Took a day trip to Catalina and this was our first stop for lunch. Our party of 5 was seated right away around 11:30 am on a Monday. The outside seating is absolutely beautiful. We were able to get a table right on the water and overlooked the entire bay as we ate. Note: They only serve bottled water due to a water shortage and I believe it's $1.50 per bottle. For appetizers, we got the Crispy Calamari ($21) and Baked Crab and Artichoke Dip ($20.50). The calamari was fried perfectly and so tender. The dip was really flavorful but the chips were a little too oily. To share, we got the Sautéed Sanddabs ($28), San Francisco Cioppino ($40), Beer-Battered Fish & Chips ($26), and New York Strip ($46). The sanddabs were cooked perfectly and so flavorful. The Cioppino was full of fresh seafood with a good variety. The fish in the fish and chips were pretty small and the steak was standard. Service was amazing the entire time so that's always a plus!

I loved this restaurant! We had a waterfront view of Catalina Bay. The food was exactly what we were craving. My phone died before I could get pictures, but we all got fish and chips. They were crunchy, tasty, and flaky all at the same time. We came away happy campers, happy bellies. Price wise, it was moderate -- but expected when you take into account that most of the produce and food is shipped in. Service was excellent, we were well taken care of by the staff.

Was super excited to get some seafood while visiting Catalina and we scored at Bluewater! The patio was absolutely lovely. Great views, and well shaded. I love that they have a very healthy kids menu that comes with crayons and some fun activities. We started with some drinks and oysters. The oysters were delicious and fresh! My drink was OK, it didn't taste that strong but it came with a shrimp in it which is fun! My son's lunch was pretty epic. It came in a bento box with veggies, fruit, a big grilled cheese and choice of juice. My husband and I split the fisherman's basket but I wasn't aware they charge you more to split plates. That's a bummer. Loved all the seafood the dish included and it's definitely enough for two people to split, you're just going to pay more if you do. Service was good, so no complaints there. I would return next time I am visiting! There was a line forming before the place even opened so I imagine it can get pretty busy. A great spot if you are a seafood and outdoor dining lover!

We went to Bluewater Grill on Catalina Island for my birthday at the end of April, and overall I would say it was a good experience. The atmosphere was probably my favorite part. We sat outside with a really nice view, the weather was warm and pleasant, and overall it just felt like a very relaxing birthday dinner by the water. We both ordered fish, and it was good. Nothing super unique or unforgettable, but definitely tasty. The oysters were also fresh and really enjoyable. The only thing that felt a little off was the service. The food took a while to come out, and different servers kept coming to the table, which made things a bit confusing at times and caused some mix-ups with our order. But overall, we still left with a good impression. They even brought out a birthday dessert for me at the end, which was a nice touch. I'd say it's a solid 4 stars for me. Not perfect, but definitely a nice spot if you're visiting Catalina.

Service 5/5 -We came on a Thursday night so not busy, staff was friendly and efficient. Our table was constantly checked up on and food came out quick. Food 5/5 -Complimentsry sourdough bread and butter, warm bread with crisp outside and softness inside, no notes -Clam chowder $12, rich and creamy, great for dipping the bread in -Gemelli pasta w/ shrimp & scallops $33, pesto sauce was cream and fragrant, pasta was al dente with generous amount of decent size shrimp and 2 scallops. Great taste and portion size, no notes. -Rainbow trout amandine $29, everything was cooked correctly, fish and potatoes and green beans were all delicious, great taste and portion side, do wish the trout came without the skin. -I wish refillable water in glasses was an available option, instead of only bottled water. Ambiance 5/5 -Great view from both indoor and outdoor being right next to the water, heaters are available for outdoor seating.

We arrived at Bluewater Grill around 5-ish, just before the dinner rush, and requested patio seating. They immediately walked us over to a side patio overlooking the ocean--honestly the perfect setup for those early evening, golden hour views. As the sun started to set and the chill rolled in, the staff brought out patio heaters, which made a big difference and kept things really comfortable. We started with the calamari, which was light, crispy, and not greasy at all. I loved that it came with a sweet Thai chili sauce instead of the usual marinara--it felt like a nice upgrade. My husband and I split the lobster roll (served warm), and I opted for the scalloped potatoes instead of fries--so glad I did, they were rich and flavorful and easily a standout. We wrapped up with a cocktail and a glass of wine, which felt like the perfect way to end the night. Service throughout was friendly, quick, and super efficient without feeling rushed. Overall, a great dinner spot in Avalon with a view that really elevates the whole experience.

