The ambiance and service were both noteworthy. It's stunning inside. -Perfect for a date. I loved our server. He was helpful without being overbearing. The food was good. Don't get me wrong. But for a $300 meal, not sure it was quite worth that. We ordered the steak tartare to start. Loved the grilled sourdough bread it came with. The wagyu strip steak was good but not a slam dunk. I did really enjoy the blackened salmon with grits, but the baked potato with creme fraîche and caviar needed more caviar and it wasn't presented in a very appetizing way. I'd have gladly paid more for more caviar on it. I load it up when I make it at home. It was an enjoyable experience and a nice change-up from your typical steakhouse, but I'd consider this a "one and done" restaurant. read more

I'll start with the positives.... The ambiance is beautiful! Great entry way and front bar! The hostesses were friendly and took our coats to hang. We had a 6:00pm reservation and were seated on time. The bathrooms are very clean, however on the dark side. Julian, the bartender at the main bar was fabulous and made great drinks! Now for the negatives.... Once we were seated, service was terrible and they weren't that busy! The waitress took forever to get our drink orders. When she finally took the drink orders, she didn't ask about food but we told her we were ready to order. We ordered 2 crab cakes to start. They came out and were good. We then ordered another round of drinks and our mains. There were 4 of us, we all got different steaks and different temperatures requested. I ordered mine medium...it was cooked perfectly, but ice cold and ZERO seasoning! My husband and the rest of the table ordered their's medium well. My husband's was cooked correctly, but ice cold and ZERO seasoning! Our friend's steaks were over cooked, ice cold, and ZERO seasoning. I'm talking about basic salt...there was none! I also ordered the steak frites and requested to switch the fries out for a salad. Our server told me that the chef doesn't do modifications. I was blown away, because what's the big deal not putting fries on my plate and giving me some salad instead?! For as expensive as it is to eat here, slight adjustments should be ok. Cooked and seasoned to her liking! My crab cake was probably one of the best I've ever had! I'll be back for that crab cake lol. The ambiance is to die for! Stunning! Service, was OK. I was between a 4/5 stars but the second they brought out the complimentary bread (pictured) in the beginning my experience immediately became a 5/5 stars... it came with three sauces to put on the bread & each one was phenomenal. This was my first time at BLVD and I'm truly happy that we chose here for our New Years Eve plans. On top of this being my first time, it was my first time having Steak Tartare and I fell in love ... it made me want to try every Steak Tartare in Chicago. Very flavorful & delicious! Every dish we had was top of the line. This might be a me thing, but the only dish I wasn't in awe of was the Strawberry Cheesecake. The strawberry flavor felt weird texture wise & almost to the point of being fake strawberries (but I know it wasn't). I've just had a lot more better Strawberry Cheesecakes in my life. Last piece was the service, great. One word to describe their service is great. From the moment we walked in to our Server (Gary), they all made the experience better. Since when is 4% PRE-tax fee, then a post-tax 20% mandatory gratuity acceptable? I used to love coming to BLVD patio on dates or with friends- great drinks, service, and decor. But these mandatory fees to support employee wages are getting out of hand. And then to be asked for a tip on top. I am putting my foot down on this and not coming any longer. The avocado toast was bland and burnt, the French toast was overloaded with berry sauce and had an odd spicy mascarpone. The bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich was decent but had an unnecessary peppery taste. The Wagyu breakfast sausage was thick and chewy, not what I expected. Is BLVD absolutely stunning on the inside? Yes. Is the service nice? Yes. Is the food exceptional? No. I've been here 2xs one for my birthday celebration and recently for a work dinner. Every time I am blown away by the decor and aura of this place. The drinks are nice and the staff is kind. The food is very standard and truly does not stand out to me. Now what does stand out is their bathroom. SEXYYY come here for a drink, photo, and vibes. Oh and that chandelier and the grand stair case! It feels like modern great gatsby. Unfortunately the experience was disappointing. The staff did not feel very welcoming from the moment we arrived, and the overall atmosphere felt rushed rather than comfortable. Our waiter seemed to be in a hurry the entire time, which made it difficult to relax and enjoy the meal. We also were told that the manager did not want us taking pictures with flash, which came across in a way that felt unfriendly. I had the worst experience. Too not make it too long, I sat at the bar and had a glass of wine while I waited for my party. When they finally came, I asked to close my