Requested toilet replacement due to bad flange on existing toilet creating sewer smell in bathroom and, if needed, a drain clean out. Waited a week for an afternoon appointment. Morning of appointment, plumber calls to reschedule to that morning due to a personal appointment he had scheduled that afternoon. We scramble to accommodate but inform that due to reschedule there's no one to help carry the toilet up and light of stairs. Instant attitude. Plumber arrives with helper, is rude, condescending, asking why we want the toilet replaced, I list the services requested. He then denys there's drain clean out requested while waving his phone around telling me I'll have to reschedule. There's an obvious sewer smell in the bathroom, yet he can't smell anything. I tell him that was the purpose for his being there. He again denies it's on the service request so I tell him I'll call husband, he states he'll go get the toilet. I'd had my husband on the phone listening to all of this the whole time when plumber arrived and started being rude to me. Told husband I wasn't going to have someone in my home that I'm paying for a service, that is being so rude to me, that now don't trust to do this service. He agreed. I went to garage and cancelled service. He tells me I owe him $59. I tell him I'll call his office, he repeats I owe him $59. I tell him I'm not paying him a dime, I'll call his office and to leave. He says some choice words, I tell him good luck at his Drs appt. While closing garage door. Handy more choice words, I then tell him to get off my property or I'm calling the police. He leaves, I go inside. Husband's still on the phone and heard everything. He's outraged and called their office. Plumber told then owner I was nasty to him, was told that my husband heard everything because he was on the phone with me the whole time. Apologies were said and he asked if he could send someone else out, we've declined their service. read more

We used InSink as a recommendation from a relative. We purchased a faucet and were charged $279 for the installation. Two valves were replaced, and it was found leaking during the faucet installation, at a charge of $299 each. The cost for a valve is approximately $30.00. Overpriced service. I would call them "the Golden Stich". The total bill was approximately $900. I called around to other reputable Plumming companies I should have used. So, for the same services, it would have been a service call $179 for 1 hour of work and the cost of 2 valves. InSink charged $900, while other Plumming companies would have charged $358 for 2 hours of work, as I supplied the faucet and the cost of 2 valves. Buyer beware, and shop around. You want to know if it's unit costs or a services call. In my situation, a services call would have been cheaper. read more

The pilot light went out and would not light on my 17 year old water heater. Jr came out very quickly and gave me options that included a new unit and what it would take to repair. We needed to have our sewer replaced from the house to the street. It could not be lined as it was sagging, so excavation was required. Gary, Jr. and Gary, Sr. (owners) gave us a reasonable price and prompt service. The job took much longer than they expected due to several abandoned sewer lines and drainage tiles that were discovered and had to be investigated. They did a great job, both with the work and in dealing with the Village of Lombard because of unforeseen complications with the connection to the sewer under the street. We did pay a bit more than the original quote due to all the extra time involved, but they could easily have asked for much more and it would have been justified. A lot of plumbers will hit you up for all sorts of extras and try to scam you (just look at the Yelp reviews for some of these other companies), but these guys are very straight forward and easy to work with. LOL, I go to the InSink yelp page to do a review and I see the picture of the snowy yard being excavated and did a double-take. Hey, that's my yard! We had some recurring problems with the sewer line getting blocked, and the outfit we were using back then (won't name them but it rhymes with Roto-Scooter) claimed we needed $10K+ worth of work to replace a supposedly broken pipe. I brought in InSink to get a second opinion because I thought I was getting scammed, and it looks like I was. So the pilot light went out on my hot water heater. It's happened before and I was able to start it after trying a number of times. This time I could see that there was no flash to light the burner. Otherwise, the tank looks great and had no other problems that I know about. I knew that this water heater could be repaired, which is why I had problems finding a plumber to fix it. I have learned that many plumbing contractors really don't want to repair your water heater even though they advertise that they do. I had several plumbers out to see the water heater and both told me, without even touching the water heater, that a. the unit was over 8 years old; and b. it could not be repairs; or b. the gas valve was broken and repairs would be between $ 500 and $ 600. Also, I thought the unit was younger, but I never looked it up as I believed what I was told. Bottom line, I believe many plumbers really don't want to do small jobs but would rather sell you a new unit. Then, I call InSink Plumbers out of Carol Stream, Illinois, owned by Sr. and Junior, the son, who came to my house. Here's what he told me: a. Yes I like to make repairs to water heaters. b. No your hot water heater is under six years old. c. Yes the warranty for parts expires in November of 2018. d. No the gas valve is not broken. e. Yes the water heater looks good and could/should last for several more years; and f. No you don't need a new water heater because I can repair it right now. 30 minutes later he gets it started and charged me 1/4 to 1/5 the cost of a new unit. InSink, remember that name. Gary Jr. is fantastic! I recently had InSink install a tankless water heater in my home and I could not be happier. My old water heater was 20 years old and it was in a small closet with no floor drain next to a wood floor. I felt I was living on borrowed time and I wanted to get it replaced before it sprung a leak and ruined the floor. Gary figured out the best place to install the tankless unit and not try to persuade me to leave it in the same closet like some other plumbers I had quote me the work. We had a new garbage disposal installed in October of 2016, and InSink did a great job. However the other day it fell off. We called them since they installed it and they charged us $200 to put it back on. I was stunned and reminded him that they installed it and all he said was that it was last October. (10 months). He was probably here 15 minutes. I could not believe they charged us for something that was probably not installed correctly. Even the guy himself said these things don't normally happen. Unfortunately for me I am too timid to speak up. So while they did what I thought was a good job initially, I'm not happy that they charged so much for 15 minutes work. I hardly use it.
