This place is a vibe. My friends and I love to come here for brunch. Most recently, we came for the Dungeness crab today and it was really yummy. There were a couple bee's harassing us on the lake side patio, so we needed to switch tables mid way through but the servers were incredibly gracious and helpful. We had a newer server taking care of us at first and she was fantastic, but then I think she got cut so Jose took care of us at the end and he's always amazing. Never let him go. Honorable mention, the new busser Gabe was great. The blackberry cobbler as the only thing that was questionable. Will of course be back! read more

We have been to BluWater 15+ times and have had mixed experiences. Yesterday (mothers day, party of 6 for dinner w/reservation) was so bad I felt the need to comment so the restaurant has an opportunity to improve. I get that Mothers day is a big draw, and the crowd adds complexity, but there were clearly unprepared and our experience really ruined an otherwise nice Mothers day. I really regret dining out. First - we went early to hopefully avoid having issues at rush time. We got seated at 15 min after standing in line to check in for our 5pm res. No one came to our table for probably 20 minutes, then it was a good 20-30 min for drinks to arrive after we ordered. (the frozen/blended drinks were totally melted so they had been on the bar for a while), then when dinner came out (not at the same time) the two NY steaks we ordered medium came out charred on the outside, but dark purple/cold inside. I like steak a low medium rare and I would not even eat this. We asked the server about it and she said she would make it right. When the steak came back they had just thrown them back on the grill and now they were fully charred/burnt outside, but were STILL well below medium rare inside. Most restaurants would re-cook a new steak, but they did not. Also, when the steaks came back they no longer had the sides that came with the meal originally(which were disappointing cooked baby carrots). Other disappointing things were that the restaurant was super dirty (trash on the floor including open jam packets), the bathrooms were a disaster (trash everywhere, no soap or towels). Also, when we booked the reservation they said they offered specials for mothers day, but that you could also order from the regular menu. What we found was that they had a limited Mothers day only menu which only had high priced items with about 5 entree choices. This was not disclosed and we were not fans of the entree options available. We also didn't get bread (other tables did seem to), or silverware until after we asked, after the food had already been delivered. Based on what we saw, and the raw steaks, I have a suspicion they were totally unprepared for the day and were taking frozen food out of the freezer and cooking it as quickly as possible without using a thermometer (scary), and in some cases probably running across the street to the leschi market to buy ingredients they had run out of (such as baby carrots for the steak veggie) At the end of the day we spent $280 for 4 drinks, 2 raw steaks with baby carrots that we didn't get to eat, and mac and cheese, chicken strips, and two pieces of fish -- and it took over 2 full hours. BTW you could tell the server was having a terrible day so we didnt give her a hard time about this...it didnt seem to be her direct fault. Had a great experience on our first time eating at Bluwater. Plenty of options on the menu and also a decent kids menu. Guests can arrive via car, on foot, or the coolest manner which is by water and dock down below with 2 free hours of docking. Our burgers were slightly over cooked (ordered them Medium) but we easily overlooked it because the service was so great. Our waiter was Jorge and he did such a great job. The kind of service where next time we go we will most definitely ask to be seated anywhere as long as it's his section. Bathroom was clean. Service is awful. From the second we walked in we waited as two employees talked for about 5 min before greeting us. Then as we sat we waited a cool 20 min before being greeted. After we ate and got our food we waited another 30 minutes until our server got back to ask if we wanted our check. Food was not good. Only con to come here is for the views. The restaurant has a beautiful view of lake Washington, with a ride array of dishes. We shared the cauliflower bites and crab dinner. Great deal for the crab. For limited time only they been offering King crab on Wednesday for $35. They offer outside sitting, which is beautiful on a nice day, you have a view of lake Washington. Parking is tricky cause you'll see signs 2 hour parking, but some spaces or row is for permits only. We got tickets which wasn't clear. Clean restroom, friendly staff. No reason why this place should have less than 4 stars! I don't get it. The food was good, the service was great and the views we're amazing! The interior is a little dated and might need an update but we sat outside and it was an awesome experience! My mother in law was visiting us and we wanted to take her to brunch but the other brunch place was super busy We got mimosas to start and it was really good. The pitcher was huge and totally worth the price! I got shrimp and grits and it was huge! I couldn't finish my food let alone help Sarah and her mom with theirs! Sarah got the Benedict which was alright and my mother in law got the waffle which was really good! The shrimp and grits were delicious but there is so much of it that I was sick of shrimp for weeks!! I'd definitely go here again and I can't find a reason not to recommend this to friends! Decor may look dated but I have eaten here too many times to count. Good is consistently excellent. Salmon entree is especially outstanding.

