Have dined here alot as it is my husbands favorite for clam chowder in the area. Today we had lunch and were quiet disappointed. Three out of the four of us had clam chowder all of which was luke warm and best, one had a bay leaf it it and no real taste of clams. Two in the party had burgers which were again barely warm, no taste and the bun was much to large for the size of the burger. Fries which were served with it were also cold. I had the fish tacos which I have a lot and although they tasted fine the fish pieces did not even fill the taco shell. Dissapointed We revisited the restaurant this past week. There were only two of us at this visit. We both ordered hamburgers. We ordered them medium well (I know that's crazy but I do not like raw hamburger) and they were much better than our last visit but they were quite well to the point of charred around the edge (maybe our fault?) Other than that the rest of the meal was fine and service was great. read more

I flew over from the Bay Area just to check it out. The weather was cold and I thought it would not be crowded. Was a little amazed at the number of people big and little. But I came here for the food, which I enjoyed. The chowder was pipping hot and very warming. fish and chips with prawns Nicely done, truffle fries chrisp. Their water is one of the best in Northern California. What brand I do not know. The wait staff was very patient with the youngsters. May show up with my crowd Excellent views and The dinner menu deserves a trip back next summer. Oh, I forgot the Slaw, slightly sweet and crunchy. Let me start by saying the view from the bar/eating area is great and service was good. I selected the fried fish tacos that were good and the side salad was delicious. My wife and I elected to have lunch today at this place but we will NOT be coming back to eat. To begin, there was a nice gent whom was bar tending by the name Dave and he was also taking orders for all food and cleaning all the tables. ( 1 man crew) They were shorthanded since there were quite a few people dining there so service was very slow. The atmosphere was great since it had a beautiful view. I ordered the Caesar salad with prawns and due to the recall with Romaine lettuce, they had to substitute with iceberg lettuce. You would think that since iceberg lettuce is the least expensive and bottom of the barrel, they would have at least included more prawns but it was limited. My wife ordered the Veggie Napolean and it was watery. They did not properly drain the spinach and the portobella mushroom was soggie. A HUGE disappointment and for what we paid, i could have had a better meal at Denny's easily and taken 4 people out. read more

Well, it was howling windy outside as we made the turn and decided to head into the restaurant. My buddy owns a beautiful house on the 10th green, and we had golf fever. After the turn, we decided to warm up inside. Little did we know how chilly it was inside this fairway restaurant. The place seemed inviting. Unfortunately the female blonde bartender has a terrible attitude towards us and it seems customers in general. After she scowled at us for what we ordered to drink, she then decided to challenge us and be confrontational. It seemed in her personality and the redhead comment to be careful with her. I understand that the power can sometimes get to folks behind the bar, but never forget where your paycheck comes from. After she took our lunch order, the food came out fine with one exception. I ordered a Cobb salad which literally had a rotten, soggy, mushy and slimy sliced boiled egg. I asked little miss sassy if she could come help us. She dismissed us, and said we needed to wait. Ok. I said," well ok, but there is a rotten egg in my salad". Immediately I gained her attention as she quickly came back with her smug attitude. Needless to say, I said that I ingested the rotten egg and that the cook should try to eat it. She asked if we still wanted the salad. With Rotten egg on it? Seriously..... Maybe you would like to finish it. Take it back and you and the chef can enjoy your treat. It could have been resolved in a professional manner without the attitude for a simple complaint. There are a lot of other people within a company and organization. They just need to address the problem and correct it for customers to be happy. And we're walking..... read more

We drove down to Bodega Bay from Sebastopol and most of the restaurants were not open for lunch so we ended up here. The view was four stars, the food was four stars, the bar area was two stars, and the service was one star. We moved to the bar after sitting at a table for 10 minutes without being acknowledged. Both a bartender and waitress were working and there were open tables, but they both seemed slammed. Even after we moved to the bar, service was slow and impersonal. Any future visits to Bodega will definitely be after 5pm so we can dine somewhere else! read more

