Outside dining was faux wood picnic tables and flimsy plastic chairs. I reserved dinner on the Saturday after UW graduation for my graduate and our family to celebrate. We were given the choice of inside or outside seating and we made the big mistake of choosing outdoors. There were ~3 picnic tables set up to the side of the building next to the parking lot with cheap molded plastic chairs. We looked down at the gravel floor and saw a swarm of ants covering an area of 6-inches right at our feet, snacking on food dropped from the table presumably. Our server made a casual comment, "just splash water on it" and didn't make any other efforts other than to move us to another picnic table. Service was basic, and 2 dishes from the next table were added onto our tab and served to us by mistake. Food was ok, nothing special. Probably better value to pack our own meal and sit on the dock a few steps away for free! read more

We were seated on the lower, outdoor, waterfront section. I found the staff to be very friendly, attentive, and quite knowledgeable about both the food and drink menus. Yes, the restaurant does show its age-but they look like they're making some great improvements such as restaurant windows that open to give an open-air option. I was at this place on 3-4-10. Lisa was our waitress. This place is huge inside, & generally pretty clean. I didn't find it to be crowded, particularly because me & my guests where there on a weekday during lunch time hours. So I guess I missed any crowding, slow service, etc others have experienced in the past. The hostess that sat us was the upbeat, overly happy & loud type. Her hair needed to be done badly. I don't see why she was allowed to come to work looking like that. Especially in a restaurant!! Our waitress Lisa was courteous, & did her job well. She's hott too in case you are wondering. She's very attentive to the customers & knows what shes doing. The food was ok. Not great, but not nasty. The portions are huge!, which is a good thing! I ordered the meatloaf, which came with smashed potatoes & gravy. The meatloaf tasted funny, but it was ok overall. The smashed potatoes & gravy were excellent. Loved them. For dessert I had the cheesecake, which was a great choice. It was good, & I'd recommend it to anyone that comes to this restaurant. The views are nice. The restrooms were clean, & not stinky. I can't think of any restaurant in Seattle that I want to like more than the Bluewater Bistro but just never lives up to my expectations. What a location!!! Gorgeous views of Lake Washington, big outdoor patio for dining and drinks in the summer, but the food and service is consistently mediocre. Why can't they make it better? Tonight's visit was prompted by a groupon that was about to expire. You know, use it or lose it. Well my wife and I showed up on a Saturday night for dinner to be surprised by the busy restaurant. Granted the sun was out today, so that may have attracted the crowd, but I had hopes that things were better. Not so much. Our drinks were very slow to arrive. Thankfully the food did not take too much longer to arrive. Speed of delivery was the best part. The fish and chips were good, but I don't judge a waterfront restaurant on their ability to fry fish. I had the crab stuffed Mahi Mahi. I never really tasted the crab. The fish was over cooked but was ok. The best part of the plate was the baby potatoes - excellent. But it is sad that that was the highlight of a $24 plate of fish. By the way, DO NOT do brunch at this restaurant on Mother's day. We tried twice (Yea, I know, why go back for a second time, but I really want to like this place) and both times were complete disasters. They ran out of food, service took over an hour each time. Decided to try for Happy Hour last night (Friday). Options were ok, not great. No shrimp or prawn cocktail. They only do Happy Hour on the front patio and in the bar, which was not posted on their site, nor did the hostess tell us that, so we had to move after sitting down. They hadn't cleaned off the outside table of the rain water like they should have as an opening checklist item, so they were doing it while people were eating on the few they had cleaned. Food was mediocre at best. Calamari was fresh, but the breading was thick and btwn the spice in the breading and the aoli, overwhelming. Kobe sliders, overcooked and not Kobe. Jerk Chicken skewers were very good - tender, moist chicken. Crab Wontons a little mushy, and overwhelming cream cheese with little flavor, lots of crab tho. Service was okay, except they didn't bring us plates and silverware and when my boyfriend went to get them the waitress gave him the death look. My Daughter brought me here for a b-day brunch. She had the chicken fried steak and I had the Dungeness crab benedict. The chicken fried steak was an actual piece of NY steak , not the cubed or ground kind, she loved it and she said the coating was very crispy and flavorful. The crab benedict was good, the service was actually phenomenal. I wish I could remember our servers name she constantly check on us and was so sweet! We will be back very soon. This was such a wonderful way to end our last day of a girls weekend out! The food was great, we had a few pizzas, a salad, and a skillet cookie with a few frozen champagnes which were all lovely. The best part, though, was our server Katie. She is absolutely a delight! On top of excellent service, Katie is so funny and friendly! Yep. Service is blah. Bartender seemed pissed off that he had to *gasp* serve customers?! Come on, dude. I guess at least the drink was good (Ruby Drop...it had grapefruit something or other in it, it was pretty yum.) Had to ask to get our order taken twice before they finally came around. They weren't attentive at all. Waited a good 20 minutes for our check. It was bearable because I was with a group and we were talking the time away, but damn, if I were here with my family my parents would be pissed by the slow service. Our waitress was friendly enough but told us some guy was complaining about the pork chops and she wanted us to go tell him that the pork chops are awesome, in a joking manner....but who says that? Well my friend thought the pork chops were amazing, he was pretty pleased. I got the salmon entree, I've had better salmon. It's mediocre, at best. Also over priced for what you get. Eh. I wouldn't bother coming here. If anything I'd come for the view but I wouldn't pay $20+ to eat here. read more

