Whatever you do DO NOT take your animal here. I brought my dog there last week and I was told that she needed surgery. They charged $450 for labs, $2000 for a catscan and $8000 for surgery MONEY WAS DUE UP FRONT THE DAY OF. The doctor explained that my pup had an 80% chance of it being successful surgery. He did mention that it would be complicated but said there's he doesn't foresee any problems. Needless to say after spending $8000+ I didn't come home with my dog. They killed her. When the report came in after the fact the doctor said in the report he informed me that there was only a 50% chance of this being a successful surgery. They are liars. They do not care about your pets all they care about is the money. If you love your animal find another place to take them. RIP MY LITTLE PUP. read more

Set the cost aside, this IS a great place to go if it's the middle of the night where horror usually happens and if you know that your regular vet is just not specialized enough for the problem. The ER physicians that I would recommend are Dr. Zalcman, Dr. Cornell, and Dr. Goldberg(not that you can choose when it's ER) and Dr. Besseler and Dr. Bien(I think) whom I never saw but were patient and helpful in giving advise for the mean time over the phone when I was at a loss as to what to do. As per Internist, I would go with Dr. McGonigle. She is caring, knowledgeable, and will work things out with you. Now, onto the stars that I've taken off. One reason: the Cardiologist. Dr. Gentile is quite friendly to start off with, but she is the type that feels that a one sentence conclusion to you suffice for a 500 bucks echocardiogram visit. You will always have to initiate to get anything more out of her. When my cat was first admitted and discharged, I was recommended by the ER physician to meet with the cardiologist as she would be the one to best help us with his condition, so we did. We did so expecting to get more detail and advice from the cardiologist....we got none. She just stood there looking back at us and asked us what we would like to do today. She never went over the result of the echo, nor did she try to explain the disease or the long term aftercare. It was one question, one answer. We left feeling pointless for the $200 spent. And this is her at every meeting, every phone call. Secondly, I feel she is inexperience. Our cat was going in more and more frequently and the increase of dosage did not really help. He went from being able to recover to the point where his everyday was just a struggle to adjust his breathing and failure every 3 days. I've asked the cardiologist about different treatment plan because continuing the same way just did not work. She said no. That was the only plan. We finally decided to seek another cardiologist for a second opinion AND I AM SO THANKFUL THAT WE DID. The second cardiologist knew why we were going to her, drew up a different plan and went over it with us to further adjust it. THE NEW PLAN WORKED, worked so well now my cat happily regains his quality of life. I know that my cat's heart condition is non-typical and difficult to treat(so I was told over and over), but professionally I'm not too sure if Dr. Gentile is able to put together a different medication plan or different form of treatment when it's much needed and when it can change an animal's life. For this reason alone I would never see her again. Lastly, she lacks compassion and empathy. I understand it can be annoying for client to ask question repeatedly, but I hardly speak to her. We've only met twice, spoke over the phone a few times. After my cat's condition was announced to have advanced severely, she snapped twice at me over one phone call thinking I brought up matters discussed before. I know I had discussed certain things with other doctors to know each of their opinion and I don't care if they relayed those conversations to her. I don't think it's any way to treat your patient, especially one who felt so desperate with their pet's health. read more

Brought my 9 yr old cat to Blue Pearl in Forrest Hills after he was dropping to the ground as if he were having a stroke. We called our local Vet and because it was 11pm, the recommendation was Blue Pearl or another emergency vet center. Since we were closer to Blue Pearl, Forrest Hills, we rushed him in. After testing and testing, the resident doctor called to tell me at midnight that she had to do many, many other test to find out what the issue was. She spoke in medical terms and quite frankly I felt as if I were being set up for the BIG BILL!!! Well, I agreed thinking my cat was dying. The Dr. said they still couldn't see much wrong but that the cat was on IV and was dehydrated. So, we decided to leave him in the hospital for one more day. They kept telling us we needed to do more tests.....another set up! BE AWARE OF WHAT THEY ARE TESTING FOR!!!! OUR BILL WAS OVER $2,500!!! We went to pick up our cat and a woman came in with a dog that was hit by a car...the hysterical woman was being told they had to do numerous test to find out what happened to the dog. The verbage was the same....test, test,test...THE BIG SET-UP! These people are all out for the money and take advantage of people who love their animals. DO NOT USE THIS VET IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO. GO TO LONG ISLAND VETERINARY HOSPITAL IN PLAINVIEW. THEY LOVE ANIMALS AND DON'T SOAK YOU FOR YOUR MONEY. read more