Food was delicious! The oysters tasted so fresh and the clam chowder tasted very authentic. It was a busy day but they were able to seat us quickly. The views were gorgeous as we were able to relax and look at the water. The service was just okay, they didn't really check on us very often and it was hard to get their attention. They had a lot of bees flying around in the restaurant which was really annoying while we were trying to enjoy our meal.

Came here with no knowledge of the island or its best eateries. Wow! The clam chowder? Best I've had, probably ever. The salmon was cooked perfectly, the potatoes seasoned and delicious, my husband had a burger and fish and chips. Everything exceeded expectations, including the margaritas (the coconut one, especially) We loved it so much we came 2x in a 24hr period We will absolutely be coming back on our next trip to the island.

Our first visit to Catalina Island and we were so glad to have dined at this water front restaurant and it completed our trip! Seafood themed meals. It's almost 6pm, the sun was setting, our returning ferry was 90 min away, we were looking for a dinner place before heading home after a long day on the island. This restaurant was recommended by ChatGPT, LOL, because it did our one-day-trip itinerary. We were pleasantly surprised. We were seated on the patio by the water, the Catalina casino is within sight and a man was swimming in the clear sea water just meters away. We ordered the signature salad and the Cioppino, we loved both dishes! Busy place, but large venue.

Great place to eat if you're in Avalon, California. We got there when the restaurant opened so the weight staff was ready to go. We've got seated immediately since we were the second party in line. We sat right on the water great view of the harbor and casino. The Harbour and views transport you to a Mediterranean Oceanside Village. We ordered two lobster rolls, one hot and one cold. They were very good. I always recommend getting a warm lobster roll. Serve served with melted butter. You really match the taste of the lobster on the bread smothered with butter. I ordered a Coke, but my partner ordered the Arnold Palmer. I tried her on a Palmer and regretted my decision of the Coke.

Had lunch at Bluewater Avalon. The lobster roll was below average -- the lobster good, but the roll lacked flavor. The fish and chips were decent, the tacos were good, and the oysters were fresh and excellent, definitely the highlight of the meal. The calamari and clam chowder were just ok. Overall, I'd still come back again, especially for the oysters and sourdough bread. Overall 3 stars

    San Francisco cioppino - Delicious!
    K M.

Visiting Catalina & not eating at Bluewater should probably require signing a waiver to acknowledge poor life choices. The Cioppino - if Neptune opened a kitchen, this would definitely be on the menu! Rich tomato broth, load of fresh seafood, garlic toast & not a single disappointing bite. Bluewater absolutely nailed the cioppino, seafood, service & beautiful bay side ambiance.

We showed up on the island on a Saturday afternoon and decided to go here for dinner. How can you resist the Oceanfront seating. Luckily, we were able to get in and sit on the patio. The crab and artichoke is to die for! I really enjoyed their sanddabs as well. Service was on point. They have great bread and great drinks. Try the buffalo milk you won't regret it.

The ambiance is perfect but foods are really bad. $18 for ridiculous salad. Never eat in here. Just drink some wine by the ocean.

You get a hat or sticker with it, and we weren't asked which one we preferred. The strength is similar to a long island, due to the mix of rum and brandy. Her service was spot on. The Cons The side salad was nothing special and I thought a bit over priced at $10. Now on to the lobster "roll." We fully expected to pay more due to the fact that this a touristy place and is on an island. For $34, what we got was a whole lot of disappointment. First of all, the portion you get is nothing close to what a usual lobster roll should look like. The Taragon sauce they sauce they put on it overpowers the lobster. The worst part is the quality of the lobster meat they use. When asked where the lobster comes from, I was promptly told Maine. We live on the east coast and are from the northeast. When I pressed the waitress, she admitted they use knuckle meat not the tail or whole claw. Still not buying it. In both my husband's and my roll there were langostino tails mixed in. When I flat out asked our server, she nodded. That is a huge misrepresentation of the food they're serving and certainly no one would pay $34 for that substitution.