What do you get when you combine delicious food at a good price along with friendly and fast service and a gorgeous view? BLUWATER BISTRO! Their menu is very diverse and everything I've tried has been delicious! I've quite a bit of the food on the menu and have yet to find anything that I didn't like. Nice drink selection too, Happy Hour, right on the #27 bus line in Leschi, which is a very cute area of Lake Washington. A slightly elevated diner with a homey feel and a Lake Washington view. Portions are hefty and fish is fresh. I feel absolutely disgusted and queasy, as I swallowed a huge bite of salmon unknowingly - it tasted so strange, only to look down and find it was absolutely bloody RAW. Blegh. We had a marvelous dinner last night at BluWater Bistro. We were a group of five and sat in a perfect Hollywood booth in the corner with views of Lake Washington. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The specialty cocktails were divine. The food was cooked beautifully and in good sized portions. I ordered their special surf and turf, two had rockfish, one had "surf and sea" (they substituted salmon for the steak, and one beef dip sandwiches with au jus. All was consumed, with relish. First dessert, we split a Bailey's bread pudding. Small, perfect, dense and lovely, surrounded by a sea of caramel and topped with whipped cream, it was a delight. So happy that the Leschi Lakeside Cafe has become this wonderful bistro instead of turning into a corporate mediocre place that's all view, no substance. read more

Bluwater Bistro is a diamond in the rough. My husband surprised our family for Easter Brunch. I remember when it was Leschi Lake Cafe. It brought back many GREAT memories with my grandparents, who live in the Leschi neighborhood. The food was not too bad, it was tasty! It did take over forty minutes to get our meals. There was some issue in the kitchen, we were told later. I ordered the Salmon B.O.L.T., our daughter the Chicken Caprese and my husband the Fish & Chips. My challenge is my chowder was lukewarm (like the cook did not thoroughly warm it prior to serving it). My husband's fries were warm, not hot and the salmon was uncooked in the middle. What a challenge! Coming from a two hour church service we were famished. Our daughter loved her food though. Our server corrected the food but I was outdone so I took most of it to go. On another note, the servers apparently do not have any type of dress code. One server had on a "club-like" body dress with boots and lace leggings. Really, on a Sunday afternoon. All the bus -boys had on all black. Classic! I guess I am reaching back to the days of Leschi Lake Cafe, granted that was black bottoms white shirts and long white aprons. I think for the neighborhood and atmosphere they may want to rethink what they allow the servers to wear. The manager was very apologetic and asked us to return donning a giftcard. She must have observed the looks on our faces. We will try it again; maybe they were just overwhelmed with the Easter crowd. read more

Not a ton of choices in leschi when you tie up your boat on the public dock and looks for drinks and apps. So we kind of stumbled upon bluwater bistro without really looking for it. Cute spot inside but we were still enjoying the nice weekend so the tables outside worked just as well (plus you can have your dog join you at the table there). Amazing appetizers and drink list. Good set of rotating taps and some nice summertime cocktails get things started, but it's really the food that makes it all worthwhile. I'd strongly suggest (based on our table's delight), the Wagyu beef sliders (with just a touch of blue cheese crumbles on top, cooked medium rare perfectly), the Thai wings (more zesty than hot; perfect for a warm day), the manila clams (from whidbey island), and the ahi poke (insanely fresh and served with some raw ginger). Next time you're cruising around on lake Washington and just need a quick bite with great drinks, this cafe in leschi should be on your best choices... read more

Mother's day fun - 1 hour wait for cold food. About 4 bits of ham in the avocado scramble.