I took my cat in to see the dermatologist. The doctor was great and I thought the staff were professional and efficient. The vet saw us five minutes after we got there, even though I was a little early. I was happy with the treatment options I was given and I liked the facility. The medical staff gave me a detailed printout with treatment and follow-up instructions, which they also emailed. There are a lot of comments here about cost, however, I didn't find the fees much higher than my regular vet, and I was seeing a specialist, so I expected that. Pet care is very expensive, especially if you don't have pet insurance. (Word to the wise: if at all possible, get insurance for your pet. It has saved me thousands of dollars.) read more

This is an update on my previous review. Dr. Levy finally called me on 6/23. He said that blue pearl manager Paul Miranda made him aware of my yelp review and that was the only time he was notified of my calls regarding my concern with my dog's health before he died. I'm very skeptical about his excuse. I hope blue pearl realize that if Dr. Levy called me back, my dog maybe alive today and able to be saved. However it's too late now. Paul Miranda called me today 6/24 and he said he will look into why my calls were not communicated to Dr. levy. I mean, wouldn't anyone want to talk to the person who operated on there love one if they have concern? I have a Record all the conversations I had with them to show as proof that they DID admit to their mistakes. It maybe useful to anyone who is considering going to blue pearl in the future. Also to prove that this is not a bogus review. Please avoid this place and really research where you take your pets specially when there is emergency. They really used a scare tactic on me to get my cat to stay overnight when he really didn't need to. Do yourself a favor, and only go to them in an "real" emergency. And, be aware that they will try to talk you into it being an emergency when it isn't. Elmhurst Animal Hospital is another option and they are more upfront. And this wasn't the first time I had been here...I had the same experience with them a few years ago with another pet. I would like to share an experience that I had with Blue Pearl in Forest Hills. Yea, while all of the comments of being a "pricey" establishment is true - you have to realize that this is a 24 hour - round the clock - hospital. HOSPITAL. It is not a mom and pa shop. They charge what they charge and they are very upfront with their prices. YOU can choose to stay and have your pet treated or NOT. The Staff: I cant say anything bad about anyone there. From the Vet Techs to the Vet. I felt that they are compassionate and very committed to giving the best possible care to the animals they treat. We brought our 7 year old Bull Mastiff in on Tuesday Night and they quickly diagnosed him with Kidney failure. After keeping our beloved over night on IV treatment, the vet stayed with us to explain our very minimal options and never rushed us when we decided that it was "that time" for him. The crew ave us plenty of time and space to say our goodbyes and I saw how choked up they got when the final moments approached. I feel that anyone who is takes their pet there will get an honest answer and in the end that is what we wanted. Thank you Blue Pearl. Our Buddy will forever remain in our hearts and I thank you for helping us to make a very hard decision a little bit easier. read more

They are cold hearted and they seem like they do not care about the animals but just about the money. They guy in the front desk is very rude. I really love this place. I went here after an unprofessional vet lied to me and told me that my dog was going to die and needed surgery that day. The kind, professional doctors at Blue Peral saw my dog very quickly. They took care of him like he was one of their own and I found out that he was not as sick as the other vet claimed. He had skin issues and would be well within a couple days. This place is clean, orderly, professional, just the best. I have taken my dog here again and they still treat him with the best care. I won't go anywhere else but here. They are AMAZING and I am very grateful to them. read more

