The fish for the chips was okay but hard to handle as there was to much batter. There was no where to sit so we ended up in the parking lot at a little table by the door. This great Bodega Bay location was always just "ok" in terms of food quality, choices and overall feel, however now this is a true "not to be missed" delicious experience. Ernesto is bringing fresh ideas, perfect execution in just the right size portions. We split the Pear and micro green butter lettuce salad, I loved panko crusted sole with mashed potatoes and micro sweet veggies and the steak with scalloped potatoes and the same yummy veggies was my husband's choice. Top it off with a shared creme brulee and you won't be disappointed. Clearly the staff is enjoying all the guests being pleased and they are beaming with pride and joy as they take care of you. Bluewater Lounge - Need we say more? Delicious!! - New American Near Me - Bodega Bay, California

We've visited Bluewater Bistro several times. This past week we vacationed for over a week, just up the street about 10 houses, and decided to try takeout since they were only open for that service. Delivery charge was 18%, but they only deliver in this track of homes. We opted to pick up, since they're so close. Service is always friendly and warm, we appreciate that very much! The menu is fairly limited understandably right now, but seems more fast food or lunch fare with burgers, hot dogs, quesadillas, soup, fries and fried fish/chips, tacos. One pasta dish, no steak, fish, pork or chicken dinner (fried chicken appetizer though). My husband had a bacon cheeseburger which he liked (tip that fresh condiments would keep better if left on the side). He substituted coleslaw for the fries and it was the size of a large tablespoon. Greedy portion, sorry. I enjoyed the chicken Alfredo with grilled asparagus for a side. The Alfredo sauce was very tasty and the pasta was perfect. The "blackened" chicken was really thin, over cooked and well charred...it was only a few bites. We've enjoyed better from this restaurant in the past and are sorry for their impact by recent troubles. The prices seemed on the high end for the quality and selection this time around, for us at least. read more

King salmon (market fish of the day) was delicious! The chow mein combo was, too. Scrimshaws on tap and we were set.

This restaurant is located at a country club, and that is noticeably reflected in the food, service, and price. The upstairs lounge dining area has a nice view of the golf course and is a great place to watch the sun set. My wife's cocktail (Moscow Martini?) was very well made, and my Bluewater Margarita was not bad. We had the wings as an appetizer and, while I should know better than to order wings at a country club, I did it anyway. Both the order and the wings themselves were very small. They were coated in an Asian-style chili oil and served with ranch dressing on the side, which was a total flavor mismatch. Not bad, but not really very good either, and also came with a single parenthesis-shaped piece of celery which was more odd than anything else. My wife's burger was typical Americana fare to which she added mushrooms and avocado, and I must say it was cooked perfectly and the meat was flavorful. The two pieces of fish served as my fish and chips were laughably small and the appearance certainly did a disservice to the claimed Lagunitas batter coating. It was served up with fresh out of the bag french fries and a dollop of so-so coleslaw on a bed of lettuce (come on) on top of red and white checkered wax paper. It was just like eating at a diner except the food wasn't as good. This was a last minute decision and one of the few options available in Bodega Bay on short notice. The staff were very friendly and the service was good, but the food was just not up to par (zing!) for the price we paid. I could, however, see stopping in again for a few drinks and snacks perhaps on the way out to the coast or on the way back. read more

I came here for a dinner with family. We had reservation for 7:30pm, we came in and there was not a host/hostess to assist us. The waitresses seemed really confused about which table was set up for us, when there was a table set up for 8 with wine glasses LOL. They finally sat us down at our table. The waitress was good, informative, and pleasant. All the orders came out right. The food was good and fresh, tho a little bland for my taste. I hear that the view from the bar at the top is nice, but we were there at night so I'm not sure if you could really see anything. We brought our own wine and they poured it so that was nice. read more

Our family recently visited The Bluewater Bistro and Bar. In addition to the delicious seafood dinners we had and the remarkable sunset, we were impressed with the massive structure full of windows that "brought the outside in" to enjoy during dinner. We also appreciated the friendly, helpful staff, from the greeter at the door to the people who bussed the table to our waitress, Cecile. This is my neighborhood restaurant and a great place for a meal. But, it is more than a place to eat. It is a part of the Bodega Bay community. I've never been prouder to be a resident of the Harbour than when I learned that this restaurant closed to commercial traffic and dedicated itself to serving the mass of people who fled the Sonoma County fires for the coast. There were many who came with nothing -- and had nowhere to eat. The Bistro fed them. Kudos to Kemper Management, the Board, and the employees of the Harbour. Came here to enjoy some good food and scenery on a gift card from my kids....the food was really meh, service poor, and the topper.....both myself and my GF got food poisoning when we got home...30min drive....not pleasant! especially when you spend @$100 for lunch.....i should have played golf....and i will next time, cuz i'm not eating here again...ever.... read more