tab. The waiter gives me the receipt but my card was not inside. I told him I didn't have it. He told me he gave it back to me. I'm like why would I lie about that? The card is already swiped and the drink is paid for. So instead of believing me off top he accused me of lying. Then he found it on the floor behind the bar and says, "oh that was my fault". Who else would It be? Order a medium rare steak, I cut into it and it's well done. NO PINK WHATSOEVER. The waitress takes it back and brings me another one. It's charred to a crisp. Still not medium rare but I'm hungry at this point. So I take a bite all I taste is burnt. I couldn't eat it. I didn't notice the waitress was behind me when I was telling my friends how trash it was. One of my friends had a bite and concurred. The waitress offered to take it back and I said yea I'm not going to eat it. I even offered to pay for it as I was just very disappointed and didn't want to make a scene. The waitress still took it off of my bill. But to go to an "upscale" STEAKhouse restaurant you would think they would get that correct. So I left unsatisfied and hungry. Cut to a week later I get an email from the city of Chicago saying I have an outstanding parking ticket for parking in a tow zone. The valet parked my car in a tow zone and committed a crime because they must've taken the ticket off my car and hoped I would never find out. I called the restaurant to get it rectified they did not care. They gave me an email for the valet and said contact them. Which I have emailed and it's been days with no response and the restaurant does not care. I will be looking into legal actions for this. Will NEVER go or recommend this place to anyone. read more

My cousin and I were excited we ran into this place in West Loop. Super cute ambiance, great music, and initially friendly staff! We ordered two sides as starters because we have different tastes and couldn't decide on an appetizer. We got the mac n cheese and blistered asparagus which were both delicious! Seriously the best mac n cheese I've ever tried. We wanted to order more, including entrees, but I think the staff thought for some reason we were finished and didn't come to take our order for entrees. I got the servers attention and kindly asked for the wagyu ribeye and he recommended medium because it's so fatty and rich. We were having fun and were excited for our steak. We got the steak and it looked delicious but I did notice it was very lean with little marbling, uncharacteristic of wagyu. I took my first bite and the flavor was delicious but then I started chewing... and chewing... and chewing. It was so tough and dry. The server noticed we were not enjoying it and we explained. He was super kind and receptive and offered to get us a new steak which we agreed to. While we were waiting for our new steak a blonde woman with a pixie cut and nose ring comes over and rudely asks if we are finished and need boxes. We tell her we are still waiting on our steak and she goes over to ask the server. Anyway we eventually get the steak and it is charred. Nearly inedible as you can see in the pictures. And it was just as chewy. At this point we just ate it because we were hungry and just drowned it in chimichurri and the asparagus bernaise sauce. We tell the server it was just as bad if not worse and he apologizes. We never asked for a comp or discount or anything. We just wanted to leave. The manager offers us free ice cream but we decline and ask for the bill. She gives us the bill, comped the mac n cheese and asparagus (the only things we liked) and circles the 20% service charge for some reason. There was also a random $7 surcharge. Anyway I paid, left addtl tip for the friendly staff and left. I just felt so unwelcome by that woman (a manager maybe?) and confused why they'd assume we weren't having entrees. I honestly would have ordered more sides and drinks but we were never asked. We had to initiate getting a steak at a steak house only for it to come out burnt and chewy. Really disappointing. Ambiance and service is unmatched! My friend got the oysters and scallops, says they were the best they've ever had. I got the lamb shank, which pretty much fell off the bone. Broccolini and spinach for sides were okay, anything to rave about, but still yummy! Came during a weeknight and they had a nice crowd despite the rain. We were seated in the pretty patio area which is under the L tracks so it is periodically very noisy! Picture-taking: We were seated outside which was bright but the inside was pretty dark. Beverages: Very good cocktails that are 1/2 price on Sundays! A lot of WBTG selections including a Coravin section and dessert wines. Menu: Pretty standard steak and seafood. A lot of steak options with various toppings. Steaks are a la carte and there are shareable sides. Food: The escargot were sandy and covered with breadcrumbs - I would avoid these. King crab legs were delicious. Bread service was delicious. Salads were good including a fine Caesar. Halibut and scallop entrees were very good. 16 oz Australian wagyu ribeye was delicious, with great char - served Rossini style (foie gras, shaved