First off I am taken back by the rudeness of the wait staff... I have been there many times hoping that maybe it was just oneones bad day but the majority of the staff sucks. They are rude and usually ignore my table. I had only one good waitress the 20+ ive tortured myself and for some dumb reason I kept com I g back hoping it was just a fluke. Today will be my last time coming for many reasons. First off my bloody Mary was the worst I ever had. It was in the smallest of smallest glasses for one. The alcohol was the cheapest and they used so much and hardly any bloody Mary mix and then poured tons of hot sauce in it....why? Couldn't even drink it. Half of my breakfast was not even correct or not even brought out. And the waitress was non existent for help. When she made a brief appearance she just seemed angry. When I was nothing but chill and relaxed about the whole experience. Also today was a cold day outside and they had their air conditioning on full blast. Everyone had their coats and hats on in the restaurant. I just feel that it's just not worth spending a dime there if you just get treated like crap especially when you tip well and treat people well. You should at least get treated with some respect. I just can't do it any more. read more

Waitstaff are friendly's good basic foood at a fair price.I don't know why people go to chain restaurants with their over processed low quality food. I guess because many people can;t tell the difference. BIG menue. You can probably find something you like there. Real old time feel of a good dinner. read more

This is a fantastic place. The staff is friendly and approachable, and the food is inexpensive, fresh, and delicious. The Lucky Special burger is probably one of the best I've ever had, and their onion rings are nothing to sneeze at as well. read more

We just celebrated my husband's 50th at the Bluebonnet's Florentine Room. Jim Greco the owner and his staff are outstanding! We wanted an expanded buffet , to offer our guests many choices! Everyone was so pleased, including us! There were healthy and tasty choices! The homemade potato salad was like my Grandmother use to make! Even a carving station, with Chef Greco! The dessert bar was incredible..Lots of homemade pies and even strawberry shortcake! Something for everyone! Our own private bar in a lovely ,tastefully decorated room.. The bathrooms were clean as a whistle too! We had it all at the Bluebonnet Florentine Room and it was so cost effective! There was one charge for the food, room and waitstaff! It is as good as it gets, at the Bluebonnet & the Florentine Room! read more

Excellent food....great Boston Cream Pie...as well as Blueberry. A must to take home. Daily Specials are great...especially Mac and Cheese on Fridays. Packed on Saturdays since about the only place in town to have breakfast...no matter what you order the food is good. Long lines on Saturday - Fridays as well. Only negative is the hostess who is horrible...slow, disorganized...out of her element...need to get someone who can do more than 1 thing at a time. This is the second time me and my boyfriend have been there without service for over 10 minutes while the waitresses wait on people that just walk in the door. I am from Alabama but my wife has family in Massachusetts. We ask her Mom where she wanted to eat for her birthday and she wanted to go to this diner. The food was great. I had the roasted chicken and it was fantastic. The waiter was a pleasant enough person but the customers at the bar were extremely loud, drunk, and obnoxious. They were apparently suffering from paranoia since everyone in the world were out to get them. Their language was foul and their behavior was just and bad. I know some will feel this was not the fault of the diner but I feel like anyone could have ask them to calm down and lower their voice. I mean it was the middle of the day. read more

First things first, you only get the real diner experience if you sit in the front/diner section. There are two other sections that are more like a regular restaurant. If you want the diner experience simply get seated in that section. As a regular at the Bluebonnet, I couldn't recommend this place more. It's perfect for breakfasts (you can find us sitting at the counter - along with the other regulars - on Sat mornings) - quick, good quality food, and great service. Since we're fishetarians, we can't vouch for the quality of the meat dishes, but all the (non-breakfast) items we've had we liked. Asparagus on toast is a real crowd pleaser in the spring. All the meat-eating friends we've taken there were very pleased with their orders. The atmosphere is casual, and the wait staff essentially never changes - you don't get served by college kids who don't care, you get served by the same waitresses who have worked at the Bluebonnet for years and who care about your experience. read more