We had our dinner from the Bluewater Bistro delivered this evening. It arrived right on time! We each had a bowl of their Clam Chowder. It was delicious!!! My husband ordered the hamburger which came with French Fries, sliced tomatoes, sliced onion and lettuce...with catsup and mayonnaise in packets. He told me that the hamburger was delicious! My main course was the Caesar Salad with Shrimp. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the whole salad was delicious. What a great dinner!!! read more

The corporation should put out money to buy window shades that cut the sun but not the view. Folks consistently complain the sun is too bright or that they cannot see the view...one of these groups always wins and it is more often than not, the ones who want the shades down, which blocks the absolute stellar view. Get new hi-tech shades that will make everyone happy.The food is not stellar by any means but neither is it terrible. The service is awful. Waitresses are understaffed, overworked (having to run up and down stairs to bring up ordered meals), and are very "irritable." They are short with customers to the point of being rude. I have lived in west county for almost fifty years, was one of the first home owners of this property and over the years I have seen management slide into a state of overworked frustration, taking it out on their customers. Several different groups of my friends, long time residences in this area walked out last week without staying due to the service. read more

Although the ambiance of the building is beautiful, the experience was not. We ordered clam chowder which was not good at all considering Bodega Bay is a hub of competition in this market. The Thai Coconut shrimp dinner lacked flavor and the portion was tiny. We were one of the last tables to be seated that evening but when our waitress brought our chowder to the table she delivered it with a message of "Sorry about that...we had to heat it up". Unfortunately it was barely warm even after having to "warm it up". It lacked professionalism and flavor for a fine dining restaurant and I hope that they can step up the food as the view and the building are beautiful. read more

I went here a few months ago, what I remember of the food was that it was overcooked, under seasoned and very bland. I did have to give an extra star for the desert though. The creme brulee was absolutely delicious & very much enjoyed by my dinner companion and me. read more

We started with our restaurant standard, Calamari. It was tough, chewy and barely browned. It seemed like they took it out of a freezer bag and put it in the microwave! It was literally inedible! We requested Carmen the server, who was perfectly lovely, return the Calamari to the kitchen and let the chef know it was inedible. The insult came when the Calamari was included in our bill! If there were a negative star rating, that is what I would have chosen to represent my experience there at lunch today. I came with my friend who had a delightful Cobb salad here 5 months ago. She ordered it again, and this time it was half the size but the same price! My fish tacos were completely tasteless, but by the time we got served (25 minutes!) I was starving and ate them. My friend sent her salad back and ordered a burger, which came back sad, overcooked, and the cheese wasn't even melted on top. This was after having made an online reservation, only discovering when we arrived that they had no record of it. The waitress was rude, on top of all that, and we were so angry and frustrated that we left after sending my friend's burger back, and told the waitress we weren't going to pay for this. Neither my friend nor I have ever left without paying before, so this was an exceptionally bad restaurant experience, both in terms of the service and the food! Apparently, they "revamped" the menu and changed the chef recently, and I'm guessing the management is pretty incompetent. read more

After reading the mixed reviews, we decided to go ahead and try this place for dinner bc the menu looked good and the views are amazing. Overall was disappointed. It was our anniversary and we mentioned to the person who took our reservation. Not that we expected anything, but they didn't care or do anything fun or acknowledge or even say happy anniversary to us. The service was slow, we overheard staff complaining about other customers, and the food was mediocre. If you are debating on going, there are other options that are better. read more

My friends and I plan a weekend in Bodega Bay every October. It's a tradition to eat at the Bluewater Bistro, where we have never needed a reservation. On Saturday, the hostess refused to seat us in the dining room, saying that all of the tables were reserved (two tables were occupied at the time) and told us that our only option was to go upstairs to the sports bar, which does not offer a full menu (and food was mediocre). On our way out a couple of hours later, two tables were still occupied in the dining room and the rest of the tables remained empty the whole evening. A very unpleasant experience and will contemplate never going back. read more

There are very few restaurants/bars in this neck of the coast (and they leave a lot to be desired). This place stands out above the rest and the view alone helps to ensure a memorable experience. Food was great and service was quick. Highly recommend the Fish Tacos, the Club Sandwich, and the Turkey Burger. Wine selection is just ok and they have great beers on tap. read more

Sticky tables, seated above a pool full of drunk half naked people for dinner when 6 other tables were available, waitress forgot about us and could swear she smelled like she's just smoked pot. Skip the beet risotto. It's just white rice and beet purée. Creepy and gross. The salad was coated in cracked pepper and had unripe cherry tomatoes and just flavorless. The rest was just the same. I get that there are not a lot of good restaurants in Bodega Bay but we have definitely had better in each restaurant there. read more

