Went for a girls night out.they charge 50 reservation charge for each person prior to the visit which is added to the final bill. I don't feel that's truly necessary.The ambiance is nice and intimate. it looks bigger in pictures. For an appetizer we ordered the ceasar salad and the caviar tower. First time having caviar delicious! now i'm not going to be so quick to order caviar again but it was nice to try lol .. each person at the table order a different appetizer. my favorite was the mushrooms and the mac and cheese. Fantastic week. New to Chicago and wanted to celebrate so was thrilled when we found this restaurant. We discovered it was restaurant week and went through all the swanky places to enjoy a good meal. After selecting (7) of the best menu selections we looked at ambience and value for money. Lastly we reviewed the latest reviews and picked BLVD over the other steakhouses. We were able to score a table on opendoor. There was not many spots left but we took the 5:45pm on a Sunday without any complaints. Parking nearby was easy but they also have Valet for only $16 dollars. Upon entering this restaurant, we were amazed at the beautiful chandiler. We were seated on the first level. Everyone was so polished and friendly. Front ordering to checking out, our every need was met. Food: oh yeah. We really enjoyed our meals. $55 per person was a grest value for quality of food and portions. Steak & Frites was good but I felt my steak was salty in certain areas. Tenderness and preparation was great. King Salmon was delicious but my husband doesn't enjoy mushrooms. He still devoured the Salmon. We also enjoyed Oysters before our meal. They have Oysters special on Sundays for only a buck. Those were very fresh and it was a nice experience for my husband (newbie) to enjoy. The decor was Hollywood glam...all day and everyday. I really loved the everything about this restaurant. Even the bathroom was posh. One suggestion would be to add a picture of a black Hollywood actress like Dorothy Danridge or Diahann Caroll. They were just as iconic and would fit in with all the Marilyns. So much to say about this place. Last area that I have to address is the dessert. Oh lordy...I regretted sharing my Sticky Toffee Pudding. It was fantastic. Every bite was pleasurable. Can you say soft cake, toffee candy, yummy syrupy sauce combined with vanilla gelato. Came here on a friday by reservation, was seated Immediately. Beautiful place inside, Beautiful chandelier. Service was top notch. Expect to spend alot of money here so I recommend coming for a special occasion. We tried oysters and shrimp cocktail for an appetizer. Lobster bisque was okay, I would have liked to have chunks of lobster in it but it just seemed like broth only. For our entree we had the filet with chimichurri sauce and the bone in filet with lobster tail. My filet was tender and cooked to perfection for me. We ordered the crab and corn as our side due to the positive reviews that I read prior to coming here, but I thought it was just okay. Now let's talk about dessert. The atmosphere is very nice, though better on the 1st floor than upstairs where we were sitting. Our server was great. The food was hit or miss. I liked the short ribs and creamed potatoes. My friend liked her chicken but does not like truffles so it was without the sauce. The mushrooms tasted ok but we did not love the texture, very tough and chewy. I did not love the shrimp cocktail and neither of us liked the smoky flavor of the Caesar dressing on the salad. The shrimp cocktail was strange, in a bowl with a salad over it and horseradish gelatin on the bottom under the lettuce. Just stick to the formula. Bavette's does it right. The shirley temple was basically just sprite, not enough grenadine. My friend liked her hyacinth mocktail. We did think it was odd that there was an 18% auto gratuity on the bill for the two of us. We were not told about it and did not see it on the menu. We tip more than that anyway but there was no reason for it and people should be told in advance if there is one. There are a lot of places with amazing food in Chicago so it may be awhile before I try this place again. read more

I went to this restaurant for a birthday celebration! I waited at the bar for three others to join me for dinner and had an Old Fashioned cocktail! The ambiance in this place was great as was the drink! When my party arrived I paid for the drink and followed the hostess to the inside of the restaurant! WOW ! The interior of the restaurant was spectacular although the music was a bit too loud! I ordered the New York Strip steak and the other three guests opted for the scallops! My steak was thin (3/4 inch) and prepared well done - I ordered medium! The scallops were also less than impressive! Total bill for two bottles of wine and the dinner for four was $560 USD. Checking the bill, the staff tried to charge me again for the drink I had already paid for before we sat down for dinner! If you are a fan of fantastic interior decorator