I love this restaurant!!! Dawn and the rest of the servers are great. My favorite meal is the dressed hamburger with extra pickles. They are huge and taste great. They are juicy and I believe they use a high grade of beef. The Italian Chopped Salad is good with or without green olives. I haven't had the pulled pork sandwich but a friend of mine did and she really liked it. The only thing that is not to my liking are the french fries. I prefer fries like they serve at Mc Donald's, light, thin and crispy. So bottom line, try out the Blue Tomato. You won't be disappointed!!! read more

this place is great! Service was very prompt and friendly, I tried their Bloody Mary, it came in a plain small glass, didn't look like much, but it tasted great! You can definitely tell they put some BBQ style ingredients in it. I went with the Pulled Pork Sandwhich for my meal, it was a tough decision but after I devoured it I was happy I went with it. It had just enough juice to leave me a little puddle in my plate to dip my sandwhich in, but didn't make the bread soggy. I live not too far from here and order out if we can't dine in. Burgers are excellent, trash can nachos can feed 2 people. The people are so friendly and love kids. Parking lot is small but if the feed store is closed have at it. Love this place. read more

Our server did not seem interested in our table at all. Or most of her tables to be truthful. It was busy, but not full. She barely greeted us, and only checked with us once. She did not bring our check, the other server did and then wouldn't take the payment. So we finally just left cash lying on the table and walked out. Very disappointed. If not for the other server, don't think we would have eaten there at all. As to the food. No taste. No flavor. I used to frequent this place, but doubt I will be back. read more

Ok, so the first time we went to eat here, the staff became smitten with my daughter when she giggled and told the lady "Tchoupitoulas". She's about to turn 2. That was 2 months ago. The other night we went in for dinner just before close....and the lady behind the counter looks up and tells my daughter say Tchoupitoulas for me and gave her a big hug and a kiss! She had her saying it to the handful of people in the restaurant. The staff came by the table several times to literally love on our kids. Then.....when my daughter got fussy...the lady came from behind the counter, picked her up, put her on her hip, and brought her back behind the counter to help her close down the register, etc...letting her push buttons and all. Then she let my son run a credit card and bring the people their check. We fell in love with the instant family-love as if we have known these people all our lives. We decided, this is some place we are going every couple of weeks now....one of those places I want my kids to remember going every Friday night kind of thing. read more

Food-wise, it's a solid 5 stars, but I had to take off points for the flies that I was swatting away as well as the hot room. My high rating surprises me because the presence of multiple flies would automatically ruin a restaurant experience for me, but the food was that yummy. We weren't expecting much, despite the good ratings from Yelp because of the decor, but we thoroughly enjoyed especially the steak burrito. We ordered a side of guac and sour cream to complete the dish (too bad it wasn't included in the burrito!). A complimentary side of chips would have been nice too. It's interesting that there was no A/C despite it being June in Louisiana. We also had fish and shrimp tacos, shrimp fettuccine, tossed salad (homemade dressing was delish), and grilled chicken quesadilla. If we were in the area, we would go again. read more

You have to wonder why a restaurant would offer Mexican and Italian food on the same menu. Eclectic? Nothing extraordinary. Had the chicken/steak fajitas. I don't write reviews often unless I am completely blown away from a dining experience like I was tonight at the Blue Tomato. We were made to feel welcome upon entry by the entire staff. Jerry provided the best service I have had in a restaurant in a while. She was knowledgable and genuinely personable. She explained to us that the ribs had just come out of the smoker and that a lasagna had just come out of the oven. These aren't 2 entrees that my friend and I order often in a restaurant but Jerry's descriptions were so convincing that we let her carry the torch. The food was incredible. Ribs:Fall off the bone, flavor on point times 1000. Lasagna: Italian sausage added a fantastic flavor component. I could go on for days. I just moved in to the neighborhood and I will be back often. This place is a gem and the people here obviously care about what they are doing. This is a lost art in the restaurant world. Kudos read more

not a bad place, but not spectacular either... to be honest, i usually judge a mexican place by whether or not the wait staff can speak english (horrible? maybe. but does it work for me? sure does). which case, this place falls under the wait-staff-is-a-bunch-of-local-high-schoolers-looking-for-a-part-time-job category. not a mexican in sight! anyway, it's all right. i got a quesadilla, which was loaded with lots of cheese and chicken, but the price was a little steep when you consider that you can get the same thing at a national chain for less. however, if you find yourself on the way to walmart, and you are dying for some good, but generic mexican food, then you've found the place! read more

