I am definitely a seafood snob, no really! I was the first mate on a charter boat off of Long Island, NY. Don't argue with me, I know good fish, fresh fish. There are some restaurants in let's say Scottsdale, that charge outlandish amounts of money for poor quality fish. Their name rhymes with Muck and Cider, but I'll save that for another review. Bluewater Grill's fish is fresh, cooked to perfection, and seasoned perfectly. I've eaten there 4 or 5 times and the quality is consistent. I don't know how they do it, maybe they are magical, who knows. The service is great, fast to greet, fast to take the order. The atmosphere is casual with a sitting bar on one side and a sushi bar on the other. I have not had the sushi yet. Next time... stay tuned! Dedra approved! Didn't realize how busy it gotten for early dinner on a Friday. There were so many great choices. Among the 3, there's no limit on food as long as we can enjoy it. For appetizers we had New England Clam chowder which my 6yr old enjoyed. Husband ordered Tuna tartare, looked fancy but was not I was not into the toast and Spicy Tuna roll w/ Sashimi which was surprisingly pleasant, as well as, some raw oysters. My 6yr old ordered from the main menu of fish and chips better than the sticks on the kids menu. It was soft and flaky and a good size. I had the Rainbow Trout Amandine crusted with almonds and the lemon butter was a great topping. The potatoes were real good. Topped it off with Crème Brûlée and Bread pudding. The atmosphere was nice enough that I can still be casual. Unfortunately, one thing that was upsetting is that Happy Hour is only at the bar half of the restaurant not the other side of the dining area. Fresh, fresh, fresh! Everything was was fresh. Nothing like going into a seafood restaurant and getting fresh seafood. Delicious in flavor and reasonably priced. I hadn't had sushi in a while, but I decided to try the Las Vegas Roll because I was starving and wanted something quick. My waiter Mitchell asked me if I liked Wasabi. I told him yes and he asks if I've had "fresh" Wasabi before. I asked what's fresh Wasabi. He explains that Bluewater Grill has a fresh Wasabi that is like a relish because it has diced Horseradish in it. He mentioned that it's an extra charge of $2 but it's worth it. So I tried it because I love new food experiences and I must say it was a big difference. I also had to ask about the typical Wasabi that is served at most sushi restaurants...how is that made since this one is literally like a relish. He explained that the traditional Wasabi is more powder based. So not only did I enjoy my food I had a lesson on Wasabi that I will take with me on other ventures. read more

We were greeted at the door and immediately felt welcome! We went during happy hour and ordered the calamari and crab dip. They came out pretty quickly. Then the rest of our party arrived and they ordered California roll and Firecracker Shrimp. All the appetizers tasted great and were warm. This next part is where things get even more exciting. Everyone in my party decided to order a different fish. We order the Salmon, Swordfish, Mahi Mahi and the Halibut... Every Single Fish dish was AMAZING! We started playing musical plates so everyone can get a taste of the fish. The wait staff was pleasant and patient. This has definitely become my go-to spot for grilled fish. read more