When you spend $350 for eight people two of whom were under age and not drinking, one would expect the food and service to better than average. We had to wait more than ten minutes just to be greeted after we sat down ourselves. And it only got worse as the night wore on. The calamari was undercooked, the cheese plate was fine but sparse, the manhattans that three adults ordered were not up to their standard. The main dishes offered (there were no specials because they had a private party and I imagine the chef needed to keep things simple for the rest of us...) were average. The salmon dish with local fresh vegetables were nothing to write home about. The salmon was dry and overcooked. The vegetables (all four of them) were ok. The two youngsters ordered the brownie and both said they make tastier brownies at home. So the bill comes (I had to request twice to get the check and then we had to take the bill to them to process) and I am informed that the 18% gratuity was already included and they added it after tax adding another $6 to the bill. None of which I complained. If you are going to come here, call ahead and find out if there is any larger parties that will take the energy and effort of wait staff. I would suggest going somewhere else as I probably wouldn't come back after last night. Shame on management for not having enough people to handle the customers. Very disappointed... read more

Came here on a weekday w one of my teenagers. Beautiful location w a great view of the beach and sea. Lovely server Ericka was as pleasant as could be. Welcomed us. Prompt w menus and drinks. Answered questions. Checked w chef re food allergy question. Food was great! Daughter had burger and a Salad and I had fish tacos--grilled. Glad to have found this little lovely spot! Now must come back for a Bloody Mary some weekend. Looks like they have some live music and even comedy shows. Loved it! read more

Came here to have what I thought would be a lovely brunch with lovely views of the bay. First impression was great customer service, however throughout our meal, we're constantly being looked at by the servers asked several times if we needed anything else & eventually asked if we needed a box. This was all within a 10 minute time frame! We weren't exactly eating at a slow pace, however they were more worried about their guests waiting to be seated than about us enjoying our brunch. I didn't feel like finishing my food since I felt we were being rushed and felt uncomfortable. TERRIBLE SERVICE. Hopefully they learn from this review- to treat all their patrons fairly and equally. Made reservations ahead of time, including a request for a high chair. We were seated in a tiny tight noisy corner right next to the bar with tables all around. There was a table of 4 available when we were seated, which they ended up giving to a party of 2, yet the 3 of us get the tiny table. Unreal. Took one look at the food being served around us and it confirmed our decision to walk right out and take our Thanksgiving Day business to John Ash & Co., and boy are we glad we did. I guess we should have figured this place was trash when we learned they were only charging $30 a head for a 3-course Thanksgiving Day meal. read more

I had a horrible experience with their service. The girls are young and unpleasant. No welcoming and smiling at all. As a business owner, I take customer service very serious. The owner needs to employ the right people. The food was not bad; however, we were rushed to eat it. They came seven times to ask how we're are doing and if we need any thing else. That definitely was not intended to provide a good service, as finally the server broke and said can I bring you a box as we were in the middle of eating out food. I was extremely frustrated and had to tell her to leave us alone. They basically wanted to kick us out in less than 20mn. I suggest that you go to that place not to dine but get a drink in the bar and leave. It has a good view. read more

Had a business lunch here. We ate in the lounge (bar) area. Dated, old school restaurant overlooking Bodega golf course, and the pacific. When you walk in you get the feel of going back in time. Constructed of rock, dark woods, and glass gives it that feeling that I should be drinking a bourbon on the rocks, and not my iced tea. We got a table by the window, with a view of the ocean. Bartender, also acting as waitress came over and got our drink order, and dropped off menus. I was suprised at the prices. Very reasonable for where we were. I had the bowl of clam chowder, and a grilled romaine salad. My friend had a turkey club on a croissant. The club was large, and very tasty as reported by her. My chowder was good, and the grilled romaine was ok. Our waitress was very friendly. If I am in the area again, I would come back. Next time for a drink ! read more

