :( Are you kidding me? So maybe 8 taps were dry or maybe he was too lazy to recite them. You could tell this bartender had either a little too much confidence ( ?arrogance?) as he worked the bar. ( Umm, this isn't a bar in Manhattan, it's Bloomfield NJ, get a grip). ( fyi- I used to bar tend & have the upmost respect for the craft; love my bartenders scattered around NJ in my usual haunts) But since I am on a (rare) rant. The choices of wine by the glass were "meh" at best and it totally lacked a wine by the bottle list which is crazy for an Italian restaurant. Pictures of the dining room on website are simple, urban, and enticing. In real life, a little worn out. Maybe its time to add more pictures...something, anything ! Lastly, I've seen better men's bathrooms at a bus station. Please, a little effort. It has to be leftover from the last restaurant or business there. Sooooo.......... Pizza Great! Thank you for introducing me to Detroit style!!! But everything else...not. BSP is good for a few pies and a few beers....don't expect anything more. (and all of this is not just IMO, there were 5 others with me who felt the same way)
Honestly, I was highly disappointed by the service and the food. The chicken wings taste like they were previously frozen. They had a bit of a aftertaste of freezer burn. ..the pizza while saucy it just take very basic. The meatballs had too much sauce on them more sauce than meatballs, and the service was very slow and somewhat pedestrian. Probably should get older more seasoned hostesses, people at the front desk and bartenders everything seemed very amateur - Especially for the PRICE! I previously had been here (numerous times over the last 3 yrs) and I've a dip in the upscale service it used to be.The prices are astronomical I get it, but I probably won't be back. After coming here for the last 3 years- with numerous parties. I can find better, for cheaper, with a vibe.
Came here recently for a date and was pleasantly surprised. The front entrance doesn't give the inside any justice. The ambiance was modern and sultry. There is a brick oven in the middle however which is a reminder of the fact that Blue Steel is known for being a Pizzeria. There is music playing but not too loud that you have to put bass in your voice. We were on time with our reservation and were greeted with a smile. We started with drinks and ordered the Hi-Tea and I ordered the Sunset Durango. Both drinks were amazing. I wanted something sweet and strong, and the Sunset Durango did just that. I tried his Hi-Tea and it was on the sweeter side, but it was refreshing. Now onto the best part, the food. He ordered the Supreme pizza and I ordered the Spicy Rigatoni. The wait time for the food wasn't that long, but even if it took long....it was worth the wait! The Rigatoni was amazing. I have no complaints, besides the portion. The portion could've been a little more. I really took my time eating it, because I didn't want to finish it so quickly. I tried the pizza, and I almost fainted. It was delicious. The sauce, the crust, I am writing this wanting to run across the bridge and get this. In all, I highly Blue Steel for a casual date night, family dinner, or even a solo date. The service, food, and drinks were everything! If I'm in the area, I will be back!!!