The food was excellent but the service was terrible. I don't say that lightly. I understand being busy. We were a table of 10. n ideal I know. It seemed like they sat us without the server's knowledge but once she knew she took our total order (drinks apps and entrees all at once) Twenty minutes late, there was no apology or any attempt to make it right. After that you would think your drink would come out but nope, not until after the food which was another twenty minutes (thirty five for my unlucky sister who ordered crab Mac and cheese). Nobody checked if we needed anything else or how we were doing. Once we were don, another 10 minutes or so to get our check and then she had to ask what we ordered because the system didn't keep our order. No apologies or any offer to make it right. frustrating and ruined what was supposed to be a special night for my in law's 40th anniversary. I was a waiter and restaurant manager so I have a huge amount of patience but this service was unacceptable. Skip it and head into town or order to go. read more

Our food and the service was excellent. We went for lunch. The problem was the cleanliness of the place, or rather the lack of cleanliness! The floor was very dirty, especially the carpet. Old and dated and food everywhere on it. All the windows were dirty. They nearly all had fingerprints and streaks on them. The whole place needs a thourough deep cleaning and maybe a paint job and some updating. But as I stated, the food and service were great. Please clean, Bluewater! read more

I really don't know how this restaurant stays in business! It needs a major overhaul all around. We sat outdoors and the railing between us and the water as well as the stairway going down was full of debris and cobwebs. Not a nice thing to be sitting next too while you're eating. We waited about 10-15 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order. My Asian Chicken Salad was so-so (skimpy on the chicken). It was suppose to come with cashews but they were missing. I told the waitress and she came back with a small dish of them and said they forgot to put them in the salad. Also, the paper menu was difficult to thumb thru. Imagine a 4"w x 7"L paper about 6 pages, stapled at the top. It would be way easier if the menu was all on one or 2 pages. The wait staff was friendly enough but didn't really take much time with us. We walked through the restaurant to get to the outdoor dining and the decor was dark, old and boring. You guys need to call "Restaurants on the Edge" (Netflix) and get some help!!! read more

It was a shame to have such a great atmosphere, good food, and such bad service (horrible). It was some of the worst service I have ever had. I basically tried to notify the manager (after eating), since we were still enjoying drinks. He was nice, and comped a round. The staff was nice, but the waitress was still quite inattentive. The place was not even that busy. Very sad to see such unnecessarily and consistently pathetic service. This place will not make it for long. This place gets two stars for as a result of very bad service. It was hard to not just give them one star. The two main pro's about Bluwater Bistro are 1) Awesome Bloody Mary and 2) Awesome location. Other then those two main points, this restaurant is average. I had just participated for two hours worth of Dragon Boating, and this restaurant is conveniently located on the docks. When you first walk in the restaurant, you notice the wood floors are rather old. I immediately went into the Restroom to wash up and definitely a -1 star. The Men's Restroom stinks due to the fact that there is not proper ventilation. So after holding my breathe doing a #1 at the urinal, I was ready to eat. So if you can take advantage of their happy hour, they have a $3.50 Bloody Mary which deserves the 5 star "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" I was in a group of 7 and we agreed to try 3 pizza's: Tomato with Basil, Pepperoni and Mushroom, and Pineapple with Canadian Bacon. They were all good if you like thin crust style. They brought out some fresh anchovies with was a plus. I probably would not go out of my way to come here (unless it was for a Bloody Mary.) Service was okay and food was okay. Went there for Sunday brunch with a Groupon and wasn't sure what to expect with all the negative reviews. We were seated at a table with a view and within less than a minute of sitting down, we had 2 waters plus a straw cup for the 2 year old and a plate of yummie banana bread slices. The banana bread and view kept the little guy entertained till our food got there. Our waitress had an amazing memory - never wrote anything down and our order was exactly what we had asked for. She checked on us periodically to make sure we had everything we needed. I had a simple breakfast with eggs, sausage, potatoes and wheat toast (their wheat toast is soooo good - you could tell it was not done in a toaster but on the griddle). The serving was huge and probably some of the best scrambled eggs I've had at a restaurant. They were soft and not overcooked and perfectly seasoned. The kiddo had sausages with the banana bread and gobbled it all up. The hubby had the avocado/ham ommie and said it was ok-good but the creamy sauce it came with was amazing. We both left with leftovers for the next day. Overall all, service was great, food was good, but the view was SPECTACULAR and we will definitely be back - hopefully on a sunny day so we can sit outside. UPDATE: I took off 1 star bc the waitress who asked to take my phone to enter the Groupon code into the computer managed to also mark another Groupon as used. I had to deal with Groupon for that to get reinstated and got a mini lecture on how once a Groupon is marked as redeemed, it's gone. The waitress had a great memory for food but this Groupon issue could have been avoided if she had a pen and paper On hand. That being said, we went back once more and were seated outside at a table that was a bit rickety. Definitely ask for an inside table. read more

