    Octopus on The Grill

This was an amazing experience for the minute we walked in until the time we walked out. Not only was the food amazing the customer service was as well. Rafael took great care of us. He did a great job of explaining the cuts of meat and the specials of the night. My wife and I usually split a steak (not to be cheap, but we simply don't eat a lot) and they were very generous and split it on two plates without any issues. The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The octopus as an app and our side was good as well. I will 100% come back here the next time I'm in Chicago.

Cliff and Jose and the whole staff were incredible to work with. We had a last minute cancellation to a reservation we had with a restaurant because our party grew larger than expected for a restaurant we shall not name *cough cough*somerset*. This was not a problem for kinzie chophouse and their team. They welcomed our business with open arms. Thank you to cliff, jose, and the entire team for accommodating and for the exceptional customer service!

Wonderful space to meet up with friends or coworkers for happy hour. I was able to tour several private spaces which can accommodate events of various sizes. The food was very tasty and good quality.

I came to Kinzie's for my Chicago birthday trip a couple weeks back. It was a Saturday night, and lots of the neighboring restaurants were packed. We called Kinzie's and there was no wait. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly and escorted to our seats rather quickly. All the staff were elegantly dressed, and looked very sharp. Very great impression. We were served a complimentary bite courtesy of the chef, which I don't recall the name, but it was seafood based. I ordered the filet medallions, with the Mac & cheese, and my friend ordered a center cut steak with mixed vegetables. I had a glass of prosecco & she ordered a Negroni. The menu was limited and quite expensive, but because I was celebrating my birthday, I decided to splurge a little. The food was good, I expected more from the steak though. It was cooked well, but could've used more salt. The Mac & cheese and vegetables were great. My friend told our server that it was my birthday so they gave me a sweet birthday card and a chocolate cake with the cutest gold bear adornment. It was such a nice gesture. The service was amazing, and the staff were very attentive, and thoughtful. They ensured our experience was a memorable one.

Came to Kenzie Chophouse for my birthday dinner with my boyfriend..his favorite steakhouse, and now I see why. The food was amazing. I had the dry aged lamb chops, perfectly seared and so flavorful I didn't need any sauce. He had a medium steak, also excellent. We shared the mac and cheese (creamy with bacon crumbles, solid but not mind blowing) and the fried potato cubes, which were a bit bland for my taste. They surprised me with a cute birthday dessert and candle, which was a sweet touch. I also had two sidecars that were strong and smooth. My boyfriend tried a whiskey based cocktail that was a little sweet for his usual taste but still enjoyable. Service was top tier attentive without being pushy. Multiple staff checked in on us, made sure we had what we needed, and even asked about allergies. We were seated right away, and everything flowed smoothly. The ambiance is dark, sultry, and intimate with velvet booths and a gorgeous backlit bar. It was surprisingly quiet for Father's Day (my birthday) definitely a hidden gem. Great food, great drinks, great service.

Amazing dinner from beginning to end! They were very accommodating with our large party of 14. Everyone started with cocktails and the chef sent out an amuse bouche. A wonderful tutorial about the differences of the steaks was really informative. Then delicious appetizers 2 each: Seafood Tower ($125), Mini Crab Cakes ($24) and Pork Belly ($16). I'm not a big steak eater so I got a Wedge Salad ($13) and French Onion Soup ($16). Got to share sides like the Mac n Cheese ($15) and Pomme Paillasson Potatoes ($14) Then I tried some Filet ($58) and the Dry Aged Delmonico ($76) from my friends. The Delmonico is definitely the way you want to go on this, no comparison. The entire evening was so leisurely and elegant. No rush at all, I couldn't believe we were there until 11pm. It wasn't until later I found out this is the only woman owned steakhouse in Chicago, very cool.

Soo.. this is a very rare time where I'm a bit conflicted on how to rate a restaurant. I'm giving 4 stars bc I tasted my friend's steak and it was delicious. It's a steakhouse. Of course the steak Should be amazing. Also the chef gave our table a lil treat (forgot what it was).. all of us loved our drinks and the waiter was great. So there are reasons why I want to give a high rating. I had a great time (mainly bc of the people I came with) Why this is not 5 stars.. my salmon could have been seasoned more. Much more. I was trying to really soak it in the sauce that it came with to get more flavor but there really wasn't much of that either. For a side, I originally ordered their version of au gratin potatoes. Their's really was just a 'liquidy' soup with small round potatoes in it with baked cheese on top (cheese seemed to have been just hovering over the bowl tho.. like the potatoes didn't actually have cheese on them). Wasn't really a fan of that. So me and a friend split a lobster risotto. At first taste, it was really good. Then.. idk. Just go for the steak

Classy place with attentive staff. Food was fantastic. A little spendy compared to other high end steakhouses I've experienced. Was entertaining clients and was taken aback when the bill came and my Waygu was $24 per oz when the menu stated this evening was $24 per 2oz. I did not say anything as I wanted to be discreet with our clients but was disappointed. Location is good and sides were delicious