There is no shortage of pizza, as they have anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 pizza restaurants using their family recipe to make some of the best pizzas in America. As the third-largest producer of tomatoes in the entire country, this key pizza-making ingredient not only sets New Jersey's classic 'tomato pies' apart from any ordinary pizza. This 10,000-square-foot, two-story establishment with a neon-lit sign on Glenwood Ave in Bloomfield asks, "Just another pizzeria?" They also house a 20-seat speakeasy that's open Thursday through Saturday called the Rab.bit Hole that can be found upstairs behind a hidden entrance. Opened in 2020, Blue Steel Pizza Company is the answer and should become obvious after looking at the menu. A reservation was easily made via Resy. My partner and I were greeted at the host station and got a regular table in the 1st-floor dining room by the pizza oven in the middle. The vibe was modern and industrial. Patrons had to use their phone flashlights to read the menu as the lighting was pretty dim. They are known for their Detroit-style pizza--a pie baked in a rectangular, traditionally blue-steel pan, the kind once used by autoworkers. It's made with a blend of mozzarella cheese and traditional Wisconsin brick cheese that melts down the side of the pie, making for a burnt, gooey, cheesy crust. It's cold-fermented for three days and is closer to sourdough. It has real flavor and an airier texture. It's like a lighter version of a Sicilian with a buttery crust. As a starter, we decided on the Chopped Salad. For our main entrée, we opted for the Jersey Tomato Pizza Pie. Portions run big enough for sharing, and we downed them with the 1911 Cider. The pizza crust was light, airy, and crispy with the right amount of fresh ingredients, making the ensemble tastefully delicious. The staff was attentive, friendly, and accommodating, and our server was Adam. The price was comparable to the area. We had a wonderful experience and would recommend this place. read more
We couldn't find parking in Montclair so we just decided to keep our eyes peeled on the way home from an event. And, voila! We spotted Blue Steel which had good, modern curb appeal to our hungry tummies. It looks like downtown Bloomfield is having a moment with some new condos and nicer restaurants coming in. Thanks, gentrification!? Inside has a clubby, bar vibe and we were seated at a hightop near the bar. I love a good wedge salad. I prefer the classic but I appreciate BSP's variation that has tomato, cucumbers, crispy frizzled onions, feta cheese, homemade ranch dressing, and everything sprinkle seasoning. It was generously sized and refreshing. And there's nothing but good things to say about the Detroit-style ezzo pepperoni pie, except that i wish I had a bigger stomach to eat MORE. After the salad (shared), I was only able to manage one slice, but it was a happy slice. My first time trying Detroit-style and it didn't disappoint. PS: There's a tiny, very lumpy and bumpy parking lot in the back that is very tricky to maneuver back out of. I was disappointed upon my second visit. The server was nice and attentive, he came by a bit too many times however and interrupted our conversation which became a bit frustrating. We were told he is new so it seems he may have tried to overcompensate a bit for being new, which was not necessary since we did a good job otherwise and was friendly. We liked him so this was not the reason for the loss of stars. Wings were good and so was the dessert. My margarita was not good, it had an overwhelming taste of margarita mix syrup. The two individuals I met had ordered the same drink before and the color of their drinks were not as green/dark as mine. They liked their drinks so I ordered hoping for the same result. This was not the case. Also, I had not finished my drink, but the three individuals I was with ordered lychee martinis and when I went to order one for myself I was told they "ran out". Which seemed more so that the bartender did not want to make the drink. This was a bummer. My main dish was bland and the meatball appetizer was not what I experienced, referencing the first time we visited. So I asked the bartender why and he replied, "What do you want from me, I only work here" as he walked away. :( Are you kidding me? So maybe 8 taps were dry or maybe he was too lazy to recite them. You could tell this bartender had either a little too much confidence ( ?arrogance?) as he worked the bar. ( Umm, this isn't a bar in Manhattan, it's Bloomfield NJ, get a grip). ( fyi- I used to bar tend & have the upmost respect for the craft; love my bartenders scattered around NJ in my usual haunts) But since I am on a (rare) rant. The choices of wine by the glass were "meh" at best and it totally lacked a wine by the bottle list which is crazy for an Italian restaurant. Pictures of the dining room on website are simple, urban, and enticing. In real life, a little worn out. Maybe its time to add