designs and a great outside bar, then this establishment is for you! If you want a great and memorable dinner, do not bother spending your money here ! Gary our server was amazing! We went to celebrate my cousin's birthday! It was the evening of St. Patrick's day. There was a table with a few drunk, irresponsible party-goers. They were fighting amongst couples, they had an unruly child, etc. The manager did nothing. But Gary kept checking in on us. The food is always, always, always above par! Everything was on point here. Ive been here a few times but my favorite is always sitting at the bar. They have the most amazing bartender. He can ALwyaS give me a drink with me just telling him what flavors I was feeling that day. Im not a steak eater but the asparagus is one of my favs, the crab legs and risotto are to die for! That said, all of the staff were nice and professional and our server was great. But here's the real reason none of us would ever go back: we ordered 4 steaks all medium-rare and not a single one came out with even a hint of pink inside. You can't be a "luxury steakhouse" (whatever that's actually supposed to mean) in the city of Chicago, which is full of world-class steakhouses, and not cook a simple medium-rare filet correctly. I'd been to Blvd before but w friends, co workers. Am old west loop enough to remember when it opened. We canceled another res and decided tonight was the night for hubs to go w me to Blvd. I've always loved the design and that bar. Had a super early res (5:45p) as we were just coming off work, and literally one other pair in the restaurant, including the new patio. We checked in for the res and were told we cldnt sit at the bar, nor the dining room, as they have a dress code. I asked what we were wearing in violation as we just came from work in our office buildings. The host said my husband "didn't have a collared shirt", for context, he was wearing a crew neck tencil knit shirt. We asked that they cancel our open table res and we'll go elsewhere (OT app doesn't allow res's w in 2 hours of each other). We're offered the patio, and really just want to go, the patio looks cute for events or Sunday brunch (which they don't offer) but not a steakhouse dinner. We get talked into staying...we're way at odds, hubs wants to go, the entire experience soured from the start. I wanted to give the host and restaurant a chance to turn it around. Here's the summary... - food and staff were great as I'd experienced before - we spent ~$500 on dinner, so not a small tab - restaurant stayed 1/3 - 1/2 full the entire time we were there - collarless shirts on at least 3 other guys, jeans and sneakers everywhere (and let's not kid ourselves, i can name Michelin star restaurants in Chicago where this would be completely normal) - there's a Q/A here where Blvd says there is no dress code...so why would you say that on Yelp, then diminish your guests? In the end, while I enjoyed the meal and staff, I wish we'd left. There's so very many ways in everyday life where ppl are made to feel "less than"....age, weight, race, ethnicity, ableism...I cld go on. I just don't get the payback or ego of a restaurant that instills (and sorta enforces?) a dress code? Jeans and sneakers, fine, sweatshirt fine, but not a crew neck knit shirt? Make it make sense. No one needs another empty reason to de-value another human being. And while we're on dress codes...cld we pls all agree to RIP "smart casual"? Literally no one knows what it means beyond you don't trust humans to not wear flip flops, unless it's women's resort wear and bedazzled flip flops (do we agree how stupid this sounds?), or you want an out clause to exclude ppl on a "pick and choose" basis. There's nothing "smart" or stupid about casual clothing, There is something stupid and offensive tho about judging ppl based on appearances and whether they're worthy of you grilling a steak for them...for $...in the "hospitality" industry. read more

I decided to have my birthday dinner at this steakhouse, expecting a great experience, but I was incredibly disappointed. First, I couldn't book a group larger than six online, so I had to call the restaurant to make the reservation. Unfortunately, no one answered the phone all week. Left with no choice, I made two separate reservations for four people each. When we arrived, they couldn't accommodate us together, and half of my party was seated on the other side of the restaurant. The manager told me there was nothing he could do, which felt dismissive and unhelpful. We also were not allowed to take pictures with the flash even though the ambiance was dark and we were also not allowed to cut and eat my birthday cake at the table (Even though we were allowed to bring it in, light candles, and sing happy birthday). Weird right!? To make matters worse, the customer service was terrible. While our waitress seemed annoyed only with the host and other staff, the overall experience was ruined by how disorganized and unprofessional everyone was. The broccolini was