I read through the reviews and am alarmed by the number of negative reviews, and if it were a medical emergency, based on the reviews, I would avoid this place like the plague. Unfortunately, my dog's situation was dire and we knew what had to be done. Our regular vet had made the diagnosis months earlier, and we were waiting for the time when we would need to end her suffering. Unfortunately it was late on a Sunday night, so I took my baby to Blue Pearl. Despite being in tears and visibly upset, the man at the front desk was cold, aloof, and kind of a jerk. Dude, if you can't muster up some compassion for people who are in crisis because their beloved pet is critically ill, don't work there. That said, once we were brought to the room to discuss our options with the clinical staff, the entire experience changed. The vet assistant was very sweet and kind, took care of my baby, and explained what needed to happen next. And the vet - I only wish I had been more coherent and actually caught her name so I could write an effusive letter to corporate about how wonderful she was. She went down on the floor with me and my pooch, listened to me ramble on, assured me I was doing what was best for my princess, didn't try to sell me on unnecessary and costly tests, and showed me such compassion that I will forever be grateful for her presence at one of the worst times in my life. My dog had gotten non-emergency specialty care there for glaucoma in the past, and the vets were competent, albeit expensive, but the care my dog and I received that awful Sunday evening is worthy of a full five stars - but the $700 bill I walked out with, along with the coldness of the desk staff, knocked this down to three stars. All in all, like any emergency animal center, you're dealing with young, fresh out of school vets and this was no exception. I was send to this animal hospital because my dog had a tumor in his eye I had the worst experience at this animal hospital in forest hills I dropped off my dog because he was going to have a Rhinoscopy and when I went back to pick up my dog he was bleeding a lot from his nose which they said was normal but what I didn't like was that instead of having a consultation in a room to discuss the results from the exam in a room they decided to give me my dog in front of everybody in the waiting room when my dog was bleeding from his nose and having to hear the terrible news and having everyone hear and looking was very uncomfortable experience I feel veterinary technician and veterinarian need to be more mindful of how we as owners feel about our pets you guys should love to do your job and make people feel comfortable because we see our pets as if they are our babies. Just because they are animals doesn't mean they should be treated like that as well as thinking about the way we as owners are feeling in being more considerate of our feels. You guys need to change in having the consultations in the rooms not in the waiting room read more

About a week ago (said in my best bobby shmurda voice) my 4 year old French Bulldog, Ladybug, was diagnosed with lymphoma. Within days of her diagnosis she became very ill; vomiting, having seizures, unable to walk, sometimes I was even unable to wake her from a sleep. I called my primary vet (also very good, Glendale Vet clinic) and they suggested I bring her to an oncologist, Dr. Lachowicz, at BluePearl. I was really scared, as I had a lot of experience with cancer in my family and my little ladybug means so much to me. Dr. Lachowicz was willing to see me almost immediately. Upon arrival, the location was very clean and I was greeted with a big hello and Ladybug received some love as well. My appointment started on time (which is RARE with most vets, am I right?) and Dr. Lachowicz spent over an hour explaining every option I had, potential side effects, cancer, her prognosis, etc. Within this hour, Dr. Lachowicz allowed me to ask a million and one questions and answered each with ease and understanding. He did not seem rushed and understood that all of this was a lot to take in. Meanwhile, Dr. Lachowicz was petting Ladybug and handing me tissues for my ugly crying. Dr. Lachowicz gave me some time to make my decision on next steps and then gave me additional information regarding cancer in dogs to read up on. I left feeling completely at ease. It doesn't end there... let me tell you... Dr. Lachowicz called me a few days later to check up on Ladybug! He spoke with me for a few minutes over the phone and I couldn't speak more highly of him. Lastly, today I brought Ladybug in for her weekly treatment. I dropped her off around 5:30am and the man there (I wish I knew his name) was so sweet. He pet Ladybug, greeted me nicely in the morning, and smiled when I embarrassingly handed him far too many things that she probably won't need (food, treats, a coat, blanket, etc- I'm a crazy dog-mom!) for the day. I have an Abyssinian cat who, at 9 years of age , developed "something"--my regular vet ( to whom I have never returned) had no idea what to do. She told me about Blue Pearl and I was desperate. Thank goodness I went! My baby had lymphoma and required the same kind of chemotherapy that I had had for breast cancer. The chemo was awful--he and I were both green after each round. However , he will be 13 in a few months and the lymphoma has not returned. I bless them every day when my beautiful baby wakes me up with nudges and kisses. read more