It's a cafe / bar / restaurant with a fabulous view but the quality of the food and decor is ok. It's a pretty simple and old fashioned American eatery with a few choices for food. The location is lovely and on the water. You get a nice water view from the restaurant. The menu had a few starters and mains mostly things you would find in a classic American eatery like burgers, ribs, fish, meat and so on. The portions are huge so careful what you order. I had the ribs for main with a salad and it was ok. The ribs were big and quite juicy and way too much for me to eat. It was cooked ok but could have be much more tender than I had it. The taste was ok and all in a all an ok meal. Service was pleasant and friendly and all in all an ok experience. read more

My daughter requested a Caprese sandwich, and finally on the 3rd try, they got it kinda right. But it lacked basil and had onion and lettuce instead, what?! This review is for their brunch on Sunday 5/23/21. Overall: Would not recommend. Food and service were not great. Over the course of one hour, waiting for our food, we had this server (not ours) come up to our table 3 times asking if these dishes were our food which were not. Finally, when it was actually our food the same waiter placed the food on the table next to us and another couple had to flag to the waiter that the previous customers already left (mind you this table was dirty and nobody was seated there). When it was time to check out, as I was literally writing the check, the same waiter (not ours again) comes up with a plate of food asking if this is our food...We are not sure why this staff was extremely disorganized. Pros: -Got seated fast (less than 5 minute wait for Sunday brunch which is rare considering the place next door was 1.5 hour wait) -Clam chowder was good -brunch mimosa was less than 5 bucks Cons: -It took one hour for food to arrive from the time of ordering. -HAIR in the food!!! (Ordered chicken caprese sandwich). Saw another reviewer found hair in their food. My breakfast of pancakes with blueberries and scrambled eggs was the perfect comforting start to my Sunday morning. Paired with a reasonably priced mimosa and a beautiful view of Lake Washington nothing could beat it. Service was excellent and fast. My pancakes were thirsty for the warm maple syrup and butter accompaniments. I also ordered a hearty side of crispy bacon. I really enjoyed my eggs which were scrambled just right with a sprinkle of cheddar. I am picky about eggs. This is a great spot to meet friends for brunch. Was super lovely to vist this local spot to me. First thing I noticed was how much space they have! Indoor and outdoor, both settings with enough spacing for social distancing. We were sat promptly, though i didn't catch our sever's name, and everything came in a orderly fashion. The food was slightly above average, but by no means the best of a NY steak, or the French onion soup. And the server unfortunately wasn't able to tell my partner the seasonal veg was green beans, rather than asparagus . But the portions were generous and i certainly didn't have any room for dessert :(. What was slightly sad to see though was some bit of stripped paint that had even recently fallen off and area, or hadn't been picked up, and the host stand looked like it needed a bit of TLC. And this is why they only get 3 stars, as it was good. But i just have the feeling it could be so much more if they wanted to go for it. Went for Christmas Dinner service 2023. Server was nice but hadn't been given a great training, as she was unable to tell us what was actually being served for dinner. Múltiple people in my party tried to order off the menu and were told that that dish was not being served that night, despite being on the menu. Restaurant could use a renovation, dated interior. After waiting a long time being in line, me and my husband, daughter, son in law and grandson finally were shown our table which was on the corner. Our food didn't come till about more than an hour later. Our server didn't refill our coffee and didn't ask if we needed anything else. Then the long period of waiting to pay our bill. Finally my son in law was able to flag her and ask for the bill. The surf and turf dish I ordered was mediocre and my husband's scramble eggs lacked eggs. My grandson's mac and cheese looked like it came from a box and their crab quiche was meh. for the amount of price this brunch cost us, we could have gone to Daniel's or other place that would appreciate our business. we will never come back or refer this place to anyone. read more

Comically bad service for a day-before-Mother's Day. The food itself was fine, not outstanding, not bad. But the service was unapologetically AWFUL, to the point that after probably a good 6-8 visits here over the past couple years we are very unlikely to return. I showed up ahead of the rest of my for lunch at 1:30 PM. The restaurant was fairly busy, but plenty of tables available so we got "seated" right away; seated is in quotes because the host, a 40-something man, pointed to the table, handed me five menus, and literally pointed and said "you guys can sit there". Oooooookey-doke. Odd, but fine I guess. The rest of the party, including two elderly grandmothers arrived soon thereafter. It was difficult for the two of them to navigate the 3 stairs down to the seating area. Did any restaurant employees offer to help? Nope. A couple kind folks seated got up to take their other arms and help, but the staff didn't bat an eye. And then we sat a solid 10-15 minutes without so much as a glass of water. And we ordered. And waited for our beverages to come out, a few coffees, a diet soft drink and such. We even flagged down the server. And they never came until 20 minutes later with the food. And we all really would have liked to have our drinks refilled, but the wait staff never arrived until after we were done eating. My wife would have liked some jam for the English muffin she ordered with her omelette, and we even tried flagging down someone--anyone--but no one even looked our way, so she literally gave up. To make matters worse, the waitress, a 20-something blonde woman, truly appeared as if she couldn't care less. I mean, yes, she had a number of tables she was handling, but to literally not check in after the order and bring the drinks??? To not check in after the food arrived and offer to refill beverages, not even one time until the food was literally gone? Bad, just bad. Again, we are unlikely to return because for several years this has been our place to go on a sunny weekend day for an outdoor lunch near the water. But this is Seattle and there are PLENTY of options who actually want to earn your patronage. read more