No, please don't. Please do not come here for brunch/lunch. They have 1 waitress/bartender/hostess running around up and down trying to stay afloat. We sat at the bar because the tables were full and there was no one to find us a seat. We waited for about 20 mins for our coffee and mimosa. The water glass that was given to me had a bright red lipstick residue on it (see my picture). I only noticed that after I took a sip. Nasty. The mimosa did not have any OJ in it, which was fine, if we wanted to get drunk in the afternoon. However, it was not consistent. My mimosa had half OJ and my bf's had maybe a dash. We waited another 30 mins for our food. I got the eggs benedict while my bf had the eggs, toast and sausage. My eggs benedict was sloppy, mushy, drenched in sauce. We came for a late lunch. Unfortunately, we picked a time of year when the restaurant was in "off season." The place was deserted, so you could tell it looked really run down. The service was great, but the food was terrible. The calamari tasted like it had freezer burn. We were also served noticeably spoiled cole slaw. The chicken club, grilled cheese sandwich and fish and chips were fine but nothing tasted fresh. They should just close down during the "off season." Great view, great food, great service, great price!! WOW so glad we tried this place what an incredible value! The $13 Roasted New York Strip on grilled ciabatta with Caesar salad, mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy was tender flavorful and delicious. My wife had the $13 Fish & Chips which was light and crispy and the fries were perfect. We got a bowl of clam chowder to take home and when I had it for lunch a few days later it was phenomenal -- lots of clams little potatoes fresh herbs so very very good. With the calamari appetizer which was OK but fell way short of the one at the Little River Inn and 2 drinks for my wife and a beer for me we were out-the-door for under $60 including tip and did I mention the incredible view??? read more

OMG-Took my family here for Thanksgiving dinner-the food was horrible-cold, dry turkey, cold soup, cold, over cooked, mushy, frozen corn on the cob, and wilted salad, Even the cranberry sauce was bad. Hard to believe we spent $300 and couldn't eat the food. Called today to complain, but they really don't care. Don't eat here. Ever since the new chef took over the food has gone downhill. read more

We have only eaten/enjoyed the full bar and lunch menu upstairs when golfing. Views of the bay are wonderful and everything is always nice-above average golf course fare, but the French dip special is just amazing and earns the final star for this place. Dropped in after a nice appetite inducing hike at Shell Beach just north of Bodega Bay. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, the exact opposite of what I expected as we pulled into what I feared would be a cold, high-fallutin' golf course restaurant. Quick review: Food OK, service OK, wine was best part of the meal. Split the Cesar, and it was pretty good (except the croutons -- guessing they were store bought). Their rib-eye is a sorry excuse for a steak. About a 1/4 inch thick , if that. The potatoes that they served with it were a complete joke. My kids could roast better potatoes. The scallops were delicious, as was the fish special. (See, not all bad). Brought the kids along and the waitress was kind enough to ask the kitchen to make them the Hardy Pizza (minus the sausage and onions). Pretty sure it's just a frozen Tony's Pizza ... make that a $14 Tony's Pizza. The boys ate it, so chalk it up to eating out. Another guest at the table had the Harbour Burger. Said it was OK too, BUT it arrived a good 15 minutes after everyone else had received their food. Not the waitresses fault, probably an incompetent kitchen. It was her fault (or the managers) that it remained on out bill, though. Bottom line-- probably won't be back. Far superior restaurants in and around Bodega Bay. read more

Our first night out on the town and we were a bit too tired to venture that far. This one was right near the place we stayed so we figured why not. My BF and I split the Bluewater Trio (two petite Dungeness crab cakes, house cured salmon, and two grilled prawns) and a Caesar salad. Both of which were actually pretty tasty. Onto our main courses, he had the Cioppino or Fish Stew and I had the Grilled Chicken & Artichoke Pasta. They were okay though my BF felt that Cioppino was a bit lacking. As for my pasta, the chicken was a bit bland and I do which they would have had more artichokes. Otherwise it was pretty simplistic, which isn't bad in itself but still felt lacking. read more