truffles, demi-glacé) - put it over the top! Steak frites came with delicious beef tallow fries. For dessert we had a good sticky toffee pudding and an interesting take on cheesecake with strawberry mousse. Service: Very good. Price: Expensive. Wow! From the striking ambiance, first class service, and amazing food this place is a ten for me! Our waiter Rob went above and beyond for my mamas birthday. He made her feel so special and provided a first class experience. Dirty and straight up martini were some of the best we have had.... And they have blue cheese olives ! The old fashioned is top notch with their own branded Woodford and the clearest cube you have ever seen. The half seafood tower was amazing and definitely enough for three people. The Mac and cheese portion was on the smaller side. I still enjoyed it though. I have had both the beet goat cheese risotto and the mushroom risotto here before. The beet goat cheese risotto was far better than the mushroom risotto. The bites of goat cheese made the dish. Without the goat cheese I would of thought the dish was bland. The mushroom risotto here was extremely buttery. Last time I was in I had the wedge salad. I really enjoyed it. It was the perfect size for sharing as an appetizer. We also had the dessert here and it was nothing special. If you are vegan or vegetarian there are not a lot of options here. Which is unfortunate, since the decor here is beautiful. Rated it a 3/5 because of the lack of vegetarian options, the servers forgetting things we asked for, and few dishes being underwhelming. read more

I have been trying to make my way to BLVD on Mondays for half of martinis for a while now. Well, today was the day! Walking in, I was greeted by the host, today I chose to sit at the bar. The restaurant is so elegant and beautiful. It's honestly one of my favorite places to dine. I already knew what I came for....a dirty martini. I ordered with bartender Dillan and Marie with no hesitation. My first martini was vodka based as I usually get but Dillan suggested I try the next martini with gin. I tried it and hunny I was hooked!! I had to order another. I also ordered the crab cake and it was deeeelish! I had so much fun at the bar with Dillan and Marie. I would give 0 stars if I could. The only reason this restaurant received one star is for the ambience. Everything else about our experience was extremely disappointing, especially for a steakhouse that is so highly rated. My spouse and I had a 7:30 PM reservation, yet after being seated, we sat at our table for over 30 minutes without any acknowledgment at all. No server, no water, no greeting -- nothing. I eventually had to speak up and ask who our server was before anyone came over. When someone finally came to take our order, the interaction was rude and unprofessional. There was no apology for the long wait and no attempt to make up for the inconvenience in any way. Once our food arrived, no one checked on us to ask how the food was or if we needed anything, which only reinforced the feeling that we were completely overlooked. I had also requested a booth with my reservation but was instead seated at a small table, which was another disappointment. From start to finish, it truly felt like my guest and I were ignored. As for the food, it was underwhelming and lacked flavor, especially the steak. Ironically, the best part of the entire meal was the sides. For a bill that totaled around $400, this experience was unacceptable. I honestly feel like I could have received better food and better service at a local chain like Outback for a fraction of the price. Then another host walked over and apparently we didn't meet his standards because he sent us upstairs. It just felt a little off to us. The upstairs room is small & loud. Our server was very friendly. As for the food, the crab leg was excellent. Everything else was a little lacking. Caesar salad was over dressed & a strong garlic flavor. While the steak was perfectly med rare, the crust over powered the flavor. Lobster was also cooked nicely, but the sauce to meat ratio was off. Twice baked potato was dry & overpowered by the bacon. Strawberry cheesecake was not creamy and had a strong artificial flavor. This is not to say any of these were bad, but at this price point I'm expecting perfection. When the bill came we were surprised that 18%gratuity was added to a party of 2. I suspect servers have been getting screwed so the restaurant is protecting them. I don't have a problem with this, but my husband didn't like it. Also there was a 4% 'to help offset increased operational costs resulting from COVID 19' fee. which was a little annoying. Aren't I paying more for my meal in general, why are you adding 4%? I know a lot of restaurants are doing this now but it was just very vague what this fee actually was. Amazing experience! We were there in December so it was fairly cold outside. They have a heated area if you are waiting for valet. We had reservations and we aired for our party to arrive and were immediately seated. Beautiful restaurant. They have beautiful chandeliers in the middle of the restaurant and have 2 stories. We were