I have eaten her many times, every time I venture to Bodega Bay. I have been here for dinner, but most recently we came for breakfast. I ordered the waffle and bacon. The waffle was cold and a little hard. For 12 or 14 dollars I expect a nice fluffy and warm waffle. My father ordered the same thing as I did and the rest of the party had ordered a dish that came with pancakes. None of them came out with butter, we had to request it. I found that a little odd since most of the time pancakes or waffles come with butter. The bacon was too greasy and our waiter was not very attentive. For 4 people the bill came out to 87 dollars with tip. For the service and food we got, it was definitely not worth that much money. Especially being a restaurant. We also got served upstairs in the bar, they crammed a bunch of people in a small area. Overall, it was not a pleasant experience. read more

Went up to Bodega bay with the girlfriend, and once there decided we needed to find something to eat. Went onto yelp to see what most people had to say about the local establishments, and this place came up with somewhat favorable reviews. Was very easy to find since it's in the golf club house, however going in the off season it felt somewhat deserted. Entered the bistro and found a nice table near the window with an great view of the ocean and some of the bay. The menu was small, but everything on it looked appetizing. Girlfriend had the fish tacos, and I had the french dip along with mimosas (which ended up being the weight of out bill). The single bartender/waitress was very attentive and friendly. Overall, a good meal and setting. Would recommend it to anyone that isn't in for the tourist trap kind of place in Bodega. read more

No matter how many times I eat here, be it breakfast, lunch, dinner, or special occasion, I am disappointed. Hot food always seems to be served either cold or lukewarm, so we always have to send something back. Their clam chowder is great - but not when it's served cold. They never seem to have enough servers - the bar tender seems to always have to pull dual duty. A few wait-staff are excellent - and most try hard to keep up with demand. Huge staff turnover - recently many resigned. Their prices may be appropriate for the area, but due to the quality of the food, they charge too much. With the many local farms and ranches, they should be taking advantage of the great fresh foods they could be serving. read more

I love Bluewater Bistro and have gone there for Sunday brunch on a number of occasions. I always enjoy the food & mimosa. I was, unfortunately, a little disappointed when I visited last Sunday. I informed our waitress upon arrival that I was gluten free and if she knew what that meant. She kind of passed it off and kept asking if we were ready to order. I was able to choose a dish that looked perfect to me - omelet with roasted potatoes. As I began to order, she asked "and what type of bread?" I told her I cannot have bread as I am gluten free and it cannot be near the other food on my plate as there can be cross-contamination with crumbs. She looked around at my other guests and asked if any of them would want to take my bread. One friend said he would. I also asked her if they flour their potatoes just to make sure and she assured me they did not. Well, my food came out a little while later and on my plate with the omelet was a pile of bread. I mentioned to her that I had said I could not have bread and she commented "ya, but your friend said he would eat it". Guess she didn't get it. That kind of ruined the restaurant for me. I don't ever ask for any special treatment being gluten free, just that they accommodate my requests (as any other guest would ask for). I felt very ignored like she didn't care about my restrictions. read more

This restaurant was a bit of a let down. My husband and I went for a very early dinner (5:00ish) and to watch the World Series, therefore, we sat in the bar. The view was wonderful but the restaurant/bar area itself was extremely dated and not in any way charming. I didn't find the atmosphere warm or inviting in any way (accept for the view). The staff was pleasant enough. As for the food, we ordered an appetizer of calamari. The calamari itself was extremely bland though accompanied by a couple good sauces to liven it up. Next, I had a salad which was quite average and drowned in dressing. Finally, we split an order of fish and chips. The fish was very good and fresh, chips, again extremely average. The restaurant has great potential. Perhaps we caught it at an off time. At any rate, I will not be rushing back. read more

Good place for dinner. Fish and chips was good, their special last Friday was an ok (It was a fish breaded in panko with lime tamarind balsamic sauce underneath it served with asparagus and basmati rice). Calamari was really good, just a perfect texture. Minus 1star because the original table that we were seated at had bunch of ants. Waitresses are pretty quiet except Linda (our waitress), super bubbly and friendly, made our night spectacular. Thanks Linda! Oh BTW my husband is in love with their cheese platter :) read more

We go to Bodega Bay every Memorial Day weekend. We were looking for something different, and saw the reviews here. So we decided to go for lunch. Lunch is served in the bar, which isn't all that big. I estimated it would see about 50 people. And the bar servers handle the meals as well. I order the burger, medium well. Hard to judge how good a place is based on a burger... but, it was very good. And it was cooked exactly to med well, and was not dry at all. So the fact that they got it right (which so many palces don't) earned them an extra star. And the view is spectacular from the bar (assuming it isn't fogged in). And the service was good. So, no complaints, a great lunch. We left happy! read more