I am beyond impressed. On Feb. 1, 2012 I took my American Staffordshire Terrier to get a stomach ultrasound. I truly like Dr's Levy & Fernandez and the supervisor nurse Tammy are very professional. Dr. Fernandez got as much of my dog's history out of me that he could possibly get & Dr Levy reviewed all of the tests & xrays given to him by my dogs vet Dr Kirk. He suggested the very same treatment her doctor suggested and broke down the amount of financial expenses I would incur UP FRONT in two different columns so I could choose how much I was willing to spend and gave me a very clear choice for RESUSITATING or not should she have a severe reaction while on the operating table! This was a very big surprise and experience for me to see how far an amimal hospital has come in treating my family pet as a member of my family and treating her with respect and importance. They continially called me to keep me posted & to receive help when she became unruly. I am waiting for some remaining test results to come back & pray for god news. I hope I don't have to return to the hospital but if I have to , I would be very comfortable bring her here again. Yes, I read the reviews about the cost - is it pricey - yes - is the money spent worth giving my Shane a chance to beat his cancer? In my opinion, YES. You can't put a price tag on professionalism, compassion and top notch care when your pet needs it the most. My cat, Shane, was diagnosed with lymphoma and is going through chemo. When we spoke to Dr. Lachowicz about how to proceed, we told him that we also were using a holistic approach to enhance his immune system. Dr. Lachowicz backed this and has shown nothing short of compassion and concern for the well-being of Shane - following up each week with an e-mail or a phone call. I'm glad they exist since pets don't know how to get sick only during regular hours. I have used BluePearl twice in the last two years. The facility is clean and I find the staff knowledgeable though I did get the sense they were recommending expensive and unnecessary tests for my cat. For the most part I found the staff friendly though the vet I used could have been a little nicer but I guess that's just her personality. Let's face it, if your pet needs immediate care, there aren't many options except to use BluePearl or wait to go to your own vet. read more

I've been coming here since it opened with numerous pets through multiple services. Sure, there are some doctors I prefer to others but I never feel they're not doing right by my animals. Yes, they're expensive and that's what most of the bad reviews harp on. These are specialists and it's a 24 hour hospital- there is a lot of overhead. Honestly, look at your own medical bills before insurance and see how much of a bargain this truly is. If you have insurance on your pets, even the costs here are no big deal because you'll get reimbursed. The staff at the front desk is fantastic, every technician I've dealt with is wonderful (sadly it's mostly oncology technicians) and the doctors are great. I've mainly dealt with Dr. Lachowicz and Dr. Levy-- other doctors I've worked with are now sadly gone. I would not hesitate recommending this place and do often-- but yes, you will get sticker shock (still a lot cheaper than human medicine). Help yourself out and get your pet insurance before there is an issue and then you won't have to worry about cost. read more

After going to two different vets in order to steer clear of this place because of all the negative reviews, I was left with no other choice after needing an oncologist for my cat. I met with Dr. Lachowicz who was kind, compassionate, and understanding. He was soft-spoken and very knowledgable. We came to an inexpensive solution for my cat's lymphoma that we both felt comfortable with. A consultation with Dr Lachowicz costed $189 and in my opinion, he was well worth it. The front desk staff were very nice, as well as the two nurses who aided Dr. Lachowicz. It was an overall pleasant experience and I'm very happy with the service I received at Blue Pearl. read more

If I could give this vet negative stars I would. We are so disappointed with the treatment and lack of care our cat was given, and the way they disrespected our emotions during such a difficult time. We took our 3 year old cat here because he was showing signs of being blocked, which we had experienced prior to this cat and had to put that cat to sleep. It is a life threatening problem, and we knew all the signs after our last cat, promising to never let it happen to another one of our cats. Dr. Loren Easterwood told me he wasn't blocked and that I should take him home with painkillers to see if he could relieve himself with those because it was "bladder cystitis." He only got much, much worse because he was in fact blocked and in a great deal of pain. When we brought him back Dr. Christine Iacovetta told us that he was blocked and needed surgery. After our experience there, now we're wondering if they even did the surgery on him or just put an IV and catheter in him and called it a day. He was there for three days suffering, even after a re-catheterization. We had to make the suggestion to bring his own litterbox for his second recovery, and he was able to urinate a little bit with the comfort of his own scent. We also brought him his favorite blanket and toy, and they were going to send us home without his crate, blanket, or toys after euthanization. We had to ask to receive them all back. Considering they told us he had "debris" in his penis he should have gotten better and didn't. We loved this cat with all our hearts, and because of this vet we no longer have him. They also never told us that we wouldn't receive his ashes back, and that was our last straw with this place. We have been waiting a month for a call about our ashes, only to hear that we won't be receiving ashes because nobody told us we couldn't with the communal cremation. We had specifically told the man who helped us with the form that we wanted his ashes back, and he never told us that that option wouldn't get us them, after we had already paid for the procedure. We now have a $5,000 vet bill, no cat, and no ashes to even keep him with us. Never bring your pet to this vet. They are money hungry and they lie, and your pet is better off somewhere else. We feel so sorry for our poor baby that he had to suffer in their care, and we have so much regret for trusting them with him. read more