Originally when looking up the place it me and my boyfriend thought it seemed pretty cool that they had Italian,Mexican & burgers so we'd check it out. However the concept is nice but much work is needed. It can definitely be cleaner, & a littler friendlier. We walked in and got stares that made me feel uneasy (Interracial couple) I brushed it off. The hostess seemed kinda hesitant to approach us and once she did offered us chips and dip (Chips were good, salsa not so much tasted like canned sauce). It took awhile to come back take out order and i asked more then once if the burgers where served alone or with fries she repeatedly told me it's just a burger alone so I opted out and order the Enchiladas w.rice and beans & my boyfriend ordered the steak quesadilla. When waiting for our food I seen 3 other customers receive burgers and fries (eye roll). So as they have a mid-open kitchen and I seen the cooks was microwaving orders left and right and of course she seen me and was hesitant about doing it but yet she slammed the door and went on. As I watched both of our meals being put in the microwave I was just ready to go at that point. We got the food and it was just blah the rice was plain white rice(even those it had a Greyson tint too it) so flavor, the enchiladas had half a tortilla on top of the meat and the end were burnt from being left in the microwave too long and The beans were gross. this place has been right under my nose for 3 years living in Louisiana and today we decided to give it a try. I was anything--but disappointed. the food was amazing. The staff was friendly and the wait time was nothing. but let's get back to this food. my husband and daughter got hamburgers and cheeseburgers their faces exploded with joy from the Flavor impact they got from one bite. my ten-year-old daughter is quite picky about her hamburgers and she said these were out of the park phenomenal and she loved that they hooked her up on the pickles. I got the meatball parmesan which is what the server recommended as her favorite Italian Dish and told me I would for sure have leftovers. May thinking this woman doesn't know who I am or my pasta abilities LOL couldn't possibly know that I would have leftovers but she was 100% correct it was a massive portion for very cheap. and talk about delicious every single and shove the meatball is loaded with flavor and spices and seasonings that make it soft melted in your mouth perfection. and the sauce is to die for not too sweet not too Tangy perfect for marinara lovers. I 100% recommend this place for a non disappointing dinner. don't waste your money on fast food the burger is only five or six bucks and it's 10 times the size of a Wendy's Burger!!! read more

I grew up in southern California so my review may be slightly skewed, but at least I know what good Mexican food is. THIS IS NOT GOOD MEXICAN FOOD. Their "homemade" salsa tastes like Pace with ketchup added, the grilled shrimp is thawed frozen shrimp slightly warmed, and the salad is completely drenched in dressing so much so that it feels like the dressing is coating your insides. The Chimichanga was just OK, not really authentic, and not very flavorful. I have had chain fast food that tastes 1000 times better than this. (TACO BELL IS BETTER). Such a disappointment. I placed an order for pickup (chicken parmesan). Although I'd never eaten there I'd passed it often and wanted some pasta that I could pick up on my way home. I figured chicken parm is such a basic dish that no one could mess it up-- breaded cutlet, red sauce, pasta, a bit of cheese. I wouldn't have cared whether or not the cutlet was fresh or frozen, served with a jarred sauce. That's how minimal my expectations were. However, when I opened the box of food at home I was amazed at what they thought constituted chicken parm: chopped/diced cooked chicken breast (not breaded, possibly pre-cut/ frozen product) on pasta & red sauce covered in a handful of melted cheese. Seriously, I'd never seen anything like it. Had I not been tired & famished I would've taken it back. Rather, I added some additional spices (despite the cheese the dish was devoid of flavor) reheated, and tucked in. The best thing I can say is that it didn't make me sick & the waitstaff were nice, thus the single star. Otherwise, that item should be taken off the menu. read more