Funny how you set out to do things in your day, but then something else becomes a part of your journey! Thats exactly what happened on Wed Sept 18th. So I received a call from my homeboy & he wanted to come get me for a beer. I agreed but only if we could sit by the water since we were in the area of Madrona anyways. Silly me Im thinking just grab a beer at the store & go sit by the water, lol So when we pull up to Blu Water Bistro... I light up because its something new for me. I looked at my friend & just started cracking up laughing. He said "everything ok?" I reply "of course, I just thought you meant get a beer at the store & sit at the water, but if you want to take me to an actual venue, hell yea Im down!" We sit at the bar. Our bartender was named Libby. She ended up being super koo. Customer service was on point. She checked on us when appropriate, shared stories, laughs, just an overall outstanding individual. The thing that I enjoyed most about her is she made my first visit very comfy. There was also a male & female sitting next to us. We all started to become cozy with one another...sharing stories, laughter, ect... I had mentioned something about the music being kinda lame (like elevator).. right away Libby was like "what you want to listen to?" (finding out it was Pandora they had running)... I said "um.. what I want to hear is probably not appropriate for this setting, lol" Libby "well Id be happy to change the station if you can pick something that I can play in the restaurant" so immediately I thought of Gap Band station. She was like "ooh get choice" .. right away she changed it... we all (us, Libby, & the male/female) were jamming! I tell you this was my FIRST time here, but mos def wont be my last. Bluwater offers a nice range of food on their menus that'll please anybody from your moody toddler to your crabby senior citizen. Ok so maybe I'm a little biased. This is in a really convenient location for me so I tend to swing by a good bit. Granted - the food is a little hit or miss. The crab mac and cheese is amazing although I know the boyf was a little disappointed that it wasn't gigantic. Fish tacos - tasty! Everything else I've had - ok. They do have a lot of pluses though: - you never have to worry about parking. - I've never had to wait (although I think I've only been there weekdays) - lots of outdoor seating - including some with a view and some with heat lamps - pool is free and the table is sometimes available. - beer is tasty. Very fab place to be, great appetizer menu with wild Salmon and Chicken satay (my faves) ... the dinner portion of the Salmon is the same as the appetizer. Lexi, the bar tender, is awesome but I can't say the same for the others that take her place on her days off. The Seafood Louie had me at hello when my server Austin Brought it out to my attention. Wow. That is the biggest salad for one person that I've ever met. They are generous with the seafood. I have island music in the background. Nice breeze brushing my cheek, candle flames dancing to the breeze. I'm stoke. The crab and bay shrimp are fresh. The Blackened Salmon was Medium Rare. I could never imagine that cold salmon can be so flavorful. It's worth it with every bite. read more