more pictures...something, anything ! Lastly, I've seen better men's bathrooms at a bus station. Please, a little effort. It has to be leftover from the last restaurant or business there. Sooooo.......... Pizza Great! Honestly, I was highly disappointed by the service and the food. The chicken wings taste like they were previously frozen. They had a bit of a aftertaste of freezer burn. ..the pizza while saucy it just take very basic. The meatballs had too much sauce on them more sauce than meatballs, and the service was very slow and somewhat pedestrian. Probably should get older more seasoned hostesses, people at the front desk and bartenders everything seemed very amateur - Especially for the PRICE! I previously had been here (numerous times over the last 3 yrs) and I've a dip in the upscale service it used to be.The prices are astronomical I get it, but I probably won't be back. After coming here for the last 3 years- with numerous parties. I can find better, for cheaper, with a vibe. read more
Came here recently for a date and was pleasantly surprised. The front entrance doesn't give the inside any justice. The ambiance was modern and sultry. There is a brick oven in the middle however which is a reminder of the fact that Blue Steel is known for being a Pizzeria. There is music playing but not too loud that you have to put bass in your voice. We were on time with our reservation and were greeted with a smile. We started with drinks and ordered the Hi-Tea and I ordered the Sunset Durango. Both drinks were amazing. I wanted something sweet and strong, and the Sunset Durango did just that. I tried his Hi-Tea and it was on the sweeter side, but it was refreshing. Now onto the best part, the food. He ordered the Supreme pizza and I ordered the Spicy Rigatoni. The wait time for the food wasn't that long, but even if it took long....it was worth the wait! The Rigatoni was amazing. I have no complaints, besides the portion. The portion could've been a little more. I really took my time eating it, because I didn't want to finish it so quickly. I tried the pizza, and I almost fainted. It was delicious. The sauce, the crust, I am writing this wanting to run across the bridge and get this. In all, I highly Blue Steel for a casual date night, family dinner, or even a solo date. Came here for their speakeasy but was disappointed when there was no seating available and an extended wait. However, we sat at the bar that had similar cocktails from upstairs. The cocktails and service were great. We ordered a cheese pie as well but I wasn't thrilled with the style (deep dish). However, the pizza overall was flavorful but a little burned. Delicious, creative, and fun. The space is so fun. It has a fabulous cocktail list - and we didn't even visit the Rabbit Room, where elevated cocktails are served on certain nights. The portions are pretty healthy, so sharing is encouraged. We're glad to have leftovers at home. read more
We stopped here as part of a food/pizza tour that was hosted by Bloomfield center. The owners were very nice and accommodating to our group. The portions they gave were generous. We tried two slices of their pizza. One of the Detroit style plain and the other was the spicy Italian sausage. Both were very different than your typical pizza and were yummy. We also got to try some pasta and have a glass of wine. I definitely want to come back for actual dinner or lunch now! Inside was clean, and a nice size. The cast iron sweet plantains has to be one of my favorite appetizers. I wish I could get it as a meal, alone. Their vodka sausage pie has some whipped ricotta on top. It's giving you a piece of Chicago without traveling there. Check it out! read more
We stopped in for dinner and drinks last night, we made reservations for a high top for 8pm, we arrived shortly before and waited at the bar. The place is nice and welcoming. Eric the bartender was very helpful. Let us know that they are a from scratch restaurant and pride themselves on their homemade drinks mixes and 48 hour pizza dough. Yet when I ordered the old fashioned he asked what kind of bourbon I wanted - OR did I want their batch made old fashioned. Why have an extensive bar and make batches of drinks. He let me try it, it was ok but I'm sure it would have been better if it was a fresh made drink. Yet later in the evening my husband asked for jalapeño agave syrup in his drink he was told no. His drink was made to order. Now onto the food. The cola wings were nothing special and as many other reviewers mentioned small and skimpy on the meat. The French onion ravioli were fine but again nothing special. The hangar steak which was mentioned as a personal favorite of our waiter was served on a cold plate and was cold. It was cooked medium but cold. I did enjoy the roasted peppers served with it. The pasta dish I ordered which was described so amazing on the menu tomato and asparagus was ok at best. I was expecting a burst of flavors that were going to be super fresh. If tasted one dimensional and like it came out of a tube/can. The pasta was chewy. I was disappointed. The pizza was good. A bit greasy but overall a solid pie. We should have known better to order food other than pizza. The waiter provided us with complimentary corn flan for dessert due to the steak being cold. It was ... weird. Not sweet for dessert and just not great. We'd go back but just for pizza. read more