I found the vet medical care to be excellent but the communication between the doctor, the staff and the client was very poor. When my pet was transported to their Manhattan medical facility for testing, I was unable to find out basic facts as to when my pet was being transported, when it was tested, and when the testing was over. No staff member could give me any solid information. After my pet's return, I could not get in touch with the doctor for followup information. This place is too expensive to treat clients in this haphazard manner. read more

I'm so haPpy that I found this hospital! I don't know why I missed them when its just a short walk from me. The doctors & staff are amazing. They took care of my pooch immediately. My pet was hospitalized from another hosp for a week prior to taking him here in Bluepearl, he was seen 2x after post discharge by same hosp but he didn't improve & got worst. I took him here cause I read about the awesome reviews of pet owners here & I'm so glad I did! The hosp is really a real emergency hosp well equipped with very knowledgeable doctors & nurses. Yes, they have nurses! Within a few hrs my pet was seen by critical care specialist + cardiologist & got diagnosed & treated right away whereas the other hosp took a week misdiagnosed my pet & gave him unnecessary meds which made him worst! The staff is really friendly, encourages you to call for updates anytime & very open to questions & concerns. They will give you the quote for services rendered & have a plan for payment if you don't have insurance. They don't come cheap but it is expected for the quality of care they give you & the state of the art equipment they have. The place is very clean, big & calming which is very good to pet owners who freaks out & for pets who are feeling under the weather. God bless the staff who took care of my pet Lex, you guys are awesome. A special thank you to Dr. Bien, Dr. Gentile & Dr. Murphy. I wish they do regular vet visits too but they only do emergency care & specialist consult. Avoid like the plague! Misdiagnosis, cold staff, frightening ICU area! I took my dog Ella Block, a beautiful, loving, Boston Terrier there on Monday night 1/25/16. The big blizzard last year. I was referred by my new vet in the event she needed oxygen overnight. This vet gave her no oxygen though we were there over 5 hours! I later found out. She was panting, wheezing, and had vomited the night before, but I was unable to get transportation because of the blizzard. After she vomited she ate, and her nose was cold and wet-indicating she did not have a fever. The next day my vet was very optimistic of a recovery, but recommended Blue Pearl Forest Hills in the event for oxygen overnight. She thought she might have bacterial or allergic pneumonia. She did say her condition was critical, especially the next 24 hours. My vet ran every test she could to avoid my "paying Blue Pearl prices". Though she wasn't much less expensive. When I got there the front desk was rude, just looked at me until I spoke. I was in tears of course. The vet took 5 minutes max with me at first, my vet had called before with info, but I could not get a direct answer about the chest x-rays my vet sent over. I only saw the vet once after my dog was taken to the back. She just dismissed me with assurance of a call when they knew more, 2nd interaction 1 minute! No call until next am, when it was too late by a different vet, Dr. Tse; asking for $10k to put her on a ventilator to do a cat-scan. Other option euthanasia for $600! People appeared and disappeared, I didn't know who I was talking to half the time. Vet, assistant, finance? There was this salesy type liaison going back and forth, shoving estimates in front of me and pushing me for my credit card. I was hysterical with grief, my dog had been happy and playful 1 day before. They said as soon as I settled the bill! I could say goodnight to my baby! I never saw her again. It's one year after her death and I am in agony. My naivete and desperation during last year's blizzard lead me here via a new vet in new neighborhood. I understand now, vets are paid for their referrals to this hospital. My excellent original vet, recommended 2 other hospitals when I called for 2nd opinion. This new vet offered to share the ride to take her here, "you may not obtain transportation to those other hospitals in this storm".I should have known when this vet had the Uber driver drop her off first! My baby was in pulmonary arrest,needed oxygen! I can't even bear to tell the whole story, and the records I had to forcibly obtain! I have 2 other friends with pending court cases against this corporate chain. $3000 and 12 hours later she was gone. A boston terrier only 10 years old. Avoid at all costs! They are more expensive anyway! Best vet clinic ever, "Paws and Claws", N. 9th St., Williamsburg,Brooklyn 11211. Dr. Bregmann. Saved the lives of 2 pets. No price gauging, offers self-financing, altruistic! His referrals were Brooklyn Emergency Vet Hospital or Manhattan Emergency! I have such regret, I should have taken her elsewhere. If you love your pet, please do not bring it to Blue Pearl. All they care about is money. And they will charge you astronomical fees and your pet will be in grave danger if it's really sick. They take advantage of people whose pets become ill at night so there are limited places to go. There's another option off Exit 40 on the LIE. Please go there instead. Don't learn the hard way like I did. I trusted them, paid them a fortune for approx. 6 hrs. of care (blood work and fluids) and they almost killed my cat. If I hadn't taken my cat out of there & gotten him to my regular vet in the morning, my cat would have died. When I asked them to do the right thing and at the very least return half of my money, the Manager, Paul (who refused to give me his last name or the number of his supervisor at the corporate level) talked in circles and claimed that my cat didn't have the problems he had in their care that my own vet detected within 5 minutes. I took the cat directly to my own vet from Blue Pearl so at the most it was a 30 minute time span...you mean the cat suddenly developed a urinary tract blockage in 30 minutes? They told me his kidneys were failing & he was probably born with the problem. They suggested several times that he was a candidate for kidney dialysis which could be performed at their Manhattan facility which would cost $5,000-$10,000 to start. My regular vet unblocked my cat & he was home again in 5 days. Please, take my advice & go anywhere but here. read more