I live in the neighborhood and have visited BluWater many times - the service and quality has dropped off big time in the past 6 months. Staff are friendly, but the owner seems to not care any more. We observed him being rude and brash with customers and his staff. There has been investment or upkeep of the the facilities and decore has left the place looking tired and in need of some real TLC. The food is ok, but has limited options and the quality is highly variable. It's a real shame an otherwise great location is being let down by a lack of investment and attention to detail. We have been going there for Valentine's Day for years. We got a reservation relatively early, and were looking forward to another nice meal right on the lake. They started taking us to our table, and I thought they must have a room we've never eaten in before. It wasn't a room. It was outside, covered in heavy plastic, with resin patio chairs for seats and a bunch of outdoor stand up heaters. If we wanted to eat in a parking lot, we wouldn't have made reservations at a restaurant on the water. The food was just ok, but the ambience (or lack thereof) was the worst part of the experience. I felt for new couples who were trying to have a special night or impress their date with a nice meal. If that had been me, I would have been mortified to have chosen that place. I came here for my cousins birthday dinner. I looked at the menu online beforehand because I was hungry and wanted to cut my wait time in half by knowing what I wanted but everything I wanted wasn't on the menu when I got there. The waiter really didn't explain why either. The setting of the place is nice. It has an inside/outside dinning. When I finally settled for pizza, I was even more disappointed because a simple pizza was 4/10 after all that waiting. I just gave up at that point. Bluwater bistro is a cute little restaurant located in the heart of Seattle on green lake. My little sister and I were starving and in the area, stopping here was her idea. It was SO hot and sunny out this day. Couldn't think of a better way to grab some grub, being able to sit in the shade and watch over the lake. We were greeted and seated right away. Service was outstanding here. The menu was alright. Didn't feel like there was a bunch to choose from. I had a hard time deciding, I asked the server about a few items and was able to finally settle on something. Didn't feel like indulging in carbs and got cauliflower bites and the watermelon salad with salmon. The cauliflower bites were yummy! Watermelon salad was good, but I was still hungry after devouring all this food! Proportions were small for the price paid. I paid around 60+ bucks for one appetizer, salad, drink and a kids pizza. I am so surprised I have not reviewed this business until right now! I have been here so many times it seems inevitable. What's not to love about BluWater bistro! The service is amazing the view is that times 10 and the food is delicious. Actually, part of my husband's top five restaurant list easily. Whether you come in for breakfast, lunch or dinner you will get a delicious meal and enjoy the ambience. That's big for me. Service is definitely a major part of my experience at a restaurant but so is the ambience. I mean, there are some restaurants where the food is just so good it doesn't matter if they served it to you in a shoebox. However, the ideal restaurant for me has an energy that is pleasant from start to finish. The ideal restaurant for me has good food every time I come. The ideal restaurant for me has a view of the water especially if I'm in Washington state. My favorite dish is now the ceviche! Amazing lakefront view with a very established restaurant. It appears with covered they added a whole lower area that is almost right on the lake. They also added some outside dining out front. As well as the inside which is rather nice with a beautiful wooden bar. Our food took about 45 minutes to come out which is kind of long at a big restaurant. Maybe since they added all the outside coated tables in the kitchen stayed the same size they're going to have a problem with ticket times? The fish and chips were fantastic. The fish was breaded perfectly and piping hot. I started with a bowl of chowder and it was good chowder nothing exceptional. The Gorgonzola ravioli was also a fun dish if you like a sweet and spicy type pasta dish. I was with some Gen Z folks and they got the crab mac and cheese and they said it was fantastic. If you want something lighter someone at the table ordered the blue cheese salad with a piece of chicken on top of it and it was mixed greens tossed with a little bit of blue cheese crumbles and assorted nuts and some slices of pear with a moist, cold, and sliced chicken breast on top of it. read more

Went here for lunch on 2/3. I wish I could remember the server's name but he was extremely thorough and professional. Something I always take note of is whether the server brings you a box at the end or takes your leftovers and boxes them for you. He did the latter which is a forgotten level of customer service these days. I got the prime rib dip and my wife got the Reuben. Each sandwich was roughly $14 and came with a side. Wife got salad and I got fries of course. I mean I'm not getting salad with a prime rib dip. Mandatory fries. Her sandwich was huge and she loved it. My prime rib dip was pretty good. Oh mannn I would like to give this place a 4 or 5 but two things really threw me off... 1. There was a long hair embedded in my food. Tucked under the spinach and Salmon. I get it, mistakes happen. But when the cost is $33? It irks me but I still ate it. 2. The woman's bathroom was rank. Toilet paper and paper towels everywhere. Tampon wrapper on the floor. This has been my regular go to place since moving into the neighborhood, but not anymore. Prices have gone up, service has gone down as has the quality of the food. The thing that put me over the edge was that I ordered some gift certificates at the end of the year which never arrived in the mail. I sent an email query and they said they were sent and the first redemption was two days after the date they said they were placed in the mail. I pointed out the fact that timing was highly suspect and USPS has no record of a delivery from them and basically was told too bad. Lots of other options around the central district and cap hill area...sorry to say they have lost a long time customer. read more