I came here on a whim and I was pleasantly surprised. I was not expecting the chicken parm to be that good, it was one of the specials for the night. I was having trouble deciding between that or the vodka pasta so my waiter was able to add vodka sauce on my side of spaghetti that came with the entree and I was so happy! This may have been the best chicken parm I have ever had, I hope they add it to the menu in the future! read more
I've been wanting to try Blue Steel Pizza Company for a while now and was extremely disappointed in the food. We started out with the Coca Cola bbq wings and they didn't taste anything like bbq wings. The chicken itself was good but the sauce wasn't what we were expecting. For the pizza we ordered a classic style pizza. It was okay but some parts / bites were super salty compared to other bites. The Coke soda taps were all flat as well. In addition, service was pretty slow which was odd because there were only two other tables. Pretty disappointed with my visit here. Also be careful of the parking lot. There was one spot that has a huge dip, so if you have a smaller car it'll damage your bumper. read more
Delicious Detroit style pizza! I seen this spot on yelp and what convinced me to try this spot was seeing a bloggers post. I love me a good fluffy thick slice of pizza and this spot has quite a few options. They take pride in everything being house-made like their juices for cocktail, the pasta, the fluffy airy pizza dough! For drinks we ordered new motto and wanderlust. The new motto does taste good but it is a little bit sweet, however the wanderlust was a perfect combo although you can feel the off-dryness. I appreciated that they described the drink on the menu so you knew what to expect in terms of flavor palette. For an appetizer we order the korean style esquites and it did not disappoint!! They even offered more crispy wonton chips if needed to finish up the yummy goodness. For the main dish we ordered the stuffed mushroom pizza which was tasty and my friend who doesn't like mushroom at all really enjoyed it. You can't even tell there is mushroom in it as the waiter explainer it is all blended into goat cheese. The dough was airy and fluffy as it was described to us and crispy on the edge. The pizza can be oily (not overly) but that the nature of the style of pizza. Also, we ordered the maccheroni + vodka pasta but I didn't love it. The pasta was fresh and house made but the sauce wasn't my fav and tad sour but sweet from peppers. I def made a good choice in wearing stretchy pants b/c I was stuffedddd!!! We definitely had leftovers between the two of us. This spot is cute in the inside especially the bar area and the fire oven on the first floor, however it can he a little darker inside in terms of ambiance. The waiter was helpful with suggestions. Paid parking and garage available across the street from the place which is convenient! I cant wait to come back and try the other dishes but especially the pizza's (got my eye on that white pie)!! read more

Absolutely delicious! Plenty of options as a a vegetarian. Dan Dan noodles- would recommend. So savory perfect spiced. Squash with pomegranate and wasabi- such an interesting combination of food, but taste delicious together White eggplant pizza and vodka sauce pizza with the Calabrian chiles- would highly recommend those two! So flavorful, soft and juicy Great friendly server. Live jazz music upstairs, quiet downstairs. read more

Came here with some friends after work on a Friday, we made a reservation for 6:30 and shortly after the place was full! We ordered meatballs and cola wings for our starters which were good. The wings were a little too saucy, which wasn't a big deal. I had the spicy rigatoni which I really liked! The pasta was cooked al dente and there was a good amount of spice to the sauce. My friend's truffle mushroom pasta was also great. For the pizza - this was everyone's first time trying Detroit style pizza. It's definitely worth trying if you haven't yet. It was cheesy and the crust was crispy. Our server was also super friendly and helpful. read more