Take your pet somewhere else. I went to the queens location for dermatology care and they managed to rack up my bill as quickly as they could. The first thing they had me do was sign a piece a paper saying I was ok with paying 189 for the consult and addition costs for testing if needed. The vet acknowledged that she had "skimmed" my dogs history sent over from our local vet about her 1 year long battle with a skin problem. Four times the cost for a visit to my local vet and THEY DONT EVEN THOROUGHLY READ HER FILE!! Having read the file she would have known that my dog had a skin scrape two weeks earlier and I wouldn't have paid the 200 plus dollars for it again. They threw something on the bill that they had not even run by me ( a skin wash), their prescriptions are almost double the cost of other vets and they tried to stick me with the test costs because I had "pre-authorized" them by signing. In my eyes, even if I'm ok with doing what's necessary for my pet, you still have to ask me in person if I want to go forward with a procedure. My partner and I took our 7 year old Brussels Griffon to see Dr. Levy after receiving stellar reviews from our vet. Our dog had an elongated palate and required surgery. Dr. Levy assured us he could correct this surgically. Our dog was sent home post-surgery with a fentanyl patch so high he couldn't walk on his own, he urinated all over himself and had a rash across his chest. Despite several calls/emails to the office, they were not answered. A few months later our dog was making the same exact labored breathing sounds that prompted us to rush him to the Animal Medical Center in Manhattan where they emergently had to repeat the same palate trimming surgery. In the OR, the AMC surgeon called us to say he couldn't see any evidence that the palate had been trimmed previously and ended up having to remove substantial tissue. We contacted Blue Pearl, in good faith, to discuss why our dog required a second, drastically more substantial, surgery. The "office manager" contacted us and provided us with a 10% reduction offer in exchange for our silence on social media. When we responded with our disagreement they simply stopped responding to our inquiries. Although I read the reviews and knew it was a bad idea to bring my pet to this hospital, she needed immediate medical attention and I did not have a choice. They are money hungry and not out for the well being of the animal. Who wouldnt pay top dollar to save their pet's life? These people feed off the weakness of pet owners because they know pet lovers are at their mercy. Not only did they not diagnose my pet, she is still sick and suffering hundreds of dollars later. I would not recommend! Drive a little further to an animal hospital that cares about your beloved pet. You cannot find Ali A. in your database because the cat is under my husband's name. Instead of looking in the database for my name maybe you should review medical records and standards of care in order to ensure animals do not suffer under the care of your unethical unprofessional staff members! My dog had a reaction to an ointment from another vet. If that BP Vet had a good eye and could see that it was a simple emergency problem, instead of trying to order diagnostic tests, etc, this review would not have happened. But you don't have experienced emergency vets there and I came in for a rash and "blister," on my babies private part. It's GONE. No need to take her in the back and stress her out Paul. Like I told you, I would not step foot in your place again. Maybe, like I've told you before, your vets need to listen to the history of the owner. My dog is perfectly healthy. I healed the rash and blister myself. I want the best care for her and always want to be present for exams, etc. You are not going have your vet learn from my dog. You are supposed to be an emergency hospital. There was no "underlying problem," other than a BUG BITE. Try to change your practice because no other place drags your dog in the back and stresses them out to do what they want. Underlying problem? I take my pooch regularly to get her blood tests. She's fine. What underlying problem is required other than to listen to the owner/mom and treat the bug bite allergy and leave the blister alone! Your vet wanted to aspirate a blister??? Not right at all. Sorry, like I told you we will never step foot at FH Blue Pearl or any Blue Pearl again. I just wanted her to be out of her discomfort, not cause more discomfort with an aspiration of a blister! People need to know how to be smart at a vet's office and emergency room. read more