Amazing tasting menu! Every single dish was so tasty and portions were generous - we were stuffed by the time we finished Highlight was the wet-aged filet - meat was so tender and juicy, cooked to a perfect medium and the carrot purée was to die for! Our server was not lying when he said we'd want to eat it by the bowls after trying it The scallop in the seafood trio was also spectacular. It was extremely plump and juicy and I didn't even need a knife to cut it through I really enjoyed the dry aged New York as well - it was great to have been able to taste dry-aged and wet-aged steaks one after the other to really understand the nuances in flavor/texture/chewiness Fantastic experience and honestly pretty underrated! (Ambiance was good but a little too dark for my personal preference)

The ambiance was good and the food was good. Even though the night was busy on new year eve the waiter was very calm and kind enough to take care of us. Really liked their Caesar salad and the drinks were strong and amazing. Perfect for a date night or celebrate your anniversary.

It was so delicious! Also the service was great, we tend to split a lot of our dishes and the staff kindly split everything for us without asking so we didn't have to do it ourselves!!

And he did, punctuating our dinner with a wonderful dessert with a birthday candle. Speaking of candles, the focaccia appetizer came out with a lit candle that melts a tasty, buttery dipping sauce. I had work done at the dentist earlier, so I had a hard time eating. Every bite was painful, but I heated up our leftovers and fell in love with my rigatoni with vodka sauce all over again. Yum. The only drawback is the prices. We're not rich, but we love a great experience. We understand that an experience like that comes with a price, so we'll be back as much as we can.

Forget about the perfectly made drinks that were served to us. Ricardo made us feel right at home with his kind disposition and friendly demeanor. But it doesn't just stop at Ricardo. Everyone was absolutely fantastic. We could have been served 7-11 sushi at this point and I still would have left 5 stars. Food time. The kimchi pork dumplings were an absolute flavor bomb and that parmesan broth gave the dumplings a little extra kick that took it to the next level. Plus, I love when the dumpling wrapper has a little chew to it and isn't this soft mush that dissolves in your mouth. The beef fat frites were a nice treat as well. They were not extra or over the top in anyway. But you can tell when something is done well and correctly, just like these fries were. The Premium Steakhouse Set, in my opinion, is all two people need to enjoy this very special experience. All the accompanying condiments were exceptional on their own and could have functioned as their own course. The Japchae glass noodles were a stunner. The real sleeper was the chopped lettuce greens tossed in their chili vinaigrette. Could have eaten 20 bowls of those lettuce greens. They told me they were fully committed the whole night, I said okay is there a waitlist, she looked at me unsure. I explained further if there is a cancellation would love to be notified and she wrote my name down. I went back to the lobby, looked on OpenTable and I saw multiple reservations. I went back to the hostess showing the 8:15 resy I got and she said it wasn't accurate and if someone booked it and came they would refuse them (what???!! There's a cancellation fee as well). I asked about the 8:45 and her coworker said that IS available. I was confused, because a minute ago she said they were fully commited. Which I said back, she said there is actually an 8:45 (okay so you lied). I asked if we could put our name down for that and did. After that extremely strange interaction, which I was not used to after eating at many higher end restaurants we sat down at 8:45. We ended up getting a mix of small plates. The waiter was clearly trying to sell us their expensive courses for his tip though he was very sweet... which he may not have realized we had an expense budget for work and we were trying not pass that. He emphasized the small plates were small and not enough food which we fell for and got more and had way too much food and passed our expense budget due to it. The food is great, it's the service that has work to do especially for such a high price tag. Get the chicken for sure. Dumplings you can pass on. The broccolini (not pictured) is great as well. Amazing sauce. As the food is good I would not come here again due to the service as their are other restaurants that are more buttoned up than this.

The drinks are also very expensive, and we found the steaks to be tough and dry. The Niçoise salad was awful, and not at all what we expected. It was drowning in dressing and the combination of anchovies and tuna did not work. It was also quite obvious that the tuna was not seared properly. I did think the roast chicken was good, and the fries were by far the best part of the meal. We went to several fine restaurants over the past few days to celebrate a milestone birthday, and La Grande Boucherie was the absolute worst in terms of value and quality of food. The bus staff was also incredibly attentive and wiped down the table between courses (a detail of fine dining that I think makes a huge difference!) Now the FOOD! Wow the truffle fries were some of the best fries I've ever had in my life. Weird item to lock in on, I know, but a good fry tells you everything else will be amazing too. It was crispy on the outside and the perfect pillowy texture on the inside. The steaks and bacon were incredible. It was cooked exactly as I like (I like mine medium well and run into a lot of places undercooking it. I know, it's unpopular but I am also paying for what I want. So I appreciate the perfection from Sophia on this one!) and I really enjoyed it Sophia Style. I love that all steaks already come with the house steak sauce and steak salt at bare minimum. The chocolate cake was AMAZING. it's gigantic, they literally served it with a steak knife lol. It's hazelnut and chocolate so it has a very rich deep flavor. They brought it out with a candle for my birthday which was a nice touch! Sophia Steak made my birthday dinner feel very special and we cannot recommend it enough for your special occasion!