a bit underwhelming but the stuffed potatoes made up for it. For dessert we had the chocolate cake, but we didn't really expect it to be served fridge cold so it threw us off a bit. It was a bit on the drier side, I don't think I would get that again. When correct appetizer finally arrived, they did not provide appetizer plates for sharing (we used the dirty bread plates). Two of us ordered the 32 oz Porterhouse for 2. Waitress said she would bring them, but didn't come back for 20 minutes, so we ate our entree off of dirty bread plates that were never cleared. Also had empty drink glasses for long stretches. Standard 20% gratuity plus 4% service fee was automatically added to our bill, so no incentive for the waitress to provide good service. We were a party of three. Food was good not great. Way overpriced for the quality. No specials on a Saturday night...restaurant of this alleged quality should have some type of chefs special on a weekend. We'll never go back. What else is there to say about BLVD other than "Wow!" They hit all the high points of an upscale steakhouse from beginning to end. As soon as you step into the restaurant you can't help but say "whoa..." This place is swanky and really captures the theme they are going for: old school Hollywood vibes. The lighting, the decor, and the apparel of the staff are all aces here and it creates a delicious atmosphere. If I were to suggest one thing, however, it would be the dress code. It is "smart casual" but people really push the envelope... I'd like to see it at a Business Casual or even a Jacket Required level. The dining room is dark but they have it perfectly lit so you can easily peruse the menu without issue. And what a menu! It is packed with delicious choices that cover all the bases and price points one could want. We happened to be there to take advantage of the Restaurant Week offering and it was an absolutely amazing deal. Naturally we started with a round of cocktails and went from there; some oysters, a bit of soup or salad, steaks all around, a selection of sides, and dessert to top it off. It was a feast, no doubt about it. And we all had our fill (and then some!) Every item was delicious but not entirely perfect: we had a bowl of soup that was luke-warm at best and a steak that was slightly overcooked. However, neither ruined the experience in the least. To top it all off, our waiter was brilliant. He was completely on-point with everything he said and did and he really made the meal wonderful. I just wish I could remember his name! This place was very underwhelming. We had reservations at 7:30 and arrived promptly. We were seated right away but didn't like the area we were seated so we requested another table. It took 15 minutes for them to find another table in a restaurant that was probably at 30% capacity. We order our food around 7:55, directly after being seated. Our salad didn't come out until 8:30. Our meal at 9:15. Tables that arrived after us received their food before us and were leaving before we were able to even eat. I called the manager over (Eddie). He was very nonchalant and unapologetic. The only reason I give this location 2 stars is because he comped us for our appetizers. The food was good though. Bone in Rib-eye: 8/10 (flavor was there but came out Lukewarm) Broiled Lobster: 10/10 Mac & cheese: 1/10 (lacked seasoning and flavor) Wedge salad 4/10 We were seated outside right next to a train station. I highly recommend this steak house in the West Loop! It was my first time trying this steakhouse for a birthday celebration in the city. The service was wonderful and accommodating. The ambience was right up my alley for a fun atmosphere. It reminded me of a dinner in Vegas which I loved. It was a really swanky place! I had the opportunity to get the A-5 Wagyu & the Lobster tail for my entree. I would have to say this was one of my favorite Wagyu cuts I have tasted. Melted in your mouth like butter. The atmosphere outside is really enjoyable I love the bit more casual environment for a steakhouse. But obviously the inside is stunning if you're looking for more formal. I really REALLY wanted to give this place five stars but four isn't bad. I'm a West Sider so I get excited for local places. This Steakhouse is located on the Near West side on a perfect corner. Valet customer service is superb! Under $20 to park so that was great. Overall, the staff is very nice. The ambiance makes you feel like a million dollars. So with all of that being said, why four stars? The food was just ok. I was expecting so much more. The Crab Cake sort of gave Salmon Croquette mixed with Stove Top Stuffing. The Blackened Salmon was ok but the Grits on the bottom had too much oil for me. If I go back I would try another dish but would reorder the Asparagus. The Sorbets were great. The mango was my fave. My Sis ordered the Organic Roasted Chicken and said it was ok. We had an appetizer, main courses with an additional side plus a glass of wine and a Rum Punch...the total was under $200.