So when I called the girl was very very caring and understanding and told me to come right in! When I got there with my dog the front desk staff welcomed me and my snow said hi to me and her ! Asked her name and then took me right in the room and said a nurse will be right with u, and gave me some forms to fill out . When the nurse came in it was another wonderful warm welcome and concern face. She was very informative and friendly with my dog. She let us know the doctor would come in next. Not even 5 mins later the doctor walked in introduced herself and proceeded to exam my dog she explained what was going on and my options. She allowed me some time to think over it and gave me the price to both options . The doctor was very informative and professional but no smiles , I guess that was ok I was just worried about my dog. A different nurse came in after very warming as they all were gave me papers gave my snow a shot came right back with her and I was out the door, front desk checked me out in about 2-5 mins. These people were probably the worst people I've ever met in my life. I was referred to this place (can't even call it what it is... Just terrible.) from my sweet dog's vet of 14 years. She was having trouble breathing and I was told to bring her in to keep her through the night. As soon as I brought her in, they were all business. They pushed a form in front of me to sign or they will not even look at her. I signed and had her "stabilized" so instead of having someone who can treat her, they were just going to watch her overnight. At 2 am we got a call that she has taken a turn for the worse. We rushed down there to say our goodbyes. They had told us that they would call us the next day to settle the bill. Of course they never called and when we did call on Monday, they didn't return the call till Wednesday night. They asked that we come in to sign off on some papers since we decided to use their "care credit" which was approved no problem. Once I got in there and they asked me to speak to a person named Paul. He was all business and just completely rude. I mean i just lost my dog a few days ago and they had me waiting for half an hour in the last place I saw my dog before anyone would talk to me. Then Paul continued to talk to me as if he was a debt collector. Started badgering me about the costs and spoke as if it was just so matter of fact. I know that these people work in this business all the time but do they not have a shred of emotion? I signed everything I was supposed to sign and at the end they said oh this one has to be signed by your mother since the care credit is under her name, I said it's fine, I can bring her in and in the end they just took a forgery since they wanted their money faster. In the end they said "next time bring the person that u have the credit under" I was thinking that they could've said sorry for your loss or something along those lines but their last sentence to me stuck out since I HAVE NO DOG TO BRING BACK YOU HEARTLESS BASTARDS!!!! read more

Just a cautionary tale.The vet "specialist" we went to see was very nice. However, there was no mention of the price of procedures until I very specifically asked. My impression was this business was just that: a business looking to make as much money as possible. When I left I felt like they were all just seeing dollar signs over my head. I have a superb primary veterinarian and maybe I am spoiled but I feel like I am part of a family whenever I walk into their office. I cannot explain the feeling of hopelessness I felt after being informed of the cost of treatment and knowing that I would not be able or willing to pay tens of thousands of dollars to extend the life of my older, very loved pet (we never expected quotes that high). It was an awful moment to feel like there are no other options, until I remembered there are always other options.Maybe I am old school, I believe when you go into health care(any kind) its not all about the money, and I am so relieved to find there are many reputable organizations that feel the same way! I will never go back. I would never recommend. As for those reviews that are saying prices are in line: I am so glad I don't use your vets, got a second opinion just for surgery(and although I will state it was to remove 2 out of the 3 items originally quoted) it was $5,000.00 less. Do your homework, do your research and shop around! read more