Service was good. Bar tenders were attentive and helpful. The wait staff was quick and checked in. Everyone seemed to like their cocktails while i had one of the stouts in a can. Only 2 beers on tap (misleading because theres like 10 taps but they're just not hooked up to anything. We were part of a party upstairs. (No elevator so fyi of you're in anyway unable to make stairs) Very strange at 6:00pm on the dot the house turned off the lights. I mean so abruptly that everyone on the floor gasped lol i get setting a mood for dinner but it was pitch black and also 78° according to the thermostat by the bathrooms. -Cola wings were great, whatever weird dipping sauce that came with it was gross tho. Not necessary and it was like a watery blue cheese? -Shoestring type fries and their dips were great. -Tuna tar tar was really good. Comes with blue corn chips which would be fine but they were salt and vinegar??? Completely obliterates your pallet so just eat the tuna alone. -The pizza? Honestly, i think we would have liked the one we chose better if it wasn't labeled a vodka sauce. We had whichever comes with sausage and honestly thats all we tasted. There were like 4 cheese listed with that one too? Couldn't tell. All together wasn't a terrible experience i think i would come back and try a different pizza and have those wings again. read more

Flavors were on point. Textures of the food can be better. Overall I enjoyed the place, ambience, service and flavors. Our waiter Jonathan was super nice and accommodating. I really appreciate him trying to get my Tito's with lime right. We will definitely be back for more dishes from the menu. This first visit was a hit or miss for us. Really nice large space with a good ambiance. We got the crispy cola wings, dan dan noodles, angry vodka pie, and garlic bread. The garlic bread was not our favorite but everything else was pretty good. The amount we ordered was definitely a lot for 2 people though especially because the the pies are more filling than they appear to be. Don't let the small size of the Detroit pies fool you! We love Detroit style pizza though and were happy to find a place nearby that serves it. We will definitely be back to try some of their other pies read more
I had been hearing about Blue Steel Pizza, and more particularly their special speakeasy room known as The Rabbit Hole for a very long time and wondered if it would live up to the hype--after trying it, I can say that it actually exceeded expectations. First, the experience. If you're lucky enough to get reservations for this very intimate private room you feel like a V.I.P. You get walked upstairs through a dining room filled with other patrons and whisked behind a sliding door to a hidden room called The Rabbit Hole, with low couches, small tables, very dim lighting, and its own bar and bartender. The drink menu consists of unique craft cocktails made with fresh-pressed juices and homemade simple syrups beautifully presented and exceptionally tasty. The food was amazing. We ordered a variety of small plates to share so we could try as many items as possible. A few of our favorites: the crispy cola wings were a unique and tasty take on chicken wings; the roasted golden beets were one of the most delicious appetizers I have ever had with the perfect mix of sweet and spicy; and French onion ravioli were a special of the day and very tasty. After several rounds of appetizers, we were pretty full but needed to try the Detroit style pizza that they are known for. We opted for the highly recommended ricotta and sausage pie and it did not disappoint. Thick and crispy, with vodka sauce, mozzarella, brick cheese, dollops of ricotta, and Calabrian chile honey for a bit of heat in the finish. Spectacular! Not only was it a very good experience, but it was a very good experience with high quality scratch kitchen ingredients you don't often find. Jersey-proud me couldn't think of a reason to visit a place that serves Detroit-style pizza but alas, I went and am so glad I did. Their pizza is not what I thought it would be. The dough is just absolutely the best combination of fluffy and dense--making the toppings stay in place with each soft bite. The pizza is obviously square and so it "doesn't look big" but it is. This is the spot for anything you plan for... date night, feast mode, guzzle down tasty drinks, AND the speakeasy located in the....... The minute I walked into this place I liked the feel. Downstairs had the chill bar area and dining seating for an intimate date night. Upstairs is more for a large gathering family style dinner. But the hidden gem is the speakeasy. All I can say is they do require a dress code for you to attend. And, you have to do a bunny hop or two to get in, or say the secret password... I'll let you figure out how to get into the "Rab-bit Hole" ;-] The Detroit style pizza was superrrrrr tasty. I got the White pizza and it had a robust flavor with the unique toppings. It was also "pull-a-part cheesy", ohhhh yeahhhhh the good stuff! The drinks were handcrafted and veryyyyy tasty as well. Only thing is, order them quick and keep em coming, because it does take time to make and deliver to your table. read more

Yes they do - we went on a sunny day so we didn’t need them but they have about 2-3 in their outside area

Vegan options yes, vegan cheese not so sure -- at least haven't seen it on the menu when dining there. Recommend calling to be sure :)
