Such a good brunch experience at Blue Willow! We sat out on the patio and really enjoyed the atmosphere. It was relaxed, comfortable, and the perfect setting for a weekend brunch. The food was delicious! We really enjoyed the shrimp and grits, and the Florentine Benedict was so good too. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and the portions were generous. The gluten free coffee cake was easily one of the highlights. It was soft, flavorful, and honestly addicting. I would go back for that alone! Was headed to Prep & Pastry for breakfast with my girlfriend yesterday when i pulled up short. Blue Willow has been on my radar for a while. Parking lot is on the small side and was quite full. Ambiance/Cleanliness-walking in through a very mid gift shop was not on my bingo card, but there we were. Well lit dining areas, spanning 50/50 indoor/outdoor. I'm not an al fresco fan. The inside had all the charm of a senior citizens dining hall and the fan overhead blasted us with quite cold air the whole time. The table wobbled and I couldn't fix it. 2 stars Service-decent, not overly warm or helpful, but not hostile either. The cashier handling my bill asked how everything was and I responded.."disappointing"...crickets..3 stars Food-I got iced tea and the carnitas benedict, mi dulcinea got ice water and the classic benedict...we both got potatoes as a side. The potatoes were good. I requested the cornbread be crisped both sides..only one was done. This was NOT carnitas, this was pulled pork..lacking in both texture and flavor. The eggs were perfect. The sauce also lacked any character, other than providing moisture. My girlfiend said her classic bennie was "ok". Me and my family stopped by blue Willow this morning for some breakfast. We had a great time, service was good. We always enjoy the space even though we don't come here often. Today we ordered the two egg breakfast with bacon, toast, and potatoes, a Belgian waffle, some turkey sausage, and also the blueberry pancake. Quaint, eclectic and cute. Not a show stopper for me, the breakfast food was amicable, nothing stunning, nothing notable and nothing realistically unique. The restaurant is portalled through a gift shop with uneven floors which are certainly some trip hazards if you're not paying attention. It's a nice little spot with an unusual and organic touch to it with compressed seating in some areas. One restroom, feet away from patrons; not what I would recommend for sanitation and appeal to the customers just feet away from the restroom door. Overall, the Service was good, fast and hot. Plentiful amount of drink attendance but drafty with the sealing fans in the morning. It was simply okay, with nothing really that stands out to our visit. Nothing really bad either than the close proximity of the seating next to a restroom entrance. A final note, of the several dishes we purchased, only one really had a delicious through and through presentation and taste and that was the single waffle lightly sprinkled with powered sugar but contained nuts and was very light to taste. Just well done on that one! Certainly not a 'no' in my book but if in the area, would certainly try the lunch menu one more time and see how that might reflect differently. Cheers! read more

We visited on Saturday morning. There was no wait and we seated ourselves. The servers were friendly and helpful. We had several come to our table prior to ordering food to ask if we had any questions about the menu. We ordered the Chorizo Scramble and Homemade Quiche. We also had spicy Bloody Mary's. The Chorizo Scramble was good but not very spicy. The spicy Zooey Mary had more of a kick but overall it was still good. The Homemade Quiche came with home potatoes and toast. Both dishes were delish! On the table we noticed a summer Anniversary Special for an awesome price of $36! Take in or to go. So, my first time there. You have to enter and exit through a gift shop. Place has many different rooms & when we entered, we were told to seat ourselves. Kinda overwhelming if you've never been there before.... Just have no clue where to go, turn right, go outside? Idk! We sit outside and were greeted by a young man. I can't recall if he got our drinks or someone else. We watched him serve every one around us... then a young lady came out of no where and took our order. Our food came and we never saw that young woman again, having no idea who our actual server was!? The first guy came back over and asked if everything was fine.... We said 'ya' and then asked if we could get our check from someone. He gave us our check. All in all, the food was good, the place was nice, but the service was just weird. Absolutely no offense, but I think it's funny they have compostable straws but have their butter individually wrapped (you need to unwrap 50 to put them on your nine dollar pancake) and put their ketchup in plastic toss out containers. We have been flying in to Tucson, just to sample as much food here as possible. One our favorite places is the Blue Willow. They really have a innovative menu with interesting combinations that are top notched. One of our favorites is the Sonoran Benedict, which features Cornbread topped with Carnita. It is absolutely amazing. Another favorite is their Gruyere Mac and Cheese, very harty and creamy. Do not forget to visit their gift shop on your way out, some really unique and hilarious books and socks! Well worth visiting! read more

Blue Willow is such a cute little spot on Campbell! I love that you walk through a charming gift shop before getting to the restaurant -- it sets such a cozy vibe. The staff was super friendly, though it was pretty busy when we went, so service wasn't quite as attentive as it could've been. I ordered the poblano chicken, which comes with mashed potatoes and the daily vegetables. The food itself was fabulous -- I ate every bite! That said, the presentation could use a little work. The plate looked a bit plain. Today's veggies were sliced zucchini and squash, which tasted great, but it could really use a pop of color -- something like bright green broccoli or some red bell peppers would make the dish look a lot more appetizing. It was my friend's birthday, so we brought our own cake, and the staff was very kind to let us do that (which I appreciated!). But when the check came, I was a little surprised to see a $9 "plate charge" for the cake. I totally get that there's a policy like that, but I just wish it had been mentioned up front. When I see unexpected charges on a bill, it feels a little sketchy. All in all, I'll definitely come back -- the food and atmosphere were great. Just a note to the restaurant: please explain any extra charges before the bill comes out. It makes a big difference! read more