This review is more than 2 years overdue... I've been meaning to write it but I was busy enjoying my pup :) Veterinary care is expensive. Emergency veterinary care is astronomically expensive. If you didn't know this, you shouldn't have a pet. My dog was run over by an animal driving a car (animal because he didn't stop) and presented to BluePearl, formerly known as NYC Veterinary Specialists, with: internal bleeding, broken front and back left legs, swollen brain, seizures, a fever and a few other things. On admission we met Dr Pacifico who was very honest and told us despite being a young pup, his chances were very slim. She told us it was completely understandable if we chose to put him down. We decided to give him at least a day, after all, you don't give up on family that easily. On his second day at the hospital we met Dr Eriksson (doctors rotate between their locations) or as we nicknamed him Dr. McAwesome. He was amazingly supportive and empathetic with us. My dog's recovery was a roller coaster, something would get better while new complications came up daily but we dealt with them as they came and trusted the doctors and staff 100%. On the 5th day we were called to meet with Dr. Levy, the surgeon to discuss the operation on his front and back leg. We went in having decided we weren't ready for the operation and wanted to give him more days to recuperate. We came out 100% confident he should be operated the next day... Dr. Levy knows his stuff, he's not as charming as McAwesome but the guys is a pro. Two days after the surgery my pup was sent home. It was a long recovery and months of paying back CreditCare but it was worth it! It took weeks before he walked on his own, barked and wagged his tail but if you see my pup today you wouldn't guess what he has been through. Ultimately we changed regular vets, after dealing with the level of care and devotion and professionalism at BluePearl we couldn't settle for crappy service. His new vet wasn't able to tell he had metal plates in his front left leg and metal rods in his back left leg, when we told her what happened and where he was hospitalized she immediately said "Dr. Levy did it right?"... They are good, even their vet techs. After a short conversation with one of them where we told her my pup enjoyed carrots, she went and bought him a bag of carrots knowing he wasn't healthy enough to eat it but wanted to help him remember the smell and the familiarity connected to it... Who does that?! She never let us pay her back. They aren't cheap but they ARE angels with veterinary degrees. read more

Needing an emergency vet visit on a Sunday afternoon led me to this facility for my elderly cat after several days of not feeling or looking well. I can't speak for the general medicine and specialty services of this facility so I will only comment on the emergency services which I utilized. The place itself looks very clean. Front desk staff are very friendly, informative and helpful. Over the phone they are up front about the basic fee for the physical exam and informed me about other possible charges. Upon arriving there I was taken to an exam room within 5 minutes and seen by a tech right away. Shortly after my cat was seen by a vet, physical exam was done and the vet sat down with me and verbally explained what he thought was going on, what might be going on, what I could/should do today and what I should do in the future for follow up and what to consider. I was given several different options to handle my cats situation, and a detailed breakdown of the bill was provided for each option. Now I need to say that I'm used to my regular vet who is on the cheap side to begin with and also gives me a multiple-pet discount. The charges for the services at this facility were more than the charges at my local vet (the charges I can compare fairly are the charges for blood work and medicine). I'm not sure how it compares to other similar facilities but I thought they were a little on the expensive side, but not unreasonable. I was given a cheaper option for treatment which was the one I chose. Every staff member I encountered was absolutely friendly, kind and very loving towards my animal. I trusted the vets judgement and would not hesitate bringing my cat or other pets back here for an ER visit. read more

So impressed with the service here! I went in on Sunday, 4/10. After taking my puppy (Bichon Frise, 3 years old) to get her vaccinations at Lefferts Animal Hospital, she developed an allergic reaction. Her eyes began to swell and I got so scared. I called Lefferts Animal Hospital and they were so rude to me. The receptionist said they were closing up. I hung up right away. How can they not care for my baby's emergency? Right away, I called Blue Pearl. I believe the woman I spoke to was named Darlene. She was so calm and knowledgable. She explained that these things happen and that I should bring Bella in right away. What a difference from the receptionist at LAH! I brought Bella in and she was seen right away!! Dr. W ( can't remember his name) was so professional and cool! Really great with Bella. He was seeing a couple different dogs at the same time but he said he rushed in because he heard she was having an allergic reaction. They gave Bella Benadryl and right away her eyes went down. She felt so much better! We were all set to leave within an hour and a half. He emailed over instructions for Bella as well. I can't thank you guys enough, especially Dr. W and Darlene.