My sister & I meet here for lunch on Monday 6/1,as Northampton is kinda the half way point for us. We arrived at noon and were seated almost immediately. We ordered our lunch & started to catch up as we hadn't seen each other for months. Our food came in a timely fashion & it was OK. The server, Mary, did her job, taking our order & did a call back to see if everything was good. She cleared my plate as I was done as my sister finished hers. We continued to talk but at 1:00, Mary asked us to leave as " there are people waiting." Really. I was shocked that we were asked to leave. We haven't visited with each other for a while, it's pouring rain outside. Basically: we got your money, get out. Now I worked as a restaurant manager for 38 years & I never asked a guest to leave after an hour cuz I wanted the table turned. May have wanted to but never did. It's just rude. I called the next day to talk to Jim, the "person in charge" & he said yeah, we need to turn the tables over & we don't want someone monopolizing our tables for 2 to 3 hours. Too bad. I remember somewhere that there is more than 1 restaurant in Northampton that I'll try next time. Honestly if they were the only restaurant in town, I'd go hungry. They are getting no more money from me. And Mary: I normally tip in the 20 to 25 percent range, as I know the hard work servers do. But you were wrong here. Broasted chicken was good, but one piece was undercooked. Everything else was average. Lots of locals. Staff are very nice.

From Sysco, with love. The mashed potatoes are from a box, the gravy from a jar or can, the peas from a can, and the meatloaf frozen. I've eaten here a few times, and it always feels like a sit-down rendition of a tray-style microwave dinner. I actually find charm to the place, but much of that rests in just how unabashedly mediocre and pre-melded the food is. I'll give one star for canned peas over frozen, one star for the cute model train, and one star for keeping the median age at sixty or thereabouts. I suggest one try it at least once, but perhaps only for hipster kicks. read more

Exactly what we wanted from a diner to break up a late night drive. Quick and decent food, appropriate prices. Our waitress was efficient and sassy. Atmosphere felt pretty authentic in the front part of the diner where we sat. I could imagine hanging out here, drinking coffee and chatting with friends for a few hours. read more

Great diner, with more. There is an original, old-fashioned diner car with a counter, but there is also a modern dining room with huge, comfortable booths, as well as a bar/lounge with more tables, and a banquet hall for private events. The food is great, and you can get pretty much anything "American." While you won't find any ethnic food, you can get any sandwich imaginable, classic breakfast foods, steak, excellent broasted chicken, and more. If you want a good, simple meal, this is the place. read more

A cozy little restaurant right outside of downtown Northampton. Not much of a wait if you are looking for a quick sit down bite to eat.

My boyfriend and I went there this morning for breakfast. We hadn't been in there in a while because last time we went in there the food wasn't that great. We decided to give it another try and went in and sat at a booth. The waitress took a bit to come to our table and when she did she took my drink order and walked away without asking my boyfriend what he wanted to drink. I had her start me a side of toast since I was very hungry and when it arrived it was extremely soggy. I only ate two bites. When our food arrived we couldn't wait to dig in as everything "looked" great. My boyfriend took a few bites before his face dropped. Mouth full of food he opens his mouth and pulls out the LONGEST BLACK HAIR CLUMP. It was absolutely disgusting. Needless to say we lost our appetite. I walked up to the front and asked to speak to a manger when the waitress I asked said she was a manager, I told her what happened and that we didn't want a new one or anything else we just wanted to get our check and leave. She was very short with her response and her tone was snippy. All she said was "okay I'll take it off" she didn't even apologize or anything. She acted like we were being assholes for complaining about the hair clump that was somehow mixed into his eggs. The original waitress came back to our table a few minutes later and asked what happened, we told her, she asked if we wanted a new one or anything else but we declined. We waited another 5 minutes for them to come back with our bill for the juices we had or to let us know that they were sorry or some kind of acknowledgement that they actually gave a shit but they didn't. We got up went to the front and asked if we owed for our drinks. The "manager/waitress" only said "no it's all set. Sorry." And then stormed away. We could not believe how poorly we were treated. Not only did they make us feel like we were wrong for bringing it to their attention but we were wrong for not wanting to finish our food. They were very rude and could not careless about how absolutely disgusting the whole thing was. We will NEVER eat there again. We went to the Florence diner after to finally get breakfast and the waitress was amazing and the food was fabulous. We left her a twenty dollar tip for being so great. Blue bonnet really dropped the ball on this one. Making the customer feel wrong for an error in their kitchen then being rude and giving us dirty looks for complaining. Florence diner is going to be our new go to for breakfast. They know customer service and we should've gone there in the first place! read more

This diner is bad. It should be on thr v shoe Kitchen Nightmares. I was there for lunch with my family and ordered baked ziti. It should be called microwaved ziti with watery sauce. My wife's club sandwich was to be made with roast turkey it was processed. I will never go back. Crap place. read more