Sometimes, especially in our scenic part of the world, a restaurant can be more about the overall experience than the quality of the food. That's the impression I got when I stopped in for lunch at the Bluewater Bistro and Bar--the country club restaurant at the Links at Bodega Harbour. ATMOSPHERE: This is where the "experience" part comes in. BB&B is located on a hill overlooking Bodega Bay, and the view is spectacular. To make the experience even better, their designer did a magnificent job of creating near perfect environments for enjoying that spectacular view. The Fireside Lounge (where lunch is served) is a loft-like room above the main dining area, and its décor consists of rock walls and a cozy fireplace. The Ocean Front Dining Room is a large airy room with rich wood paneling surrounding large windows full of ocean and sky. SERVICE: To be entirely fair, I must point out that I've only been to he BB&B for lunch, and I suspect that the dinner wait staff is probably less harried than the young woman bartender who does an admirable, albeit slow, job of pouring drinks and serving lunches that come from some location far removed from the bar. FOOD: Sadly, the quality of the food is the least attractive part of the BB&B experience. The lunch menu consists of salads and sandwiches, along with a pasta dish and daily specials. The dinner menu is, of course, more extensive and befits the upscale image this restaurant is trying to attain. (When the Executive Chef's name appears on the menu, you can reasonably assume image is a major concern.) I started off my most recent visit with a bowl of "white" chowder that was as short on flavor as it was full of chewy pieces of rubber bands masquerading as clams. To be fair, the bartender/server did ask how the chowder was, and when I told her I wasn't pleased, she removed the soup from my bill. Next came my French dip sandwich, and with it, the realization that the aforementioned Executive Chef has some unusual ideas about upscale food. Mayo on a French dip??? Overall, my impression is that the Chef is exercising creativity, but needs to better learn the art of blending flavors in support of a primary ingredient, rather than using flavors that clash. If I've offended anyone's delicate sensitivities, my apologies--I'm not an expert chef, just an expert eater. VALUE: I expect country club prices at a country club (i.e. $13 for a smallish French dip with fries), but I also expect good grub at those prices. That combination isn't happening at BB&B. BOTTOM LINE: As I've said in previous reviews, if I were reviewing an overall experience, BB&B's ambiance and view would earn four stars hands down. This is, however, a restaurant review, and the quality of their food barely squeaks in at three stars. read more

Don't come here starving tho cause the menu doesn't have much and food to me is pretty standard. Calamari was bland. A gorgeous restaurant! Fantastic view of Bodega Bay. This place must be beautiful at night. Went in for an early lunch on a weekday and it was not busy so the food came out quickly. The food was good, not great. The crab cakes were good but so tiny. The oysters were pretty good, tasted fresh. It was my first time trying oysters and they did not disappoint! I ordered the chicken bacon sandwich with fries. The fries were good, the sandwich was just ok. It was a bit bland, not a lot of flavor to it. My boyfriend had the spicy turkey burger, he seemed to like that a lot so maybe next time I will get that! read more

This place was an amazing, last minute find while frantically searching for food at 8pm on a Saturday night. We loved it so much, we came back for brunch the next morning. The food was great, and really reasonably priced. We ordered the asparagus appetizer - and it was amazing! The asparagus was drizzled in a balsamic reduction sauce and came with a lemon aioli, the flavors worked so well together. All three of us ordered the same entree for dinner, the steak and potatoes, and none of us were disappointed. The steak was grilled to perfection, the sauce was tasty but not overwhelming, and the potatoes and veggies were really excellent. I ordered the apple crisp for desert, and I'm glad I did! It was a perfect balance of apples, crisp, berries and sweetness; and the ice cream was a cinnamon-esque flavor and it was freshly made. My dear friend ordered the key lime cheesecake and sorbet, with similar results. The cheesecake was yummy, and the sorbet was also fresh. The formal dining room has a wonderful view, and we even caught a nice fireworks show while waiting for dessert. We were so pleased with this place after our horrible experience at Inn at the Tides that we decided to come back the next day for brunch. Brunch is served in the bar upstairs, which offers an even more spectacular view. The menu had a lot of choices, and all three of us ordered different dishes, none of us were disappointed. Wow, really surprised! The dining room was not open for lunch but the upstairs bar was. Was apprehensive but the views were amazing so we stayed. Our server was on top of it, really good at explaining the menu items and friendly. EVERYTHING we ordered was spot on...excellent and freshly made. As everyone else has stated, gorgeous view. Amazing ambiance. I called ahead of time for Mother's Day to make sure I wasn't paying $30 for nothing I could eat. The manager assured me that they would specifically make me a plate of selected offerings that would be gluten free, and ready for me once I got there at 2pm. Upon arriving, there was no such thing. The hostess told me there were things I could probably eat, and when I inquired about my special plate of non sickness foods, it didn't exist. I was then told that there were things in the buffet that were gluten free, which I was told specifically by the manager earlier, that weren't. I further was told the potatoes were safe, but then was stopped by the hostess and was told they weren't. I think this was very unprofessional, and I was then nervous and unhappy with my trust of their capabilities. That said, my parents LOVED the buffet, there were a great selection of prawns, lox with chived cream cheese, eggs Benedict, crab Benedict, ny strip steak with mushrooms, poached salmon with a mango salsa, and a huge selection of pastries and desserts. The bar area of the restaurant has a great view. We were surprised to see that it was empty on a Sunday morning. We ordered a couple of bloody marys', which were great. I ordered poached eggs and my husband ordered the spanish omelette. I was disappointed with my eggs. They were overdone and not runny at all. The eggs with english muffins made for a very dry meal. I really wanted to like this place. The setting is great and has a wonderful ambiance. I called about a week in advance to make reservations. Upon arrival, I got the feeling that they couldn't find my name as whoever I spoke to on the phone must have screwed up, although the hostess didn't seem to mention anything to me. Regardless, we were seated immediately at a nice table by the window with a view (although it was completely overcast, so I would recommend going when it's sunny out). 25 minutes went by and we were NEVER acknowledged by any of the waitstaff. To my frustration, I tried for 10+ minutes to flag someone down and no one even looked in my direction. Finally, I got the hostess' attention and she just said they were really busy but never apologized. At that point, we were then served right away and all of the food and drinks came pretty quickly. Unfortunately the first 30 minutes really ruined the meal for me. We walked out paying $100+ for 2 people and with the slightly above mediocre food, it wasn't a great experience. read more