Started off with sourdough bread and butter and gosh that was so good. Our waiter asked if we wanted more and I probably would've said yes if I wasn't trying to save room for the entrees. For the appetizer, I chose to get the Seared Tuna Ahi Sesame crusted with asian slaw, ponzu and wasabi and it was the perfect starter to our meal. For my entree, I ordered the Rainbow Trout crusted with toasted almonds and sautéed, served with scalloped potatoes and sautéed vegetables (asparagus). The fish didn't have much flavor so I topped it with the capers that came on the side and that added to it. Loved the scalloped potatoes (can't go wrong with any type of potatoes) and the veggies were delicious. I tasted the Cajun Grilled Mahi Mahi, which was topped with mango salsa and served with fingerling potatoes and grilled asparagus and thought it was tasty. Dessert options sounded delicious but we opted out due to being full. This was a great place for a nice dinner out and I'd love to come back and try more from their menu! This was our first time coming here, we were celebrating my upcoming birthday. My son and I shared the Senorita roll, it was pretty good, I had the Maine Steamed Lobster, it was my first time having a full lobster I have only ever had the tail. It was good, the green beans were a little tough, scalloped potatoes were good. My son ordered the shrimp linguine which is not even on the menu but he was really wanting a pasta and shrimp dish and the waiter said it was something that used to be on the menu and they could whip it up for him which I thought was really cool of them. My husband ordered the blackened halibut and he really enjoyed the dish, the fish was a good size. My mom ordered the lobster roll, and a bowl of clam chowder she really liked the chowder. My dad had the platter which comes with shrimp fish and scallops but my dad does not like scallops so he was able to switch that out for shrimp. We all enjoyed our food. I received a complimentary birthday dessert the crème brûlée. The service was excellent. We liked the atmosphere it feels very open and welcoming. We would definitely come back. read more

My downfall was trying to compare this to the location in Carlsbad CA. Because it is the same restaurant and a chain, I expected it to be very similar. However, this location here my husband and I tried, and the crabcakes were smaller, this shrimp dry. The service was also poor. We felt like we were nothing but an inconvenience. The new location is absolutely gorgeous. We stopped in for an early lunch, so it was pretty quiet too. I had the tuna melt and hubs had a cup of NE Clam chowder and a shrimp Louie salad. He LOVED the soup, salad was ok- although, to be fair, he only ordered it because his dad always ordered it- he'd never tried it before. My tuna melt was fantastic- nice and hot with a roasted tomato- yum. It's for a hearty appetite; so I shared 1/2 with him too. Excellent service! read more

I use to drive by this restaurant when they were located off of Camelback Road and always wanted to try them. Thanks to a friend, I was able to experience it finally. Their new location is 16th Street & Bethany Road. We had reservations and were immediately greeted and seated over to a comfy booth. For a starter, we ordered the calamari served with two different sauces. That Calamari was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. It included two dipping sauces but my favorite was the sweet chili sauce. For our main course, I ordered the lobster tail with broccolini and coconut rice while my friend ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon. Presentation for both dishes were great. The lobster tail dipped in the butter was absolutely perfection with both side dishes to accompany the flavor. I only had a taste of the salmon but let me tell you that salmon glaze was everything! This restaurant was definitely worth the wait and did not disappoint my taste buds! read more

Lovely spot. Had never been here before and we went to the old location but soon we realized they had moved. Google maps to the rescue. The atmosphere was amazing and food was tasty and flavorful. Our server was good, but seemed busy and was tad bit hard to find him, which we understood. For appetizers we ordered the crab cakes, that was a wonderful, tasty and delicious. The sauces that came with it complemented it very well. For entrees we ordered the full barramundi fish. Which was ugly to look at but wow, the flavors were well pour together with the spinach stuffing. Our other entree was the cod fish and chips, which was also amazing and tasty. My wife and I love this place and we decided to grab dinner since we were going to be next door a Total Wine. Imagine our surprise when we arrived at Total Wine only to see the old Bluewater building was gone. Thankfully we quickly figured out that they had moved to a new location about a mile north. We arrived in time for happy hour and took advantage of the oysters and margarita deals. We also ordered some chowder and octopus. We always loved the chowder here. We went for Sunday HH two weeks in a row and plan to go every Sunday as our new go-to HH place. The food specials are great and pretty generous for HH food. I didn't care for the mussels (I prefer them basic steamed with broth, not sauce) but the clam chowder was the best I've ever had. The sushi and nigiri were also good, and the firecracker shrimp was very tasty and a large portion. Sourdough bread to start is a really nice beginning. Miles is a very attentive barkeeper and will take good care of you. The bar seating is very comfortable and has booths as well as our preferred barstools. We plan to make our way through the HH menu and will take our guests there for dinner, as we are fairly light eaters. Good music, too! Enjoy! read more
