I felt like I needed a steak knife to cut the waffle. It took forever to cut, and I still ended up with pieces stuck stubbornly together by amazingly ductile strands of batter. I don't normally write a review after only one visit; but, when your business name includes your signature dish, and that dish sucks, I infer a lot. That said, the food was decent. I got the Plain Jane Waffle meal ($7) with two eggs, with cheese ($1) added to my grits and a side of bacon ($2) for a grand total just shy of $12. The grits and eggs hit the spot. The bacon was good. I like it crispier than this, but most people would probably appreciate this level of doneness. The coffee, on the other hand, wasn't very good. It tasted like gas station decaf. And, like I said, the waffle, with batter scooped from a vat recessed in the cook's counter top, was underwhelming. Service was friendly and attentive. All in all, this place isn't bad, but neither is it particularly good. My overall impression was of a lesser, quirky, mom-n-pop, imitation Waffle House. read more

We headed out to find brunch on Thomas Dr. Passed a very popular spot with cars parked on the street and double parked in the lot. Decided to move on down the road a little. Landed here and are so glad we did. Excellent service, just very nice folks! The coffee was awesome, and they had vanilla creamer! My husband loved his so much he ordered seconds. I will never come back to this place even if the food was amazing. There was an older gentleman who I assume is a regular and he wanted to move tables, which I assume was due to the air vents blowing directly on his wife. Great little local place. Service was very good and the food great! I had the Captain"s Plate with Country Fried Steak, and hubby same with the Rib Eye. The ribeye was thin/scrawny but tasty; for what you paid ($7.95), it was very good. You can't beat that price. My country fried steak was very tasty too! The hash browns and over-medium eggs were cooked perfectly. The grits bordered on bland. I added margarine which improved it. However, real butter would've been better. No jelly on table, ask for it. Ditto for such condiments as ketchup and steak sauce. Definitely a place to come eat breakfast! read more

The place is very unclean. Even though they take the plates away, they still left opened napkins, jelly packets, and crumbs/spills everywhere from the previous diners. Seems to be like a local hot spot though. But cleanliness is a turn off to me. Prices were reasonable. But up charges were ridiculous. They would just charge the same amount as buying another side if you wanted to substitute a side. Like getting hashbrown instead of grits is $2.00 when just adding hashbrown is $2.25 while getting two. Just doesn't make sense. Service was great. Fast. Food was good. Pretty flavorful. What a rip off.. sat at counter, where a guy was washing dishes 1 foot in front of me. Ordered 2 scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast and coffee. 4 bites of eggs, 2 small strips of bacon, maybe a cup of hash browns, bread was barely toasted and small cheap white bread. Family Run - Top of the line breakfast spot. Hey! All of the locals know of this Gem. Limited selections on menu, but just pick one. They do it right - and they have the best home-made garlic salsa I have ever tasted. Just try their hash-browns with the peppers, onions, mushrooms and bacon, and top it wit a couple of over-easy eggs! Wow! And you don't even have to explain what over-easy means! Good Coffee too.
