My wife and I went here for breakfast one morning on vacation and absolutely loved this place! Great atmosphere that you can be comfortable in, or pull out your laptop and work for a bit. They serve up a mean breakfast, have healthier lunch options, and also sports a solid dinner menu. We debated coming back for another meal, but decided on trying out some other stuff. I got the signature breakfast (potato hash base, house style), and, while I found it a little heavy on the potatoes compared to the "house" portion, I ate every bite. My wife got a breakfast sandwich, which was equally as good. The rest of their menu had us drooling, and seeing other people's plates made us wonder if we had made the right decision. The only reason they're getting 4 stars instead of 5 is the coffee. For a place that had multiple people banging away on their laptops, I would have expected a full coffee menu with espresso drinks. Instead, it seemed like coffee was the only option, and it was generic at best. I guess you can't have it all in a place that seems to do most everything else very well. read more

Really cool cafe that has a unique approach to interior, patio, and menu. The dog friendly patio has a fun design. The food options make the trip over to find this off-the-beaten path location makes trek worthwhile. There are good options for tasty salads and the sandwiches are unique too! Even the standard burger has a size like an old fashioned, made to order pith watering event. Everyone in our group was especially surprised and in love with the chickpea side dish option. The decorations and beach vibe decor have an authentic look and feel. For fun they have a local artist wall that can be hit or miss but adds to the low key surfer ambiance. Yes. We're had an EXTREMELY bad experience yesterday. When ordering at the counter, we asked what dishes/salad dressings are made without garlic (my wife is extremely allergic) and we're told that the salads are good. (NB, Blue Surf had been one of our "go-to" places during the pandemic. Our last visit also resulted in the garlic discussion and we were assured no garlic in our brunch order, however, there was garlic their home fries which resulted in my wife being I'll for three days! Since this was our first bad experience here, we decided to give them one more try.) At any rate, when our lunches arrived, the person putting the dishes down on the table tersely stated "all of our salad dressings are made with garlic". She offered no solution or alternative. When I asked if they had oil and vinegar, said simply, I can bring you some olive oil. She then walked away. No "I'm sorry. Can I offer you something else? Or any other possible solution. (An $11 salad with no dressing?) Well, anyway, my wife went back inside to have the totally unacceptable dish removed from our (previously processed) credit card charge. The person inside was the same one who delivered our orders and wasn't the least bit interested in customer satisfaction. Later, I went inside to inquire about the credit card receipt documenting the charge reversal, the same woman became hostile. She clearly had not reversed the charge and seemed miffed I was following up. So. This person, who claimed to be the store manager and was apparently not, was totally unprofessional and became passive aggressive and insulting. She is not an asset to Blue Surf and hasn't the slightest idea of how to perform her job and interact with people. It was a completely miserable experience! read more

I went here for a quick lunch/study break. I ordered the cuban sandwich with potato salad for my side. The bread was nice and crusty and it was very filling. The potato salad was delicious (although a tiny bit too salty). The staff was very friendly - 2 different workers checked on us, which is nice for such a casual restaurant. I did find it to be a bit overpriced - my total was about $9 (for just the sandwich & side combo), which is a little expensive for lunch. Went here for the first time for Sunday brunch. It is located at the end of a small nice looking strip shopping center. There is outdoor and indoor seating and the cafe has counter servicee. We arrived about 11:15 on a Sunday and had to wait in line for about 10 minutes to place our order. After seatIng ourselves, our food was delivered to the table in about 10 minutes. I had the seasonal waffles topped with apples, craisins, and granola - very good! I also split a peanut butter hot chocolate - very decadent! My son had the Cuban sandwich and my boyfriend had the steak and eggs - both said it was delicious. Would highly recommend the hot chocolates! read more

Long lines, mediocre food and horrible service. You must wait in line and order, then find a table. We had three people in our party. Two of us ordered the peppermint hot chocolate (which happened to be the best thing we had) However we needed some silverware to eat the marshmallows. We waited for the servers to come by, no one did. So I got up to get some silverware and the only ones I saw were wrapped in napkin, so I grabbed a couple for everyone. Later when the horrible food arrived, the waitress (with an attitude) said.. Next time we will get your silverware and left without returning with my wife's jelly (she asked for it for her toast). So anyway on to the food. I had the beef,egg& cheese sandwich on a bagel: bagel was soggy. Wife had eggs and toast, no jelly and it was cold. My daughter had the waffles and it had half a bottle of syrup on it, she left the entire thing. Overall terrible experience and I suggest diners not go here. read more

A tasty burger and a Cubano sandwich were a hit with my family. I had a turkey avocado sandwich with arugula as takeout and it tasted very fresh. It's the now typical order up front, find a table after, then they'll bring it out. They give you a huge wooden fin with your number on it to place on your table. Perhaps it was new staff but there were a lot of bringing plates to occupied tables and asking if this was their order. It happened twice to us too. I ordered the meatloaf sandwich with potato salad and a dreamcycle (so?) drink. The meatloaf Sammy was huge tender juicy delicious dripping with goodness. We've been to Blue Surf for lunch at least half a dozen times. I usually get the mahi mahi sandwich because it's SO good and my husband is always happy to get the Cubano sandwich. Yesterday I branched out and got the shrimp tacos. They were described as being "dusted with chili" which I assumed meant spicy or at least seasoned well. These tacos were such a disappointment. Two tiny tacos with three tiny shrimp on each one. The shrimp were accompanied by a pinch of cabbage and some sort of mayonnaise-type sauce. Zero spice. Zero flavoring. I can't believe the same restaurant that makes the amazing mahi also produced these tiny tasteless tacos. My daughter's basic cheese quesadilla off the kids menu had more flavoring and was almost triple the serving size of my taco order. We'll be back, I'm sure, but you can be assured we'll steer clear of the tacos. read more

I love the atmosphere of the Blue Surf Cafe! It's got a casual, beachy feel and incorporates cool art displays. There were all generations eating there. I had fish tacos with mahi-mahi and mango salsa. Ive eaten a lot of fish tacos in my time, and these were decent (not the best but not bad either). When we arrived, we weren't greeted by anyone working there and it took us a couple minutes to figure out that we needed to get in line and order at the counter. How is it possible that every single food item that we ordered SUCKED!! We ordered 4 different items...The spinach salad was TINY and the dressing is just pure oil and bland, the shrimp tacos are basic AF and the seasoning is salty and they have no flavor. The tuna salad sandwich is... the tuna sandwich you make at home is better!!! And the potato salad lottery just tastes like a butt load of brown mustard and vinegar. The best thing we had was the side of potato chips and the glass of water. After hearing about this place from friends many times, I finally came in this morning & it was a great experience! I got the maple bacon waffle and it was absolutely delicious. If a restaurant has anything like that on the menu, I order it. But this was the first time I really loved it! My boyfriend got some kind of salmon breakfast sandwich and he thought it was really good. I ordered the potato hash on the side and asked for them well done, but they definitely weren't.