This is a great place for a simple, quiet breakfast. The staff is so friendly and attentive. I've always had only breakfast here and I've enjoyed the french toast, eggs and hash. It's nothing fancy, but I keep coming back, because the food is reliably good, fairly priced and the servers are fabulous. read more

My mother and I decided to go to the Blue Bonnet Diner one day recently. It's not really my type of place, but Mom wanted to go. My mother is 90, is very mobility challenged and uses a walker. I was happily surprised to find an open handicapped access parking space right outside the front door. However, when I investigated, in order to get in the front door you have to climb about 5 steps plus another to actually get into the diner. I looked around the side of the building and spotted a ramp. There were no parking spaces (handicapped or otherwise) next to it, so I pulled up, got my mother out, and had her wait while I parked the car. When we got up the ramp and inside, there was a sign that stated we had to go to the front of the restaurant to see a hostess. As we began to make our way in that direction, luckily a server asked us if we would like a seat and seated us right where we were. Okay, now for the food. Since it was a cold, drizzly day, Mom and I both decided that the home made beef stew sounded delicious. Mom ordered a bowl, and I ordered a jumbo bowl, thinking I could take any leftovers home to my husband. Mom ordered a coffee, and I ordered a seltzer. Our beef stew arrived, and our bowls were hardly different in size. Sure, I only paid $1.00 more, but jumbo should be jumbo, right? Upon tasting, I found there was absolutely no seasoning. I ended up using a ton of salt. Mom didn't like hers for a different reason; the chunks of meat were too big. We were both very disappointed. When the bill arrived, I realized they actually charged me for seltzer - $2.49! Our server was adequately friendly and efficient. Needless to say, we won't be going back. read more

Blue Bonnet is great! Their meals remind of some of the classic recipes my family made for me when I was a kid. This is definitely a great place for comfort food, particularly their soups, macaroni and cheese, and delicious breakfast items. The food is basic, nothing super fancy, but it warms you right up! We were out in North Hampton for our son's wedding when we came across from this gem. The staff so friendly and the food was delicious. Had the broasted Chicken and I would travel the 2 hours just to have that dinner again. We took my son's in laws there the morning of the wedding for breakfast and everything was delicious. There is no consistency in the delivery of their food. There are some wait people that take pride in their service but tonite again the wait person wrote the order wrong. The other 3 people with me completely ate their dinner and mine never came. Initially the sandwich was wrong so it went back 18 minutes later I got the sandwich with stuff on it that I requested to not have on it. My husband asked for the beef stew that is normally warm....and requested it extra hot. His stew was Luke warm. Terrible dinner, terrible service. This place gets rated much to high except for people who accept the quality of the food and service. Need to find a new place for our Thursday evening family dinners! read more

I live in New Jersey, but I've eaten here for dinner twice on visits to Northampton. Now, New Jersey is noted for its diners, but I must say the Bluebonnet isn't bad. Like most diners, it has a huge menu. And like most diners, the clientele tends to be a bit long in the tooth -- lots of canes and walkers, a few wheelchairs and oxygen tanks. But the overall atmosphere is warm and convivial, and the servers, many of whom appear to be local college students judging from the tattoos and piercings, are chipper and friendly and seem genuinely happy to schmooze with the old folks. The food I've tried has been of variable quality. I'd recommend avoiding the meatloaf, which was more loaf than meat and bland to boot. It was served with canned green beans, which I'm not necessarily averse to, and so-so mashed potatoes, probably instant. On the other hand, the "broasted" chicken, which is billed as a house specialty, was delicious. It's really just ordinary fried chicken, but very well executed. The breading was crisp and well seasoned -- not too thick and not too thin -- and the chicken underneath was moist and steaming hot. I ordered mine with a side of spaghetti topped with a tasty marinara sauce that was slightly sweet, but not objectionably so, and aggressively spiced (herbed?) with dried oregano. The noodles themselves were overcooked and tasted flat -- the water they were boiled in could've used more salt. Other entrees I haven't tried, like corned beef and cabbage and roast prime rib, looked awfully good on the plates of other patrons, who seemed to be enjoying them. Maybe next time... Prices are a bit steep -- I paid $20 (with tax but before the tip) for three pieces of chicken, the spaghetti, a small salad of iceberg lettuce, and a diet Coke. read more
