Wow bad reviews but my experience was positive. I rented bikes in both downtown Boston and Salem. If you have experience with city bike rentals it can get annoying until you crack the method. Use the app to use the QR code. Also if you are like me you didn't know that you can use your camera to access the QR. ‍My bike was in descent condition. The kids were all over the city. Louisville horrible .....NYC so I have city bike rental experience. It appears this is owned/managed by Lyft

What the F**k, when you get to a full station to dock your bike the lyft / bluebikes fail to provide alternative services to allow their employees to provide method to relocate your bikes to an alternative station for you when their station is full when your unavailable to go to the next nearest station which might be a 15 or 30 minutes walk at minimum depending on if their are any crowded events like the boston marathon. Bluebikes and Lyft Please calculate demand and increase the size and number of stations in a high demand location, and please provide special employees that will move your bike for you to an alternative bike station during high demand events aka the boston marathon when the near station to your destination is full. Any person that has a more positive experience has a valid point. However bluebikes / Lyft can keep cutting us off like this please spread the word so that lyft and it's subsidiaries are forced to change their policies and provide the recommended services above at minimum for their disservice.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I just got stitches a couple days ago; can't walk. So I got dropped off @home one day, and use the Bluebikes as a wheeler to help me get groceries. Didn't realize I didn't dock properly until 2 hrs later at home (6:45pm) I call support: I can't walk, esp that far (just took an abx, drowsy and diarrhetic). They said "we can wait 24 hours for the bike to shut down, you can pay the fees then, OR "Go find and dock it yourself, then pay the fees. Insisted I couldn't walk, and they "put in a request" for some team to go check the station. It's currently 10 pm, I haven't received any call or notification about the situation, and my bike is still undocked. Thanks for supporting yourself as a customer to my wallet, I guess? There are few if any e-bikes. It's very expensive to rent a pos heavy pedal bike that will not dock.

Awful. Kiosks didn't work, and they wouldn't refund me. Suggested I walk to another kiosk.

Bike experience and confidence is helpful. The good news is that there are so many bikes on the street that they have become part of the driving landscape and car drivers are less likely to not see you. The price is cheap, bikes were well maintained and there were bike stations everywhere I wanted to go. Will definitely use Hubway next time I'm in Boston.

When the only weaknesses of a service are an under-developed infrastructure and the potential…read moreignorance of users who believe they're beyond the application of standard terms and conditions, well sir, you've got a pretty stellar thing going. The Hubway, for the uninitiated, is a network of community bikes meant to be a feel-good alternative to public transit. It is not, I repeat NOT, a bike rental for a day of joy riding. Just as you wouldn't hop in a cab and take it around for grocery shopping, dinner and to catch a flick, you should not consider Hubway for long-term use. It's plastered on every bike, at every station and contained in your rental agreement. Complaining to the contrary is just silly. In fact, the key to its success is the short-term nature of use: 30-minute rides mean a constant flux in inventory, which means greater availability to all. The current price structure is $6 for a day-tripper, $12 for a three-day run (oh hey, long weekend), $20 for a monthly pass and $85 for a full year. All of these memberships have the same terms: unlimited 30-minute cycles, with an up-charge for times beyond. Be mindful of this. Find stations and refresh the 30 minutes often (pop your bike in, get a new code and take it out again). If a station is full, you can easily request a Time Credit from the terminal and get 15 minutes to find another station. Purty smart. Also, using a tracking app like Spotcycle or Biximo to plan your course and know what's full - luckily, there's usually another setup nearby. Some stations build up bikes; others are seemingly always naked. I'd hope this is being evaluated as they expand. And of course, as the number of stations tally up, Hubway only gets more effective. It'd be nice to see some sort of timing function (a stamp on your paper code, perhaps), so you're not relying on your iPhone for those returns at the wire. Finally, a printed confirmation for a bike return? I know the green light flicks on, but if there's ever discrepancy, there's no real record for the user. The wheels themselves are durable, functional 3-speeds that ride purposefully casually (read: slow). It's really an amazing service, and in three(?) years, has made a tremendous impact to the local commuting scene. Even as a bike owner, I'll be using Hubway often.

Then, you get all the 30 minute or less rides you can handle. If you ride for longer than 30 min, you get charged up the wazoo, so be careful! I was disappointed that there wasn't an app for the bikes, like many other civic bike rental companies have. An app that shows you how long you have until your time runs out, where the next kiosk to return the bikes is at, and how many bikes are available would be nice. Since there's such a penalty for riding for more than 30 minutes, it'd be nice to know when you're getting close. I did a total of three rides. On each ride, each bike was messed up. Usually it was the derailleur for the gears, making it difficult to shift. On another bike, the brakes were stuck in the 'on' position, making it difficult to ride. They could use more maintenance on these bikes. But I still had fun, there are 3rd party apps that are unofficial Hubway apps that tell you where the next place to return the bike is. However, there needs to be a LOT more places to rent/return bikes before this becomes a reliable way to get around the city. Why aren't there more hubs in places where they need them?!

These are often not reflected in the app or website. So you end up walking 10-15 minutes to a station and then can't use a bike or end up biking around trying to find a working dock at the end of your trip. For instance I just tried to get home from work. First station had two broken docks so couldn't get a bike out. Second station had four broken docks but fifth gave me a bike. Then went to three different stations to find a working dock to return (with many full stations where I couldn't even try.) If you report to customer service they may or may not respond within a week. (I walked by the same broken bike for over a week after reporting it. Simple flat tire and wasn't fixed.) Same for account issues. Took over a month to receive key with multiple calls, emails, lies ("oh we sent it out" "well now we sent it again") before finally receiving. If you are standing at a working dock with working bikes go for it. But don't count on this service for anything unless and until they learn to accommodate current volume.

I was told to come back tomorrow. I tried calling the next day, but nobody answered the phone so I showed up they didn't remember me. I came back the following day called again. No answer showed up didn't know who I was again reminded him an went to get my scooter ready for me to take one problem, though there was no charger with the brand new scooter. He could not find it. I tell him about my scooter, he tells me to bring it in. I told him the back brake is no longer working, and my rear tire was making a grinding noise. He told me I could leave it to fill out my information before leaving. I asked him when he thought somebody would be able to take a look at it and he told me about a month. He stated the technician wasn't in today and that they had a backlog of scooters that needed to be repaired, which he pointed to in the corner and then told me there was multiple down in the basement of the same model. I told him that wasn't an option for me to wait over a month and that the scooter is still under warranty for another five months he tried to refer me to a scooter shop in Cambridge, which I live nowhere near and not paying for something that was under warranty. I then asked him what to do and he told me to call Segway the scooter company. And then again referred me to the scooter shop in Cambridge, which I had to reiterate that was not an option and I am not paying for something that is still under warranty. I asked him for Segway's number which he told me he did not have and to "Google it". My only dealings with this place twice have not been good and not the best customer service to say the least. Scooters were $1100 with tax and are under warranty for another five months and they are telling me I have to wait over a month to even get it looked at. Unacceptable!

Sadly, there was some cosmetic damages that happened in the shipment, but the folks at Dynamic went beyond what I was expecting and rushed new parts to me and even offered to pay for any labor should I want to take it to a local bike repair shop and have them do the installs.