A cute restaurant and store that has cute, fun items, jewelry, socks etc. The restaurant is quite large and there are tables inside and on the covered patio. We were there for happy hour, but they only have a Chardonnay and a Cabernet, so I had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc wine. No idea what any of the wines were. For dinner, I was recommended by friends to try the blackened salmon Caesar salad. It was fairly warm out so was looking forward to a cold refreshing salad. unfortunately the lettuce was not very cold or crisp, and had too much dressing. We've been wanting to try this place for years and finally got the chance to try it for dinner. Went there on a weeknight before seeing a show. Not very busy, so easy to get a table. I liked the menu because they had a little of everything and something for everyone including breakfast for dinner. We started with the herbed butter board, which was great, but for the price, I thought they could have given us a couple more slices of bread (they gave us 4 pretty thin slices), but it was delicious. I then had the salmon caesar and my husband had the stir fry with chicken. Both were excellent. I'd go back and have it again. Service was great - very friendly server and willing to give her opinion when I couldn't decide on what to get which I really appreciated. Prices are a little high, but understandable for a local business which I'm happy to support. I wish the portion sizes were just a little bigger for the price (I think my salmon was probably about 4oz), but we left plenty full and will definitely be back to try breakfast. I'm vegan and got the veggie chili without the cheese and sour cream, opting for the side baguette, and it was flavorful and packed with a wide variety of veggies, beans and a light amount of rice. The side of bread was also warm which was a nice touch. Our server was very attentive and even dropped off a free lemonade refill while the food was being prepared. While we didn't come for drinks, I did notice that they also have several cocktails with a happy hour starting at 3pm everyday. NEVER GOING BACK!! They do not want large groups!! My family and I have gone here several times. Their pancakes are pretty good and my wife really likes their lavender drink. It's been good enough for us to keep returning when we take our daughter to her UofA dorm. However, something happened today with the staff that has ensured we will NEVER Return! This time, we had my elderly parents with us for a total of 6 in our group. We tried to call ahead to notify them of the large group, but they said they don't take reservations and to just come in. When we arrived, they have a sign out that says "Please Seat Yourself". We told the girls at the front counter that there was 6 of us and asked if they had a table for 6. They advised that they were not sure and for us to go look. So we went into the dining area to look. They did not have a table set for 6 people, but they did have plenty of open tables set for 4 and 2. So, I scooted two tables together for us all to sit together. The next thing I know, a waitress came over and started berating me for moving the tables. Stating that it was a "Fire Code Violation"! She was very rude about it and said she was going to find someone to talk to me. I tried explaining to her that we had a party of 6 and we were "seating ourselves". She went into the back and got some older waitress to come over to speak with me. The second waitress came over and asked if she could help me. I explained to her that we are a party of 6 and that we needed a table that we could all sit at. In a very condescending way that I absolutely did not appreciate, she re-stated that they have a fire code. I understand that there's a fire code that they need to abide by, but these employees were really rude about it, and the tables were already right next to each other. But the lady said that if we needed a table for 6, we would need to wait for a bunch of people in this other area to leave. I explained This is WHY I told the girls at the front counter that we were a party of 6! We were already prepared to wait and waiting was fine! After all of this drama about the tables happened, my parents and wife were over it, and decided that it wasn't worth waiting. So, we sat apart at different tables. THEN, to top it all off, I ordered a "breakfast burrito" that they brought me with both ends open. ???... Apparently, their cook doesn't know what a burrito is! They have lost my business forever, and I will try to deter anybody that will listen from spending their money there!! read more

I came in for lunch. It's seat yourself, so I quickly found a small table. Dinning area was clean and so was the bathroom. My waitress Amelia was attentive and courteous. I ordered the Sonoran Benedict and chose potatoes for my side ($15) and plain French toast ($10). The Sonoran Benedict was green chile corn cakes with carnitas, poached eggs and poblano cream sauce. Every bite needed to be doused in tobasco to elevate the flavors. The poblano cream sauce was too creamy and didn't have a distinct taste. The corn cake was okay but needed more something. It was underwhelming. The carnitas was also under seasoned and underwhelming. The potatoes were perfectly seasoned but had a strange texture like rubbery. As if they'd been seared then steamed. Plain challah french toast was okay. It was dry. On a scale 1-5 I would give all my food a 2.7. Definitely a bummer I feel this place used to really deliver on flavor. The food has been exceptional every time. If you're a fan of trinkets and witty items, you'll love browsing around the gift shop. The environment, both indoors and outdoors, is some of the best I've seen in Tucson. The outdoor seating is my favorite with the exceptional greenery and simple layout. I'm kind of delightful time at Blue Willow! It has quite a homey feel which I enjoyed. The inside was bright and spacious. We ordered the brunch special, which was a bacon hash with a mimosa. The food came out quickly, and it tasted awesome. I was particularly struck by how fresh the herbs were. The hash browns were cooked to perfection, the over medium egg yolk added a real sumptuous quality to the dish. The mimosa was the chef's kiss! It was all very adorable and great quality for the price point. I think the only thing that would have made my meal better was a great salsa to accompany it. We will be back! read more