This place is always 5 stars. I visit 2 times a week. I stopped by this weekend, and notice the manager BART cussing out his employee over the bar. F*** bomb this F***k bomb that. He will kick her out of she does it again using the f**k as another verb. His employee didn't deserve the verbal tirade, or the disrespect. Bart thought, because it was busy no one would hear, but I was sitting right there. Even if your employee is at fault you need to speak to her with respect, and being professional. One of our favorite restaurants on Lake Washington- we boated over with a party of 8 plus 2 furry ones. The staff was amazing- they lit the fire pit for us to have cocktails & then saved a table for when our dinner was ready. Everyone was very friendly & inviting. Soooo, a group of 10 of my friends came here with a reservation for Noon made several days prior. When we arrived on time, a moderately friendly server we'll call "Kelly" said "We will have to get it ready for you"....?? So we waited for 10-15 minutes, while multiple people without reservations were seated before us. This is important because of what happened later. So then, like the patient customers we were, we waited and accepted the crappiest table in the establishment, in the middle of the floor, behind a wall, where none of us could see the windows or the water. Some of us were a little miffed that we had a reservation, which they didn't honor, and then also gave us crappy seats. So we decided to ask if we could be moved to the windows with a view of the water if a spot opened up. We had to wait 20 minutes to ask though because "Kelly" ignored us for that long, not even coming to get our drink order! When she finally came, "Kelly" rushed us, was snippy with any questions we asked and was completely impatient. We ordered, then we asked her if we could move, should a spot open by the windows, and her response was "I don't think anything will open up." BUT! Low and behold, a large party by the windows left! Keep in mind we had not ordered food yet and the "Kelly" was still paying our party of 10 NO attention whatsoever (she paid plenty of attention to the other patrons though!). Someone else, we'll call her "Becky", came over to us after we were waiting forever, and we flagged her down. W asked "Becky" quite politely if we could be moved to seats by the windows. We had been there for the better part of an hour by now with only drinks. "Becky" gave us this incredulous look and then said, "I'll have to ask the owner," and marched away. By this time some of our party were over it. We were already discussing going somewhere else and looking on yelp for nearby places because of the horrible service from "Kelly" and "Becky". This a party of 10 business professionals --attorneys, medical professionals, social workers, tech professionals, and we simply came there to have a nice women's brunch. With a reservation! So "Becky" eventually comes back and says passive-aggressively that she cannot seat us by the windows because there is a reservation for a large party expected soon. Now, to be fair, "Becky" was not our original server, so she may have not known we also had a reservation for an hour prior that was not honored. But we told her, "Um, we ALSO had a reservation but no one honored it." And "Becky" was like, "Sorry" (#notsorry). She asked if we were ready to order, and we were like, "No Becky, let's get our checks, we're leaving." She acted all shocked and flustered and walked away. Meanwhile Kelly comes back for only the third time, and once we asked for the checks, she looked super relieved and was like "Absolutely!" as she bounced away. While Kelly was gone getting the checks, Becky came back and shared with us that a miracle had happened! The owner now would allow us to move to the windows [because she told him instead of accepting the crappiest seats, we were leaving! He didn't expect things to escalate so quickly even though they were giving us the worst service ever]! We just calmly said, "No can do, Becky. We're headed out." A few minutes later, Kelly returned with our checks. We left. On our drive over to Redmond, we made a last-minute reservation at a wonderful little Puerto Rican restaurant where they sat us in a private room, and treated us like the queens we are. Needless to say, we were a group of Black professional women. The service we received was atrocious. We watched non-black patrons all around us getting much better service. Let's recap: 1) Upon seeing us, the restaurant refused to honor our reservation made many DAYS prior. We had to wait to be seated after people who had no reservations at all. 2) The server ignored us for the better part of an hour, only coming by in intervals of 15 minutes, even though we had no food! 3) When a more favorable spot opened up in the restaurant, they refused to seat is there when we asked, using the excuse that they needed to honor the reservation of someone else who wasn't even there, after they did not honor our reservation at all. 4) They only considered giving us anything we asked for when they realized we were not going to be spending our money there. I can't comment on the food because I only had a mimosa, but the reviews at this point are only 2.5 stars so take that as you will. But I'm from the south originally, and I've seen this behavior before. Just didn't expect it in a city as supposedly progressive as Seattle claims to be. Definitely will not be back and will not recommend this establishment to anyone else. read more

Had reservation on Valentine's Day. We were seated in a corner, okay that's fine. We Had to ask the hostess to change the table cloth after she seated us and happened to walk back by. It was dirty. Table was wobbling throughout whole meal as if the leg was broken. Wait for food was about 40 minutes as expected. i had the Crab mac it was watered down and gross. My husband had salmon which he said was delicious with the cold mashed potatoes on his plate.