seated upstairs and celebrating my best friends birthday. We got some salads and drinks to start and got a few different cuts of meat and several sides so we can all share. The kitchen was out of one of the sides that we ordered so the chef sent out multiple sides and it was a great experience! We were able to celebrate with a great dessert and a latte! Had a private dinner party for the holidays with my work. I will say - the venue is incredible. Bathrooms are well decorated and there is a massive chandelier with a spiral staircase that gives a very lux vibe. The food itself ... wasn't my favorite. I did expect a bit more out of the steak as it was very cold. The crab was amazing though! Super fresh. The drinks were delicious as well. The service was too notch! An uneven experience for our table, which is unfortunate given the expectation. While there were few diners when we arrived, we were escorted to literally the worst table in the restaurant--adjacent to an area for servers and busboys. Drinks were some of the weakest pours we all have had, and bartender got two of the orders incorrect. Server apologizes for the bartender errors, which was gracious. Our table agreed that the steak frites was probably the worst we had all ever tasted, as it was tough and fatty. Unfortunately, the server looked at all of the pieces that we couldn't eat that were on the side of the plate but didn't say anything. Frites tasted like a local diner's--absolutely nothing special about them. Salmon was average. We passed on dessert, given the mediocrity of the meal. The inside aesthetic was great very low light and the bathroom was the cutest wish there was a little more light so I could have use the huge mirror to take some pictures. We sat outside in the all season patio there were heaters and when the sun went down and it got chilly they let down the panels it was nice. There is also a cute lit walkway to take great pictures. The oysters were an amazing appetizer, the crab cake not so much. My dinner was really good, I had enough to save for ouch the next day. I would get it without peas. I had the organic roasted chicken. My friends had steak they said it was good and cooked how they wanted. What a disappointing experience - I have had this restaurant booked marked for over two years, I have seen the pictures and read the reviews but I'm starting to think that the ones dining in don't know what flavor is b/c a lot of what we ordered did not have much of it. When you walk in, the restaurant gives late night clubbing with a splash of elegance - their is a spiral staircase and a beautiful chandelier parallel to the downstairs bar - absolutely gorgeous. The bathroom stalls are large and just as dark, I can only imagine the things those walls have seen. The sinks are of size where someone could wash their hands and a friend could pull up the provided plush stool to do their makeup - they wouldn't need to use the sink mirror, theirs a portable table mirror next to the sink as well. I saw that they also had a full bar upstairs with a private dining area, unfortunately we were sat outside. Our table was on the corner, so lots of walking passed and their was barely room for the menus + drinks + bread and butter. We actually tried the bread and butter but the bread was a bit on the hard side so we didn't eat much but a bite. I ordered the crab cake for our table, it was alright, nothing special about it which was a let down due to the price of it. My friend ordered the Salmon and asked for it cooked well, it was not so she barely ate half but she stated that the bed of grits it laid on was pretty delicious! I first ordered the lamb chops (I know, my mistake) and after biting into one - I knew I was not going to finish it, it was very chewy and had a distinct lack of flavor that I did not enjoy. They were kind enough to remove it from the bill so I asked for a Cobb salad instead (at this point I am not gambling on what may or may not be good to ME) - the 4 shrimps that laid on top were $20 and the salad itself was okay. We ended our night w/crème brûlée that was garnished with pineapple bites and grated coconut (the pineapples WERE OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD, I wish it had been warm or I would have eaten it all! To drink, I ordered the rum punch, I don't think any rum was in it - I didn't taste anything or even 'feel' it. My friend ordered two lemon drops totaling $84 Our server said her name was Paula but the receipt says Maria, it felt like she was rushing us out, every 10 mins or so, she or John Carlos kept asking us if we were done or could they take something - we just did not feel welcomed (we were also the only people of color sitting outside)... After leaving I noticed they charge a 4% service fee for "operational costs", that really irritated me. Lastly, since we were sitting on the outside area (which also had a full bar), their was the overpass train that came just about every 30 minutes. Bad experience, food took a long time to get ready, staff was rude and unprofessional, appetizer taste like it was reheated and steak was meh. Definitely I'm not coming back. read more