I came here on a day trip and ate dinner here after a round of golf. It was quiet and not crowded at all so we ended up having our pick of seating. We chose a waterfront view that was absolutely gorgeous. It has a waterfront lodge ambience that worked great for me. The food was fantastic! We ordered 4 starters to share, all of which were delicious. Spinach salad, clam chowder, cheese plate, and crab cakes. We got the halibut and steak for our main courses and they were both really delicious! But the mashed potatoes that came with the steak did me in and I am trying my best to think of how they possibly got them so fluffy and light. We topped it off with creme brulee which my boyfriend also liked even though he usually does not care for creme brulee. Oh, and the olive bread they start you out with is incredibly good, especially when still warm. The service was also really good. They got our orders promptly, kept our water glasses filled, and cleared the table when necessary without ever making us feel rushed. It's kind of pricey, but I felt like the experience was definitely worth it. read more

Stopped in tonight with boyfriend and roommate for dinner after taking in the day at Bodega. Ambiance- The weather was gorgeous. The sunset view from the bar upstairs was great. Food- Bread and butter came to the table late but was warm and delicious. Originally came based off of reviews from fellow yelpers and their menu online only to be given Valentine's day menus with more limited fare. Boyfriend was dying for a burger but no such luck. He settled for a Cesar salad with grilled chicken from the appetizer section. Chicken was dry, roommate and I could tell just from a glance. Boyfriend didn't touch it and prodded at the spears of lettuce instead. I had the filet ordered medium that came wayyyyyy overdone. Not a spot of pink on that bad boy. The basil mashed potatoes were yummy. Light with a fresh finish from the basil. Mushrooms were sparse but good. Loved the greens with bacon. Roommate got a Cesar salad and the saffron fettuccine. He seemed satisfied. It was all average. No one felt compelled to Service- The service was atrocious. The waitress had a really hard calculating our ages when the boys were ordering their drinks. Roommate complained his gin and tonic was weak. He remedied that by ordering three. Didn't really appreciate being treated like we were underage after helping her figure out how old we were. Otherwise, service was generally pretty slow. She had a pretty hard time figuring out how to break up our bill to pay it. We won't sit in her section again but otherwise I'd love to go back. It's been so long since we've had dinner here thought we would give it a try. Very pleased. Our server was Dixie - she's been serving here for at least 15 years and always provides cheery and professional service. We started with the special steamed mussels for $9. Lots of mussels, white wine, garlic, broth, and crusty french bread. 5 stars. We both had the Oven Roasted Alaskan Halibut $19 Lemon, chive and panko crust, mashed potatoes, basil cream sauce and fresh heirloom tomatoes. Very well done - although the cream sauce was a tad bland as were the potatoes - 3.5 stars. read more

We ordered the fish and chips and fish taco. Taco was soggy and couldn't possibly hold on to it. The fries were cold and limp. The fish for the chips was okay but hard to handle as there was to much batter. There was no where to sit so we ended up in the parking lot at a little table by the door. My son sleeps during lunch time for three hours and he was having a particularly hard day while on vacation. So I needed a nice spot to watch the game and have a beer and burger. This place though the reviews weren't amazing, turns out is great. I was in no way disappointed. Fantastic burger, solid drinks (Bloody Mary was super good) and surprisingly smart desert.
